Biden: Fox News is ‘One of the Most Destructive Forces in the U.S.’ – But it Can Be Cured

The harm done to America – and the world – by Fox News has been apparent to objective observers for decades. The radically slanted editorial mission of the right-wing network has disseminated innumerable lies and crackpot conspiracy theories, promoted extremist conservative politicians, and poisoned the minds of millions of gullible viewers.

Fox News, Joe Biden

Fox News has purposefully driven rancorous division and fueled racial and class hatred to advance their ultra-partisan crusade. But despite that, politicians are often hesitant to directly criticize the network. Particularly at the presidential level where maintaining a measure of diplomacy is preferred to the unbridled bombast of Donald Trump.

However, a forthcoming book promises to shatter that mold. In “This Will Not Pass: Trump, Biden, and the Battle for America’s Future,” President Joe Biden takes some well deserved slaps at Fox News. According to CNN

“In a forthcoming book, a pair of New York Times reporters and CNN political analysts report that President Joe Biden ‘assessed’ Fox News ‘as one of the most destructive forces in the United States.’ […] According to the book, Biden told an unnamed associate in mid-2021 that [Rupert] Murdoch was the most dangerous man in the world.'”

Finally! While this is certain to trigger Fox News and their faithful flock, it stands as a certifiable statement of fact that was long overdue. And in the wake of recent commentaries by the likes of Tucker Carlson (who openly supports Russia and Vladimir Putin) and Laura Ingraham (who advocates for a GOP government to punish “woke” corporations), it’s no wonder that Russian television has adopted Fox News as an affiliate and regularly replays and praises their programming.

So while Fox News embraces Russia and Putin, Biden took another step toward vilifying him as the murderous thug that he is. On Monday morning Biden reiterated his resolve to aid Ukraine and told reporters that “we have to gather all the detail so this can be an actual — have a war crimes trial.”

The good news is that the destructiveness of Fox News that Biden spoke of is not necessarily permanent. A new study conducted by a pair of professors from Berkeley and Yale asked the question: “Does watching Fox News actually change voters’ minds?”” The study paid a sample of regular Fox News viewers to watch CNN instead. The abstract from the study states that…

“We recruited a sample of regular Fox News viewers using data on actual TV viewership from a media company, and incentivized them to watch CNN instead for a month using real-time viewership quizzes. Despite regular Fox viewers being largely strong partisans, we found manifold effects of changing the slant of their media diets on their factual beliefs, attitudes, perceptions of issues’ importance, and overall political views.

“We show that these effects stem in part from a bias we call partisan coverage filtering, wherein partisan outlets selectively report information, leading viewers to learn a biased set of facts. Consistent with this, treated participants concluded that Fox concealed negative information about President Trump. Partisan media does not only present its side an electoral advantage—it may present a challenge for democratic accountability.”

In short, Fox News’ commitment to selectively reporting, or failing to report, news that is consistent with their inbred biases, has a demonstrable impact viewers’ perceptions and attitudes. However, those attitudes can be altered when exposed to other more credible news sources. The study showed that Fox viewers opinions were altered by several percentage points on controversial subjects. That included their opinions about Fox News itself.

This is not, however, a panacea for the propaganda pushed by Fox. The changes found in the study occurred when the tested viewers were switched from Fox News to CNN entirely. So their disinformation flow was interrupted in total. They were not only freed from the flagrant lies that populate Fox, they were also kept informed about critical stories that Fox News refused to cover at all. The study didn’t test whether inserting a bit of honest reporting into the poisonous cauldron of Fox News would have the same result as making the Fox viewers switch entirely to CNN or some other credible news network.

Consequently, there’s still no evidence that having Democrats or liberals appear on Fox would serve any purpose. But persuading people to stop watching Fox, or cable companies from forcing it on them, could have a positive effect on the nation’s general acceptance of facts and overall store of knowledge.

Even Tucker Carlson Says Biden Was Right About Russia Invading Ukraine – for About 5 Seconds

America’s foremost Russian asset is at it again. Tucker Carlson of Fox News has distinguished himself among America’s white-wing blowhards as Russia’s favorite western media “personality.” He shamelessly fawns over Vladimir Putin and maligns President Biden, even during a time of war. No wonder Russian TV venerates Fox News and replays Carlson on an almost nightly basis.

Click here to Tweet this article

Fox News, Tucker Carlson

On Wednesday night Carlson continued his adoration of all things Putin. But this time he may have given some unintended credit to President Biden. In a rambling rant Carlson delivered a rather bizarre take on the Russian assault on Ukraine saying that…

“When the Russian military invaded Ukraine last month, the most highly credentialed people in the world seemed stunned by it […] That’s pretty weird if you think about it, because for weeks, Joe Biden had been speaking in a very loud voice about a potential Russian invasion of Ukraine. They seemed ready for it and yet it turns out that nobody in Washington, including Biden himself, really thought it was going to happen and when it did happen, official Washington concluded that Putin must be insane.”

What? Carlson just said that “Biden had been speaking in a very loud voice about a potential Russian invasion of Ukraine” and that “Biden himself [didn’t think] it was going to happen” – in the same freakin’ sentence! It’s true that Biden had correctly predicted that Russia would invade Ukraine. He said back in mid January that “My guess is [Putin] will move in.” And he repeated that prediction several times in the weeks that followed. However, contrary to Carlson’s assertion, there is no record of Biden ever saying that did not think that would happen. As usual, Carlson is making stuff up to fit – or rather manufacture – his narrative.

What’s more, Carlson advises his already dimwitted audience to listen only to those “who saw the Ukraine war coming and said so out loud.” That, of course, is President Biden, as Carlson himself said above. But shortly thereafter Carlson contradicted himself (again) to say that Biden didn’t say what Carlson already said that he said. Then Carlson went further over the edge saying that “The U.S. has never had a president as reckless as Joe Biden.” For being right?

Carlson’s entire monologue was an introduction to a commentary by the British white nationalist, Nigel Farage. Not surprisingly, Farage agrees with Carlson’s exaltation of Putin and recommends that the West surrender to his imperialistic aggression. They think we should just give Putin everything he wants. Farage and Carlson believe that Putin “is actually on our side,” and admonish us against “provoking Putin, whether we like him or not.”

They are good couple of obedient, fascist, sycophants, aren’t they? Carlson then unleashed a common and ridiculous whine among conservatives that they/he is being censored, while he’s disgorging his lies on a national television network: He asked…

“Why did the Russians do this? It’s not treasonous to ask that.[…] but our leaders so far have refused to do that. They keep lying to themselves. They’re imposing censorship on the rest of us.”

Here Carlson is reprising his signature method of propagating crackpot conspiracy theories by pretending to ask innocent questions. But his questions are actually carefully contrived statements intended to advance his overtly political biases. In this case he’s questioning anyone who would criticize Vladimir Putin for launching an unprovoked, genocidal invasion of his peaceful neighbor Ukraine.

Carlson complains that some pundits have been mean to Putin by characterizing him as insane. Because Carlson, like Trump, thinks Putin is a genius and devotedly defends him. Which proves that Carlson is right that somebody here is indeed insane. Except that it’s Carlson himself. Who is also flagrantly anti-American.

Connecting the Dots: Trump Begs Putin for Dirt on Biden While Russia Calls Trump Their Partner

The long festering and treasonous infatuation that Donald Trump has for Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is a well documented fact. It was apparent even before Trump’s occupation of the White House, an electoral catastrophe that Putin admits to having engineered.

Click here to Tweet this article

Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin

Trump’s reliance on Putin can be seen as early as July of 2016 when he asked Russia to hack Hillary Clinton’s emails. Trump then spent most of his single term in office taking Putin’s side over that of the U.S. Yet he still has the gall to file a preposterous lawsuit against Clinton (and several dozen others) claiming that his Russia-lust was “fake news.”

Now Trump has taken his adoration of Putin down to another new low. While Russia is currently engaged in a genocidal assault against America’s democratic ally Ukraine, Trump just asked Putin, our enemy’s leader, dig up dirt on our President and his family. And he even brags about this via his Twitter ban defying spokes-shill. In this interview by a right-wing website Trump says that…

“As long as Putin is not exactly a fan of our country… Let him explain why did the mayor of Moscow’s wife give Joe Biden, both of them, $3.5 million? … So now I would think Putin would know the answer to that. I think he should release it. Now, you won’t get the answer from Ukraine.”

For the record, there is as much evidence of these allegations by Trump as there is of the election fraud he is still ranting about – NONE! These charges have been debunked repeatedly. Not that Trump cares about these facts, or any others.

In the meantime, Trump’s Russian pals are eager to embrace him and his mouthpieces on Fox News. Respected Russia watcher Julia Davis recently reported on how Russia’s state-run TV is re-airing Tucker Carlson’s program and parroting baseless charges against the Bidens:

“These days, [Russian] state television draws on a bounty of translated quotes almost exclusively from two Western voices: Tucker Carlson of Fox News and former U.S. President Donald J. Trump. [and that] Russia’s Defense Ministry released a colorful diagram, purporting to demonstrate that President Joe Biden’s son Hunter, is secretly bankrolling the Pentagon’s biolabs in Ukraine.”

So while Trump is clinging to, and praising, his Russian confederates, the Russian government and media is dispensing his propaganda. And they are not the least bit shy about this sordid relationship. Russian TV host Evgeny Popov recently opined that

“It is time for us, for our people, to call on the people of the United States to change the regime in the U.S. early, and to again help our partner Trump to become president.”

That’s a remarkable statement. First of all, Popov is advocating the “early” removal of President Biden from office by means that he doesn’t disclose. And then somehow replacing him with Trump, also by some mysterious mechanism. Popov also confesses that Trump is Russia’s “partner” whom they wish to help “again.” Presumably like they did in 2016 and, unsuccessfully, in 2020.

Now that Trump and Russia are openly talking about their nefarious partnership, it is all the more obvious why Trump would solicit Putin’s help in manufacturing scandals to malign Biden. It is an unsavory relationship that is also flagrantly unpatriotic. Yet both parties to this heinous hookup are proudly extolling it. And let’s not forget that Fox News and the Republican Party are firmly and comfortably behind all of it. You really have to wonder how any loyal American citizen can tolerate this blatant betrayal.

Trump’s Twitter Proxy Implies Biden is Mentally Unsound for Referring to Notes, But Guess What?

The question of President Biden’s fitness to serve has been a core feature of the Fox News campaign of smears and character assassination from before Biden was even inaugurated. Never mind that a significant majority of the American people concluded by their votes that Biden was not only fit, but more mentally sound than Donald Trump according to a Fox News poll.

Click here to Tweet this article

Donald Trump, Insane, Straight Jacket

That affirmation by the people, however, has not deterred Fox News, and the Trump-addled Republican Party it speaks for, from persisting in their malicious misrepresentations.

RELATED: Hannity’s Infantile Anti-Biden Tweet Draws a Scorching Backlash Against Trump

On Tuesday morning, Trump’s Twitter ban defying spokes-shill posted a tweet that said only “25th amendment,” a reference to the constitutional amendment providing for relieving a mentally incompetent president from his duties. The post also retweeted a Republican operative’s photo of Biden holding some notes he used during a press conference.

Let’s set aside the assertion in the tweet that Biden “screwed up,” because there’s no evidence of that in the tweet. To the contrary, it shows that Biden accurately conveyed what his notes said about his previous comment that the genocidal butcher Vladimir Putin “cannot remain in power.” Biden maintained that he “was expressing the moral outrage I felt towards the actions of this man,” and that he “was not articulating a change in policy.” It was a message that he also delivered in response to a “silly” question by Fox’s Peter Doocy later the same day.

Nevertheless, according these Trump tongue waggers, Biden’s use of notes indicates some sort of cognitive failure. But what makes this all the more preposterous and hypocritical is that Trump himself frequently used similar notes. Here’s one where he required a cheat sheet to remind to show sympathy for victims a mass shooting:

So Trump needed this reminder to tell these mourners that “I hear you.” Really? And then there was the time that Trump needed notes to express his racist and misogynistic hatred for some Democratic women in Congress. Including his opinion that these American citizens should leave the country, saying that “if you are not happy here, you can leave.”

Finally, Trump needed a written reminder about how to reply to the fact that he extorted Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an effort to manufacture dirt on then-candidate Joe Biden. It was what he was impeached for, the first time. His notes even included him repeating himself:

“I want nothing. I want nothing. I want no quid pro quo. Tell Zelensky — President Zelensky to do the right thing. This is the final word from the president of the United States: I want nothing.”

RELATED: Sean Hannity of Fox News Takes Lame Swing at Joe Biden, But Whacks Himself Instead

Of course, Fox News joined in on this Biden bashing with a story entitled “Biden caught using cue cards in trying to paper over Ukraine gaffe about ousting Putin.” Needless to say, Fox’s story never mentioned all the times that Trump also used “cue cards” when dispensing his lies. And Tucker Carlson devoted a segment on his Monday night program to calling for the 25th Amendment to be used against Biden. He ranted that…

“Uncontrollable flashes of anger are common among people who are aging, particularly among men, and they often accompany senility. Losing it is a very frustrating experience and your heart goes out to anyone who is.”

Do you suppose that Carlson recognizes that his criticism fits Trump better than it does Biden? Trump is a walking fount of incessant and unfiltered anger. While Biden is known for his composure and calm rationality. If anyone was a candidate for the 25th Amendment, it was Donald Trump. And, more troubling, it still is, as he makes noises about running again in 2024.

If anything, Trump has gotten even worse, as he continues to rage about the 2020 election and the size of the shrinking crowds at his cult rallies. Perhaps he should get someone to write notes for him that actually reflect reality. Because he’s definitely not aware of it himself.

Sean Hannity Regurgitates Swill From Russian Shill for His Nightly Biden Bashing on Fox News

The American Bureau of the Russian Ministry of Disinformation (aka Fox News) is continuing to disseminate the Kremlin’s narrative about Russia’s genocidal war against Ukraine and their anti-American propaganda attacking President Joe Biden. Vladimir Putin couldn’t be any more satisfied with the programming on Fox News if he were directing himself. Which, so far as anyone can tell by watching it, he is.

Click here to Tweet this article

Fox News, Sean Hannity, Vladimir Putin

On Friday night Sean Hannity fulfilled his role in pushing Russian propaganda in a segment that was literally written for him by a spokesperson for the Kremlin. Hannity read verbatim from a statement that was released by Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov. Peskov was responding to recent comments by Biden accurately accusing Putin of being a “war criminal” and a “murderous dictator.” Apparently Hannity disagreed with Biden – and most of the free world – and sought to defend his soulmate Vladimir, saying that…

“When describing Biden, a Kremlin spokesperson said, quote, ‘Given such irritability from Mr. Biden, his fatigue and sometimes forgetfulness, fatigue that leads to aggressive statements, we will not make harsh assessments, so as not to cause more aggression.’

Now, like I’ve been saying, Biden’s weakness on the world stage, it is emboldening bad actors all across the globe as Biden and Democrats abandoned the peace through strength strategy that was successful under President Trump and even President Reagan.”

It’s true that Hannity has been saying that Biden is weak throughout his presidency. That’s bad enough under ordinary circumstances, but it’s downright treasonous during wartime. Hannity is giving aid and comfort to our enemy who is currently slaughtering civilians in Ukraine, our democratic ally. Talk about “emboldening bad actors.” Hannity is describing himself, his colleagues at Fox News, and the Republican Party, doing just that.

Hannity’s embrace of Kremlin propaganda (again) comes just one day after Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov singled out Fox New for praise, saying that “only Fox News is trying to present some alternative point of view.” By which he means a point of view that is approving of Putin’s inhumane massacre of innocents. And Hannity continues to earn that praise with servile commentaries like this one, wherein he sympathetically recites the words of his masters in Moscow, while callously ignoring the human tragedies that are taking place even as he speaks.

Only on Fox News: Russian Foreign Minister Praises the Network’s Pro-Putin Propaganda

For anyone who wasn’t previously convinced that Fox News is serving as the U.S. bureau of the Kremlin’s Ministry of Disinformation, we now have concrete evidence that Russia has adopted the far-right network and exploits its anchors and guests to advance their propaganda mission.

Fox News Commies

Fox’s roster of right-wing ranters have abandoned any pretense to patriotism as they shill unabashedly for Russia. Their Senior Putin Apologist Tucker Carlson, stands out for his fealty to Vladimir Putin and his cheerleading for a Russian victory in its genocidal war on Ukraine.

That devotion to an editorial ideology that favors America’s enemies has now earned Fox News the admiration of Russia’s Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov. In an interview on the Kremlin sponsored RT cable channel, Lavrov lavished praise on Fox News as a singular voice for Russia’s interests (starts at 3:35):

“We understood long ago that there is no such thing as an independent Western media. You could take the United States, only Fox News is trying to present some alternative point of view. But when you see, you watch other channels, and when you watch, read social networks and Internet platforms, when the acting president was blocked. as you know. And this censorship continues in very big way.”

Lavrov’s tribute to Fox’s fawning over Russia was driven by the constant drumbeat of pro-Putin programming that dominates Fox’s schedule. When Lavrov says that “only Fox News is trying to present some alternative point of view,” what he means is that only Fox News will toe the official Kremlin line that Russia is the beleaguered party in the conflict with Ukraine, and that only Fox News will lie to advance that so-called “alternative point of view.” Apparently Lavrov has bought into the “alternative facts” theme made famous by former Trump White House Director of Newspeak, Kellyanne Conway.

What’s more, for Lavrov to complain about censorship in the U.S. is utterly bizarre. First of all, he doesn’t bother to document any censorship by the U.S. government whatsoever. The decisions of private companies to moderate their own websites is actually an affirmation of freedom in a democratic society. The government is not permitted to force those companies to act according to some official mandate.

In Lavrov’s country, however, the government just passed a law that prohibits news organizations from reporting factually about the war Russia is waging against Ukraine. Media companies are being forced out of Russia, and journalists are being arrested and threatened. And what the heck does he mean by “the acting president was blocked”? Does Lavrov think that Trump still holds some official position in the U.S. government?

Lavrov went on to criticize CNN, saying that…

“If you take CNN, they they prefer to avoid analytical materials, and they more and more concentrate on some reports, which would be made of slogans. Russia is an aggressor. Russia is murdering civilians.”

Of course, the allegations of Russia being an aggressor and murdering civilians are not slogans. They are what free people refer to as facts. And Lavrov’s complaints about CNN avoiding “analytical material” makes about as much sense as Donald Trump complaining about U.S. cable companies that have ceased to carry openly pro-Russian propaganda outlets like One America News (OAN) and RT, the channel that Lavrov was interviewed on.

The harmony between the commentaries by Russia and Trump shouldn’t surprise anyone. Because they have long shared the same political objectives of suppressing free thought, destroying liberal democracies and supporting authoritarian dictatorships. No wonder Lavrov is so fond of both Trump and Fox News.

Ted Cruz Tries to Smear Biden’s Leadership on Ukraine, Gets Demolished By Top Aide to Zelenskyy

There are very few predictions about Washington politicians that are more reliable than those that forecast Ted Cruz saying something extraordinarily stupid. His endlessly recurring humiliations include his cowardly flight to Cancun in order to avoid the deep freeze in his home state of Texas, and his submission for punishment to his Fox News master Tucker Carlson, for daring to correctly refer to the January 6th insurrection as an act of terrorism.

Click here to Tweet this article

Ted Cruz, Cancun

As the genocidal assault on Ukraine by Russia enters its third week, Cruz is behaving consist with his legendary idiocy. In remarks made at a press conference Thursday morning, Cruz dutifully delivered on the Republican doctrine of elevating the reputation of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin at the expense of President Joe Biden and the national interests of the United States and its allies. Cruz complained petulantly, and utterly without basis, that…

“What is missing is presidential leadership. President Biden believes Putin’s victory is inevitable. And that is reflected in every briefing we get. And it’s reflected in the strategy the administration is implementing. I’m reminded in the Cold War when President Reagan was asked ‘What’s your strategy in the Cold War?’ And he said, ‘It’s very simple. We win, they lose.’ That clarity directed our economic policy, our military policy, our diplomatic policy. We need that clarity.”

There is, of course, nothing in any of Biden’s statements about the Russian invasion of Ukraine that even tangentially suggests that he regards Putin’s victory as inevitable. It’s not in his briefings or his strategy. That dishonest contrivance exists only in Cruz’s deliberately distorted disinformation. And Cruz’s descent into the mindless simplicity of Reaganism is typical of the right’s inability to comprehend anything more complex than an Applebee’s kid’s menu maze.

Cruz made these anti-American, pro-Putin remarks after Biden had announced an enhanced package of military aid for Ukraine. The announcement was made by Biden in a White House address that was covered live by the media on Wednesday. So Cruz undoubtedly knew that his attack on Biden was a lie. According to CNN

“President Joe Biden on Wednesday announced an additional $800 million in security assistance to Ukraine as he sought to answer his Ukrainian counterpart’s impassioned call for help and leadership delivered to Congress earlier in the day. ‘The world is united in our support for Ukraine and our determination to make (Russian President Vladimir) Putin pay a very heavy price,’ Biden said before signing a presidential memorandum at the White House to deliver the military assistance.”

Clearly this is not the action of a President who has abandoned leadership or is resigned to defeat. And Biden’s public declaration that “I think [Putin] is a war criminal,” is further evidence of his commitment to, not only victory for Ukraine, but severe consequences for Putin. But if any additional proof of Biden’s leadership is necessary, how about taking the word of Andriy Yermak, the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine:

Thank you to the American people, American states and personally to President Biden. […] Really, President Biden is the President of the United States who is better know our country. and who has done more than all Presidents of United States. And we hope, and President Zelenskyy yesterday in Congress said, that we believe that President Biden Biden will be really leader of the peace of Ukraine. And his leadership helps my people, my country, really stop this war and Ukraine to win.”

So Yermak explicitly acknowledges the leadership of President Biden and thanks him profusely. And it is not immaterial that he praised Biden for having “done more than all Presidents of United States.” That is an unambiguous slap at Donald Trump, who tried to extort Zelenskyy by withholding military aid from Ukraine in an attempt to coerce him into fabricating dirt on then-candidate Biden. Which is what Trump was impeached for the first time.

Nevertheless, Cruz felt compelled to malign Biden and is still nauseatingly infatuated with Trump. He is the epitome of the modern Republican Party that is so focused on destroying Biden and the Democratic Party that they will forge allegiances to America’s enemies, even in a time of war.

Jen Psaki Gloriously Mocks Putin’s Impotent Sanctions on Biden and Others, Including Herself

There hasn’t been much to laugh about in the three weeks since Russia launched their genocidal invasion of Ukraine. Vladimir Putin’s unprovoked aggression against a peaceful neighbor has already resulted in thousands of deaths of innocent civilians. It’s a heinous campaign of blatant war crimes that history will record with disgust for Putin, as well as those in American media and politics who have aided and abetted him, such as Tucker Carlson of Fox News and Putin’s BFF Donald Trump.

Click here to Tweet this article

Psaki Lightening

However, on Tuesday Putin provided some unintended comic relief when his foreign ministry released a list of Americans who Russia is sanctioning “as retaliation for sweeping economic penalties from the Biden administration targeting Russian entities over the invasion of Ukraine.” Those sanctioned include…

  • President Joe Biden
  • Hunter Biden
  • Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton
  • White House press secretary Jen Psaki
  • Secretary of State Antony Blinken
  • Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin
  • Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley
  • White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan
  • CIA Director Bill Burns

Notice who didn’t get sanctioned? Probably the only person who would have been hurt by the sanctions, Donald Trump. According to CBS News, those sanctioned “are prohibited from entering the country and any assets they hold there are frozen.” Consequently, this development was raised during the daily press briefing at the White House by CBS News reporter Weijia Jiang. And press secretary Jen Psaki handled it with her customary grace and a bit of snark:

Jiang: Sanctions were imposed today by Russia against yourself, President Biden, and other top U.S. officials. Do you have a response to that? And how will it impact any of you, if at all?
Psaki: I would first note that President Biden is a junior, so they may have sanctioned his dad, may he rest In peace. The second piece I would say, it won’t surprise many of you that none of us are planning tourist trips to Russia, none of us have bank accounts that we won’t be able to access. So we will forge ahead.

In addition to the welcome injection of humor, Psaki is making a significant point about how impotent Putin’s sanctions are compared to those imposed on Russia by the U.S. and European allies. Russia’s largest banks, including the Central Bank of Russia, have been cut off from the SWIFT financial messaging system. And there has also been a ban on Russian oil and gas imports into the U.S. Numerous real estate properties, yachts, and other assets have been seized. And a broad international coalition has committed to cease doing business with Russia, shutting down their manufacturing on everything from cars to computers.

In the meantime, Trump felt compelled to address this matter in a statement tweeted by his Twitter ban defying spokes-shill. He ranted incoherently that…

“Russia just sanctioned Joe Biden. While that is a terrible thing, in so many ways, perhaps it will now be explained why the Biden family received 3.5 million dollars from the very wealthy former Mayor of Moscow’s wife. During our Presidential Debate, “moderator” Chris Wallace, then of Fox, would not let me ask that question. He said it was inappropriate. Perhaps that’s why Biden has been so “slow on the draw” with Russia. This is a really bad conflict of interest that will, perhaps now, be fully and finally revealed!”

So in the wake of Russia’s pitiful sanctions, Trump thought it would be a good idea to malign America’s President and his son, Hunter. How patriotic of him. Never mind that Trump’s speculation that these sanctions might somehow “reveal” something about Hunter’s business affairs. Obviously they won’t. The allegations, which are false, have nothing whatsoever to do the sanctions.

Trump just wanted to wedge a totally unrelated obsession of his into the discussion. An obsession that has been repeatedly debunked. After years of babbling about this, there is still no evidence of any wrongdoing by Hunter Biden. Trump, on the other hand, is drowning in documented evidence of criminal activities, over which he simply can’t stop whining. No wonder he’s so cranky all the time.

UPDATE: Hillary Clinton had a pretty great response too:

Maria Bartiromo Barks Out Bizarro Rant on Fox News About Biden Seeing Putin as a – Partner?

The gaslighting crusade of Fox News is still in full effect as they proselytize on behalf of Vladimir Putin while Russia is engaging in heinous war crimes in Ukraine. It is a mission that Fox has embraced throughout the Russian invasion of their peaceful neighbor.

Click here to Tweet this article

Fox News, Maria Bartiromo

On Sunday morning Maria Bartiromo did her part to blame – in the buzzwords of Donald Trump – America First. But what she offered was another crackpot conspiracy theory that maligned President Biden, the United States, and its allies in NATO and Europe. She began with some obviously concocted gossip about the “feelings” of what “some people” allegedly told her over the weekend…

“It seems that there is a predetermined outcome here in place. And that is a slow death to Ukraine and President Zelenskyy as the Russian forces continue to get closer. With all of these other fatalities that we’re talking about – and some people have told me over the weekend that they feel that, at the end of the day, this administration does not see Putin as the enemy, they see him as a partner on many issues. They see him as a partner on climate change. They see him as a partner on the Iran deal. When is this administration gonna get serious in telling Vladimir Putin ‘We are done with partnerships’?”

Coming from Fox News, the allegation that Biden sees Putin as a partner could not be more preposterous. The network has been championing Putin for weeks as his armies have devastated the cities of Ukraine. Bartiromo herself took the position that all the fuss about the invasion was really just a tactic to deflect from some bogus charges against Hillary Clinton:

“Was this a ruse? Was this whole thing an effort to take everybody’s attention away from what Hillary Clinton did, and what we know to be a complete hoax over this Russia investigation?”

https://twitter.com/RonFilipkowski/status/1493968337176563724

The biggest partner that Putin has is Fox’s own Tucker Carlson. He recently enumerated his reasons for why no one should hate Vladimir Putin. And he followed that up with a commentary pleading to keep Putin in power. Clips from his program are regularly replayed on Russian state TV. In fact, Mother Jones acquired memos from the Kremlin ordering them to “feature Tucker Carlson in their coverage of the #Ukraine war ‘as much as possible.'” The memos said in part that…

“It is essential to use as much as possible fragments of broadcasts of the popular Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who sharply criticizes the actions of the United States [and] NATO, their negative role in unleashing the conflict in Ukraine, [and] the defiantly provocative behavior from the leadership of the Western countries and NATO towards the Russian Federation and towards President Putin, personally.”

Likewise, Trump has been fulfilling his role as Putin’s partner. Along with efforts to weaken NATO and the EU (a primary foreign policy goal of Russia), Trump complimented Putin on his Ukraine invasion, calling it “smart,” “savvy,” and “genius.” And Trump refuses to ever criticize Putin, even after relentless coaching from Sean Hannity. Trump even literally partnered with Russia to hack the email of Clinton and the Democratic National Committee.

For his part, Biden has been so forthright in punishing Putin and his Russian oligarchs that Fox News complained that the measures were to harsh. And yet, Bartiromo now has the audacity to suggest that it’s Biden who is Putin’s best friend? Clearly the determination by Fox News to disparage Biden and badmouth America has driven them into a state of severe delusional madness. Which, for them, wasn’t a very long drive.

Stop Propping Up Putin: If McDonald’s Can Pull Out of Russia, They Can Pull Out of Fox News

Fox News and the Republican Party often appear to be taking Russia’s side in their brutal assault against Ukraine. That isn’t accidental. It’s by design. The network is wholly committed to whatever will reflect most negatively on President Biden, as well as being devoted to aligning with the deviant doctrines of Putin parasite, Donald Trump.

Fox News, Vladimir Putin

On Friday’s edition of MSNBC’s Deadline White House, Nicolle Wallace interviewed former FBI assistant director for counterintelligence, Frank Figliuzzi. She warned that the application of the sort of disinformation that is so prevalent on Fox News “has been more and more disastrous,” and that “it’s going in the wrong direction.” Elaborating, she said that…

“The COVID disinformation literally killed people in this country. Disinformation about the election being stolen by the defeated ex-president led to a deadly insurrection at the United States Capitol. And now disinformation is propping up support for war crimes in Ukraine. Where is the coalition to fight back against the deadly effects of disinformation?”

Figliuzzi, replied that there’s nothing new about disinformation being used in war time. What’s different today is “social media, with the speed of pressing the send button” at 24 hour cable networks that are “entertainment really, not news.” He also noted that we had a president who was, and is, “clinging to the disinformation.” Figliuzzi went on to propose a partial solution…

“So where’s the solution? We’re behind the curve. We need to legislate to regulate social media. We need to get those who still sponsor and advertise on this so-called entertainment channel we’re talking about [Fox News], and the others, to pull off of them. If we can pull off out of Russia – If McDonald’s can pull out of Russia, they can pull out of Fox News. We need an all hands on deck, holistic approach to stop what’s hurting us the most – disinformation on a deadly level.”

Later the same day on MSNBC’s 11th Hour, Stephanie Ruhle asked Russian television analyst Julia Davis, why Russian TV would use clips of Tucker Carlson. Davis replied that it’s “Because he sounds like one of the Kremlin pundits on State TV.”

Tucker Carlson is perhaps the most shameless Russian propagandist on Fox News. He recently enumerated his reasons for why no one should hate Vladimir Putin. And he followed that up with a commentary pleading to keep Putin in power. Carlson is so brazen in his bootlicking that it isn’t surprising to see clips from his program regularly replayed on Russian state TV.

Carlson argues that the U.S. is to blame for Russia invading Ukraine, and the Biden administration is too harsh in its response. He opposes the sanctions on Russia and Putin’s oligarchs. On Friday night he fear mongered that sanctions imposed on Russian oligarchs are a just prelude to similar actions taken against Americans. So what? Given the PR push that Fox News provides to our Russian enemy, Rupert Murdoch deserves to be sanctioned, just like any other enemy oligarch. Then Carlson complained that…

“…the Biden administration declared total economic war on a sovereign country. No American had been killed. The United States had not been invaded or attacked and yet, with no meaningful public debate or congressional authorization, the Biden administration destroyed that country’s currency, then removed it from the international banking system.”

Actually, it was virtually every Western democratic nation that imposed the sanctions on Russia for attacking a peaceful neighbor without provocation. Carlson apparently would prefer that Russia be allowed to engage in genocidal empire building unchallenged. And the public has had sufficient debate to form an opinion. The vast majority of the American people strongly approve of Biden’s leadership of these sanctions. They also support additional sanctions on Russian oil, even if it causes prices to increase. But Carlson wasn’t through making an asinine embarrassment of himself:

“Then the [Biden] administration began seizing the property of people affiliated with that country [Russia] without a trial or due process of any kind, without even bothering to explain exactly what crime they had committed. No American government had ever done anything like that before.”

The only person who still needs an explanation for why these sanctions were imposed is Carlson. More importantly, Carlson desperately needs a refresher course in American history. Japanese Americans might have something to say about whether the U.S. has ever seized property, and even incarcerated people, without due process – more than a hundred thousand. The difference between then and now is that they were citizens who did nothing wrong, but the Russians being sanctioned are foreign enemies aiding and abetting the murder and terrorism in Ukraine.

Given the flagrantly anti-American propaganda disseminated by Fox News, Figliuzzi’s proposal is eminently sensible. Patriotic advertisers should voluntarily refuse to sponsor any program on Fox News as long as the network continues to give aid and comfort to our enemies. And if they decline to act responsibly on behalf of America – and humanity – then the people of the world should cease to patronize them.
