Squeaker McCarthy Thinks Hunter Biden’s ‘Sweetheart Deal’ Enhances His Sham Congressional Probe

After a years long investigation, President’ Biden’s son Hunter is finally being held legally accountable on charges relating to unpaid taxes and unlawful gun possession. It’s what Republicans and have been drooling about relentlessly ever since Biden was inaugurated.

Kevin McCarthy, House Speaker (Squeaker)

Notice that Democrats aren’t complaining about this, because they actually honor the law. But now that Hunter has been charged, his GOP pesterers are less than thrilled. They regard the plea deal that he accepted with prosecutors as a too lenient “sweetheart deal.” Which is ironic because one might think that Republicans would support people who resist paying taxes and embrace gun ownership. But no. Because Hunter’s last name is Biden he must be severely punished no matter how minor the crime.

RELATED: Trump’s GOP is Morphing Hunter Biden Into an Evil Cartoon Villain to Deflect From January 6th

Trump himself is appalled that Hunter is getting “a mere ‘traffic ticket'” as punishment. He whines that “Our system is broken.” However, he could have had his own plea deal if he were willing to admit his obvious guilt. But he arrogantly refused. And in disparaging the justice system he neglects to acknowledge that the U.S. Attorney in Delaware who charged Hunter was a Trump appointee.

In Congress the Hunter case has ignited a flurry of allegations that there is a two-tier justice system. They’re right, but not in the way that they think. Hunter received a sentence that is line with other defendants on similar charges. It’s Trump who has so far gotten off easy. And his criminal accomplices do so as well. For instance, Trump whisperer Roger Stone settled a $2,000,000 tax evasion case last year with zero jail time and not even any probation.

The Republican Speaker of the House, Kevin McCarthy, weighed in on the Hunter matter as well. And he exhibited his notoriously deficient capacity for logic and reason. McCarthy told reporters that…

“It continues to show the two-tier system in America. If you are the president’s leading political opponent, the DOJ tries to literally put you in jail and give you prison time. But if you are the president’s son, you get a sweetheart deal. Now this does nothing to our investigation. It actually should enhance our investigation because the DOJ should not be able to withhold any information now saying that there’s a pending investigation. They should be able to provide [House Oversight Committee] Chairman [James] Comer with any information that he requires.”

McCarthy’s suggestion that the Hunter resolution “enhances” the sham probes he is conducting is downright absurd. Republicans in the House are going after Hunter and President Biden on matters that are completely unrelated to the ones just wrapped up in Delaware. James Comer, chair of the House Oversight Committee, is trying desperately to manufacture crimes of bribery and corruption from thin air. In fact, he even admits that the evidence he has been harping about doesn’t exist. And his “star witness,” who no one has talked to in three years, seems to have disappeared.

SEE ALSO: HOW CONVENIENT: GOP Oversight Committee Chair Says He Can’t Find His Star Witness Against Biden

What’s more, McCarthy thinks that the resolution of this Hunter case means that the FBI can’t withhold information about totally unrelated pending investigations. Which makes no sense at all. The fact that other investigations are still in progress is justification for the FBI to decline McCarthy’s inquisition.

For his part, Comer continues to expose his biases and legal prejudice. In his response to the Hunter plea deal he said that…

“Hunter Biden is getting away with a slap on the wrist when growing evidence uncovered by the House Oversight Committee reveals the Bidens engaged in a pattern of corruption, influence peddling, and possibly bribery.”

Comer still hasn’t presented a shred of his allegedly “growing evidence,” or any hint of the criminal “pattern” that resides in his imagination. He went on to say that “We will not rest until the full extent of President Biden’s involvement in the family’s schemes are revealed.” Which further reveals that he has already predetermined Biden’s guilt, despite having no legal basis for that conclusion.

Meanwhile, McCarthy and his Ministry of Propaganda, Fox News, continue to disseminate lies and make hollow threats. It’s all that they have available, considering that they have utterly failed to accumulate any of those little things that we know as facts and evidence. And they will persist in that farce until they are thrown out of the majority next year.

RNC Chair is ‘Very Disconcerted’ that Biden Can’t Get Republicans to Support Trump’s Indictments

The Cult of Donald Trump – aka the Republican Party – is proving once again how devoted they are to their Dear Leader despite the voluminous record of his legal and ethical misconduct. The party is signaling that it will remain loyal to Trump no matter what crimes he has committed, even if he is convicted by a jury of his peers.

Donald Trump, GOP

Ronna McDaniel, the chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC), was interviewed by Kaitlan Collins on CNN Friday. The topics of conversation naturally included the recent indictments of Trump on 37 felony counts ranging from obstruction of justice to violations of the Espionage Act. Trump’s response to being indicted was a predictable emotional meltdown attacking President Biden and the the special counsel, Jack Smith.

SEE ALSO: Utterly Deranged Trump Calls Special Counsel a ‘Radical Right Lunatic’ Who ‘Planted’ Evidence

Somewhat less predictable was the position McDaniel took when Collins asked her about whether the GOP would still insist that all of their candidates pledge to support the eventual nominee, if that person had been convicted of felonies. At first, McDaniel shamelessly dodged…

Collins: Why should Republicans be asked to support someone who could potentially be convicted of a felony?
McDaniel: There is no convicted felon in the Republican field right now

That’s technically true. There is just a candidate that has been indicted on 71 counts in two different cases. Nevertheless, McDaniel is adamant that the loyalty oath be enforced if candidates want to participate in GOP primary debates. That doctrine is in effect even though there is little hope that Trump would comply with it. Why should he? He never did before.

RELATED: RNC Chair Thinks Trump Would Honor a Pledge to Support the GOP Nominee if it Isn’t Him

The interview actually went downhill from there. Collins sought to press McDaniel on the issue of Trump’s indictments and the GOP’s gutless and amoral toleration of his lawlessness and corruption. But her justifications were pitifully weak and disassociated…

McDaniel: Republicans feel like there’s one system of justice for them and a different for Democrats. There’s one standard for Hillary Clinton and a different for Donald Trump.
Collins: But the allegations are not the same for Hillary Clinton.
McDaniel: Because she never was investigated.
Collins: She was investigated.
McDaniel: She had a BleachBit server. She destroyed phones.

McDaniel has apparently BleachBitted her brain. Clinton may be the most investigated public official in modern times. Republicans held dozens of hearings about everything from her emails to Benghazi and back. FBI director James Comey was investigating her in the final days of the 2016 campaign, which was a significant factor in her loss. And failing in that argument, McDaniel decides to draw a comparison between Clinton and Trump, asserting falsely that she had 22 classified documents to his 17. In reality, Clinton had zero documents that were classified when she obtained them, and Trump had hundreds.

Collins points out that Trump had taken documents with nuclear secrets and confidential information about our allies. To which McDaniel replied that “He hasn’t had a chance to defend himself.” Seriously? He has been ranting non-stop about his indictment since even before it was announced. The problem is that his rants have all been incoherent tirades filled with lies and insults. He deliberately avoids any factual refutation of the charges against him. He has had plenty of opportunities to defend himself, he just never does so. Perhaps because he has no defense. Which may be one reason why his defense attorneys keep quitting. Along with his noxious personality and refusal to pay them.

RELATED: Crybaby Trump is Panicking Over the Likelihood that He is About to Be Criminally Indicted

McDaniel then complains that Clinton didn’t get indicted or have her home raided, but Trump did. That’s only because Clinton always cooperated with law enforcement. And every investigation, including those by Republicans, concluded that she had not broken any laws. McDaniel closed by whining that…

“We also know we have a President in Joe Biden who isn’t addressing the American people in a time of crisis. A deeply divided country. I think a former president being indicted is a time of crisis. And to not hear from our president, to have Joe Biden hiding again and not bringing people together is very disconcerting.”

Indeed, it is a time of crisis when a former president is indicted. But that’s Trump’s fault for being such an unrepentant criminal. It isn’t Biden’s responsibility to salve the tender feelings of Trump’s cult followers. To the contrary, it would be wholly inappropriate for Biden to comment on the pending charges against Trump. He respects the wall between the White House and the Justice Department. Unlike Trump, whose virtual campaign slogan, referring to Clinton, was “Lock Her Up,” And Trump recently promised to appoint a special prosecutor to “go after” Biden and his family. What’s “very disconcerting” is that after all this time, Trump is still so ignorant that he thinks a president has that authority.

McDaniel spent most of her time in this interview talking over Collins. She deflected with irrelevant detours to the Nothingburger Durham Report, and the Steele dossier. Just like every other Republican who has commented on this, including Trump himself, she clearly doesn’t have a rational response to the facts that led to Trump’s indictment.

Consequently, it is now official Republican policy that candidates and office holders who have committed felonies, including breaches of the Espionage Act, are acceptable and even welcome. In fact, it mandatory to support them in order to be a Party member in good standing. That’s something that all citizens should consider when they vote.

Utterly Deranged Trump Calls Special Counsel a ‘Radical Right Lunatic’ Who ‘Planted’ Evidence

The indictments of Donald Trump on 37 felony counts of mishandling sensitive national security documents is obviously weighing heavily on him. And the closer he gets to his arraignment in Miami, the more his ordinarily nasty mood deteriorates even further.

Click here to Tweet this article

Donald Trump, Insane, Straight Jacket

You know you’re in trouble when your former Attorney General is asked on Fox News about the indictments and says that If even half of it is true, HE’S TOAST! It’s also problematic when two of your lawyers resign within hours of your being indicted. And it’s even worse when another one of your attorneys appears on Fox News and declares that you aren’t looking at the prospect of prison realistically.

SEE THIS: Trump’s Attorney Tells Fox News He’s Not Facing Reality, He’s Denying the Prospect of Prison

The anxiety has clearly been mounting for Trump as his legal peril becomes more impossible to dismiss. His protestations of innocence seem increasingly hollow and impotent. In fact, he spends considerably more time attacking the Justice Department and the law, than he does making arguments against his guilt.

Which is what he was doing Tuesday morning prior to his arraignment proceedings. Trump posted a furious flurry of comments on his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, lashing out at special counsel Jack Smith. Unfortunately for Trump, his fear and desperation produced some rather comical misstatements…

“This is the Thug, over turned consistently and unanimously in big cases, that Biden and his CORRUPT Injustice Department stuck on me. He’s a Radical Right Lunatic and Trump Hater, as are all his friends and family, who probably ‘planted’ information in the ‘boxes’ given to them. They taint everything that they touch, including our Country, which is rapidly going to HELL!”

First of all, President Biden didn’t “stick” Smith on him. It was Attorney General Merrick Garland who made the appointment, and Biden has remained appropriately distant from all of that. However, Trump recently threatened that, if reelected, he would appoint his own special prosecutor to go after Biden. He apparently still hasn’t learned that presidents don’t have that authority.

More to the point, Trump’s tirade maligns Smith as a “Radical Right Lunatic.” Trump ordinarily attacks Smith as a “Radical Left Lunatic,” but he now appears to be covering all of the politically ideological bases. Either that or he’s suffering from a deviant strain Freudian slippery. He followed that up with an entirely baseless accusation that Smith “planted” evidence among the documents found at Mar-a-Lago. Even though all of those documents were taken into the custody of the FBI long before Smith was appointed.

Trump went on to vent his anger with posts asking if “Deranged Jack Smith” would be looking into “the 1,850 Boxes that Biden is fighting to keep secret.” Never mind that there are no such boxes in Biden’s possession, and that allegation has been repeatedly debunked. Then, for good measure, he posted his trademarked rants of “WITCH HUNT!” and “ELECTION INTERFERENCE!”

But Trump’s tantrum still wasn’t finished. He whined that “THE GRAND JURY WAS NEVER TOLD ABOUT THE PRESIDENTIAL RECORDS ACT OR THE CLINTON SOCKS CASE, BOTH EXONERATING!” However, there’s a good reason for that. Trump wasn’t charged with anything related to the Presidential Records Act (PRA), or what he calls the “Clinton Socks Case.” But even if those matters were relevant, they wouldn’t exonerate Trump.

The PRA explicitly states that “Presidential records automatically transfer into the legal custody of the [National] Archivist as soon as the President leaves office.” And the Clinton case involved audio tapes of an interview Clinton gave to a reporter. When it was litigated, the court ruled that the tapes were personal and that “the Presidential Records Act distinguishes official presidential records from personal records.” That cannot be said of the documents that Trump stole and stored in his Mar-a-Lago home/hotel.

Trump’s hostility toward the special counsel is typical of his response to being challenged. He thinks that his irrational anger is sufficient to persuade people that he didn’t do whatever he obviously did. And he extends that anger to attacks on his political foes. In fact, his entire defense strategy becomes accusing others of what he is guilty of, and expecting that to somehow exonerate him.

Someone needs to tell Trump that, even if others committed similar crimes, that doesn’t absolve him of his responsibility for criminal acts. Although, he will find that out eventually anyway.

Trump’s Attorney Tells Fox News He’s Not Facing Reality, He’s Denying the Prospect of Prison

No rational observer is ever going to characterize Donald Trump as someone who has a firm grip on reality. He lies with extraordinary abandon, and constantly presents a version of the world that is in stark contrast to the one that the rest of us live in. However, it is still rather astonishing that his own lawyer takes the position that he is something less than cognizant of the circumstances he faces and the legal peril that is looming.

Donald Trump, Prison

After being indicted on 37 felony charges ranging from obstruction justice to violations of the Espionage Act, Trump is suffering a severe mental meltdown that is evident in his remarks in public and online. And he isn’t getting much help from his legal team, two of whom he dismissed immediately after the indictments were announced. One of his remaining attorneys, Alina Habba, has been making the rounds of right-wing media to attempt to state his case. But she has not been particularly effective.

RELATED STORY: HUH? Trump’s Lawyer Accuses Special Counsel Jack Smith of ‘Scaring’ Mark Meadows Into Testifying

On Sunday morning Habba was interviewed by Shannon Bream on Fox News, who actually asked a pretty good question. She did not, however, get a very good response…

Bream: “I know you’ve been with the president. What is his mood? I mean, a conviction here on any number or multiple of these charges could be decades in jail. Has that sunk in?”
Habba: No, I don’t think he’s thinking of it that way, and I don’t really think that’s a realistic way to think about this case. He’s done nothing wrong. He said that this is completely politically motivated. It’s election interference at its best by a political opponent.

For any criminal defendant to approach a case this serious with the view that it’s not “realistic” to consider the prospect of decades in prison if convicted, is bizarre, to say the least. It’s an admission that Trump isn’t facing reality at all. And the defenses that Habba floats (“politically motivated,” “election interference”) are equally distant from reality. But then again, she is not an especially qualified lawyer. She went on to say…

“So to his credit, and the world should understand, an indictment is a one-sided document. He has a defense. The defense is real. He had the Presidential Records Act, which only he has in play. Hillary Clinton didn’t have that. Biden didn’t have that. And we’ll put that defense on. The team he’s going to have will be strong and knows exactly what they’re doing.”

Habba’s assertion that the Presidential Records Act is a defense ignores the fact that Trump’s indictment doesn’t charge him with anything related to that. It is never even mentioned. What’s more, it wouldn’t exonerate him if it were included. And her deflecting to Hillary Clinton and President Biden is just plain pathetic. Whatever crimes she thinks they committed, it wouldn’t have any bearing on Trump’s guilt or innocence. Although, she has apparently coordinated with Trump as to what their legal strategy should be…

SEE THIS: Crybaby Trump’s Indictment Defense Strategy Revealed: Whine Endlessly About President Biden

Habba also praises Trump’s legal team, which currently consists of just one newly named lawyer, Todd Blanche, who has yet to actually assemble a team. So she can hardly pretend to know that Trump’s team “knows exactly what they’re doing.” However, another lawyer who has had some history with Trump – his former Attorney General, Bill Barr – has an opinion that diverges significantly from the Trump defense. Barr now says about the Trump indictment that “If even half of it is true, HE’S TOAST!”

Consequently, Trump is running around crying about being a victim and the target of “Deep State” persecutors who hate him. He’s trying desperately to rile up his cult followers and incite them to commit more acts of violence on his behalf. So far, that isn’t working. But it’s still too soon to rule out the harm that could be done by the crackpots who have devoted themselves to his malicious MAGA movement. He is a clear and present danger to the nation, and has already predicted a political apocalypse should he be held to account for his crimes.

Crybaby Trump’s Indictment Defense Strategy Revealed: Whine Endlessly About President Biden

In the aftermath of the news that Donald Trump has been indicted for his brazenly unlawful mishandling of sensitive national security documents, the former guy has taken affirmative steps to defend himself and defeat what he sedately – and not at all psychotically – calls “THE RADICAL LEFT MARXISTS, FASCISTS, COMMUNISTS, LUNATICS, & DERANGED MANIACS” that are aligned against him.

Joe Biden, Donald Trump

Among the first actions Trump took post-indictment was to dismiss two of his attorneys. Because who wouldn’t want to begin the most important trial of his life with a new and unprepared team of lawyers? That was followed by a video rant that solidified his place as America’s preeminent victim and, in his own words, the most fabulous whiner.” Which led to a furious frenzy of fifty posts on his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, until nearly 2:00 am. This is clearly the behavior of a “stable genius.”

RELATED STORY: Trump and His MAGA Minions in Media and Congress Go BONKERS Over His Criminal Indictments

Trump’s tantrum continued on Friday with the posting of dozens more comments asserting his divine virtuousness. They consisted again mainly of idolatrous backing from his cult followers in politics and the press, and unsupported claims of innocence. But the following posts all had something in common. Can you figure out what it is?

“Biden had records for years, totally unsecured, even stolen when he was a Senator. This is crazy!”

“Biden moved his Boxes all over the place, including to Chinatown and up to his lawyer’s office in Boston. Why isn’t deranged Jack Smith looking at that?”

“Biden said he knew nothing about the Indictment of his number one rival, me.”

“Biden didn’t report anything to the Government, he got caught!”

“Biden was the one concealing and hiding documents at a level never seen before.”

“Biden pressed Jack Smith to do this in order to take the pressure off the fact that they caught him stealing $5 Million.”

“WHERE IS THE SPECIAL COUNSEL FOR JOE BIDEN AND THE $5 MILLION BRIBERY SCHEME ALLEGATION!!”

“I never gave a foreign power anything. Biden probably did. He gave to China because China gave him a lot of money?”

That’s right. Apparently Trump believes that President Biden did something wrong, and that that absolves Trump of any and all culpability for his own criminal acts. Never mind that all of Trump’s allegations above about Biden are provable lies. Biden never withheld any documents from the FBI. He never lied to authorities about having them. He never shared them with others. He never attempted to move and hide them. He never tampered with witnesses. And he never defied a search warrant or subpoena.

Trump and his defenders are appalled that Biden, a political opponent, can indict him and threaten him with prosecution and prison. That’s coming from the guy whose 2016 campaign for president featured the relentless call to “Lock Her Up,” referring to his opponent, Hillary Clinton, who hadn’t been indicted, convicted, or even credibly accused. And, of course, Biden is not involved with Trump’s indictments. They were issued by a group of citizens on a Grand Jury. And any eventual convictions would be determined by another group of citizens on a jury at trial.

It’s telling that Trump appears to be previewing his defense strategy as consisting of nothing but woeful cries of innocence, and attacks on Biden. That’s probably because he knows that doesn’t have any rational defenses. What’s he going to say? That he never took any documents? Or that it was appropriate for him to do so? Or that he didn’t know it was illegal? He’s already made public statements that are effectively confessions contrary to those arguments.

SEE ALSO: On Fox News Trump Confesses that He Stole Classified Documents, Despite Hannity’s Coaching

Trump spent Saturday morning posting another 41 comments before 11:00 am. They included one advocating violence wherein he is shown hitting a golf ball that hits Biden in the head after he spoke at the Air Force Academy. That’s actually a repeated theme that Trump has posted previously where the ball hits Biden while he was riding his bike and walking upstairs. Because it is just so funny to see a President assaulted.

Trump is plainly scared about his looming legal peril. And he is recruiting his cult disciples in an effort to fight back. Or at least to fill his pockets with cash. Trump, the alleged billionaire, has been running ads on Truth Social pleading for funds from his flock. Which is actually helpful to Democrats. Because then that money wouldn’t be going to campaigns for Trump or other Republican candidates. So be afraid, Donald. Be very afraid. And most of all, keep speaking out. You’re the best spokesperson the Democrats could have ever hoped for.

Trump and His MAGA Minions in Media and Congress Go BONKERS Over His Criminal Indictments

It’s been a long time coming, but accountability for Donald Trump and his brazenly unlawful misconduct may finally be upon us. Special counsel Jack Smith has issued indictments against Trump for a variety of criminal acts related to his theft and hoarding of national security documents, hundreds that were classified, at his Mar-a-Lago home/hotel.

Click here to Tweet this article

Donald Trump, Wah

Needless to say, Trump isn’t taking this news very well. Trump himself announced his indictments on his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, Thursday evening. He falsely attributed the charges to “the Biden administration,” rather than to the Grand Jury that is not, in fact, part of the administration. And he immediately pivoted to irrelevancies such as his nonsense complaint that he got more votes in 2020 than he did in 2016, but still 7,000,000 fewer than President Biden. Trump apparently doesn’t know that you don’t win elections by beating yourself four years earlier. Trump also tried to shift attention from his criminality to the repeatedly debunked allegation that Biden has 1,850 boxes of classified materials.

SEE THIS: Crybaby Trump is Panicking Over the Likelihood that He is About to Be Criminally Indicted

All of that was followed by Republican politicians and pundits whining about the indictments and attempting to deflect from Trump’s crimes by alleging that Biden has committed similar crimes. But that is a blatant and deliberate lie. Unlike Trump, Biden never withheld any documents. He never lied about having them. He never shared them with others. He never attempted to move and hide them. He never tampered with witnesses. He never defied a subpoena. He always complied with the law. The indictments against Trump are serious and wide-ranging. They include…

  • Willful retention of national defense information
  • Conspiracy to obstruct justice
  • Withholding a document or record
  • Corruptly concealing a document or record
  • Concealing a document in a federal investigation
  • Scheme to conceal
  • False statements and representations

UPDATE: The unsealed indictment reveals that it contains 37 counts against Trump.

In response to those charges, Trump’s apologists launched full-bore into pathetic defenses that centered mainly on their belief that no politician (at least the Republican ones) can ever be prosecuted without it being a ghastly assault on democracy. Never mind that Trump’s 2016 campaign slogan was “Lock Her Up,” a call to prosecute and punish his Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton, for completely baseless allegations.

Leading the charge on Trump’s behalf was House Squeaker, Kevin McCarthy, who tweeted that “Today is indeed a dark day for the United States of America. It is unconscionable for a President to indict the leading candidate opposing him. Joe Biden kept classified documents for decades.” And McCarthy’s Senate colleague, Josh Hawley, added that “If the people in power can jail their political opponents at will, we don’t have a republic.”

McCarthy knows very well that President Biden did not indict Trump. He was indicted by an independent Grand Jury in Trump’s home state of Florida. The case was presented to the Grand Jury by an independent Special Counsel who was appointed by an Attorney General who had no interactions whatsoever with Biden regarding the case.

This is how justice is administered in America. If McCarthy wants to be mad about something, maybe he should focus on Trump’s serial criminal activities instead. They occurred long before these recent charges. Remember that Trump was found legally liable for running a fraudulent university. He ran a corrupt charity. He sexually abused women and bragged about it. And he was indicted a few weeks ago for falsifying business records. That’s quite a rap sheet.

Sen. Hawley knows that no “people in power” have jailed a political opponent. At this time, Trump has only been indicted. And if Trump is eventually jailed it will not be by a nefarious cabal of powerful people. It will be by a jury of his peers acting in accordance with the law. If Hawley and other Republicans are disturbed that these indictments are historically unprecedented, maybe they should be disturbed instead by Trump’s historically unprecedented crime spree.

What this proves is that Republicans have as little respect for the rule of law as Trump. Many of them are threatening to defund the police, in the form of cutting congressional appropriations to the FBI and the Justice Department.

For his part, Trump unleashed a furious frenzy of fifty (yeah, 50!) posts on Truth Social Thursday night. They began with three of his own rage postings at around 7:30 pm when he announced that he had been indicted, and continued until nearly 2:00 am. The posts consisted mostly of reposts of his GOP accomplices and apologists, along with Fox News clips (15 of them) regurgitating the same utterly baseless talking point that President Biden was responsible for the indictments. And it needs to be repeated often that there is no evidence whatsoever of that.

Let’s not forget that these indictments relate only to Trump’s mishandling of national security documents at Mar-a-Lago. But the special counsel is also investigating Trump’s involvement in the January 6th insurrection against the Congress. So there may be much more to come in the not too distant future. In the meantime, Trump is ratcheting up the outrage and hostility in his attempt to incite further violence on his behalf. And he’s getting help from his pals at Fox News. It’s a deliberate and dangerous tactic that should be prohibited by the court. But as we’ve all seen before, it isn’t easy to shut Trump’s mouth, even when he is inciting violence and hurting his own legal prospects.

Finally, Fox News previously announced a town hall with Trump on June 19. It will be interesting to see if he – or they – still want to proceed with that. And if so, what new lies will Trump tell and how will he incriminate himself further? Stay tuned.

HUH? Trump’s Lawyer Accuses Special Counsel Jack Smith of ‘Scaring’ Mark Meadows Into Testifying

As the walls close in around serial crime boss, Donald Trump, he and his lawyers are becoming ever more desperate and downright deranged in their response to the legal peril that he faces. Many analysts are predicting that the Grand Jury investigations are winding up and that indictments against Trump are imminent.

Click here to Tweet this article

Donald Trump, Woman, Fear

For his part, Trump is exhibiting acute anxiety in the increasingly hysterical comments he’s posting on his floundering Twitter scam, Truth Social. He knows what he did, and he knows that special counsel Jack Smith and other prosecutors know as well. So he’s lashing out viciously as if that sort of impotent rage will frighten prosecutors into abandoning their lawful duty.

SEE ALSO: Crybaby Trump is Panicking Over the Likelihood that He is About to Be Criminally Indicted

On Wednesday one of Trump’s remaining lawyers, Alina Habba, appeared on Newsmax to continue trying his case in the right-wing media. But her arguments were not only pitifully weak, they actually complimented Smith and the special counsel team. Newsmax host Carl Higbie began by raising the subject of Trump’s former White House chief of staff, Mark Meadows, potentially flipping on Trump…

Higbie: It comes out that Mark Meadows is actually working with the prosecution to essentially get a plea deal, to plead guilty to certain things that help the prosecution against Donald Trump. What?
Habba: Yes, That he has immunity. That’s what we’re hearing. It’s obviously news to me. I just learned it with you. But yeah, that’s what we’re hearing. He was granted immunity. So effectively, he would be a key witness against the president and give testimony in opposition of him. As we’ve seen time and time again. This is what they did to Allen Weisselberg in the D.A. case in New York. This is what they do time and again to anybody that is close to the Trump world, to president Trump. Because they have nothing. So they have to squeeze people, scare people, and intimidate them into testifying in the direction that they want. It’s very disturbing.

I’m sure that it is indeed “very disturbing” to the Trump team to have Trump’s closest aide testifying for the prosecution. However, there is nothing unusual or untoward about prosecutors employing legal tactics to persuaded witnesses to reveal what they know about criminal activity. In fact, it is rather common. The best witnesses are often those who are close to, or conspiring with, the accused criminals.

Offering immunity is an appropriate way of eliciting honest and candid testimony. It is not done when prosecutors have nothing. To the contrary, they must have something in order to trade leniency for testimony. And that testimony must be truthful or the whole immunity deal is canceled. So it would do no good for the witness to lie just to tell the prosecutor what he wants to hear.

What Habba is mischaracterizing as “squeezing and scaring people” is standard operating procedure for prosecutors. So in effect, she is complimenting the special counsel team for their effectiveness and fealty to the law, and to the American people who they serve.

For the record, the assertions by both Higbie and Habba that Meadows was offered and took a plea deal are the product of their imaginations. Meadows’ lawyer has adamantly denied that he took any plea deal. However he didn’t deny that Meadows was granted “limited immunity” in exchange for his testimony. But that alone was enough to terrify Trump, who raged that…

“No one has told me I’m being indicted … but I have assumed for years that I am a Target of the WEAPONIZED DOJ & FBI.” [and that it is] “A TRAVESTY OF JUSTICE & ELECTION INTERFERENCE AT A LEVEL NEVER SEEN BEFORE. REPUBLICANS IN CONGRESS MUST MAKE THIS THEIR # 1 ISSUE!!!”

That’s a pretty astute assumption on Trump’s part. However, it is preposterous to think that Republicans in Congress should make his legal tribulations their #1 issue. After all, they haven’t exhausted the “woke mind virus” yet. Trump later added that the “DOJ, FBI, NEW YORK A.G., NEW YORK D.A., ATLANTA D.A. FASCISTS ALL!” It’s amazing how many fascists Trump thinks have infiltrated the halls of justice in America. On the other hand, it may be time to increase the dosages of his meds.

Crybaby Trump is Panicking Over the Likelihood that He is About to Be Criminally Indicted

The “stable genius” of Mar-a-Lago, Donald Trump, is once again demonstrating the stability that has become the hallmark of his abhorrent personality, or lack thereof. When he isn’t throwing temper tantrums for perceived insults, he is whining about not being sufficiently praised for things he never did. And he is, after all, the most fabulous whiner, in his own words.

Donald Trump Circling the Drain

On Monday morning Trump took to his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, to lash out at the Department of Justice and other legal entities for having the audacity to hold him accountable for committing a multitude of crimes. How dare they try to administer justice against America’s foremost political cult leader who has never done anything wrong? He simply will not stand for it, and woe be to anyone who attempts it.

RELATED STORY: Trump Warns of ‘Death and Destruction’ if He is Indicted for Crimes that He Actually Committed

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Trump’s lawyers met with the DOJ to beg that he not be indicted. But judging by Trump’s postings, that didn’t go very well. In a series of frenzied outbursts Trump revealed both his fate and fear. He began by raging that…

“Reports are the Marxist Special Prosecutor, DOJ, & FBI, want to Indict me on the BOXES HOAX, despite all of the wrongdoing that they have done for SEVEN YEARS, including SPYING ON MY CAMPAIGN. Biden Crimes go unpunished, including that he had Boxes in Chinatown, in his garage by the ‘Corvette,’ & 1,850 Boxes in Delaware that he won’t allow anyone to see. That is real OBSTRUCTION! They seek retribution for Republicans looking into Biden’s CRIMES! I HAVE DONE NOTHING WRONG. ELECTION INTERFERENCE!”

Needless to say, there is virtually nothing in that rant that approaches reality. Obviously, special counsel Jack Smith is not a Marxist. Nor are the investigators at the DOJ and the FBI. They never spied on Trump’s campaign. Biden has never been shown to have committed any crimes. And the only one who blatantly obstructed justice is Trump.

Nevertheless, Trump went on to yammer incoherently about the prospect of his being indicted while Biden is not…

“HOW CAN DOJ POSSIBLY CHARGE ME, WHO DID NOTHING WRONG, WHEN NO OTHER PRESIDENT’S WERE CHARGED, WHEN JOE BIDEN WON’T BE CHARGED FOR ANYTHING, INCLUDING THE FACT THAT HE HAS 1,850 BOXES, MUCH OF IT CLASSIFIED, AND SOME DATING BACK TO HIS SENATE DAY WHEN EVEN DEMOCRAT SENATORS ARE SHOCKED. ALSO, PRESIDENT CLINTON HAD DOCUMENTS, AND WON IN COURT. CROOKED HILLARY DELETED 33,000 EMAILS, MANY CLASSIFIED, AND WASN’T EVEN CLOSE TO BEING CHARGED! ONLY TRUMP – THE GREATEST WITCH HUNT OF ALL TIME!”

Trump is pathetically reaching back to his moldy oldies about the Clintons and regurgitating his vacuous sloganeering about “witch hunts” and “election interference.” However, the most preposterous part of his spiel is his claim that Biden “HAS 1,850 BOXES, MUCH OF IT CLASSIFIED.” Trump has been saying this for months, despite it being demonstrably false.

For the record, Trump is freaking out about 1,850 boxes of senatorial and vice-presidential materials that Biden donated to the University of Delaware in 2012. So to begin with, these are not things that are in Biden’s possession now, nor have they been for the past decade. What’s more, as reported by CNN, the documents in those boxes “did not appear to have classified markings.”. And the recent search was conducted “with the consent and cooperation of the president’s legal team.”

So, unlike Trump’s brazen lies and defiance of subpoenas demanding the return of the classified materials that he stole, there was no obstruction of justice on Biden’s part. Yet it is Trump who is inflaming hostilities and inciting violence in order to prod his cult disciples into fighting this battle for him and to install him as America’s first dictator.

Trump is using the prospect of warranted indictments as an inducement to start a civil war. It won’t work. but it could still produce some painful consequences for the nation if he is permitted to get away with it. So the sooner he is indicted, convicted, and incarcerated, the better.

UPDATE I: Trump has followed up his tirade with more hysteria. He’s whining that “The Marxists and Fascists in the DOJ & FBI are going after me.” The idiot of Mar-All-Ego apparently doesn’t know that Marxists and fascists are at opposite ends of the political spectrum and are generally enemies of one another. He’s just using these words as insults because he knows that his followers are as stupid as he is. And he posted another comment that complained about the probes of his crimes that ended with the word “FIGHT!” So he’s still inciting violence.

Fox News Finally Recognizes ‘The Biggest Problem for Donald Trump’ and it Isn’t Ron DeSantis

For the American people, Fox News has never been a reliable chronicler of what is going on in the country or the world. Their staunchly partisan, rightist slanting of current events – or history for that matter – was designed from its inception to deceive on behalf of the conservative agenda and the Republican Party.

Donald Trump, Prison

As the 2024 presidential election cycle begins to unfold, Fox News continued its mission to advance the interests of the far right. Even after some of the most devastating blows to its already journalistically unscrupulous reputation as revealed by the Dominion Voting Systems defamation lawsuit that they recently settled for nearly a billion dollars.

For much of the past seven years, Fox News has served as Donald Trump’s Ministry of Propaganda, advancing his interests and defending him from any and all criticism. One of their most frequent methods of aiding and abetting Trump’s cultish MAGA movement has been to simply ignore any bad news. And that’s particularly true with regard to the multitude of civil and criminal cases for which he is the subject.

Which makes the remarks Wednesday morning by Fox and Friends co-host Brian Kilmeade all the more surprising:

“The biggest problem for Donald Trump might not be Ron DeSantis, might be the court cases. As you saw yesterday, he’s gotta be in court in March. Right in the middle of the primary season. As you see what happened yesterday. He’s sending his lawyers to send to a letter to Merrick Garland saying ‘I want to meet.’ Because it looks like an indictment is coming out of the Mar-a-Lago case. So his biggest threat is something that has nothing to do with this widening field.”

Indeed. Ron DeSantis is hardly a threat to Trump’s aspirations for the GOP nomination. Neither is Mike Pence, Nikki Haley, Tim Scott, or Asa Hutchinson. The MAGA cult is all in for Trump and totally uninterested in his wannabes.

However, the looming legal perils that Trump faces are becoming more treacherous for Trump by the day. Kilmeade vaguely referred to a couple of them. The one for which Trump must appear in court next March involves his indictment on 34 felonies related to hush money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels to buy her silence prior to the 2016 election.

More ominous for Trump is the letter Kilmeade mentioned from Trump’s lawyers to Attorney General Merrick Garland. It was Trump’s pathetic cry for mercy as he acknowledges that more indictments are imminent with regard to his theft and hoarding of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago, and his incitement of the January 6th insurrection.

Trump’s lawyers pleaded with Garland for an audience so that they could whine about how “unfairly” Trump thinks he is being treated. But their letter doesn’t bother to provide any details about what such a meeting would discuss or accomplish, other than to complain and rant irrelevantly about Hunter Biden…

“We represent Donald J. Trump, the 45th President of the United States, in the investigation currently being conducted by the Special Counsel’s Office. Unlike President Biden, his son Hunter, and the Biden family, President Trump is being treated unfairly. No President of the United States has ever, in the history of our country, been baselessly investigated in such an outrageous and unlawful fashion.

“We request a meeting at your earliest convenience to discuss the ongoing injustice that is being perpetrated by your Special Counsel and his prosecutors.”

For the record, there is nothing unfair or unlawful about the special counsel probe of Trump. It is based on barrels full of incriminating evidence and testimony, much of it from Trump associates. What’s more, the only reason that no president in history has been subjected to this sort of investigation is that no other president was so transparently craven and criminally corrupt.

Garland was right to decline the meeting with Trump’s attorneys. He has maintained an ethical distance from the Trump probe, just has he has from the Biden documents probe and the recently concluded Durham Nothingburger.

The fact that Trump’s attorney’s can so casually be dispatched is proof of just how feeble Trump is in these waning days of his increasingly impotent political life. But expect him to become ever more outraged in response to his dwindling influence. Like a cornered rat he will bare his tiny teeth and squeal incessantly in the hopes of scaring off his foes and preserving whatever scraps of cheese he can.

Former NY Prosecutor Righteously Rejects GOP House Judiciary Committee’s Political Theater

The Republican majority in the House of Representatives has made it their mission to malign and disparage President Biden above all other political or legislative considerations. It’s an obsessive determination to poison the electoral landscape for Democrats that is succeeding only in humiliating the Republicans who are engaging in it.

Jim Jordan

Foremost among the GOP persecutors is Jim Jordan, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. He is currently presiding over wholly contrived hearings into the activities of Alvin Bragg, the Manhattan District Attorney whose investigations of Donald Trump’s hush money payments to adult film star, Stormy Daniels, resulted in a Grand Jury indicting Trump for thirty-four (34!) felonies accusing Trump of falsifying financial records.

There is no question that Jordan is staging these hearings purely as political retaliation. As part of his partisan crusade, Jordan subpoenaed Mark Pomerantz, a former prosecutor in the Manhattan D.A.’s office. On Friday Pomerantz complied with the subpoena and showed up for Jordan’s clown show. However, he refused to answer questions, asserting his constitutional and legal ethics rights. In his opening statement Pomerantz said that…

“I am here because I respect the rule of law… What I do not respect is the use of the Committee’s subpoena power to compel me to participate in an act of political theater. This deposition is for show. I do not believe for a moment that I am here to assist a genuine effort to enact legislation or conduct legislative ‘oversight.’ We are gathered here because Donald Trump’s supporters would like to use these proceedings to attempt to obstruct and undermine the criminal case pending against him, and to harass, intimidate, and discredit anyone who investigates or charges him.”

Pomerantz goes on to explain his reasons for declining to cooperate with the “cynical histrionics” of the Committee’s GOP leaders. He cites the District Attorney’s assertions of “claims of privilege and confidentiality to protect the integrity of the pending prosecution and continuing investigation of Donald Trump.” He elaborates further saying that “The charges against Mr. Trump should be heard and decided by a judge and a jury before politicians second-guess their merits.”

Pomerantz also cites the 5th Amendment to justify not capitulating the Committee’s coercion. He maintains that he has broken no laws, but is nevertheless, “not required to answer questions if my answers might be used against me.” He adds that the law “permits me to refuse to answer questions that are not pertinent to legitimate legislative function.” He also notes that attorney-client and work product privileges may also apply to some of the Committee’s inquiries. In closing he says that…

“It gives me no joy to invoke my legal rights, but I am glad that the law allows me not to cooperate with this performance of political theater. As an American I am privileged to have the legal rights that I assert today, and I am hopeful that I live in a country that will continue to respect them.”

Jordan’s rank partisanship has been on prominent display throughout his brief tenure in the chairman’s seat. He also formed a subcommittee on the “Weaponization of the Federal Government” whose sole purpose was to weaponize his congressional power to attack Democrats and run cover for Donald Trump.

However, Jordan’s issuance of subpoenas is particularly comical considering that when he was recently subpoenaed by Congress, he impudently ignored it. So why would he expect anyone to respect his summons? Jordan is not someone who should be taken seriously. And Pomerantz responded precisely as any honorable public servant should.
