Has Fox News Blacklisted the Sex Scandal Plagued Trump Toady Matt Gaetz?

The political prejudices of Fox News are getting tested by current events that put the right-wing “news” network in a decidedly uncomfortable position. It was revealed last month that Republican representative Matt Gaetz (Q-FL) is under investigation by the Department of Justice for serious felonies including sex trafficking of a minor, prostitution, drug use, and financial corruption.

Fox News, Matt Gaetz

As a result of these charges, Fox News has had to adapt their ordinarily knee-jerk, pro-GOP editorial mission to keep from awkwardly aligning itself with the perversion and criminality for which Gaetz is accused. Never mind that Fox News didn’t have any trouble aligning itself with such criminality when it was committed by the serial sexual predator, Donald Trump. Gaetz isn’t Trump and doesn’t get the same measure of absolution from the Trump Ministry of Propaganda.

On March 30, 2021, Gaetz was interviewed on Fox News by Tucker Carlson. The entire segment was provided as an opportunity for Gaetz to defend himself from the allegations against him. Fox’s participation in this self-serving dialogue is hardly unexpected considering the network’s affinity for Gaetz as one of Trump’s most zealous supporters among Republicans in Congress. But even at the conclusion of that interview, Carlson exclaimed that it was “one of the weirdest interviews I’ve ever conducted.” And it would be hard to disagree.

However, that interview with Carlson was also the last time that Gaetz has appeared on Fox News, or even been the subject of any sympathetic stories. That was three weeks ago. This is the network that has shamelessly defended Derek Chauvin, Roger Stone, Paul Manafort, Capitol insurrectionists, the Confederate flag, QAnon, Alex Jones, and Vladimir Putin, to name a few. But they now appear to be reluctant to defend Gaetz. That says something about the depth of the muck that Gaetz is wallowing in.

Gaetz’s GOP colleagues in Congress are equally afraid to be associated with him. Only a couple of his closest friends in the House – Jim Jordan and Marjorie Taylor Greene – have bothered to stick up for him. Even Trump offered tepid support. It remains to be seen if the Fox News blackout will continue for any length of time. But the fact that they have snubbed him in this, his hour of need, is a significant rejection that has to hurt. Especially when everyone else that would be considered an ally has been running for the hills.

Tucker Carlson of Fox News Says ‘Vaccines Don’t Work and They’re Not Telling You’

For more than a year now, Fox News has been working diligently to exacerbate the deadly consequences of COVID pandemic. Along with Donald Trump, they have downplayed the severity of the crisis and maligned the experts who sought to protect the public’s health. In fact, studies have proven that watching Fox News actually increases coronavirus fatalities.

Fox News, Tucker Carlson, Coronavirus

No one at Fox News has been more guilty of these disinformation crimes than Tucker Carlson. He has promulgated lies and promoted medically preposterous conjecture. He has disparaged knowledgeable professionals like Dr. Fauci. He has denied the value of vaccines even while his boss, Rupert Murdoch was butting in front of the line to get his.

On Tuesday night Carlson took another leap down the rabid hole. In a monologue that will surely result in higher mortality rates, Carlson demonstrated how pitifully ignorant he is and unable to grasp simple medical concepts (video below). He ranted that federal health authorities…

“…recommend you continue to wear your masks when you go outside. How long will this continue? Well, according to the Yahoo news, experts say it is ‘not entirely clear when it will be considered okay for people who are fully vaccinated to stop wearing masks.’

“At some point – no one is asking this but everyone should be – what is this about? If vaccines work, why are vaccinated people still banned from living normal lives? Honestly, what’s the answer to that. It doesn’t make any sense at all. If the vaccine is effective, there’s no reason for people who’ve received a vaccine to wear masks or avoid physical contact.”

Honestly, what doesn’t make any sense at all is Carlson’s arrogance in believing that his conclusions about public health have greater validity than doctors who have spent their lives studying it. The guidance for safe behavior is fluid due to evolving science and study. Public health professionals are right to always provide the most cautious appraisals so as not to incur unnecessary harm.

Remaining masked after being vaccinated is simply the best advice to protect oneself and others. It doesn’t mean that the vaccines don’t work. Carlson is too stupid to grasp that. so he continued to sum up saying that…

“So maybe it doesn’t work and they’re simply not telling you that. Well, you’d hate to think that especially if you’ve gotten two shots. But what’s the other potential explanation? We can’t think of one.”

The fact that Carlson can’t think of another explanation just proves how intellectually vacant he is. And he’s apparently not embarrassed to admit it. But even worse is his promulgation of the conspiracy theory that the ever-present “they” know that the vaccine is a hoax and are deliberately keeping it a secret. Seriously? That’s what Carlson and Fox News want to foist on a nation that has already suffered the loss of more than half a million people?

The damage that Fox News is doing is hitting their own viewers hardest. Their audience is made up predominantly of elderly white men, a group that is more vulnerable to severe consequences should they contract the coronavirus. A new Monmouth poll finds that “21% of Americans claim they will never get the vaccine if they can avoid it […] 43% of Republicans versus just 5% of Democrats saying this.” You can safely assume that most of those vax-deniers are Fox News viewers.

Meanwhile, at CNN, Dr. Fauci was asked to respond to Carlson’s nonsense. He said that…

“Yeah, that’s just a typical crazy conspiracy theory. […] I don’t have any idea what he’s talking about. […] It’s certainly not helpful to the public health of this nation, or even globally. You know, I don’t want to get into arguments about Tucker Carlson, but to me it’s just — you know, it’s counter to what we’re trying to accomplish to protect the safety and the health of the American public.”

This might be a good to remind everyone that Fox News defended Tucker Carlson from a defamation lawsuit by arguing – successfully! – that “given Mr. Carlson’s reputation, any reasonable viewer ‘arrive[s] with an appropriate amount of skepticism’ about the statements he makes.” In other words, Carlson is a known liar whose commentaries can be dismissed out of hand as the ravings of an unhinged crackpot. He is also guilty – along with Fox News – of negligent homicide and mass murder. Hopefully they will eventually be held to account.

Project Veritas Unveils Its Lamest Exposé Yet on CNN’s Alleged Anti-Trump ‘Propaganda’

The record of James O’Keefe’s deceptively named Project Veritas is one of pathetically contrived disinformation and deliberate lies. And the reputation of O’Keefe himself is as a recidivist liar whose dishonesty cost him $100,000 in a defamation lawsuit; who was convicted for trespassing in the federal office of a Louisiana senator; and a pervert who tried to lure a reporter onto his “love boat” in a botched sting.

James O'Keefe

Now O’Keefe is back with a new video that purports to be a bombshell exposé of CNN’s hidden agenda of anti-Trump propaganda. As usual, it’s a complete dud that only exposes O’Keefe’s incompetence and commitment to flagrant falsehoods aimed at maligning any media enterprise that isn’t avowedly right-wing.

In this latest video O’Keefe serves up someone named Charlie Chester, who O’Keefe says is a technical director at CNN. There is no verification of his identity or his employment by CNN, but O’Keefe continually refers to him simply as a “director,” which is deliberately misleading. For the sake of argument, let’s say that Chester is who O’Keefe says he is. Chester’s remarks are a long ways from anything resembling a “bombshell.” Among other things he says that…

“We [@CNN] got Trump out. I am 100% going to say it, and I 100% believe that if it wasn’t for CNN, I don’t know that Trump would have got voted out.”

“Our focus was to get Trump out of office, right? Without saying it, that’s what it was, right?”

“So our next thing is going to be climate awareness. […] Climate change is gonna be the next COVID thing for CNN.”

“That’s propaganda. […] Fear sells.”

Watch O’Keefe’s teaser reel if here you have the stomach for it:

Oh my. What an explosive set of revelations. Some dude says that CNN was singlehandedly responsible for Donald Trump losing the 2020 presidential election. So it wasn’t because the election was rigged, or because of voter fraud, or the “deep State.” Or the fact that Trump was despised by millions of decent Americans. It was a plot by CNN all along. And this cable news network that the right repeatedly disparages as “failing” was so influential with a majority of the American people that they pulled off an electoral victory with 81 million votes.

It’s notable that all of the allegations directed at CNN in O’Keefe’s video fit the behavior of Fox News much more closely. Their focus has always been to defeat Democrats with propaganda, and to sell fear of the imminent destruction of America by radical socialists, uppity Blacks, and caravans of immigrants.

For the record, this Chester character has no way of knowing what he claims to know. A technical director is not in the editorial loop at a news network. He doesn’t make decisions or attend meetings that are related to the content of any news story. Nor is he likely to have inside information as to the thinking of the editors and journalists at the network. He is a behind-the-scenes technician who keeps the TV machines humming. And the fact that he’d talk to such an obvious shill only affirms that he’s too naïve or foolish or self-serving to be listened to.

{UPDATE: O’Keefe posted a second video of this Chester guy, and it’s even stupider than the first (if you can believe it). He fails to coherently define “propaganda” and demonstrates his ignorance of political strategies while discussing Matt Gaetz, the GOP representative currently being investigated for sex trafficking and drugs].

This is the source that O’Keefe is relying on for his bombshell? This is the source that excited O’Keefe so much that the day before this video was released he tweeted that “Tomorrow you guys at @CNN are going to have a loooooong day.@oliverdarcy @brianstelter @jaketapper This is the most devastating thing you’ve ever seen inside your network. Sleep tight.” Those guys at CNN must be shaking in their boots.

O’Keefe’s pitiful video had a predictable effect on Trump World. Donnie Trump Jr tweeted that “A @CNN director is caught on video admitting that the focus of CNN’s news coverage in 2020 was “to get Trump out of office” & that they engaged in “propaganda” to make it happen. CNN isn’t a news organization, they’re a Democrat Super PAC!!!” Sean Hannity tweeted that “Care to comment Humpty? Have a great day!! @brianstelter.” No one will be shocked that these dumbos would buy O’Keefe’s scam. However, the video was ignored by every reputable news organization.

Speaking of Hannity, he interviewed O’Keefe on Tuesday night. It was a predictably tedious, self-exalting segment that included O’Keefe’s announcement that he will be suing CNN for defamation. Which led to this exchange:

O’Keefe: I think a lot of people should start suing the media for disinformation. It’s disgraceful what they’re doing.
Hannity: I might be filing so myself.

That’s especially rich considering that Fox News is currently being sued for defamation by both Smartmatic and Dominion voting services companies for billions of dollars. And the Project Veritas video is full of potentially defamatory content that could justify suits against O’Keefe. Also in the segment, O’Keefe claims to have won a great legal victory over the New York Times, but in fact the Times merely failed to get a favorable ruling on a motion to dismiss, which is pretty routine in these proceedings.

And if you any Maalox left, here is the segment from Hannity:

This isn’t the first time that O’Keefe sicced his Project Veritas on CNN. In October of 2019, O’Keefe released a similarly weak and unsubstantiated video that made essentially the same criticisms. And despite the fact that there was nothing remotely credible about the project, it triggered a lawsuit by Trump for – get this – false advertising. The suit charged that CNN’s claim to practice “excellence in journalism” was false because they said things about Trump that he didn’t like, but were nevertheless true. The threatened lawsuit, not surprisingly, never came to pass.

You have to wonder how this charlatan can continue to post these feeble stabs at journalism after so many humiliating crash landings. It’s truly an obsession that is driving him to embarrass himself over and over again. You would think that knowing how hard the adults at CNN are laughing at him would cause him to step back. But that would be the mature and intelligent thing to do. So don’t hold your breath waiting for O’Keefe to do it.

Trump Excretes An Utterly Delusional and Paranoid Rant About ‘His’ COVID Vaccines

The Former Guy is at it again. Donald Trump is putting out press releases in lieu of tweets since his banishment from Twitter. He is said to prefer his exile because he thinks these press releases are more eloquent. And besides, he’s plotting his return to social media with his own branded alternative: Qwitter?

Donald Trump, Coronavirus

In the meantime, Trump has just posted one of his “eloquent” press releases (see below) lashing out at President Biden because the FDA and the CDC have temporarily paused distribution of the Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccine. The action was taken “out of an abundance of caution” due to reports of rare incidents of blood clots affecting literally less than one in a million people.

Trump’s commentary was a typically incoherent run-on paragraph overflowing with hostility directed outward at others and affinity directed inward at himself. He began by saying that…

“The Biden administration did a terrible disservice to people throughout the world by allowing the FDA and the CDC to call a ‘pause’ in the use of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine.”

First of all, Biden didn’t do this at all. Unlike Trump, the Biden administration treats the FDA and CDC as independent health authorities acting in the service of science, rather than an egomaniacal occupant of the White House. Trump continued saying that…

“The results of this vaccine have been extraordinary but now its reputation will be permanently challenged. The people who have already taken the vaccine will be up in arms, and perhaps all of this was done for politics or perhaps it’s the FDA’s love for Pfizer. The FDA, especially with long-time bureaucrats within, has to be controlled, They should not be able to do such damage for possibly political reasons, or maybe because their friends at Pfizer have suggested it. They’ll do things like this to make themselves look important.”

Trump is purposefully trying to alarm people and get them to become “up in arms” because he thrives on fomenting fear and division. His ludicrous assertion that the FDA “has to be controlled” is just the sort of idiocy that resulted in more than half a million Americans dying of COVID on his watch. And his determination to make everything political is further evidence of his inability to grasp the severity of the pandemic and the need for competent leadership. But Trump still wasn’t through making an ass of himself:

“Remember, it was the FDA working with Pfizer, who announced the vaccine approval two days after the 2020 Presidential Election. They didn’t like me very much because I pushed them extremely hard. But if I didn’t, you wouldn’t have a vaccine for 3-5 years, or maybe not at all. It takes them years to act! Do your testing, clean up the record, and get the Johnson & Johnson vaccine back online quickly. The only way we defeat the China Virus is with our great vaccines!”

Paranoia strikes deep! Trump is still trying to peddle the bizarre conspiracy theory that Pfizer and all the health experts throughout the world were aligned against him. He may be right that he is widely disliked, but that’s only because he’s a narcissistic sociopath who has created unimaginable suffering and loss. And he had little to do with the development of the vaccines that he is now claiming credit for. Pfizer didn’t even participate in his vaunted “Operation Warp Speed.”

Ironically, Trump’s Tuesday tirade may serve to get more people vaccinated. He is finally advocating for vaccinations, despite his having downplayed them in the past and received his own in secret. But he still couldn’t resist taking another racist swing at Asian-Americans with his derogatory “China virus” epithet. But then, it wouldn’t be Trump if he wasn’t being offensive, obnoxious, and infantile.

HUH? Fox News Hack and GOP Senator Say Corporations are ‘Kind of Scary’

The hypocrisy of the Republican Party is a remarkably resilient toxin that has infected the American body politic. They have abandoned any sense of reason or rationality. And if they have to contradict even their longest held “principles” (to the extent they exist) in order to sustain whatever outrage they are peddling, they’ll do it in a flash.

Fox News, Censorship

The GOP has always had an affinity for big business and the wealthy elitists who reign over it. But now they are experiencing a sea change due to events in Georgia and Texas and some other red states that are drafting and passing legislation aimed at suppressing the votes of Democrats in general, and people of color in particular.

This trend began when Georgia passed a series of suppressive bills that reduced ballot access, made voting by mail more difficult, and even criminalized giving water to voters waiting in line. Subsequently, some companies in Georgia responded to the protests of their customers by renouncing the anti-voting bills. Major League Baseball moved their All-Star Game from Atlanta to Denver. And Delta Airlines, Coca-Cola, and others let the GOP politicians in Georgia know that there would be consequences, including cutting off campaign donations.

This corporate revolt has spread as similar bills spread to other states. And now the corporate world’s best friend, the Republican Party, is shocked and appalled and ready to strike back. They have even threatened to revoke the preferential tax codes that the GOP had previously given them (Oh no, not that!). The GOP Minority Leader in the Senate, Mitch McConnell, has called for corporations to get out of politics. Well, except for their financial support.

On Monday, Lisa Boothe, a Fox News contributor, expressed what has become the new mantra of the GOP with regard to their Big Business ex-allies:

Really? People like Boothe never thought it was scary when corporations shoveled funds into their campaign war chests. They never thought it was scary when those corporations spoke out against fair taxation. They never thought it was scary when corporations campaigned against reproductive rights or civil rights or environmental protection or regulations that protected the safety of food, water, or workplaces. They never thought it was scary when those corporations backed their candidacies for public office. And they certainly never think it’s scary when Fox News, itself a monstrous corporation, gets entwined in politics every minute of every day.

Boothe’s tweet was followed less than an hour later by a similar posting from the GOP Senator from Missouri, and insurrection proponent, Josh Hawley. He repeated the same message about how the corporations he once loved have turned evil:

Not to be outdone, Fox News primetime host, Laura Ingraham, devoted her entire opening segment on Monday night to a monologue demanding that “conservatives have to rethink their relationship with Big Business,” because “Corporate America has gone all-in on helping Democrats secure a permanent majority.” Right, because Democrats have always been Corporate America’s favorite party. Elaborating, Ingraham disgorged the ludicrous theory that corporations are intent on “protecting liberals’ grip on power.” “Democrats,” Ingraham babbled, “know their agenda is gonna crush working class Americans. They hate it when wages go up.” Which is why Democrats are the party fighting for a higher minimum wage and an end wage disparities due to race and gender, while Republicans steadfastly oppose that.

Hawley, Boothe, Ingraham, and the rest of these ultra-rightist hypocrites have apparently forgotten how supportive they were when corporations would “get together to plan how to control legislation” that favored the corporations and the Republican political power base. They must have forgotten about the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), a confederacy of corporate lobbyists and state legislators that work together to draft legislation on behalf of its corporate members.

For the record, what triggered Boothe and Hawley at this time is that a group of more than 100 top corporate leaders got together to discuss how they should respond to the Republican voter suppression movement and the GOP’s threats of reprisals. It’s a voluntary association driven by the reaction of the American people to the red state anti-voter initiatives. And contrary to Hawley’s reference to “oligarchy” it wasn’t started by the corporate titans, but by Prof. Jeffrey Sonnenfeld, a dean of the Yale School of Management.

Corporations will always have their own best interests at heart. But it is decidedly better for the world when they are pursuing those interests due to free market pressure placed on them by their customers, than by the greed that motivates their executives and shareholders. And it’s the fact that these recent events are marketplace-driven that is so objectionable to the Republican Party. They simply can’t stand it when the people decide to rule. They don’t like it when people rule by voting in record numbers. And they don’t like it when people convince corporations to behave like good corporate citizens.

GOP Senator Whines That Biden Isn’t as Stark Raving Mad as Trump

The election of Joe Biden as President has profoundly changed the White House culture and the national political environment. And it’s not just because he is articulating and implementing an agenda that advances the interests of the American people, and that they overwhelmingly support. It’s also because Biden isn’t a narcissistic, pathological lying, sociopath like his predecessor, Donald Trump.

Donald Trump, King

The Republican Party had a chance to distance themselves from the insanity that Trump excreted so excruciatingly. Instead they chose to embrace him with more devotion than ever, despite the fact that he has become America’s Biggest Loser. Republican members of Congress have been making the mandatory pilgrimage to Mar-a-Lago to kiss Dear Leader’s – let’s just say ring.

Chief among the obedient faithful is the Senate’s number two Republican, John Cornyn of Texas. And to demonstrate his loyalty to Hair Trump, Cornyn posted a tweet that he intended as a slam on Biden. It said that…

“The president is not doing cable news interviews. Tweets from his account are limited and, when they come, unimaginably conventional. The public comments are largely scripted. Biden has opted for fewer sit down interviews with mainstream outlets and reporters. […] Invites the question: is he really in charge?”

First of all, it needs to be noted that Cornyn’s tweet was cut and pasted, without attribution (plagiarism?), from a Politico article by White House Correspondent Eugene Daniels. But more to the point, Cornyn is apparently appalled that Biden doesn’t regard his duties as President to be ranting endlessly on Twitter and posting clips of himself on Fox News (between rounds of golf at his own resorts). In Cornyn’s acutely warped Trumpism, Biden is neglecting his job by spending all of his time actually doing it.

The excerpt from the Politico article was not meant to be critical. It was merely descriptive of a president who isn’t a pompous braggart that needs to be the center attention at all times; who isn’t at war with the free press; and who expresses himself with simple honesty. Biden views the presidency as a sacred duty to serve the people, rather than his own ego. And he sought to be a relief from the reality TV melodrama of the Trump era. That point was made by Daniels later in the article:

“During the campaign, the Biden team sold themselves as a return to calm. Their commitment to that pledge since taking office makes clear that it wasn’t just a show for voters but an actual strategy. It is a head-spinning departure from four years of President Donald Trump, who was his own surrogate and aspiring assignment editor, tweeting changes to policy and taking the typically adversarial relationship with the press to a full-on war. […] But Biden aides believed that simplicity and restraint was the best approach. He won the election.”

The stance by Biden and his administration is a deliberate departure from the madness of Trump & Company. What’s more, it is what the American people want and voted for in droves. Biden’s press secretary, Jen Psaki, stated it succinctly when Cornyn’s comments were raised at the daily White House briefing:

Reporter: Sen. John Cornyn has called Joe Biden’s tweets “unimaginably conventional” and said that his comments were “largely scripted” and questioned whether he was really in charge. Does the White House have any reaction to that?
Psaki: Well I can confirm that the President of the United States does not spend his time tweeting conspiracy theories. He spends his time working on behalf of the American people.

Working on behalf of the American people? What an original concept. The Republican Party might want to consider that sometime. That’s if they can stop working on behalf of the wealthy, the kleptocracy, and the Messiah of Mar-a-Lago long enough to care about the nation more than their party or themselves.

Fox News Attempts (and Hysterically Fails) to Contrive a Fake Biden Scandal

Ever since the presidential election last November, Fox News has been at its wits end (admittedly not a long walk) trying to tarnish Joe Biden. They have attacked his marriage, slandered his dogs, accused him of plotting to “take down America,” and crowned him as the King of “Cancel Culture” (a role that more accurately describes Donald Trump). In the meantime, the GOP has hitched it’s wobbly wagon to America’s Biggest Loser.

Joe Biden, Donald Trump Baby, Fake News

However, despite the evidence of the untimely demise of Dr. Seuss and Mr. Potato Head (they have their priorities), Fox News has been utterly incapable of concocting any tales of impropriety that can stick to the wily Biden. Their impotent schemes just keep serving up more humiliation for Fox than for their would-be target. And an outstanding example of Fox’s failure to launch came Saturday evening in the form of a tweet by Trump’s former Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications, Dan Scavino:

Oh My! The necessity for immediate ethics investigations is rarely advocated by anyone associated with Trump. And for good reason. Trump presided over an administration that was an ethics black hole. But Scavino’s outrage was so intense that he had speak up. His tweet linked to a Fox News article that revealed the sordid circumstances surrounding a Biden website mishap:

“The White House said Thursday that a link to a page on the Biden campaign website in the WhiteHouse.gov fact sheet for the president’s $2 trillion-plus spending plan was put there in error. The link was included on the words ‘more likely’ deep in the body of the 25-page document. The line where it was included said, ‘People of color and low-income people are more likely to live in areas most vulnerable to flooding and other climate change-related weather events.’ The link was eventually taken down.”

Good Lord! The horror of this malfeasance truly needs to be explored in more detail. Fox News reported that a Republican congresswoman, Victoria Spartz, uncovered the travesty. She posted her own tweet excoriating the Biden White House and announcing her letter of disapproval dispatched to the Office of the Special Counsel:

You’ll notice that Biden’s White House Director of Digital Strategy, Rob Flaherty, responded promptly with an acknowledgement of the error and its correction. That’s something that the Trump White House never would have considered, no matter how depraved the offense.

This whole affair, however, requires a closer look. The video provided by Spartz shows that the errant link to a Biden campaign donation page was buried deeply on the White House website’s page that detailed his American Jobs Plan.” It would take a committed reader to peruse the page all the way down to the naughty link (which has, indeed, been removed).

But that’s not the end of this tawdry tale. Had anyone clicked on the link that Scavino and Spartz were so offended by, they would have been taken to a page on the old Biden campaign website that had information about his climate agenda. While that was not a donation page itself, it did have links to a page where donations could have been made. There was just one one problem. When arriving at that page there was a message that said…

“You have attempted to make a contribution to a fundraising page that has no active recipients: either the page’s owner has removed all committees or organizations from the page, or we have concluded processing contributions for these committees or organizations.”

So to recap, 1) Scavino was appalled by a Fox News story about… 2) …an irate GOP representative who… 3) …complained about an allegedly improper link that… 4) …lead to nowhere. Somebody call the Dead Link Police! Why isn’t the FBI all over this criminal conspiracy?

As an addendum to this melodrama, the Fox News article that started it all also segued into an attack on Biden’s jobs/infrastructure initiative. They wrote that…

“Biden’s spending plan, formally titled the American Jobs Plan, is being sold as an infrastructure proposal and has broad support from most Democrats in Congress, though there are some that appear reluctant to back it as one massive bill. Republicans uniformly oppose the plan and say most of it is not actually spending on infrastructure but instead designed to bolster assorted liberal priorities.”

For the record, the Biden plan (like his COVID relief/stimulus plan before it) is broadly popular among the American people, including Republicans, despite being “uniformly opposed” by the knee-jerk obstructionist GOP members of Congress.

GOOD NEWS: Republicans Bet Future on the Century’s Biggest Loser, Donald Trump

The Republican National Committee has just announced that Donald Trump will be a featured a speaker at their party retreat on Saturday. The retreat, by the way, will be held at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort, so it will not only be propping up his ego before an audience of drooling sycophants, it will be filling his pockets with cash.

Donald Trump Circling the Drain

The fact that Republicans are still so anxious to enrich Trump is a testament to the power of his con artistry. This comes after he angrily instructed his cult followers not to donate to the GOP, but to him instead. And then he ripped those donors off by deceiving them about what (and how much) they were donating.

But that isn’t the worst of it. By embracing Trump as the banner carrier of the Republican Party, they are hitching their wagon to this century’s biggest loser. Following two terms of Bush, then two terms of Obama, Trump promptly flamed out after only one term. And it was a spectacularly disastrous term that saw more than half a million Americans die due to Trump’s negligent and incompetent mishandling of the COVID pandemic.

Trump was also the first president in history to be impeached twice. He is the first president in decades to leave office with fewer people employed than when he started. He exploded the national debt by cutting taxes for corporations and the wealthy. He advanced the nuclear aspirations of both Iran and North Korea. He withdrew the U.S. from the international Paris Climate Change Accords. And he incited deadly riots in Washington, D.C. by insurrectionist mobs.

Nevertheless, as reported by Fox News, Republicans are still addicted to Trump’s brand of divisiveness, dishonesty, and his bullheaded attachment to willful ignorance:

“In his keynote address to GOP donors at his Mar-a-lago resort, the former president is expected to lay into President Biden on issues like cancel culture, proposed gun restrictions and especially for the record-breaking surge of migrants crossing the southern border.”

So The Trump-loving GOP has three top priorities for their future electoral agenda. The first will be “cancel culture,” a Fox News buzzword that holds little meaning to most Americans. Secondly will be opposition to sensible gun safety reforms that most Americans – including many Republicans – support. And third will be immigration, an issue that is near the bottom of the American people’s concerns, despite the efforts of the GOP and Fox News to fear monger and spread racist “white replacement” conspiracy theories. Fox’s report continued with quotes from Trump’s draft speech:

“I stand before you this evening filled with confidence that in 2022, we are going to take back the House and we are going to reclaim the Senate–and then in 2024, a Republican candidate is going to win the White House,” Trump says in the prepared remarks provided to Fox News. Trump is expected to accuse Biden of putting “America Last,” sowing cancel culture wars and not delivering on his promise to unite the country.”

In other words, the same old vacant political rhetoric that is slathered in lies and utterly devoid of any factual basis. Trump also takes a swipe at Biden as not “hav[ing] the energy, the capacity, or the stamina” for the job. Never mind that a Fox News poll found that that voters considered Trump as the “mentally unsound” candidate.

The GOP had an opportunity to get out from under that orange mop-topped anchor, but have decided to stick with the devil they know. Democrats may want to send their Republican counterparts a “thank you” card for making Trump the face of their party for the foreseeable future. It really is the best thing that can happen for Democratic hopes to secure their congressional majorities and hold on to the White House in 2024.

UPDATE: As expected, Trump delivered an ego-drenched oratory focused almost entirely on his delusional “Big Lie” insistence that the 2020 election was “stolen” from him. In the process he trashed leading Republicans like Sen. Mitch McConnell (as a “dumb son of a bitch”) and former VP Mike Pence (as a “disappointment”). And this self-serving insult fest was at a GOP pep rally intended to motivate party regulars prior to the upcoming election season. Nice work, Donnie.

Trump Puppet Matt Gaetz Parrots His Incendiary ‘They’re Coming For You’ Spiel

The old saying in political circles that warns you to stop digging if you find yourself in a hole, is being utterly ignored by Republican hothead Matt Gaetz (Q-FL). Despite his being the subject of federal investigations into sex trafficking of a minor, prostitution, drug use, and financial corruption, Gaetz is continuing to mouth off in public to the delight of his prosecutors.

Matt Gaetz, Prison

Not surprisingly, Gaetz is ranting in a manner that will be familiar to anyone who has paid attention to Donald Trump for the past five years. His oblivious defiance in the face of increasing legal peril is reminiscent of the former guy’s stubborn refusal to accept reality even after two impeachments, dozens of civil and criminal lawsuits, and numerous former associates ratting him out.

Gaetz had the audacity to deliver a speech at – where else – the Trump National Doral golf resort in Florida before a group of “Women for America First.” And if it wasn’t bad enough that an accused sex offender is speaking before an audience of women, the group was also one of the organizers of the deadly January 6th insurrection in Washington, D.C.

The speech began with a shout out to his fiancée, Ginger Luckey (a stripper name if there ever was one). And it went downhill from there. In a reference to the “stop the steal,” Big Lie rhetoric that triggered the riots in the Capitol, Gaetz told the crowd that “They can never steal what America felt like under Donald Trump.” Which is true. The nation will not soon forget what it felt like to have a narcissistic, pathological lying, racist, mishandling a pandemic that took the lives of more than half a million Americans due to his negligence, incompetence, and deliberate malfeasance.

Gaetz went on to brand himself as a demagogue. “Firebrands,” he bragged, “don’t retreat. Especially when the battle for the soul of our country calls.” And then Gaetz blatantly plagiarized his Messiah-a-Lago (video below) saying that…

“When you see the leaks and the lies and the falsehoods and the smears, when you see the anonymous sources and insiders forecasting my demise, know this: They aren’t really coming for me. They’re coming for you. I’m just in the way.”

Sound familiar?

First of all, Gaetz needs to be corrected as to who “they” are coming after. It’s him, not the delusional deplorables he would like to misdirect the Feds toward. Gaetz just wants to infect his sheep with his own fear so that they fight back on his behalf. That’s the way of cowards like Gaetz and Trump.

It’s notable that the language Gaetz used is exactly the same as that Trump used back on December 18, 2019 (and several times thereafter), in an attempt to unify his cult followers in a confederacy of victimhood. It’s a tactic perfected by fascist regimes to incite “Us vs Them” divisiveness and political enmity. Trump has employed this destructive strategy from the start of his brief political career in order to inflame his glassy-eyed disciples with the hatred that seethes from his every pore.

Trump has never cared about the welfare of the nation or its people. He is only concerned with himself and how he can fleece the dimwits he’s managed to bamboozle. And Gaetz has apparently dived head first into the very same pattern of con artistry. Does he really think that strategy will bring him salvation? Well, it doesn’t matter so long as it brings in the bucks.

Tucker Carlson of Fox News Fears Democrats are ‘Importing New Voters’ to ‘Replace’ Him

The flaming racism on Fox News continues to be the core of its editorial policy. It’s a theme that is repeated on multiple programs, especially during primetime with their openly bigoted hosts, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, and Fox’s Senior White Nationalist, Tucker Carlson.

Fox News, Tucker Carlson, Klan

On Thursday night Carlson made some of the most overtly racist comments he’s ever lowered himself to utter. Which is saying something, considering the hundreds of examples that have been documented. His remarks amounted to a full-throated endorsement of the repugnant “White Replacement Theory” that is a foundational principle of the world’s worst hate-mongers. It was the stated motivation behind numerous mass shootings including those at a mall El Paso, Texas, a Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and mosques in Christchurch, NZ. Those mass murderers explicitly referenced it in their manifestos. And let’s not forget Trump’s “very fine people” in Charlottesville, Virginia who marched through the streets chanting Jews will not replace us.” Now Carlson is doing the same.

Carlson felt so strongly about promulgating this rancid rhetoric that he appeared as a guest on another program, Fox News Primetime, hosted this week by Mark Steyn. While there he delivered an explicit sermon on white replacement saying that…

“[T]he government shows preference to people who have shown absolute contempt for our customs, our laws, our system itself and they are being treated better than American citizens.”

Carlson is trying to incite the anger of his racist viewers by lying about “contemptable” immigrants receiving benefits that aren’t available to the oppressed white citizens. He continues saying that…

“Now, I know that the left and all the little gatekeepers on Twitter become literally hysterical if you use the term “replacement,” if you suggest that the Democratic Party is trying to replace the current electorate, the voters now casting ballots, with new people, more obedient voters from the Third World. But they become hysterical because that’s what’s happening actually.”

Apparently Carlson knows that the white replacement theory rhetoric is offensive, but chooses to articulate it anyway. That’s how committed he is to it. And he’s working hard to frighten his dimwitted audience. He continues saying that…

“If you change the population, you dilute the political power of the people who live there. So every time they import a new voter, I become disenfranchised as a current voter.”

Here Carlson is peddling the nauseating notion of voters being “imported” to “dilute the political power” of his white brethren. He continues saying that…

“This is a voting right question. I have less political power because they are importing a brand new electorate. Why should I sit back and take that?”

Carlson couldn’t care less about voting rights. His problem with what he calls a “brand new electorate” is that they are dark-skinned people from third-world countries. Never mind that they can’t vote, and that the process for becoming citizens, even for legal immigrants, can take more than ten years. But Fox News wants to make people believe that Democrats are recruiting illegal immigrant, drug-dealing, sex trafficking, MS-13 gang members, to come to the U.S. and be rewarded with voting privileges upon arrival.

This sick deception is exacerbated by Carlson’s opposition to “those people” voting here in the U.S., even if they are natural born citizens. There is a brand new electorate with every new generation. That’s why he supports the voter suppression bills being advanced in states like Georgia and Texas, where the LatinX population is growing faster than that of whites. Those bills are squarely aimed at people of color and, by golly, Carlson isn’t gonna sit back and take it.

This isn’t the first time Carlson has gone down the white replacement road. Just last month he ranted about Democrats allegedly “packing the electorate” with immigrants. He called it an issue that “we know for certain will change the country forever.” He frequently maligns people of color as “dirty,” and diversity as a threat to “traditional” America. And he’s doing it all with the knowledge and approval of his bosses at Fox News. And America should not sit back and take it.

UPDATE: The Anti-Defamation League has sent a letter to the Fox News CEO, Suzanne Scott, demanding that Carlson be fired. “Given his long record of race-baiting,” the letter says, “we believe it is time for Carlson to go.” It elaborates that…

“Last night, in a segment on his program dealing with voting rights and allegations of voter disenfranchisement, Tucker Carlson disgustingly gave an impassioned defense of the white supremacist “great replacement theory,” […] this is not legitimate political discourse. It is dangerous race-baiting, extreme rhetoric. And yet, unfortunately, it is the culmination of a pattern of increasingly divisive rhetoric used by Carlson over the past few years.

Despite the fact that Carlson has already lost most of his national advertisers (MyPillow is currently his top account), Fox will still probably be too scared of their white supremacist viewers to cancel Carlson. Meanwhile, The Daily Show put together a supercut of how Carlson “plagiarized” white nationalist mass shooters.
