Trump’s Impotent and Insane Letter Asking Georgia to ‘Decertify’ the 2020 Election

The madness of wannabe king Donald Trump continues to swirl down the drain of irrelevancy. His obsession with having decisively lost the 2020 presidential election to Joe Biden is gnawing away at what’s left of his diseased brain. And his persistently reckless behavior is likely to foment violent insurrection, just as it did on January 6th.

Donald Trump Circling the Drain

This week Trump expressed his emphatic support for the insurrectionists who stormed the Capitol eight months ago. He gushed that “Our hearts and minds are with the people being persecuted.” By which he meant the Constitution-hating rioters who attacked Congress and injured more than 140 police officers.

On Friday, CNN reported that the district attorney of Fulton County, Georgia, Fani Willis, is quietly proceeding with the criminal investigation into Trump’s election interference. According to CNN

“[C]riminal investigators in the state have been quietly conducting interviews, collecting documents and working to build a line of communication with congressional investigators as they aim to build a case against the former President for his alleged attempts to overturn the state’s 2020 election results.” […]

“Willis was investigating potential crimes, including ‘solicitation of election fraud, the making of false statements to state and local governmental bodies, conspiracy, racketeering, violation of oath of office and any involvement in violence or threats related to the election’s administration.'”

As the walls close in around Trump, he is reacting just as one would expect a malignant narcissist to react. He posted a rambling, run-on tweet via his spokes-shill, Liz Harrington (whose proxy Trump tweeting is violating Twitter’s rules against circumventing a ban). It was rife with fear and the sort of inane bombast that is his hallmark. Trump said that…

“Large scale Voter Fraud continues to be reported in Georgia…43,000 Absentee Ballot Votes Counted in DeKalb County that violated the Chain of Custody rules, making them invalid. I would respectfully request that your department check this and, if true, along with many other claims of voter fraud and voter irregularities, start the process of decertifying the Election, or whatever the correct legal remedy is, and announce the true winner. As stated to you previously, the number of false and/or irregular votes is far greater than needed to change the Georgia election results. People do not understand why you and Governor Brian Kemp adamantly refuse to acknowledge the now proven facts, and fight so hard that the election truth not be told. You and Governor Kemp are doing a tremendous disservice to the Great State of Georgia and to our nation – which is systematically being destroyed by an illegitimate president and his administration. The truth must be allowed to come out. Thank you for you attention to this matter.”

From the outset, Trump’s tweet was a ludicrous mangling of reality. There has been no “Large scale Voter Fraud” whatsoever. And all of Trump’s 60+ attempts to prove it were laughed out of court. Also, no legal process for “decertifying” the election exists anywhere but in the imaginations of Trump and his cult followers. Trump’s assertion that there were more “false and/or irregular votes” than needed for him to win is a figment of the same twisted imaginations.

Finally, Biden was and is the winner of the election and is the legitimate President. But that didn’t deter Trump from predictably throwing an infantile and ultra hyperbolic swipe at Biden who is working hard to undo Trump’s much more literal efforts to destroy the nation by undermining the people’s faith in democracy and inciting hostility and sedition.

The case in Georgia that is so frightening to Trump stems from his threatening phone call to Georgia election officials last January. Trump called Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger and pressured him to “find” the extra votes needed for Trump to win the state. “I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have,” Trump demanded. The whole conversation was recorded and Trump is heard explicitly pressuring Raffensperger, and even threatening to charge him with criminal acts, if he doesn’t comply with Trump’s flagrantly unlawful ultimatum.

Now Trump thinks that this “respectful” letter to Raffensperger will somehow cause the Georgia results to be declared invalid making Trump the victor. Which is just the latest evidence that he is irredeemably insane and incapable of rational thought. The only thing this lie-riddled, pitiful and futile letter accomplishes is exposing how scared he is of the long overdue consequences of his unlawful acts.

Fox News Headline Contradicts Their Own Story About Approval for Biden’s COVID Policies

This week President Biden introduced an initiative to halt the current surge of COVID that is spreading mostly among the unvaccinated (i.e. Republicans and Fox News viewers). Consequently, Biden’s plan focuses on getting more people to get the shot and to take other precautions such as masking and testing.

Fox News, Joe Biden

Biden’s plan was immediately attacked by Fox News as an imposition of tyrannical mandates that rob Americans of their freedom – – to get sick and die and spread the same dire fates to others. Never mind that Fox News actually imposes even stricter mandates on their own employees, including the ones who air in primetime and tell their audience that vaccines don’t work.

However, Biden’s plan was well received by the American people. Polls show that majorities approve of requiring vaccinations or weekly testing for federal employees, school staff, and private businesses with 100 or more employees. Fox News even did a story about these polls. Unfortunately, it was a typically dishonest Fox News style story.

The headline for the article on their website said that “Biden’s push to combat COVID disapproved by roughly half of Americans.” The question asked specifically about mandating vaccines for workplaces with 100 or more employees. And the headline is technically true. Disapproval was “roughly half” (46%). But the other half who approved (53%) was greater. Leave it to Fox News to lead a story about a poll that showed majority approval by citing only the lower number who disapproved. What’s more, every specific question in the Quinnipiac poll about Biden’s plan showed that the American people were solidly in favor of it. Fox even said so in the body of the article:

“According to the poll, Americans by a nearly two-to-one margin support requiring students, teachers and school staff to wear masks. And a majority (57%) support requiring masks while in indoor public spaces. By a 68%-24% margin, those polled said that the rise in COVID deaths this summer was preventable.”

Furthermore, Fox included the results of another poll by Monmouth University that had similarly positive results. According to Fox’s article…

“63% of Americans support COVID vaccine mandates for health workers, with 58% supporting such mandates for federal employees, and 55% backing such requirements for private contractors working for the federal government. According to the survey, 63% support the instituting or reinstituting of state-based face mask and social distancing guidelines, up from 52% in July.”

Something that Fox News left out of their article was the finding in the Monmouth poll that said that “Among the nearly 1 in 4 who show anti-vaccine attitudes, 72% describe themselves as Republicans or lean toward the Republican Party.” Which is just more proof that watching Fox News and listening to Republicans is one of the best predictors of who is going to contract COVID.

While the Fox article contained some truthful bits of information, readers who just scanned the headlines would have come away with a completely false impression of reality. And that’s exactly what Fox intended. And it’s why the nation is currently suffering another catastrophic wave of this pandemic whose victims are predominantly Republicans, Fox News viewers, and Trump voters.

Joy Reid Unmasks the Republicans ‘Creepy Little COVID-Loving Death Cult’

As the latest wave of the coronavirus pandemic washes over America, the Republican Party and their Ministry of Disinformation (aka Fox News) continues to embrace policies that put more lives at risk and put off the day that the nation can return to some semblance of normalcy.

Republican Virus

If one didn’t know better, it would seem like the GOP is actually rooting for the virus to vanquish more Americans. Sadly, even though one does know better, it still seems that way. Republican governors like Ron DeSantis and Greg Abbott not only reject the guidance of healthcare experts to wear masks and get vaccinated, they impose unconstitutional laws prohibiting localities, businesses, and schools from setting their own rules to keep people safe.

On Wednesday night MSNBC’s Joy Reid addressed this lethal brand of partisan politicking in a video venting directed at the GOP (Givers of Pestilence). She held nothing back in her condemnation of the Republicans’ “creepy little COVID-loving death cult”:

“We begin the Reidout tonight with a message to Republicans. Okay, we get it! COVID is the precious and you love it. You love COVID so much you want it to spread into schools, at the office, in the Walmart, on the cruise ships and at the club. That great spongy ball with the red spikes, you want it pumping through your veins with an Ivermectin chaser. Why do you love it so dadgum much? We have absolutely no bloody idea. But here’s the thing you weirdos, everyone else hates COVID!” […]

“You may want COVID. You may want to ingest horse de-wormer and attend far too many funerals, but we don’t. And it’s not just saying that or tweeting that. California voted that. It is perhaps the first real tangible proof that your creepy little COVID-loving death cult ways are not going to work for you at the ballot box next year. In fact it’s political suicide.”

This is the sort of blunt fearlessness that has made Reid a favorite foil of the right, and particularly of Donald Trump, who pretends not to know who she is. And it’s the sort of honesty that triggers Fox News, who felt compelled to do a story about this monologue that focused solely on the right-wing critics to whom she was referring. What Fox considers to be a newsworthy story is really just an opportunity to disparage a political foe. Fox said that…

“Reid was blasted on social media following the rant, with critics saying she was doing ‘significantly more harm than good,’ and that she was a ‘terrible person.’ One even suggested that she had a ‘mental problem’ and needed to be committed to a hospital.”

Notice that all of those criticisms were really just childish insults. They apparently were unable to disagree on substance with anything that Reid said. Fox then posted several tweets by 3rd rate conservative pundits maligning Reid, as if that bolstered their already feeble argument.

Fox News and the Republicans they prop up should really think twice (or even once) before they take on Reid or other progressives. After all, the unambiguously pro-COVID network can’t dispute the fact that COVID is now almost exclusively the Pandemic of Fox News. Their most-watched hosts are still lying about the efficacy of masks and vaccines. Tucker Carlson even harbors paranoid conspiracy theories that the vaccines don’t work, but sinister Deep State operatives won’t tell you that.

Carlson has also suggested that it would be acceptable for his viewers to commit the felony of counterfeiting official vaccination cards. That must be their way of ensuring that if the Fox/GOP COVID-loving death cultists don’t end up in the morgue, they’ll end up in prison.

Jen Psaki Slams Republicans Who Stood By While Trump ‘Fomented an Insurrection’

The new book, Peril, by Bob Woodward and Robert Costa, is sending shockwaves through the national press. Excerpts reveal how the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Mark Milley, was dealing with what he called Donald Trump’s serious mental decline.”

Jen Psaki, Donald Trump

Most of the conservative Whacko Chamber has been hyperventilating over what they say is treason because Milley is reported to have had conversations with his counterparts in China. Never mind that that is a routine part of the job for people in national security posts. When reviewed in context, Milley was merely assuring China that, despite what looked like chaos and instability following the January 6th insurrection in Washington, D.C., the situation in the U.S. was under control and that there was no need to worry about psycho Trump launching a nuclear war.

Trump’s Defense Secretary, Mark Esper, was among those who were reacting to intelligence that said China was concerned about a U.S. attack. And the spokesperson for the Joint Chiefs backed up Milley’s actions saying that…

“The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs regularly communicates with Chiefs of Defense across the world, including with China and Russia. These conversations remain vital to improving mutual understanding of U.S. national security interests, reducing tensions, providing clarity and avoiding unintended consequences or conflict.

“His calls with the Chinese and others in October and January were in keeping with these duties and responsibilities conveying reassurance in order to maintain strategic stability. All calls from the Chairman to his counterparts, including those reported, are staffed, coordinated and communicated with the Department of Defense and the interagency.”

At Wednesday’s White House press briefing, Press Secretary Jen Psaki was asked about Milley and whether President Biden still had confidence in his service. Her answer went a bit further than merely defending Milley. She also touched on the disreputability of his critics and Trump:

Reporter: Is there a point where criticism makes Gen. Milley is unable to continue in this role because it is a new administration, it is a new day, and there are some questions if he exceeded his authority?
Psaki: The President has complete confidence in his leadership, his patriotism, and his fidelity to our Constitution. I can’t speak to the former president’s experience with him or the former president’s views of him. But this current president who follows the Constitution, who’s not fomenting an insurrection, who follows the rule of law, has complete confidence in Chairman Milley and him continuing to serve in his role.
Reporter: Even as Republicans may criticize him and have questions about his suitability to continue, would that be a factor that President Biden would consider?
Psaki: I don’t think the president is looking for the guidance of members of Congress who stood by while the President of the United States and the leader of their party fomented an insurrection and many of them were silent.

It’s pretty remarkable that a White House spokesperson is forced to make a distinction between the former president and the current one “who’s not fomenting an insurrection.” And it’s hard to ignore the significance of her rejecting “the guidance of members of Congress who stood by while [Trump] fomented an insurrection and many of them were silent.”

Clearly it was Milley who was honoring his oath of loyalty to his country and acting out of patriotism. And it was Trump and his GOP minions in Congress who tried to stage a coup and prevent Congress from carrying out its constitutionally mandated duties. Psaki’s responses effectively turned the tables on the treason accusers. And now all we need is for justice to be served to the wrongdoers.

Fox News Online Quashes Coverage of Newsom’s Landslide Victory Over Recall and Trump-ism

The election to recall the governor of California went down in flames on Tuesday. Gavin Newsom defeated the blatantly partisan Republican sham with a whopping 28 point margin of victory. The results exceeded the predictions of recent polls and the race was called within an hour of the closing of the polls.

Fox News, Censorship

The outcome was a crushing blow to the GOP’s already Lilliputian stature in the Golden State. But it was also a striking repudiation of Donald Trump and his surly surrogate, Larry Elder. The parallels between Trump and Elder should have been a signal to California’s Republicans that Elder could not prevail. He even parroted Trump’s knee-jerk reaction to electoral drubbings by baselessly charging that the the election was rigged before any of the results were even tabulated.

Elder may have been fooled by the adoring coverage he got from Fox News He appeared on the network dozens of times prior to the election for interviews that were little more than campaign ads. So it shouldn’t surprise anyone to learn that after the election Fox News has imposed “radio silence” with regard to reporting Newsom’s triumph.

More than twelve hours after the race was called for Newsom, Fox News has not posted a single tweet announcing that Newsom had won. Although they did find time to tweet about the “volatile” Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne relationship, Nicki Minaj’s views on vaccines, and Rand Paul calling for another Biden staffer to be removed.

What’s more, Fox’s website also suppressed information about the recall results. There were no stories near the top of the page, but if you scrolled far enough down you would only find tangential and negatively framed articles such as…

  • Celebrities react to Gov. Gavin Newsom’s victory in his recall election
Because that’s the most important post-election analysis Fox News could muster.
  • Newest CNN hire faces backlash after comments on Newsom recall
Because reporting on other reporters takes priority over reporting actual news.
  • LA Times celebrates Gavin Newsom’s recall win over ‘extremist, intolerant’ Larry Elder: ‘A sigh of relief’
Because Fox News can’t resist accusing other media of political bias.
  • Joe Concha: Newsom victory won’t erase California’s homelessness, crime, high taxes
Because Fox apparently thinks that all political problems should be resolved a few hours after an election

Fox News spent many hours in the months before the recall election interviewing Elder and other Republican politicians and pundits. The election was cast a watershed event that would reveal the future course of California and the nation. But that was when Fox thought there was a chance that Newsom would lose. Now that he has achieved a resounding victory, Fox News is trying to pretend that the election never happened.

Don’t be surprised if Fox News never mentions the recall again. In fact, look for them to return to lying about Afghanistan, and defending the January 6th insurrectionists, and blaming low vaccination rates on Biden and Black Americans, and whatever other manufactured nonsense they’re cooking up. It’s what they do. And they won’t tolerate any real news getting in their way.

Pelosi to Gen Milley: Trump is ‘Crazy. You Know He’s Crazy. He’s Been Crazy for a Long Time’

In the fantastical final days of Donald Trump’s occupation of the White House, whatever measure of madness you might have imagined was actually much worse. Having lost so decisively to Joe Biden, a man Trump tried frame as a senile communist, threw Trump into a psychotic tailspin that was observable by all to whom he came in contact.

Donald Trump, Insane, Straight Jacket

The book new book, Peril, by Bob Woodward and Robert Costa, is described by the publisher with this alarming blurb: “The transition from President Donald J. Trump to President Joseph R. Biden Jr. stands as one of the most dangerous periods in American history.” And even that is an understatement.

RELATED: PROJECTION: Trump and Fox News Attack Nancy Pelosi’s Mental Fitness

Excerpts from the book are beginning to emerge that chronicle the days following the January 6th insurrection in Washington, D.C. Among the most harrowing accounts of Trump’s descent into madness are the conversations House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had with the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley. CNN’s Jaime Gangel brought some of the more disturbing comments to her Tuesday morning segment of Inside Politics. Gangel led off by quoting from the book that…

“General Mark Milley took top secret action to limit President Trump’s ability to make strike or to use nuclear weapons. […] Milley is deeply shaken from the assault on the Capitol on [January] 6th. He believes Trump is unstable, unpredictable, and Milley believes that Trump is in serious mental decline.”

Then Gangel recounts the contents of a startling and historic phone call between Milley and Pelosi for which Woodward and Costa had obtained an exclusive transcript. In the call Pelosi revealed that she had the same concerns as Milley:

Pelosi: Who knows what he might do? He’s crazy. You know he’s crazy. He’s been crazy for a long time. So don’t say you don’t know what his state of mind is. He’s crazy. And what he did yesterday is further evidence of his craziness.
Milley: Madame Speaker, I agree with you on everything.

Some partisan players might be inclined to dismiss the concerns of Speaker Pelosi, a longtime and loyal Democrat. But Gen. Milley is a career Army officer who was appointed to his post by Trump and confirmed by the Senate on a vote of 89 to 1 (Jeff Merkley, a Democrat, was the sole “no” vote). Milley was so afraid that Trump could “go rogue” that he took precautionary measures to intercept any orders to use nuclear weapons.

As if that weren’t bad enough, CNN also reported another conversation documented in the book. Trump’s efforts to bully Vice-President Mike Pence reveal a desperate, delusional, and dangerous soon-to-be former president:

Trump: If these people say you had the power, wouldn’t you want to?
Pence: I wouldn’t want any one person to have that authority.
Trump: But wouldn’t it be almost cool to have that power?
Pence: No. I’ve done everything I could and then some to find a way around this. It’s simply not possible.
Trump: No, no, no! You don’t understand, Mike. You can do this. I don’t want to be your friend anymore if you don’t do this.

And there we can see Trump’s emotional maturity reverting to elementary school level. Which is a key symptom of senility. The stubbornness, the anger, the vindictiveness, and the tantrum throwing when he doesn’t get his way, are all characteristics of a petulant child. No wonder the people on the inside were scared.

Unfortunately, not enough of them were scared enough to remove the twice-impeached Trump from office when they had the chance – twice. And lily-livered sycophants like GOP leaders Mitch McConnell and Kevin McCarthy only made things worse. Their docile servility to the cult of Trump has left the nation in the precarious position it is in today.

RELATED: WTF? Trump Flunkies on Fox News Blame Pelosi for Plot to Assassinate Herself

With Trump continuing to propagate the “Big Lie” about election fraud, and incite further violence and domestic terrorism (aided and abetted by Fox News), it is at least somewhat comforting that there are failsafe features in our government that can prevent lunatics like Trump, and others like him, from executing their maniacal plots. The question is, how long will that hold up if the perpetrators aren’t held accountable under the law?

UPDATE: Trump appeared on the Newsmax program hosted by his former press secretary, Sean Spicer, to respond to the excerpts from Woodward’s book. He began by accusing Milley of treason, but by the end of his rant he was attacking Woodward’s veracity. So which is it Donnie? Is it fake news or treason? Or are you just babbling again, as usual?

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Attends the Met Gala in a Dress that Really Makes a Statement

It’s that time of year again. It’s time for the “Met Gala,” an annual charity event held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The event is known for inspiring attendees to adorn themselves in unique, and often bizarre, costumes that frequently create a stir on the red carpet.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Tax the Rich

According to Wikipedia

“The Met Gala, formally called the Costume Institute Gala or the Costume Institute Benefit and also known as the Met Ball, is an annual fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City. It marks the opening of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibit.”

This year the gala was graced with the presence of the representative for New York’s 14th congressional district, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. And she arrived in an outfit that is as much a political statement as it is a fashion statement: Tax the Rich!

This should give Fox News something to talk about for the rest of the month, at least.

Fox News Openly Defends the White Supremacy and Treason of Domestic Terrorists

On the solemn anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, four presidents (Clinton, Bush, Obama, and Biden) made dignified and respectful appearances to honor the victims, heroes, and families whose lives were changed forever. These statesmen demonstrated the compassion and decency to set aside their personal interests in order to remind the nation what it means to be the “United” States of America.

Fox News, KKK

The only holdout was, of course, Donald Trump, who had a more pressing engagement to enrich himself as a commentator at an exhibition fight in Hollywood, Florida. He did put out a video that was typically dominated by tributes to himself and bitter assaults on his political foes.

On Monday morning Fox News covered some of the weekend events from a thoroughly bizarre and repugnant perspective. The segment somehow veered off into territory that had nothing to do with 9/11 (video below). At one point, co-host Rachel Campos-Duffy felt compelled to say that…

“We had a stand down on white supremacy in the military, and I guess that I’m just not seeing that that’s worthy of a stand down.”

Really? So Campos-Duffy is in favor of the military permitting white supremacy in the ranks? While it isn’t particularly noteworthy that she and others on Fox News would hold that opinion (her co-host Brian Kilmeade agreed saying that “I share your frustration”), it isn’t often that they state it so explicitly on the air.

What triggered this outburst was a discussion about remarks by George W. Bush on Saturday. In a surprisingly thoughtful address, Bush drew parallels between foreign terrorists and the homegrown variety that have been inspired by Trump and Fox News. Bush said that…

“We have seen growing evidence that the dangers to our country can come not only across borders, but from violence that gathers within. There is little cultural overlap between violent extremists abroad and violent extremists at home. But in their disdain for pluralism, in their disregard for human life, in their determination to defile national symbols, they are children of the same foul spirit.”

Campos-Duffy complained that Bush’s comments took “the focus off of who we need to be focused on.” She elaborated saying that…

“I think that motivations matter. The Islamic terrorists want to kill Americans. They hate Western civilization. They hate America. They have lots of reason for that. Regardless of what you think about what happened on Jan. 6, the people there went in with the flags. They were not America haters.”

What distinction is she making here? The motives of the Trump insurrectionists were also that they wanted to kill Americans, including Mike Pence, Nancy Pelosi, and other members of Congress. They hate Western civilization and America, as evident in their efforts to discard the Constitution and impose their own totalitarian dictatorship. Yes, they went there with flags, which they used as weapons against the police officers who were protecting the seat of American democracy. How were they not “America haters”? And Trump himself weighed in on Bush’s speech saying that…

“…he lectures us that terrorists on the ‘right’ are a bigger problem than those from foreign countries that hate America and that are pouring into our Country right now.”

Notice that Bush said nothing about the “right” or any other political ideology, but Trump recognized his own faction when he heard it described. And his assertion that foreign terrorists are “pouring into our Country right now” is just more of his delusional hyperbole. Just like his “Big Lie” about election fraud, there is no factual basis for his charges. Trump just wants to drench his cult followers in irrational fears.

Furthermore, Trump is whining (as usual) that Bush has no right to “lecture” anyone because he is responsible for thousands of deaths from the Afghanistan and Iraq wars. That may be true. But there is a nauseating sort of irony in Trump saying it considering that he is responsible for hundreds of thousands of American deaths from his negligent and incompetent mismanagement of the COVID pandemic.

In the attempt by Fox News to distinguish the crimes of the January 6th insurrectionists, and other domestic terrorists, from foreign terrorists, they actually highlighted their similarities and common purpose. And even worse, they overtly expressed their not-so-veiled racism. This isn’t new for Fox, but it nevertheless needs to be exposed and disseminated widely to remind everyone what sort of vile propaganda network the Murdochs are operating.

WHUT? Fox News Fact Checks Trump’s ‘Big Lie’ Live During His 9/11 Photo-Op

On the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, Donald Trump “honored” the occasion by appearing as the featured commentator for an exhibition fight between a couple of geezers at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida. He also released a video that barely mentioned 9/11, but instead insulted both America and President Biden as foolish and inept.

Donald Trump, Fox News, White House

However, that didn’t satisfy Trump’s obsession with attacking Biden and glorifying himself. He spent a few minutes at a New York police station with a carefully selected group of bootlickers. While there, Trump complained that Biden had visited the three sites where planes crashed on 9/11 but didn’t speak. Perhaps because Biden preferred to make the day about paying tribute to the victims and the heroes, rather than deflecting attention to himself.

Trump, on the other hand, visited none of those sites. And when he spoke it had little to do with 9/11. He spent most of his chat with the NYPD exalting himself and maligning Biden. At the end he slipped in a “thank you” for their efforts on 9/11. But he spent far more time criticizing Biden on the exit from Afghanistan, which Trump failed to accomplish in four years, and the “rigged” election that he is still – nine months later – lying about it to anyone who will listen.

What made this episode of Trump’s whining notable, was that coverage of his remarks on Fox News were abruptly cut off by anchor Arthel Neville. As Trump launched into his “Big Lie” rant he was fact checked live. Neville broke in to say that…

“[Trump] did not miss any opportunities to air grievances including claiming that the election was rigged, which it was not. It has been proven in court multiple times.”

That’s a measure of honesty that is rarely seen on Fox News. And certainly not by any of their primetime Trump-fluffers who continue to worshipfully patronize his delusions. And Neville was not alone this week. On Thursday’s edition of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Fox’s Chris Wallace was asked about interviewing Republicans who still refuse to accept that Biden was elected fair and square. Wallace said that…

“There are plenty of people who were the leaders in Congress of challenging [the election] that I just have not had on the show ever since then. And I have purposefully not had them on, frankly, because I don’t want to hear their crap.”

These moments of rational reporting on Fox News are welcome, but they should not be regarded as any indication of a change in their core mission to slander Democrats and spread right-wing propaganda. Those are still the foundations of Fox’s editorial objectives. Sean Hannity will still kiss Trump’s – let’s say ring. Tucker Carlson will still advance the agenda of America’s racist White Nationalists. And notwithstanding these brief blips of sanity, Fox News will still work tirelessly to disinform the American people, just as it has for twenty-five years.

Trump’s 9/11 Statement is a Disgusting Display of Narcissism and an Insult to America

It’s been twenty years since the United States was struck in a tragic act of terrorism. On September 11, 2001, the nation was changed in ways it could not have previously imagined. It was a day of unthinkable loss. But it was also a day that was followed by weeks and months and years of inspiring expressions of heroism, hope, and unity.

9/11

On this day of remembrance, four American presidents of both political parties – Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden – came together to pay tribute to those who were lost and those who worked tirelessly and selflessly to save lives and rebuild.

Unfortunately, there is another former president who simply doesn’t have the compassion to participate in such displays of empathy and patriotism. On this day Donald Trump released a statement that affirmed his utter absence of the basic human decency that defines America in times of hardship.

Trump’s offensive “tribute” to the victims and heroes of 9/11 lasted for about 24 seconds of the video that ran 1:44. He then spent the remainder of his remarks attacking President Biden. He began by blaming Biden for how the war in Afghanistan ended, despite the fact that it was Trump’s plan that led to the Taliban’s victory. He released 5,000 of their fighters and lifted all of the financial sanctions in what his own National Security Advisor lambasted as a surrender agreement.

Here’s a taste of Trump’s self-serving and anti-American ranting on a day that should be a solemn occasion (posted here by his spokes-shill, if you have the stomach for it):

“The leader of our country was made to look like a fool, and that can never be allowed to happen. It was caused by bad planning, incredible weakness, and leaders who truly didn’t understand what was happening. This is the 20th year of this war and should have been a year of victory, honor and strength. Instead Joe Biden and his inept administration surrendered in defeat. We will live on, but sadly our country will be wounded for a long period of time. We will struggle to recover from the embarrassment this incompetence has caused. Do not fear however. America will be made great again.”

So Trump thought it would be appropriate on this somber occasion to call our President a fool. He soiled the seriousness of the day with his jealousy and bitterness because Biden was able to accomplish goals that he could only whine about. And he abandon any effort to uplift the nation, instead fixating on the “embarrassment” and “incompetence” that he caused, but which he is impotently projecting onto Biden.

Also on this day, Trump thought it would be appropriate to “honor” its memory by partying with his boxing pals as he serves as the featured commentator for an exhibition match at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida. For fifty bucks a pop Trump is turning this anniversary into another opportunity to fleece his cult disciples.

By contrast, President Biden is visiting all three sites that were struck on 9/11. He is paying his respects to the fallen, their families, and those who sacrificed in rescue, recovery and rebuilding efforts. Biden also released a statement that should put Trump to shame (if he were capable of it). Biden said in part that…

“Unity is what makes us who we are, America at its best. To me, that is the central lesson of September 11. It’s that at our most vulnerable, in the push and pull of all that makes us human, in the battle for the soul of America, unity is our greatest strength. Unity doesn’t mean we have to believe the same thing. But we must have a fundamental faith in each other and this nation.”

The differences between Biden’s respectful and hopeful message, and Trump’s selfish, envious, and hate-filled harangue, could not be more distinct. But it is also no more than we expect from a lying, unpatriotic, greedy, sociopathic, narcissist, who couldn’t care less about this country or its people.
