Now Trump is Calling the January 6th Insurrection ‘a Hoax…Just Like Russia Russia Russia’

There is a disturbingly impressive capacity for delusion among the the cult followers of Donald Trump, also known as the Republican Party. Like any other cult, they revere Dear Leader unwaveringly, and believe everything he says, no matter how bizarre and disconnected from reality.

Donald Trump, QAnon, Dictator

On Saturday Trump held another of his traveling salivation shows. This one was in Wyoming where Trump is trying to oust Rep. Liz Cheney, a fellow Republican who he has declared insufficiently worshipful. Cheney committed the deadly sin of recognizing that Joe Biden obviously won the 2020 presidential election, and that Trump’s attempts to undermine democracy deserved a fair hearing and legal sanctions if criminality is proven.

RELATED: Liz Cheney: The ‘Supreme Dereliction of Duty’ By Trump Could Warrant Criminal Referral

Trump’s address in Wyoming, like nearly all of his public rants, was a rehashing of the tedious playlist that he regurgitates on auto-spew. So naturally he devoted significant time to his obsession with the allegations of voter fraud for which he has been unable to provide a shred of evidence after sixteen months, more than sixty court challenges, and a new crocumentary by an actual felon who was convicted of voter fraud.

What was new at this event was that Trump expanded his list of verifiable occurrences that he considers to be a hoax. In addition to his first impeachment, his second impeachment, his extortion of Ukrainian President Zelenskyy, the COVID-19 virus, the Mueller Report, climate change, the 2020 presidential election results, and his well-documented connections to Russia, Trump is now adding the January 6th insurrection. He repeatedly made the claim that it was a hoax in Wyoming saying that…

“[Russia] was a hoax. And now they’re doing it again with the January 6th.”

“As one of the nation’s leading proponents of the insurrection hoax, Liz Cheney has pushed a grotesquely false, fabricated, hysterical, partisan narrative. And that was the narrative of the day.”

“Now you look at the so called word insurrection. January 6th. What a lot of crap. And most of this country knows it. And you know who else knows it? The Democrats. It’s another con job just like Russia Russia Russia. This was made up by Hillary Clinton and the Democrats. A total fake story.”

So now Trump wants his glassy-eyed disciples to believe that the riots on Capitol Hill that everyone saw on live television, never actually happened. He has previously tried to gaslight his gullible groupies by saying that the rioters were merely peaceful protesters, or vacationing tourists, or even clandestine operatives working for Antifa and/or the FBI. But this appears to be the first time he has denied its existence.

RELATED: PolitiFact’s Lie of the Year: The January 6th Insurrection Disinformation By Trump and Fox News

Trump may have a difficult time selling this notion that the insurrection was a hoax to the populace at large. According to a recent Pew Research survey, 67% of the American people – including 41% of Republicans – said that Trump bears some or a lot of responsibility for the violence and destruction committed by some of his supporters when they broke into the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.”

Nevertheless, Trump will keep trying to peddle his pathetic lies. And his narrow assembly of Deplorables will eagerly lap it up. And as long as Trump can continue to fleece his flock, he will be satisfied. That’s the way of the Grifter.

UPDATE 6/8/2022: On Fox News, Lara Trump also calls the January 6th insurrection a hoax.

Insurrectionist Trump Toady Mo Brooks Warns that Guns Are Needed to ‘Take Back Our Government’

In the wake of the tragic massacre in Uvalde, Texas, the debate over how to prevent future such atrocities rages on in Congress and in the press. And as is common during these debates, there is an over abundance of hypocrisy, hyperbole and flagrant dishonesty.

Donald Trump Insurrection

Among the more repugnant reactions to this mass shooting at an elementary school is the one taken by Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Trumpist) of Alabama. Brooks is currently locked in tight Republican primary race for the Senate. Consequently, he is exploiting every opportunity to grab media exposure to offset the fact that he was recently un-endorsed by Donald Trump because “he went woke” by suggesting that Republicans should put the 2020 election behind them.

RELATED: At Trump Insurrection Convention GOP Rep. Mo Brooks Says to Prepare to Sacrifice Your Lives

Brooks, it should be noted, is not retracting his support for the “Big Lie” that the 2020 presidential election was “rigged,” or altering his view that “Trump was robbed.” He’s just making a political judgment that moving on would benefit GOP candidates. And if there were any doubt about his devotion to the insurrection that he helped to incite on January 6, 2021, Brooks removed it during an appearance on Fox News Sunday:

Sandra Smith: Would you support any changes to the current gun laws on the books?
Brooks: Let’s, for emphasis, understand what the 2nd Amendment is about. The 2nd Amendment is designed to help ensure that we, the citizenry, always have the right to take back our government should it become dictatorial. That was a great fear of the Founding Fathers and, quite frankly, it’s a fear today. And as long as we enjoy uninfringed Second Amendment rights then we don’t really have to worry that much about the government ever becoming dictatorial. But the moment that we take from our citizenry our ability to take our government back is the moment that the ability of dictatorial forces increases to the point where perhaps they will try to implement a dictatorial government at the federal level.

Like every other right-wing 2nd Amendment fetishist and NRA-Theist, Brooks is misinterpreting what the amendment means. It had nothing to do with rising up against the U.S. government. It was intended to ensure that citizens could arm themselves, as part of a “well regulated militia,” to defend the U.S. against foreign invaders.

What Brooks is advocating is the violent overthrow of the U.S. government in the event that he and his neo-fascist confederates disapprove of the democratic will of the American people. In other words… Insurrection! He’s proposing that seditionists take up arms against the U.S. military and fellow citizens.

This is, unfortunately, not the only ultra-idiotic opinion about guns that is emanating from the radical right. For instance…

As for Brooks, his persistent advocacy of insurrection could result in his being prohibited from holding elective office. A recent ruling by a federal appeals court found that “Candidates who take part in an insurrection may be barred from holding public office under the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution.” Upholding that ruling would go a long way toward ensuring that Trump’s brand of treason and tyranny does not threaten the principles that actually did make America great.

Trump’s NRA Speech Showed He’s Still Angry, Ignorant, and Severely Mentally Dysfunctional

History is repeating itself as the National Rifle Association (NRA) lacks the decency to postpone their annual convention taking place in Houston, Texas, just days after the tragic mass shooting of children at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas. Before a single funeral has been held, the NRA is celebrating their sick and deadly obsession with gun culture and the manufacturers who profit from it.

Click here to Tweet this article

Donald Trump AR-15

The NRA’s decision to proceed with the convention did not have the universal approval of their participants. Many canceled their planned appearances, including cowardly politicians Gov. Greg Abbott, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, and Sen. John Cornyn, as well as entertainers Don McLean, Larry Gatlin, and Lee Underwood. However, among those remaining on the schedule were Sen. Ted Cruz and, of course, former reality TV game show host, Donald Trump.

In the opening to his address, Trump exalted himself saying that “Unlike some, I didn’t disappoint you by not showing up,” Which is true. If anything, showing up was the actual disappointment. His speech was littered with tiresome tirades that have been festering within the pro-gun community for decades.

RELATED: Lauren Boebert Vies for ‘Dumbest Member of Congress’ Title: ‘We Didn’t Ban Planes’ After 9/11

For instance, Trump whined about what he called “a grotesque effort by some in our society to use the suffering of others to advance their own extreme political agenda.” Which, of course, is what he and the NRA are doing. The allegedly “grotesque efforts” he is attacking actually reflect the majority will of the American people to prevent future massacres.

Then Trump added that “Even more repulsive is their rush to shift blame away from the villains who commit acts of mass violence and to place that blame onto the shoulders of millions of peaceful law abiding citizens who belong to organizations, such as our wonderful NRA.” Which, of course, no one is doing. Rather, concerned citizens are acknowledging the role that lax regulations and access to military-style assault weapons play in the body count of innocent victims of the “villains.”

Central to Trump’s message to the NRA-Theists is the classic gun-nut doctrine of absolving firearms of having any connection to the harm they cause, and chastising Democrats for daring to want to do something about it. Trump babbled that…

“Whatever our differences may be on other issues, what on Earth is stopping Democrats from immediately passing measures to ramp up school security? How many more tragedies will it take until they agree to set aside their far left political agenda and do what is really needed and actually works.

This is not about virtue cycling, and signing. This is about blaming your enemies. No, we don’t wanna do that. This is about saving our children’s lives. Yes, that’s what we want to do. Surely we can all agree that our schools should not be the softest target. Our schools should be the single hardest target in our country.”

Let’s unpack that nonsense step by step. To begin with, Trump’s citing security cannot be taken seriously when the Uvalde massacre occurred despite the presence of many police officers who were too scared to confront a perpetrator armed with an assault weapon. Secondly, what Trump is maligning as a “far left political agenda” is actually the mainstream view of most Americans. Thirdly, what works are measures that restrict easy access to weapons of war. Fourth, accepting the definition of schools as “targets,” whether soft or hard, is patently offensive. They are learning institutions, not battlefields or prisons. The teachers are not soldiers and the students are not combatants.

What’s more, it’s hard to ignore how Trump stumbles in his remarks in a manner that exposes his mental frailty when he gets to the part about “virtue cycling, and signing.” The words he is mangling off of his TelePrompTer is the phrase “virtue signaling,” a derogatory reference to expressions of moral character. No wonder Trump is so agitated by it that he can’t even utter it correctly. But then he goes on to positively embrace the notion that “This is about blaming your enemies.” But when he heard himself make that gaffe, he pretended, as he often does, that he did it on purpose. This is the “stable genius” speaking?

Both Trump and the NRA refuse to acknowledge that guns are a significant factor in tragedies like the one that just occurred un Uvalde. They prefer to blame mental health, an issue that they are also resistant to resolving. In fact, they deliberately make it worse. The first bill that Trump signed when he began his occupation of the White House was one that reversed an Obama-era regulation that restricted gun purchases by people with mental illnesses. And Texas governor Greg Abbott cut $211 million dollars from mental health care services in his state.

RELATED: Nicolle Wallace Fact Checks Texas Gov. Abbott: We Are Not Gonna Let Him Gaslight Anybody Today

The one constant in all of this is the determination of the right to shield guns, and the corporations that manufacture and market them, from any and all responsibility for the pain they inflict on innocent victims, including children. And Trump is only to happy to obediently subjugate himself to his corporatist masters in order to secure their assistance in his quest for wealth and power.

Battle of the Goliaths of Gaslighting: Trump Calls Kellyanne Conway a Liar – and Vice Versa

The steady stream of smell-all books flowing from the ranks of former Donald Trump cranks continues to flood the literary bargain bins. The latest is Here’s the Deal by White House counselor, and “alternative facts” dispenser, Kellyanne Conway.

Click here to Tweet this article

Kellyanne Conway, Fox News

In her new book, Conway claims that she spoke with Trump following his decisive loss to Joe Biden and that she “may have been the first person Donald Trump trusted in his inner circle who told him that he had come up short this time.” If that’s true, Conway is revealing that Trump’s “inner circle” was comprised of either shameless, sycophantic cowards, or psychotics who were just as removed from reality as their Dear Leader. Or some combination of both.

RELATED: Trump Posts ‘Foolproof’ Evidence that the Election Was ‘Rigged’ But it’s Only Proof for Fools

The facts supporting Biden’s victory are overwhelming and confirmed by elections officials from all fifty states – including Republicans. No evidence of widespread voting irregularities were found after numerous recounts, audits, and more than sixty court challenges by Trump and his legal toadies.

So the fact that Trump even needed to be told that he was the loser says so much about the severity of his mental dysfunction. However, despite his having been apprised of his political belly-flop, Trump still hasn’t been convinced. And he is especially perturbed at his former PR princess for tattling on him. Trump posted his perturbance on his failing social media site PRAVDA …er… TRUTH Social:

“Kellyanne Conway never told me that she thought we lost the election. If she had, I wouldn’t have dealt with her any longer — she would have been wrong — could go back to her crazy husband. Writing books can make people say some very strange things. I wonder why? Got 12 million more votes than we did the first time, the most votes, by far, of any sitting President. The election was RIGGED. They used Covid to cheat and steal, and the evidence is massive and indisputable. See ‘2000 Mules.”

What we have here is Trump calling Conway a liar, while the revelations in her book make Trump out to be lying. And with two such formidable fountains of falsehoods, who is to be believed? Naturally, Trump’s remarks resort to infantile insults about Conway’s family. But his assertion that “Writing books can make people say some very strange things,” comes off as more of a confession considering that he just announced that he writing a new book, the title of which, “Crime of the Century,” also sounds like a confession.

It’s cute that Trump thinks that because he got more votes than he did in 2016, that it means he couldn’t have lost. Someone needs to tell him that the object is to get more votes than your opponent, not more than yourself four years earlier. And his allegedly “massive and indisputable” evidence that the election was “rigged” is based on the crocumentary “2,000” Mules,” apparently named for the numerous jackasses who are still trying to peddle the election fraud bullpucky.

RELATED: Tucker Carlson Hysterically Hypes Bogus Election ‘Fraud’ Film By Convicted Election Fraudster

Conway’s book is just the latest to disclose some of the aberrant details of Trump’s occupation of the White House. It follows tomes by his Attorney General, Bill Barr, and his Secretary of Defense, Mark Esper, and his communications director Stephanie Grisham, to name a few. And in each and every case Trump has lambasted his former confidantes as liars. So either Trump is an epically awful judge of character, or he is the king of the cretinous con artists. Or some combination of both.

Fox News Grossly Distorts Stacey Abrams’ Remarks About Living in Georgia

It’s always a simple matter to determine what and who Fox News is most afraid of at any given moment. It’s revealed in the most obvious manner in how they parcel out their outrage and air time. And as the Republican primary for governor in Georgia approaches, Fox News is, once again, showing their cards.

Click here to Tweet this article

Donald Trump, Hell Hole

The Democratic candidate for governor in Georgia, Stacey Abrams, is running unopposed in her Party. That’s providing her with a significant advantage over the Republicans who are battling over their current governor, Brian Kemp, and the Donald Trump endorsed challenger, David Perdue, who is presently behind by more than thirty points. Trump despises Kemp because he refused to obey Trump’s illegal commands to overturn Georgia’s election results that affirmed Joe Biden’s victory.

RELATED: Trump’s Impotent and Insane Letter Asking Georgia to ‘Decertify’ the 2020 Election

In an effort to impede Abrams’ momentum, The “Curvy Couch” potatoes of Fox and Friends did a segment that was wholly derogatory and dishonest (video below). They played a portion of a recent speech that they deceptively edited and took completely out of context, focusing on a sentence fragment that they could mangle into something incendiary and misleading. What Abrams actually said was that…

“I am tired of hearing about how we’re the best state in the country to do business when we are the worst state in the country to live. Now, somebody’s gonna try to PolitiFact me on this, so let me contextualize. When you’re number 48 for mental health, when we’re number one for maternal mortality, when you have an incarceration rate that’s on the rise and wages that are on the decline, then you are not the number one place to live in the United States. But we can get there.”

The part that Fox News glommed onto was the snippet about Georgia being “the worst state in the country to live.” Knowing that unscrupulous right-wingers would try to twist her words, she immediately made it clear that she was talking about some of the areas in which the current GOP governor was failing the people and the state.

That’s actually a common campaign message by a candidate for any office who is challenging an incumbent. You point out the shortcomings of your opponent and explain how you will improve things. And that’s what Abrams did, even promising a brighter future saying that “we can get there.”

However, Fox News left out the optimistic part of Abrams’ speech so that they could falsely accuse her of insulting the state she’s running to lead. And they totally ignore the realities of campaigning that include exposing your opponent’s weaknesses.

What makes this all the more despicable is that Fox News never holds Republicans to the same standard. Especially not their Dear Leader Trump. There is no politician in modern times who has been more offensive in maligning America than Trump. He often refers to the U.S. as weak and stupid. And his vile, anti-patriotic attacks frequently cast the U.S. as a province of Hades. For instance…

Despite Trump’s obvious contempt for America, his disdain for Gov. Kemp is even greater. So he gave a sort of backhanded endorsement to Abrams last September saying that “having her I think might be better than having your existing governor.” What’s more, his anti-Kemp crusade has produced a backlash that is causing Republicans to vow not to vote for Kemp next November.

That could put Abrams in the awkward position of having to thank Trump for his help during her victory speech. Not that Trump really deserves thanks just for being a hate-filled ignoramus.

Donald Trump Whines to Fox News that He Wants His (Putrid) Reputation Back? – He Can Have It!

This week the right-wing media mob became fixated on flogging yet another baseless pseudo-scandal involving former senator and Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton. It’s rather impressive how, after thirty years, Clinton still manages to send tingles up the spongy spines of the Deplorable press.

Click here to Tweet this article

Donald Trump

The subject of this wholly contrived non-controversy was a report concerning the testimony of Clinton’s former campaign manager, Robby Mook in a show trial led by special clown-sel, John Durham. Most of the reporting parroted the same deliberate distortions that Fox News disseminated in their predictably biased coverage.

SEE: Media Freaks Out Over Fake News that Hillary Clinton Approved Trump/Russia Campaign Stories

On Sunday Fox News followed up their story with a response from Donald Trump. But first they had to reiterate the falsehoods that they dispensed in the original report. In the opening sentence Fox stated that “Hillary Clinton herself approved the dissemination of false information.” Which is utterly untrue and not supported by their own article.

The campaign did not regard the information as false. In fact, it was deemed credible at the time by multiple sources. And they disseminated it to a reporter who they expected would conduct a more in depth investigation. That’s actually the responsible course of action. Nevertheless, Fox News sought a response from Trump who could only be relied on to muddy the matter further. Which he did…

“‘This is one of the greatest political scandals in history,’ Trump told Fox News Saturday morning. ‘For three years, I had to fight her off, and fight those crooked people off, and you’ll never get your reputation fully back. Where do I get my reputation back?’ Trump said again. ‘I had to fight them off,’ Trump said. ‘And if we had real leadership, instead of people like Mitch McConnell, they would do something about it. And guys like Bill Barr. They would have done something about it.’ [and that it] distracted officials from what ‘could have been a real danger with Russia.'”

Trump is right about this being “one of the greatest political scandals in history.” Just not the one in his delusional mind. The fact that he and his campaign corroborated so often with Russia is unprecedented. And his complaints that rabidly partisan players like McConnell and Barr weren’t sufficiently corrupt for his purposes only makes him look even more guilty.

However, what stands out in this tirade is Trump’s pleading that he get his reputation back. Really? He wants to restore a reputation best known for dishonesty, corruption, hostility, malignant narcissism, and jaw-dropping ignorance? He wants to refresh the public’s impression of him as the ultimate loser and recidivist failure? Okay, fine. Let him have it.

As for Fox News, their reputation isn’t any better. The same article brazenly lied about Trump’s unsavory connections to Russia, and his infatuation with Vladimir Putin, saying that…

“After nearly two years, Mueller’s investigation yielded no evidence of criminal conspiracy or coordination between the Trump campaign and Russian officials during the 2016 presidential election.”

After three years Fox News is still peddling the falsehood that Mueller found no evidence of Trump colluding with Russia or violating the law. To the contrary, in his Senate testimony Mueller explicitly told the House Judiciary Committee Chairman, Jerry Nadler, that Trump was not, as he repeatedly lied, “totally exonerated.” And in another exchange with Rep. Adam Schiff, Mueller confirmed that “Trump and his campaign welcomed and encouraged Russian interference [and] lied about it to cover it up.”

SEE Exoneration? Collusion? Obstruction? Trump’s Fate is Sealed By 3 Brief Exchanges with Mueller

So if that’s the reputation that Trump wants back, he’s more than welcome to it. In fact, he never lost it to begin with. After all, he worked so hard to slather it with sleaze and drench it in disgrace that it would be a shame to let that go to waste. And it’s rather humorous that Trump thinks his reputation was taken from him. Because. seriously, who else would want it?

Media Freaks Out Over Fake News that Hillary Clinton Approved Trump/Russia Campaign Stories

Nothing thrills the press like the stench of a budding scandal involving a prominent public figure. And for thirty years Hillary Clinton has been at the top of the media’s hit list, despite never having confirmed a single episode of wrongdoing. And after being out of government service for six years, she remains a prime target of the press.

Click here to Tweet this article

Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump

The latest hysterical outrage was triggered by reports of testimony by former Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook in a case brought to trial by John Durham, the special counsel appointed by Donald Trump’s Attorney General Bill Barr. Durham’s mandate was to vindicate Trump by fabricating phony charges of misconduct related to his unsavory connections to Russia and Vladimir Putin.

RELATED: Trump Whines that the Media Didn’t Fall for the Durham Nothingburger About Clinton ‘Spying’

The news reports covering Mook’s testimony were mostly wild distortions of the actual facts. Even CNN played into it with a story headlined “Hillary Clinton personally approved plan to share Trump-Russia allegation with the press in 2016, campaign manager says.” However, that is not what Mook’s testimony said at all. After repeating the falsehood in the headline, a more accurate description was given in the article’s opening paragraphs:

“Robby Mook said he attended a meeting with other senior campaign officials where they learned about strange cyberactivity that suggested a relationship between the Trump Organization and Alfa Bank, which is based in Moscow. The group decided to share the information with a reporter, and Mook subsequently ran that decision by Clinton herself. ‘We discussed it with Hillary,’ Mook said, later adding that ‘she agreed with the decision.'”

So what Mook actually said was that the decision was already made and acted upon, and was brought to Clinton after the fact, where she agreed with what had already been done. The stories that say that she “approved the plan” suggest that she was informed in advance and gave it a greenlight. In reality, Clinton merely expressed her agreement, perhaps after her staff had already executed the plan.

What’s worse is that many stories are circulating through the conservative media asserting that Clinton not only gave the plan a go-ahead, but that she contrived it herself and “knew” that it was false. That could not be farther from the truth. The unexplained cyberactivity connecting Trump to the Russian bank was first observed by independent tech investigators. Reports of those observations were later brought to the attention of the Clinton campaign who had every reason to regard them as credible. Mook testified that the campaign passed the information on to the press with the intention that they would investigate and either confirm or refute it.

All of these deliberate distortions of both the cyberactivity, and the Clinton campaign’s role in publicizing it, are part of the right-wing Durham crusade to distract the public from the documented connections between Trump and Russia. They add to prior distortions by Durham and company that Trump used to falsely claim that his campaign had been spied on.

For the record, there were numerous documented contacts between the Trump camp and Russian operatives during and after the 2016 presidential election. And Trump himself publicly asked Russia to interfere in the election by hacking into Clinton’s emails. Many of these activities were catalogued in the book Russian Roulette: The Inside Story of Putin’s War on America and the Election of Donald Trump, by Michael Isikoff and David Corn.

RELATED: Trump Doubles Down on His Treasonous Putin Puffery While Continuing to Insult Biden and America

Trump’s doting affinity for Putin is well known. He has spent the past six years fawning over Putin and advancing the interests of Russia. And that extends to the present as Trump takes Putin’s side in the War in Ukraine. Meanwhile, the press is unfairly hammering Clinton who got Trump’s unpatriotic behaviors right all along.

Hungarian Dictator Orbán Lauds Tucker Carlson at CPAC, Says He ‘Should Be Broadcasted 24/7’

The Republican Party, under the spell of wannabe dictator Donald Trump, has embarked on an unalterable march toward authoritarianism. They have embraced a doctrine of total fealty to Dear Leader Trump whom they would grant absolute power to rule without regard to Constitutional law or human decency.

Click here to Tweet this article

Fox News, Tucker Carlson, Dictator

The latest evidence of that abandonment of American principles of liberty comes with this year’s Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) that is being held in the neo-fascist haven of Hungary. The location of this confab is likely due to the recent drooling idolatry of Hungarian dictator Viktor Orbán by aspiring tyrant Trump and Fox News host Tucker Carlson.

SEE: Trump Endorses the Fascist Wannabe Dictator Viktor Orbán of Hungary Because – Of Course He Does

AND: Fox News Fascinista, Tucker Carlson, Cozies Up to Hungary’s Authoritarian PM Orban

During his address at CPAC, Orbán wasn’t shy about expressing his appreciation for the autocracy he has built in Hungary. And he had ready advice for those who would like to follow in his oppressive bootsteps:

“‘“Have your own media. It’s the only way to point out the insanity of the progressive left,’ he said. ‘The problem is that the western media is adjusted to the leftist viewpoint.'”

Orbán has taken his own advice. He has virtually shut down the independent press in Hungary. What’s left are only government run outlets that regurgitate exclusively pro-Orbán propaganda. It’s from that perspective that he complains about western media being too “adjusted to the leftist viewpoint.” By which he means having the freedom of speech that allows independent journalism.

CPAC’s anti-free press positions fit right in with their Hungarian hosts. They have actually barred many reporters from covering the event, including the New Yorker, Vox Media, Vice News, Rolling Stone, and the Associated Press. But according to Orbán, conservatives in the west are overwhelmed by liberals:

“‘Of course, the GOP has its media allies but they can’t compete with the mainstream liberal media. My friend, Tucker Carlson is the only one who puts himself out there,’ he said. ‘His show is the most popular. What does it mean? It means programs like his should be broadcasted day and night. Or as you say 24/7.'”

First of all, let’s dispense with Orbán’s preposterous analysis of the press in America. Fox News is not only able to compete, it is the highest rated cable news network in the United States. And Orbán knows that. He is obviously a Fox News fan as evidenced by his effusive fawning for Tucker Carlson. However, his proposal to have Carlson on the air twenty-four hours a day is not just a prescription for propaganda, it could be classified as torture.

For his part, Carlson sent a video message to CPAC extolling the virtues of Orbán’s authoritarianism. He described Hungary as providing a “signpost to a better way” for America. Which is the best evidence to date that Carlson seeks to turn the U.S. into the same sort of totalitarian dystopia that Hungary has become under Orbán.

Trump also made some remarks at CPAC via phone from Mar-a-Lago. He predictably slobbered over his pal Orbán saying that “He’s a great leader, a great gentleman, and he just had a very big election result. I was very honored to have endorsed him.” It’s no coincidence that both Carlson and Orbán and Trump share the same love for Vladimir Putin. And for you apocalypse watchers, those might be the fabled “four horsemen” right there.

Madison Cawthorn Threatens a ‘Dark MAGA’ Uprising After Losing His GOP Reelection Bid

“It’s time for the rise of the new right, it’s time for Dark MAGA to truly take command. We have an enemy to defeat, but we will never be able to defeat them until we defeat the cowardly and weak members of our own party. Their days are numbered. We are coming.”

That should send a shiver down your spine, or at least a hearty guffaw through your spinning head. Cawthorn is clearly adrift in the bowels of extremist crackpottery. He is among the irredeemable Deplorables of the ultra-right. And his reference to the cartoon villainy of “Dark MAGA” makes this a good time to reprise the following primer on the subject:

Dark MAGA? Is A Mash Up of Trump and QAnon Forming that is Even More Dangerous and Violent?

If you thought that the dystopian cult that sprung from Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) crusade was bad, you aint seen nothin’ yet. The messiah worship that is prevalent among the Trumpist wackos is continuing to evolve in the most foreboding fashion imaginable.

Newsweek is reporting on the emergence of an offshoot of the Trump Cult that has been anointed “Dark MAGA.” The article describes this budding Internet trend as…

“A small fringe of Donald Trump’s supporters [that] is calling for the former president to get back on the highest stage of U.S. politics with a vengeance with the motto: #DarkMAGA. More of a meme than a political slogan, Dark MAGA is a post-alt-right aesthetic that promotes an authoritarian version of Trump.”

RELATED: Trump Says ‘I Am the Chosen One’ After Tweeting that He’s ‘The Second Coming of God’

One has to wonder how “an authoritarian version of Trump” differs from the version that has been polluting American society for the past several years. Setting aside the obvious similarities, Newsweek goes on to paint a chilling, but accurate portrait of the Dark MAGA minions saying that…

“Dark MAGA supporters are calling for a ruthless, unforgiving version of Trump to take revenge on his political enemies at the 2024 election [and that] Many of the messages posted by Dark MAGA supporters incite violence and contain misogynistic and/or racist comments.”

Once again, how does that make these MAGAts in any way distinguishable from the standard variety of Trumpish pestilence? Is there some obscure Trump sect that is NOT ruthless, unforgiving, vengeful, and hateful? If so, they’re doing a darn good job of concealing their existence. And from their secret lair they still manage to promulgate the themes of MAGAism. Which are conspicuously similar to those of QAnon:

“According to [UNC Prof. Alice E.] Marwick, the result of this is a ‘heavy victim mentality’ among some Trump supporters. ‘The general messaging that the Democrats are evil, that children are under threat, that people may need to take extreme acts, even political violence to protect their children and their values, I think is consistent across the (far-right) spectrum,’ says Marwick.”

So the question as to the alleged dawning of Dark MAGA is this: Is it really any darker than what produced the January 6th insurrection? The promotion of white nationalism? The loss of 1,000,000+ Americans due to COVID? The treasonous embrace of murderous tyrants like Vladimir Putin? The contempt for the Constitution and the law? The spreading of racism, misogyny, and homophobia? The ceaseless lying? The undermining of democracy? The defiling of faith? The division of the American people? The assault on the free press and the media? And the march toward authoritarianism?

MAGA is already a movement that has sought to sabotage virtually every institution that sustains a free society: government, law, media, arts, academia, science, religion, family, philanthropy, and economics. And the advent of Dark MAGA doesn’t alter that one bit. It is simply a new name for an old poison. It is nothing more than the already noxious manifestation of Dark Trump. And the antidote is still the glaring light of truth and a commitment to flushing Trumpism out of the body politic.

Donald Trump has been fomenting violence from the very beginning of his political career. And Cawthorn surely has a future in that Trumpian underworld where JFK Jr is still alive and will be Trump’s running mate in 2024. He may be angling for job at Newsmax or OAN. Either that or he’ll be moved into a serene rest home where his delusions can’t hurt anybody.

Either way, the future of Dark MAGA has its own unique path forward. Will it burn out in a year or two, or settle in with other conspiracy theories like the faked moon landing and the invasion of the Lizard people? Tune in next time. Same bat(shit) channel.

Trump Could Make TRUTH Social Pay Him for Content, Even If it’s Dishonest, Illegal, or Immoral

The more we learn about Donald Trump’s Twitter clone, TRUTH Social, the more it appears to be just another in a long line of scams by Trump whose only purpose is to fatten his wallet and fleece his half-witted flock. The Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), his social media venture, is heading down the same corrupt path as his phony university and his fraudulent charity.

Trump Baby on Cash Pile

Mother Jones is reporting on a recent filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission by Digital World Acquisition Corp (DWAC), the shady shell company that Trump is using to give his enterprise a presence on Wall Street. And, as revealed in the filing, the terms of the licensing agreement with Trump have all of the elements of the unscrupulous brand of business affairs that are the hallmarks of Trump’s malpractice. To begin with, the filling notes that…

“TMTG’s future success will depend, to a significant extent, upon the continued presence and popularity of President Trump. If President Trump were to discontinue his relationship with TMTG due to death, disability, or any other reason, or limit his involvement with TMTG due to becoming a candidate for political office, TMTG would be significantly disadvantaged.”

Relying on Trump’s popularity is a profoundly shaky foundation for success. The twice-impeached, former reality TV game show host lost the popular vote twice and never had an approval rating that approached 50%. A majority of Americans say he’s responsible for the violent January 6th insurrection. And even 49% of Republicans don’t want him to run in 2024.

What’s the more, the prospects of Trump discontinuing his relationship with his site for the reasons stated (“death, disability, or any other reason”) are almost inevitable. And in any case, Trump isn’t even obligated to post anything at all on the site. However, the filing notes that the site may be obligated to pay him for posting content. So he has wrangled another way to squeeze dough from his dimwit disciples. And the substance of the content he provides has no ethical boundaries. According the the filing…

“TMTG has entered into a license agreement with President Trump wherein neither the personal nor political conduct of President Trump, even if such conduct could negatively reflect on TMTG’s reputation or brand or be considered offensive, dishonest, illegal, immoral, or unethical, or otherwise harmful to TMTG’s brand or reputation, shall be considered a breach of the license agreement.”

That’s a necessary contractual provision with Trump, since he is notorious for “offensive, dishonest, illegal, [and] immoral” conduct. Even now the SEC is investigating whether TMTG and DWAC executives improperly coordinated with each other and engaged in insider trading. They have also partnered with a Chinese firm with a dubious legal past. And the filing even mentions Trump’s prior business failures including…

“…the bankruptcies of Trump Taj Mahal, Trump Plaza, and Trump Castle, and the failures of Trump University, Trump Vodka, and Trump Steaks, among others. […] Digital World said in its filing: A number of companies that were associated with President Trump have filed for bankruptcy. There can be no assurances that TMTG will not also become bankrupt.”

There is considerable speculation on Wall Street that Trump’s social media sham won’t ever get off the ground. DWAC stock price is down about 65% from its recent high just a couple of months ago. And while Trump has said that he won’t go back on Twitter even if Elon Musk’s bid is successful (doubtful) and his account is reinstated, he lies too much for that – or anything else he says – to be taken seriously.

Meanwhile, Trump’s Twitter ban defying spokes-shill, Liz Harrington, has announced that “I will soon no longer be posting on Twitter. This is a terrible website that is beyond fixing.” She doesn’t say how soon “soon” is (and she is just as likely to be lying as Trump), but the reaction in the replies to her alleged farewell announcement are enthusiastically supportive and downright gleeful:
