WTF? Flaming Liar Tucker Carlson Yaps that Gavin Newsom’s ‘Words Have No Connection to Reality’

The past few weeks have been among the most devastating for Fox News as damning revelations about the flagrant dishonesty at the ultra-rightist network have been publicly exposed. Private internal communications by Fox News executives and hosts were revealed in the course of the billion dollar defamation lawsuit against Fox by Dominion Voting systems.

Fox News, Tucker Carlson, Bullshit Factory

Perhaps the most damaging disclosures were those wherein Fox’s top primetime host, Tucker Carlson, was found to be a shameless liar who placed his greed and ratings above his obligation to be truthful. The texts and emails that Dominion acquired showed that Carlson, and many of his Fox colleagues, presented themselves to their glassy-eyed viewers as unflinchingly loyal supporters of Donald Trump, while revealing their “passionate hatred” for him privately.

RELATED: In Dominion v Fox News, Network Cries ‘We Can’t Make People Think We’ve Turned Against Trump’

The evidence that Fox News deliberately defamed Dominion is rock solid. They knew that they were lying on the air all along, but did so anyway out of fear of losing viewers. Sean Hannity even admitted that he “did not believe [Trump’s election fraud lies] for one second,” while insisting to his audience that the alleged fraud was real and rampant.

All of this makes Carlson’s commentary Monday night especially disgusting. In his opening monologue, Carlson spent nearly twenty minutes maligning California Governor Gavin Newsom, who Carlson thinks could be the next Democratic candidate for president in 2024. His rant was riddled with typical right-wing lunacies such as his warped explanation for the Democrats nominating Joe Biden in 2020 because “the anti-White party picked the White guy.” Then he absurdly theorized that in 2024…

“[Y]ou would assume the party, the Democratic Party, would replace Joe Biden with someone who embodies their highest values. You imagine a trans-Black woman with a background in corporate H.R. or a Latinx drag queen with purple hair and lots of face piercings.”

A more plausible assumption would be that Carlson is abusing some pretty powerful hallucinogenic drugs. Either that or he’s eaten some rotten frozen fish sticks. Either of those mind altering experiences would still come up short in explaining what he said next. Following a clip of Newsom criticizing Ron DeSantis who, just days after the mass shooting in Nashville, signed a bill that allows people to carry concealed guns without a permit, Carlson unleashed this crackpottery…

“This is what to happens with everything about you, from your physical features to your very soul, has been altered by cosmetic surgery. Just like Joe Biden, but younger. You’ll say literally anything. Words have no connection to reality. There’s no expectation you’re describing something real. You’re merely using words as a tool to gain power. That’s terrifying. It’s dishonest to its core.”

So Carlson thinks that Newsom has had cosmetic surgery on his soul? Setting aside the idiocy of that, Carlson’s criticisms of Newsom sound strikingly familiar. That’s because they are precisely the criticisms that have been leveled at Carlson for most of his career on television. The Dominion lawsuit has proved that his “Words have no connection to reality.” And as for having “no expectation [Carlson is] describing something real,” just refer to what his own Fox News lawyers said about him in a previous lawsuit in his defense…

“[Carlson] cannot be understood to have been stating facts, but instead that he was delivering an opinion using hyperbole for effect. [and that] given Mr. Carlson’s reputation, any reasonable viewer ‘arrive[s] with an appropriate amount of skepticism’ about the statements he makes.”

In other words, Carlson is a notorious liar whose commentaries can be dismissed out of hand as the ravings of an unhinged, warbling whack job. And yet he has the gall to project his glaring character flaws onto others with no coherent connection. Which ironically validates what he said about Newsom, except directing it instead to himself: Carlson is “merely using words as a tool to gain power. That’s terrifying. It’s dishonest to its core.” Indeed!

WOW! Sean Hannity and Ted Cruz Agree that Trafficking Migrants Across State Lines is Illegal

In the past few weeks Greg Abbott and Ron DeSantis, the governors of Texas and Florida respectively, have been in the news for engaging in deplorable political stunts that are deliberately cruel and probably illegal. They have been transporting migrants from their states to other states that they regard as bastions of liberalism hundreds of miles away. It is a brazenly inhumane campaign of exploitation that uses these refugees as pawns in their partisan game playing.

Fox News, Sean Hannity

These repulsive, self-serving tactics by ambitious Republican politicians are intended only to humiliate their liberal counterparts and progressive, compassionate policies. They are conducted without the slightest regard for the welfare of the their human victims, including children, or for solutions to the underlying issues. Not that Republicans in the era of Donald Trump ever really cared about people or laws.

RELATED: Obviously Addled Trump Utterly Misconstrues Report that the FBI Paid a Russian Informant

Which makes it somewhat surprising to hear Sean Hannity interviewing GOP Sen. Ted Cruz on Fox News about the potential criminality of these actions. The discussion included the following exchange…

Hannity: From a legal standpoint, let’s say I went down to the border and I brought a big truck with me and I picked up a bunch of illegal immigrants and I started transporting them across the country. Would I, or would I not likely be arrested for human trafficking, and would it be illegal to do that?
Cruz: For you, a citizen, you could easily be arrested. Although, to be honest, Joe Biden’s Justice Department wouldn’t arrest you.
Hannity: Oh no. I disagree. They’d arrest me. If I was a liberal I’d get away with it.

So there you have it. Hannity and Cruz agree that trafficking migrants across state lines, and lying to them about their destination, would be illegal and likely lead to their arrest. That’s a position that concurs with many legal experts. Gavin Newsom, the governor of California, formally requested the Department of Justice to investigate whether federal laws were broken. In his letter to the DoJ Newsom said that…

“Like millions of Americans, I have been horrified at the images of migrants being shipped on buses and planes across the country to be used as political props. Clearly, transporting families, including children, across state lines under false pretenses is morally reprehensible, but it may also be illegal.”

Elaborating on his dubious legal acumen, Cruz goes on to call President Biden “the biggest human trafficker on the face of the planet.” Naturally, he didn’t bother to supply any coherent support for that hyperbolic nonsense.

It is likely that Hannity and Cruz would justify their remarks by trying to distinguish the legal differences between private citizens like themselves trafficking migrants, and government agencies doing so. However, neither Abbott nor DeSantis attributed their migrant relocation program to any official arm of their state governments, nor did they cite any legal statute that permitted it. So they were acting as individuals, while spending (wasting) millions of taxpayer funds.

What’s more, they purposefully refused to notify the states where they sent the migrants so that preparation could be made for their arrival. But they did notify Fox News. Which is further evidence that this was a political act, not one under the auspices of the state government.

Consequently, the mutual conclusions by Hannity and Cruz that such activities would be illegal is a significant event. They are affirming that Abbott and DeSantis should be investigated for crimes and indicted if sufficient evidence is found. And unlike most of what these two cretins say, that’s a conclusion that most Americans who believe in law and order, and equal justice, would agree with.

‘THIS IS SICK!’ Fox News Hack Supports COVID For Kids

From the outset of the coronavirus pandemic, Fox News has recklessly spread disinformation that has cost people their lives. Echoing Donald Trump, they have belittled the risks, prescribed quack cures, and generally dissuaded people from taking common sense precautions like wearing face masks and getting vaccinated. As a resulted the nation is now suffering from the Fox News Pandemic.

Fox News, Vaccine

On Monday morning California Governor Gavin Newsom announced a statewide mandate for all eligible children to be vaccinated in order to attend in-person schooling once there is a full FDA approval. This is a practical step aimed at mitigating the spread of the virus and saving lives. So naturally, Fox News is virulently opposed to it. And within minutes of the announcement Fox contributor Lisa Boothe tweeted her knee-jerk response:

Boothe’s claim that “students have an almost 100% chance of survival” is both false and grossly insensitive. While the rate of serious illness in children is lower than for adults adults, it is not 0%. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics there were 243,373 new cases among kids over the past week, a 240% increase since early July. Children made up to 4% of patients who were hospitalized for Covid-19. And the CDC has reported 523 deaths among people younger than 18 in the United States.

You have to wonder what Boothe considers to be an acceptable number of child deaths. And Boothe doesn’t bother to address the fact that there are often health problems that persist for weeks and months in patients who survive. What’s more, even children who are asymptomatic can transmit the virus to their parents, grandparents, siblings, teachers, and innumerable others with whom they come into contact. Many of those adults could suffer more severe consequences.

It’s notable that Fox News hosts, contributors, and guests, regularly condemn any efforts to mandate vaccinations or testing regimens. However, they also neglect to disclose to their viewers the corporate policy at Fox that requires all employees to report their vaccination status and, if unvaccinated, to submit to daily testing.

So the policy that Gov. Newsom is implementing is not much different than the one that Boothe, and all of her Fox News confederates, are required to abide by. It is also not much different than the current school policy that already mandates vaccines for measles, mumps, rubella, polio, chicken pox, and others. Which only affirms the rank hypocrisy of Boothe and all the other Fox News “doctors” feigning outrage, while giving dangerous and ignorant advice to their dimwitted viewers.

Fox News Online Quashes Coverage of Newsom’s Landslide Victory Over Recall and Trump-ism

The election to recall the governor of California went down in flames on Tuesday. Gavin Newsom defeated the blatantly partisan Republican sham with a whopping 28 point margin of victory. The results exceeded the predictions of recent polls and the race was called within an hour of the closing of the polls.

Fox News, Censorship

The outcome was a crushing blow to the GOP’s already Lilliputian stature in the Golden State. But it was also a striking repudiation of Donald Trump and his surly surrogate, Larry Elder. The parallels between Trump and Elder should have been a signal to California’s Republicans that Elder could not prevail. He even parroted Trump’s knee-jerk reaction to electoral drubbings by baselessly charging that the the election was rigged before any of the results were even tabulated.

Elder may have been fooled by the adoring coverage he got from Fox News He appeared on the network dozens of times prior to the election for interviews that were little more than campaign ads. So it shouldn’t surprise anyone to learn that after the election Fox News has imposed “radio silence” with regard to reporting Newsom’s triumph.

More than twelve hours after the race was called for Newsom, Fox News has not posted a single tweet announcing that Newsom had won. Although they did find time to tweet about the “volatile” Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne relationship, Nicki Minaj’s views on vaccines, and Rand Paul calling for another Biden staffer to be removed.

What’s more, Fox’s website also suppressed information about the recall results. There were no stories near the top of the page, but if you scrolled far enough down you would only find tangential and negatively framed articles such as…

  • Celebrities react to Gov. Gavin Newsom’s victory in his recall election
Because that’s the most important post-election analysis Fox News could muster.
  • Newest CNN hire faces backlash after comments on Newsom recall
Because reporting on other reporters takes priority over reporting actual news.
  • LA Times celebrates Gavin Newsom’s recall win over ‘extremist, intolerant’ Larry Elder: ‘A sigh of relief’
Because Fox News can’t resist accusing other media of political bias.
  • Joe Concha: Newsom victory won’t erase California’s homelessness, crime, high taxes
Because Fox apparently thinks that all political problems should be resolved a few hours after an election

Fox News spent many hours in the months before the recall election interviewing Elder and other Republican politicians and pundits. The election was cast a watershed event that would reveal the future course of California and the nation. But that was when Fox thought there was a chance that Newsom would lose. Now that he has achieved a resounding victory, Fox News is trying to pretend that the election never happened.

Don’t be surprised if Fox News never mentions the recall again. In fact, look for them to return to lying about Afghanistan, and defending the January 6th insurrectionists, and blaming low vaccination rates on Biden and Black Americans, and whatever other manufactured nonsense they’re cooking up. It’s what they do. And they won’t tolerate any real news getting in their way.

Larry Elder is Already Using Trump’s ‘Rigged Election’ Excuses for When He Loses the Recall

The election to recall California Governor Gavin Newsom is just a week away. The outcome could upend national politics if Newsom is recalled and Larry Elder, a radical right-wing radio talk show host, is elected. He has already promised to appoint a Republican should Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s seat become available. That would hand the Senate majority to the GOP and Mitch McConnell.

Donald Trump, Larry Elder

For the time being, most polls are showing that Newsom is ahead. A majority of Californians say that they are voting “No” on the recall. But the dynamics of an off-year, special election are difficult to predict. So much depends on motivation and turnout. There is, therefore, no leeway for complacency. Everyone needs to be on full alert to get out the vote of their friends, neighbors, and even strangers, who will vote against the recall.

Among those who are paying close attention to the polls is Trump Republican, Larry Elder. He was interviewed on the Fox News program MediaBuzz with Howard Kurtz on Sunday. In between his well rehearsed campaign talking points, Elder revealed just how worried he is about his potential defeat. During the interview he made a point of embracing Donald Trump’s “Big Lie” that the 2020 presidential election was stolen from him (video below at 4:36). Elder said that…

“I don’t believe the election was won fairly and squarely – and by the way, that quote was truncated – I also went on to say there were shenanigans. We know there were shenanigans in Michigan, shenanigans in Wisconsin, in Pennsylvania.

“We know the Hunter Biden story was spiked. And enough Biden voters say that had they known about that Hunter Biden story that was spiked by Twitter – and the New York Post had their own Twitter account shut down – had they known about that story they wouldn’t have voted for Biden.

“And we know that for two and a half years Donald Trump was pursued by this bogus Russia collusion story. So there are all sorts of reasons why the 2020 election was, in my opinion, full of shenanigans. And my fear is that they’re gonna try that in this election right here in recall.”

First of all, let’s dispose of Elder’s Hunter Biden deflection. He’s referring to assertions by Brent Bozell of the uber-conservative Media Research Center (MRC). Bozell claims to have conducted a survey that found that 4.6% of Democrats said they would not have voted for Joe Biden had they known this story. [FYI: That would not have been enough to change the outcome of the election]. Needless to say, the disreputable and biased MRC survey cannot be taken seriously. Bozell is, after all, a fully indoctrinated Trump-fluffer who, when asked about the violent January 6th insurrection in Washington, D.C., defended the rioters saying that “They are furious that they believe this election was stolen. I agree with them.” And his son was arrested and charged for his participation in the riots.

Following Elder’s election fraud fear mongering, he gave out his website address and encouraged his listeners to be on the lookout for voter fraud. “Whenever you hear anything,” Elder pleaded, “see anything suspicious, go to my website. We have a battery of lawyers. We’re gonna file lawsuits in a timely fashion this time.”

So Elder is employing Trump’s “rigged election” tactics early. He is preparing for what he apparently believes is a good probability of his losing. After he which he will emulate his mentor, Trump, and refused to concede, while he makes baseless challenges to the election results and – just like Trump – undermines American democracy.

This is apparently going to be a standard feature of sore loser campaigns by Republicans going forward. And by embracing whining as a tactic they are virtually assuring that will lose even more frequently.

In Deranged Tweets Trump Says that All California Votes ‘Must Not Count’

The evidence of Donald Trump’s mental infirmity continues to pile up. On a daily basis he openly exhibits an unbridled rage at those he fears. He proclaims that he has the “total authority” of the tyrants he admires. With paranoid fervor he regards every critic as a “hater” who is out to get him. He ignores the suffering and death caused by COVID-19 (coronavirus) while focusing furiously on his abysmal polling. And he refuses to accept responsibility for any of his actions, while vainly shifting blame to others.

Donald Trump, Constitution

The psychoses of Trump could fill a textbook on sociopaths and narcissists. The latest example of the severity of his psychological degradation was displayed in another Twitter outburst on Saturday morning. This one was boiling over with fear and desperation as he lashed out incoherently at Americans who happen to live in California.

Seriously, what on Earth is he ranting about? Californians have had access to mail-in voting for years. The only new twist is that Gov. Gavin Newsom just signed an executive order sending ballots to all registered voters in the state. They are not obligated to use them, but they have the choice. And that freedom, that makes voting easier for everyone, is what Trump believes is a “SCAM!” Consequently, in his diseased mind, all the votes of American citizens in California “must not count.” What sort of madness produces this disgustingly undemocratic – and un-American – idiocy?

Trump’s tweet also makes the bizarre assertion that a voting booth was just opened “in the most Democrat area in the State.” Does anyone know what he’s even talking about anymore? There are voting booths in every district. Does he think that predominantly Democratic districts shouldn’t have them? Is the prospect of Democrats voting the basis for his complaint that “It’s all rigged out there”?

UPDATE: In another tweet, Trump elaborated on his curious remarks about new voting booths. Apparently he thinks that voting in California is “supposed to be mail in ballots only.” He is wrong, of course. And he’s demonstrating how pitiful he is at comprehending what’s going on around him.

Trump continued to address the matter of mail-in voting in his very next tweet, which promoted a Republican candidate. Except in that tweet Trump completely reversed himself himself noting that in this special election there is mail-in voting and offering this reminder to his cult followers: “Mail in ballots, & check that they are counted!” Really? So for Republicans mail-in voting isn’t a scam and those votes should be counted? And a couple of tweets later Trump declares that the whole “CA25 is a Rigged Election.”

The question of mail-in voting is a touchy subject for Trump and all Republicans. They have always had a mortal fear of expanding the electorate. Trump recently said the quiet part out loud with a rant about mail-in voting wherein he whined that “They had levels of voting, that if you ever agreed to it you’d never have a Republican elected in this country again.” Trump is afraid because he knows that the more people who vote, the less likely it is that he will be reelected. Republicans at large have the same fear.

This fear is what is driving Trump’s assault on the U.S. Postal Service. His hostility to this agency, that is explicitly authorized by the Constitution, is rooted in his jealousy of and contempt for Jeff Bezos, a real billionaire and the owner of Amazon and the Washington Post. In a rancid screed last month Trump called the Postal Service “a joke,” and threatened to withhold funding if they didn’t quadruple their rates. That, of course, would put an enormous burden on every business, as well as every American wanting to wish their grandmas a happy birthday.

Trump’s nauseating attack on democracy must not be ignored or normalized. He needs to be called out for this obvious grasping of totalitarian rule. This week Trump appointed a new postmaster general who just happens to be a major Trump ally and donor. That confirms that he is serious about sabotaging the Post Office for his own nefarious political advantage. And we, the people, must not allow him to get away with it.
