Bill Barr Tells Fox News that Durham’s Failure to Railroad Clinton Lawyer Was a Victory

Fox News is well known as a brazenly partisan and dishonest purveyor of propaganda that exists only to serve the political interests of the Republican Party and that panders to Donald Trump and his cult disciples. It was never intended to be a legitimate “news” enterprise, and in that respect it has lived up to its mission.

William Barr, Donald Trump

Among the skills that Fox News has honed over the years is one that facilitates turning bad news into some ludicrous reimagining of reality that better fits their preordained narratives. And on Wednesday there was a textbook example of their mastery of that method of mangling the news during an episode of Jesse Watters’ program. Watters invited Trump’s former Attorney Genuflect, Bill Barr, on for a segment of misinformation regarding the acquittal of Michael Sussmann, a Hillary Clinton campaign lawyer who was hounded by Barr’s special counsel, John Durham.

Durham’s mandate was to invent legal distractions in an effort to vindicate Trump by fabricating phony charges of misconduct related to his unsavory connections to Russia. Durham never had a shred of evidence to justify his probe, which the jury recognized and quickly found Sussmann not guilty.

RELATED: Crybaby Trump FREAKS OUT Over the Durham Nothingburger Resulting in Acquittal of Clinton Lawyer

The typically softball interview of Barr allowed him paint a preposterous picture of the outcome of the trial. In the retelling of the story by Watters and Barr, Durham was actually victorious:

Watters: Do you feel in any way responsible for how this Durham situation is unfolding, and are you disappointed in John Durham?
Barr: No, I’m very proud of John Durham and I do take responsibility for his appointment. And I think he and his team did an exceptionally able job both seeking out very important facts and presenting a compelling case to the jury. And while he did not succeed in getting a conviction from the D.C. jury, I think he accomplished something far more important. Which is he brought out the truth in two important areas.

First, I think he crystalized the central role played by the Hillary campaign in launching as a dirty trick the whole Russia-gate collusion narrative, and fanning the flames of it. And second, I think he exposed really dreadful behavior by supervisors in the senior ranks of the FBI who knowingly used this information to start an investigation of Trump, and then duped their own agents by lying to them, and refusing to tell them what the real source of that information was.

It’s nice that Barr takes responsibility for the debacle that he so terribly mismanaged. However, his assessment of the results is purely delusional. If losing the most important case that the special counsel has brought to trial is representative of “an exceptionally able job,” you really have to wonder what Barr’s notion of failure is.

What Barr is arguing is that it isn’t important that his prosecutor’s case was entirely dismissed by the jury. What’s important in Barr’s view is that, in the process, a bunch of lies were propagated that he believes will have a negative effect on Clinton specifically, and Democrats generally. He’s outright admitting that the entire Durham probe was just a scam to harm his political foes.

However, what Barr identified as accomplishments that are greater than conviction were figments of his imagination. Durham utterly failed to “crystalize” Clinton’s role in launching dirty tricks. At best he revealed something that everyone already knows: that political campaigns – all of them – engage in opposition research. And there is no way that Clinton’s reputation was hurt by this show trial, because the right-wingers who paid any attention to it already regard Clinton as Satan in a pant suit.

Finally, Durham failed in his prime directive to deflect from Trump’s myriad criminal activities. If anything, he reminded people that Trump is still the subject of numerous investigations that are likely to lead to indictments. And he triggered an outraged Trump, who felt compelled to vent on his failing social media website, TRUTH Social.

In the end, the only thing that Barr and Fox News accomplished was to affirm that their motives are entirely partisan and have nothing to do with the law. It’s a deception that may tittilate Fox News viewers, but will have zero impact on the population at large. Just as Barr’s and Durham’s fictions had zero impact on the Sussmann jury.

Boring Biden? Fox News is Very Upset that Biden Isn’t a Hyper-Psycho Drama Queen Like Trump

When Fox News isn’t complaining that President Biden is mentally incompetent (a diagnosis that the American people find more applicable to Donald Trump), they are grousing about how he is an over zealous radical tyrant riding roughshod over conservative “values.” How he can be both an addled wimp and an evil genius remains a mystery.

Joe Biden, Donald Trump

The whiners at Fox News don’t really care if their criticisms are true, or even if they make sense. The only thing that matters is that they have a rhetorical cudgel with which to beat up on Biden. And even when they have nothing, they will try to deploy that nothingness as a weapon. It’s a pathetic tactic that only exposes how vacant their political strategies are. And leading Fox News in the cognitive vacancy department is their Primetime host, Jesse Watters.

RELATED: Trump’s Twitter Proxy Implies Biden is Mentally Unsound for Referring to Notes, But Guess What?

On Friday evening Watters was clearly out of political spitballs. So he resorted to the hackery that the absence of scandal is scandalous. His harangue (video below) was based on an article in Politico, a source usually regarded as “fake” news by the Fox set. Except when they think they can spin it to their advantage. He began with an old and regularly recurring trope that Biden is “just boring,” and elaborated saying that…

“…he promised to be boring, and he’s doing everything he can to keep that pledge. And they’re not wrong. Joe doesn’t even schmooze these peeps in D.C. And for a Democrat, that is a sin. He spends almost every weekend in Delaware. The guy just loves his basement. Presidents are supposed to excite the Washington establishment, but Joe is doing the exact opposite.”

RELATED: Fox News Attempts (and Hysterically Fails) to Contrive a Fake Biden Scandal

Apparently Watters believes that it’s the President’s job to “schmooze” the elites in Washington. And if he isn’t doing that, he’s derelict in his duties. Although that standard was never in place for Trump, whose social interactions with anyone who wasn’t a slobbering sycophant were invariably disastrous and vulgar. What’s more, Watters complains that Biden was holed up in his basement. That, of course, is a routine right-wing lie by partisans who never cared about Trump spending hundreds of days (and millions of taxpayer dollars) at his own golf resorts.

Watters also spoke of “exciting” the Washington establishment as an official duty. He lamented the lack of “presidential sightings,” “black-tie banquets,” and “Glamorous new aides, preferably with active social schedules and newsworthy romantic lives!” Unfortunately, Biden preferred to waste his time with trivialities like managing a deadly pandemic, restoring the economy, and responding to the genocidal attack by Russia on Ukraine, to name a few.

Watters was also disturbed that Biden didn’t attend the exclusive Gridiron Dinner this week. He sent Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo instead. But as Watters noted, it was a good thing that he passed, because many of the guests contracted COVID. For which Watters had another negative spin, saying – and virtually hoping – that “Eventually, Biden is going to catch COVID, it’s bound to happen and you’ll never see Biden or another party again.” Watters seems to be laying the groundwork for his next manufactured scandal.

RELATED: Fox Family Values: Tucker Carlson Viciously Mocks Media and – Biden’s Marriage?

What conservative crackpots like Watters mean when they talk about Biden being boring, is that he doesn’t excrete the same noxious hysteria and hostility that was the hallmark of the Trump era. Even Politico’s article conceded that it wasn’t so much Biden’s lack of substantive excitement, but rather engaging PR. “The majesty of the White House,” Politico wrote, “the star power of the inner circle — these are tools that can be harnessed to charm decision-makers and narrative-writers.” That’s true, but it was too nuanced for someone as shallow as Watters to wade through.

Consequently, America is saddled with the asinine assertions of cretins like Watters who struggle to invent scandals where none exist. That’s why then end up accusing Biden of such atrocities as wearing a face mask, or riding a bike, or picking a dandelion for his wife, or eating ice cream…

Fox News Cuts Off Hillary Clinton So They Can Lie More About Spying on Trump that Never Happened

The editorial propagandists at Fox News are apparently unsatisfied with lying about President Biden’s economic successes, or whose side America should take between Ukraine and Russia, or the anti-vax Canadian trucker convoy. So they are reprising an old favorite political foil that they frequently fall back on when their other horror stories just aren’t cutting it.

Fox News, Hillary Clinton

For much of the day on Thursday, Fox News promoted a speech by Hillary Clinton at a Democratic conference in New York. They repeatedly promised to cover what the former First Lady, U.S. Senator, and Secretary of State would be saying at the event. However, when it came time to actually put Clinton on the air, Fox News played about thirty seconds of her speech before interrupting it to dump a load of bona fide bullpucky that had nothing to do with what she was saying. And by some curious coincidence, they cut her off just as she began to criticize Dear Leader Donald Trump and his Republican Apostles of Asininity:

Clinton: We must reject the ‘Big Lie’ about the 2020 election and the cover up of the insurrection on January 6th…
Martha MacCallum: Alright, Hillary Clinton hitting some familiar themes here as she gets louder at the podium there in New York City, talking about January 6th, says it was a gift to China. Talking about unity and democracy, all of that, of course, at the same time as John Durham continues the investigation into whether or not her campaign was involved in an effort to listen in to president Trump, or listen in to candidate Trump. So all of that will play out in the courtroom as that unfolds in May. But right now a lot of speculation about whether or not Hillary Clinton sees weakness in the current President. Whether or not she sees an opportunity for herself in 2024 perhaps. And is this a moment where she’s starting to put herself back on the public stage.

Notice that MacCallum (who derisively described Clinton as getting louder, even though her voice doesn’t change at all) couldn’t allow Clinton to mention Trump’s “Big Lie” about the 2020 election or the violent insurrection and coup attempt that he incited. That Foxish heresy had to be nipped in the bud. But more importantly, MacCallum blatantly lied about the “Durham Nothingburger,” a court filing containing information that was all previously reported, but that is now being misconstrued to accuse Clinton and her campaign of spying on Trump. MacCallum actually takes the lie about alleged spying farther than most of her colleagues by asserting that Clinton sought “to listen in to president Trump.”

For the record, special counsel John Durham never alleged that there was any surveillance of conversations whatsoever. His filing only addressed some tracking of publicly available Internet activity. It’s something like reporting that two phones had connected, but not having any access to anything that was said by either party. What’s more, Durham’s filing clearly states that the period of time that Internet activity was being monitored was during President Obama’s term, not Trump’s. So everything that MacCallum, and the rest of the right-wing echo chamber, have been raging about is totally bogus, as usual.

Fox’s Jesse Watters went even farther to invent a scandal that has no basis in reality. On his program Thursday he said that Durham’s documents showed that Clinton’s people not only hacked into Trump’s computers, but that they “planted evidence that he colluded with Russia. Yeah. You heard that right.” This is devolving into National Enquirer style “alien babies” idiocy.

RELATED: WTF? Giuliani Says He’s Stashed ‘Evidence’ Against Hillary Clinton in His Bedroom for Years

Finally, MacCallum felt compelled to contribute some ridiculous speculation that Clinton is plotting a return to the campaign trail, adding that her supposed ambition was because she “sees weakness” in Biden. All of that is straight out of MacCallum’s warped imagination as Clinton has not done or said anything that would suggest she was considering running again, or that she was critical of Biden. However, she did have something to say about Fox News:

“They’ve been coming after me again lately, thank you. You might have noticed. It’s funny, the more trouble Trump gets into, the wilder the charges and conspiracy theories about me seem to get. So now his accountants have fired him, and investigations drop closer to him, and right on cue, the noise machine gets turned up, doesn’t it? Fox leads the charge with accusations against me, counting on their audience to fall for it again. And as an aside, they’re getting awfully close to actual malice in their attacks.”

That reference to “actual malice” is the legal standard for establishing defamation, if she were to file a lawsuit. While Clinton is unlikely to sue Fox News, she is putting them on notice that their lies are out of bounds and could place them in legal jeopardy. Sean Hannity heard this and dared her to “bring it on.” He will sorely regret it if he actually gets his wish.

Fox News Openly Encourages Violence Against Democrats: ‘We Need These Lawmakers to Be Victims’

On January 6th, 2021, Donald Trump instigated a violent insurrection, sending his cult disciples to attack members of Congress in order to prevent them from carrying out their constitutional duty to certify the results of the 2020 presidential election. Many people were terrorized and injured, including more than 140 police officers, five of whom died.

Fox News, Terrorism

Apparently that wasn’t sufficient for Fox News, who justified and applauded that violence. In the months that have followed they affirmed their support for hostile actions aimed at imposing their ultra-rightist tyranny on America. Their thirst for blood is made shamelessly evident on a near nightly basis. It can be seen in recent surveys that show just how far the right has devolved:

“Polling indicates that 30 percent of Republicans, and 40 percent of people who ‘most trust’ far-right news sources, believe that ‘true patriots’ may have to resort to violence to ‘save’ the country — a statement that gets far less support among Democrats and independents.”

On Thursday Fox News provided additional proof that violence is not merely a tangential consequence of their dreams for a despotic dystopia. It is a fully integrated tactic they are deploying in pursuit of their maniacal mission. Fox host Griff Jenkins interviewed Joseph Imperatrice, the founder of Blue Lives Matter, in a segment about a shooting that threatened Democratic Rep. Cori Bush:

Jenkins: Now we see Cori Bush, liberal Democrat from St. Louis, Missouri, saying on Twitter that her car was hit with bullets. Her car was shot. No one was in it, fortunately. But will these lawmakers change their tune?
Imperatrice: The harsh truth is we need these lawmakers to be victims. We need them to understand when the worst situation possible hits them, and then they can turn around and say, ‘Wow, maybe it’s an issue. Maybe I need to wake up and do my job and change things for the better. I’m not praying any of these people get hurt or harmed, but they need to see firsthand how bad the streets really are.
Jenkins: Of course, we would never wish any harm whatsoever on any American, let alone a politician we disagreed with. But the instances we did see – two instances of carjacking, fortunately, everyone was OK – maybe it will change their minds. Who knows?

WHUT? Imperatrice’s disgusting assertion “we need these lawmakers to be victims” would not be tolerated by any decent TV network. Which explains why Fox News not only tolerated it, but agreed with it.

Both Imperatrice and Jenkins tried to water down their horrendous support for domestic terrorism by inserting a disingenuous disclaimer that they don’t wish any harm on anyone. However, saying that they don’t wish any harm but they need to see firsthand” violence, or but…maybe it will change their minds,” immediately contradicts the statement and serves as a justification for the harm they pretend to oppose, but overtly advocated.

Fox News isn’t going to be happy until we are in the midst of a full scale civil war. It is what they are promoting via their support for the insurrection and Trump’s “Big Lie” that the 2020 election was “rigged” and “stolen.” It was explicitly articulated at the recent Turning Point USA conference (of which is Fox News is a sponsor), where an attendee asked “When do we get to use the guns? How many elections are they going to steal before we kill these people?”

Other blatant calls for violence include Jesse Watters urging his audience to go in with the kill shot if they see Dr. Anthony Fauci in public. Also, Laura Ingraham recently applauded, literally, the news that the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Mark Milley, had tested positive for COVID.

These are not rare occurrences. Sadly, these sort of abhorrent remarks are all too common on Fox News. They are frequent and deliberate and no one should doubt that they mean what they say.

Eric Trump Tells the Truth on Fox News About His Lazy Father Who ‘Sat There 24 Hours a Day’

There has been a raging debate in the metaverse about who is the dumber spawn of Donald Trump. Is it Don Jr, who recently attacked President Biden in a video wherein he appeared to be totally wasted? Or is it Eric, who recently whined about getting “subpoena after subpoena,” and then took the fifth Amendment 500 times when he was deposed by New York Attorney General Letitia James?

Donald Trump, Toilet, Bathrobe

It’s a tough call. But Eric isn’t wasting any time trying to beat his older brother out for the dishonor of stupidest Trump progeny. To that end, Eric appeared on the new Jesse Watters Primetime program on Fox News. As is required by contract, he lashed out against Biden and the Democrats in a tirade that sought to compare them to his allegedly workaholic father. Eric said of the Democrats that…

“These people are not present. They’re not fighting for this country. The difference between them and my father, my father sat there 24 hours a day and fought for the United States’ best interests. These people are not fighting. They’ve got no energy. They’ve got no charisma. They have no fight.”

WHUT? First of all, let’s note that the Democrats who Eric is maligning for having “no energy” are the same Democrats that he and the right routinely condemn as being ruthless and relentless defilers of American freedoms. Apparently they are more energetic when trying to destroy the world. But more to the point, Eric’s assertion that his father “sat there 24 hours a day” is actually correct, but not in the way that he intended.

Donald Trump did sit around most of the day. He engaged in what his aides euphemistically called “Executive Time.” Leaked records from Trump’s White House reveal that he spent 60% of his time binge watching right-wing TV, calling the Fox News hosts who served as his shadow cabinet, and rage-tweeting. That was when he wasn’t ranting incoherently at his cult rallies or golfing.

Eric’s wife Lara, a Fox News contributor, spun the same ludicrous tales about Daddy Trump’s vigorous avoidance of work. “I’m old enough to remember,” she lied, “when we had a president who worked all day everyday for the American people.” So apparently she’s old enough to remember all the way back to President Obama.

The Trump family aren’t the only ones spewing revisionist history about the elder Don. His press secretary, Kayleigh McEnany, also visited with Jesse Watters to deliver obvious falsehoods about Trump’s utterly fictional work ethic. She began by casting Trump as a heroic figure who dared to personally challenge the evil coronavirus:

“I worked for a former President, President Trump, who did get COVID-19. Jesse, those were scary times. Because a vaccination wasn’t available at the time. There were therapeutics. But President Trump, we took precautions, you could not stop that man. He knew he was working for the American people getting out on the campaign trail. It was just a much different atmosphere.”

Indeed, you couldn’t stop Trump from infecting guests at White House events, holding massive super-spreader rallies, and even participating in a presidential debate after just testing positive for COVID. However, McEnany contradicted her own characterization of Trump as “working for the American people” by specifying that he was “out on the campaign trail.” That is, by definition, working for his own self-interest.

Trump is irrefutably the laziest president in American history. But there is an argument to be made that the nation benefited from his sloth. Had he been more active, he would have produced more harm. The only pursuits that stimulated him were his perpetual grifting and his post-presidency promulgation of the “Big Lie” that the 2020 election was “rigged.” So here’s hoping that his lethargy continues and advances as time goes on.

Jesse Watters Gets a Primetime Show from Fox News After His ‘Kill Shot’ Rant Against Dr. Fauci

After Donald Trump was evicted from the White House by 81 million American voters, there were some who speculated that Fox News might moderate their fetishistic, ultra-partisan, pro-Trump evangelism, and sprinkle a few facts among their rightist propaganda. And there was a time when that sort of naivete would have been considered cute.

Jesse Watters, Fox News

It’s been more than a year and Fox News has done nothing but accelerate their rabid conservatism. Since Trump became, as Biden calls him, the defeated former president,” Fox News has done stories by Tucker Carlson asserting that Trump’s January 6th insurrection was a “false flag” operation orchestrated by the FBI; viciously and falsely attacking the women of MSNBC; and comparing America’s foremost infectious disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci, to the sadistic Nazi, Josef Mengele.

That’s a small sampling of the fringe, right-wing radicalism that is the mainstay of Fox’s programming. And among the worst offenders is former Bill O’Reilly flunky, and current Trump-fluffer, Jesse Watters, who has been a co-host of Fox’s The Five, as well as the host of his own Saturday show, Watters’ World.’ He built his reputation at Fox by being a stalker/ambush “reporter.” And he suffered no repercussions for having an affair with a much younger subordinate, who he later left his wife and children for.

Now Fox has promoted Watters to a primetime weekday slot. Watters’ new show will fit in nicely with his primetime confederates Laura Ingraham and Sean Hannity, whose complicity with Trump’s criminal administration have recently been exposed.

What’s particularly nauseating about this promotion is that it appears to be a reward for what Watters said last month at the Turning Point USA conference. Watters directed the Trump cultists in the audience to seek out Dr. Fauci in public and, when they find him, to confront him aggressively saying…

“Now you go in with the kill shot. The kill shot with an ambush…deadly. Because with an ambush he doesn’t see it coming. […] BOOM! He is dead. He is dead.””

Those remarks resulted in widespread disgust from reputable journalists and concerned medical professionals, many of whom called for his immediate termination. The danger posed by crafting violent metaphors is real. There are zealots who will, and have, acted them out. But for Fox News it is cause for tribute and career enhancement. And it represents precisely the sort of ethical vacancy that Lachlan and Rupert Murdoch want their company to stand for.

Fox News is SHOCKED that MSNBC’s Joy Reid Rightly Berated Them for Killing Off Their Audience

The faux “journalists” at Fox News have long demonstrated that they have a virtually inexhaustible supply of contrived indignation. They stockpile it for occasions when they are justly accused of moral or ethical wrongdoing for which they have no plausible excuse. Then they unleash their manufactured wrath on those who have correctly criticized them.

Joy Reid, MSNBC

On Sunday’s episode of Fox’s MediaBuzz, host Howard Kurtz was worked up about a segment of MSNBC’s The Reidout wherein Joy Reid made an entirely appropriate observation about how Fox News has exacerbated the COVID pandemic by repeatedly lying about its severity and discouraging – and even mocking – common sense mitigating behavior such as wearing masks and getting vaccinated.

For instance, one of their top shills, Greg Gutfeld, recently upchucked a rancid rant advising his already deluded viewers to forego getting vaccinated or getting boosted because so-called “natural immunity” was better. Never mind that “doctor” Gutfeld’s diagnosis is contrary to all of the medical science on the subject. Likewise, Fox’s relentless campaign of coronavirus disinformation has resulted in a pandemic disparity wherein “counties that went heavily for Donald Trump have seen much lower vaccination rates and much higher death rates from COVID.

Which makes the segment on Sunday’s show all the more loathsome. Kurtz began by acknowledging that “the distrust of vaccines by some on the right is so deeply embedded that even Donald Trump can’t convince people that otherwise support him or follow him to get the shots.” Indeed, Trump was recently booed by his “fans” for admitting that he got the booster shot.

However, Kurtz did not acknowledge that the primary cause of the distrust he spoke of was lies propagated by Fox News. Then Kurtz entered into the following exchange with Emily Jashinsky of the ultra-rightist Federalist:

Kurtz: In his speech, Biden said people’s choices are affected by the dangerous misinformation on cable TV and social media. Okay, but here MSNBC’s Joy Reid went way further than that. Let’s take a look.
Reid (video): Probably the most vaccinated company in America is Fox News. They’re all vaccinated. They’re gonna live through this and let their viewers and their fans die. Because they don’t give a damn. It’s just clicks to them. They don’t care what happens. It’s just fun for them.
Kurtz: So Joy Reid says says Fox News wants you to die. What?
Jashinsky: And that’s exactly what she said. And this is just one of the many fireable offences she commits regularly on that show. Even though under normal standards those would be considered fireable offences. And she gets very little criticism from her peers. This isn’t normal. If somebody on the right said said this it would be a huge story because it’s so outrageous. It’s so extreme. And it’s a great example of why the left, why the Biden White House, why Democrats actually struggle to get those vaccine numbers up.

Kurtz’s response to Reid’s commentary materially misrepresented what she said. Reid didn’t say that “Fox News wants you to die.” She said that Fox is “let]ting] their viewers and their fans die. Because they don’t give a damn.” Letting them die is different than wanting it. Reid was making the point that Fox News was irresponsible and unconcerned with the deadly consequences of their politically motivated lies.

Jashinsky’s remarks were even more removed from reality. Since Reid’s commentary could be supported just by quoting Fox News hacks like Gutfeld and Tucker Carlson (who told viewers that the vaccines don’t work), it could hardly be grounds for termination. On the other hand, no one on Kurtz’s program bothered to mention the nauseating and truly fireable offences of Fox Newsers like Lara Logan (who compared Dr. Fauci to the sadistic and murderous Nazi “doctor” Josef Mengele), or Jesse Watters (who urged his viewers to confront Dr. Fauci and to go in with the kill shot. The kill shot with an ambush […] BOOM! He is dead.”).

The hypocrisy of Fox News is nothing new. It is a network that was founded with a mission to deceive and to advance the interests of the GOP (Greedy One Percent). And it has now evolved into the mouthpiece for the Cult of Trump and the authoritarian dystopia he aspires to rule over. What Reid said about Fox News is unarguably true, and Fox’s denial doesn’t come close to disproving it.

Fox News Host Tells Trump Cult Conference to ‘Go In With The Kill Shot’ Against Dr. Fauci

The descent of Fox News in the dystopian era of Donald Trump has been a chilling spectacle to behold. What was once a flagrantly biased right-wing propaganda outlet that shamelessly lied and twisted reality to advance the Republican agenda, has become a bona fide conspiracy spewing mouthpiece for fringe views and overtly hostile elements of the radical Trumpian right.

Jesse Watters, Fox News

It’s bad enough that Fox News has participated in disseminating Trump’s “Big Lie” that the 2020 presidential election was “rigged” and “stolen” from him. And it’s unconscionable that they have recklessly dismissed the severity of the COVID pandemic (aka the Fox News Pandemic) and encouraged their viewers to reject life-saving mitigation such as getting vaccinated and wearing masks. And it’s downright treasonous that they engaged in purposeful deception to excuse and even condone the violent rioters who stormed the Capitol on January 6th. But Fox News has also deliberately contributed to the inflammatory climate of hostility that has produced threats and attacks on their political adversaries in the reality-based world.

Never satisfied with merely peddling lies and keeping their viewers mired in ignorance, a Fox News host has gone the extra mile to blatantly incite violence against America’s foremost epidemiologist, Dr. Anthony Fauci. Appearing at another super-spreader event thrown by the ultra-rightist, Trump cult front group, Turning Point USA. Fox’s Jesse Watters delivered a particularly nauseating address that contained irresponsible rhetoric that cannot be interpreted as anything other than a threat against Dr. Fauci (video below). Watters directed his audience of malleable-minded Trumpists to seek out Dr. Fauci in public and, when they find him, to confront him aggressively saying…

“Now you go in with the kill shot. The kill shot with an ambush…deadly. Because with an ambush he doesn’t see it coming.”

There is no justification for that sort of deliberately bloodthirsty language. It’s clear that Watters hopes to whip up his audience into an army of domestic terrorists to fan out across the country and threaten anyone that doesn’t submit to the Trump cult’s way of non-thinking. But Watters wasn’t finished. Just to make sure they got his message, he added…

“This is when you say ‘Dr. Fauci, you funded risky research at a sloppy Chinese lab. The same lab that’s thrown this pandemic on the world. You know why people don’t trust you, don’t you? BOOM! He is dead. He is dead.”

So Watters wants Dr. Fauci dead. And the audience cheered these remarks emphatically. Never mind that the script he prepared for his murderous robots was utterly inane. All Fauci would have to say in reply is “None of that is true, but thanks for sharing your opinion.” Then he could continue his meal assuming they didn’t kill him. But Watters still had more to say. He needed to remind his terror recruits what the ultimate purpose of this was…

“Now you get that footage to us, you get it to Fox. You get it to Human Events. You get it to Breitbart. You get it to Daily Caller. You get it to the Turning Point pipeline. Imagine Tucker Carlson teases that in the A block: ‘Coming up. Brave college student confronts Lord Fauci at dinner. Exclusive footage. Right back.’ Get us that. That’s what we want.”

Naturally, it’s all about producing even more propaganda that can be disseminated on Fox News and its wingnut media confederates. This is something that Watters is all too familiar with. He began his career at Fox as a smartass who did ambush interviews for Bill O’Reilly and showed his total lack of morals. For that he was promoted to hosting Fox’s daily The Five and his own weekend program. Also, Watters was working for O’Reilly when Dr. George Tiller was murdered after O’Reilly repeatedly called him “Dr. Tiller the baby killer.” So Watters knows the deadly power of his rancid rhetoric.

For the record, Dr. Fauci responded to this assault saying…

“That’s horrible. And that’s such a reflection of the craziness that goes on in society. The only thing that I have ever done throughout these two years is to encourage people to practice good public health practices: to get vaccinated, to be careful in public settings, to wear a mask. And for that, you have some guy out there saying that people should be giving me a kill shot to ambush me? I mean, what kind of craziness is there in society these days? That’s awful that he said that. And he’s going to go, very likely, unaccountable. I mean, whatever network he’s on is not going to do anything for him. I mean, that’s crazy. The guy should be fired on the spot.”

Indeed. Watters should be fired. So should Fox’s Lara Logan who recently compared Dr. Fauci to the sadistic Nazi “doctor” Josef Mengele. But don’t expect Fox News to show the slightest bit of responsibility or decency. That isn’t their style. They will continue to incite violence and spread lies because that’s the mission that has been dictated to them by their corporate masters, Lachlan and Rupert Murdoch. And their on-air missionaries – Watters, Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson, Laura Ingraham, etc. – are all too happy to obey.

UPDATE: Not surprisingly, Fox News is defending Watters. They released a statement saying that “Watters was using a metaphor [and that] his words have been twisted completely out of context.” Yes, it was a metaphor. But no, it wasn’t taken out of context. The danger posed by crafting violent metaphors is real. There are zealots who will, and have, acted them out. Rational people in the media know this and would never use the sort of language that Watters used. Which makes Watters responsible for the hardship he has thrust on Dr. Fauci, and for any harm that comes to him if someone takes his words literally.

Tucker Carlson Attacks White House Parental Leave Policy, Which Fox News Also Offers

Leave it to the Fox News Senior Hate Monger, Tucker Carlson, to find a way to malign fatherhood, while viciously insulting LGBTQ people, and simultaneously displaying rank hypocrisy, all with the smirk of an elitist, trust fund baby, shielded from consequences by his right-wing employer.

Tucker Carlson Fox News

On Thursday evening Carlson was compelled to assault the institution of the family, an ironic position for the network that pretends to be the defenders of family values. Carlson’s tirade was triggered by the audacity of Secretary of Transportation, Pete Buttigieg, availing himself of the parental leave provided to all federal employees. But Carlson is apparently ignorant of the family leave policies of his own employer. This was revealed in a video contrasting Carlson’s homophobic mockery of Buttigieg, with a clip of Fox and Friends co-host Todd Piro:

Carlson: Pete Buttigieg has been on leave from his job since August after adopting a child. Paternity leave, they call it. Trying to figure out how to breastfeed. No word on how that went.
Piro: Fox is amazing. It’s a great organization. Really a family friendly organization. They give us six weeks as dads for paternity. I’m taking that six weeks. I can’t wait to bond with my little one.

Carlson’s crack about “breastfeeding” demeans all fathers who love their newborns enough to take some time off of work to care for them and their wives. That includes his colleague Piro, as well as Jesse Watters who, after the birth of his child with his second wife (a Fox News producer with whom he was cheating on his first wife), said that “Now I am pro-paternity [leave]. I used to mock people for taking paternity.” That’s the same brand of family “values” practiced by Donald Trump.

So Carlson deliberately neglects to mention that Fox News has a family leave policy that gives fathers six weeks off after the birth of a child. Even worse he criticizes Buttigieg for taking leave in the most insulting and infantile manner possible.

This, however, isn’t the first time that Carlson as lambasted a Biden administration policy that mirrors those of Fox News. Carlson also attacked Biden’s vaccine mandate policy. He characterized Biden’s efforts to get more people vaccinated, thus saving lives, as tyrannical and as waging a war on the American people. Never mind that Fox News has a similar policy that is even stricter than Biden’s, and which Carlson is abiding by.

How many other Fox News directives does Carlson oppose, but is too dishonest and cowardly to say so? Who knows? What we do know is that Carlson is a weaselly hypocrite who will suck up to whoever he needs to in order to benefit himself. After all, before he was rescued by Fox News, Carlson was fired from PBS, CNN, and MSNBC. He also had a run in with Fox before they hired him that resulted in him calling them “a mean, sick group of people.”

Now Carlson happily toils in Fox’s lie-mining caves like a good supplicant. He furthers their ultra-rightist agenda by embracing and dispensing their hate, lies, and conspiracy theories. All while maintaining his hallmark smirk and confused (constipated?) expression.

UPDATE: Mayor Pete responds saying that Carlson “doesn’t understand the concept of bottle feeding, let alone the concept of paternity leave. […and that…] This attack is coming from a guy who has yet to explain his apparent approval for the assassination of Harvey Milk.”

Cashing In On Corruption? Fox News Gets Slammed on the Air for Their Flagrant Hypocrisy

There is a heaping helping of chutzpah among the propaganda purveyors at Fox News. It isn’t just their shameless propagation of lies and right-wing conspiracy theories. It’s how arrogantly they present the phony tales of Democratic misconduct, while pretending that Trump and his Republican confederates are as pure as the driven snow.

Fox News, Bullshit Factory

On Friday’s episode of The Five on Fox News, co-host Dagen McDowell introduced a segment on the already aging story of Hunter Biden selling his artwork for surprisingly large sums. It’s a subject that they are obsessed with, having covered it just last month with their customary focus on lies, rumors, and baseless innuendo. But apparently that didn’t satisfy the Fivers.

The difference this time was that the panel was joined by Jessica Tarlov, who took exception to the hypocritical harangues of her co-hosts. Tarlov eventually found an opening to say that…

“We cannot have this conversation and completely ignore the fact that Trump children, Ivanka and Jared, according to Citizens for Ethics Investigations, made hundreds of millions of dollars while they were serving in government posts.”

At which point Jesse Watters prepared to make the first of multiple interruptions to prevent Tarlov from finishing her point. But she persisted…

“No Jesse, don’t put your hands up. She got dozens of trademarks, including three preliminary trademarks that she campaigned for at Mar-a -Lago.”

Watching Tarlov so righteously condemn the Trump family for their sleazy self-dealing was a rare spectacle on Fox News. She pointed out that Jared and Ivanka’s misconduct occurred while they held official White House posts. Hunter Biden, on the other hand, is a private citizen with no political sway and is entitled to pursue whatever career he chooses. It was predictable that this sort of honesty on Fox would not be permitted for very long.

As expected, McDowell quickly broke in to say that “We’ve gotta go.” But Tarlov was heated up and unstoppable. She continued while the other co-hosts talked over her, hoping to silence this unauthorized truth-telling. Co-host Katie Pavlich had the audacity to accuse Tarlov of “deflecting” when that’s all that the other co-hosts were doing from the moment she began talking.

In fact, the entire segment was a deflection from the corruption that was rampant in Donald Trump’s administration. Just this week Tom Barrack, a close ally of Trump, who chaired his inauguration committee, was arrested on charges of breaching the Foreign Agents Registration Act. He was indicted for lobbying Trump on behalf of the United Arab Emirates while Trump was running for and serving as president. And there were at least ten other felony indictments of Trump associates during his single term in office.

Fox News has also refused to report on Trump’s brazen profiteering while president, including charging taxpayers for accommodations at his hotels and golf resorts for family, staff, members of Congress, Secret Service, political organizations, and yes, even foreign operatives with business before the U.S. government. And Fox has failed to cover Trump ripping off his donors to line his own pockets.

So despite the fact that Trump has largely abandoned Fox News due to his impression that they haven’t been sufficiently worshipful, Fox continues to purse their lips and kiss his … let’s say ring. Consequently, it will be interesting to see if a disobedient liberal like Tarlov still has a job with Fox tomorrow.
