WTF? Fox News Hosts Argue to End Trump Prosecutions Because of – Hamas Terrorism in Israel?

It has been a week since the terrorists of Hamas launched a savage surprise assault on civilians in Israel. That assault predictably led to the Israeli Defense Forces mounting a campaign to root out the perpetrators and to prevent further hostilities against innocent citizens from many countries, including the United States. It was the commencement of a conflagration that will likely produce even more tragic casualties.

Laura Ingraham, Fox News, Goofy

Here at home, the ultra-rightist propaganda machine we know as Fox News set out to relieve the Hamas terrorists from responsibility and instead assign blame to President Biden and, more broadly, to America. The “Blame America First” brigade manufactured wholly dishonest allegations that the Biden administration was somehow responsible for the attack. Donald Trump was among the anti-America crowd with his preposterous assertion that “American taxpayer dollars helped fund these attacks, which many reports are saying came from the Biden Administration.” It is smear campaign so ridiculous that even a Fox News reporter shot it down.

SEE THIS: Even Fox News Exposes GOP Lies on the War in Israel and How the Party Harms National Security

Undeterred by facts or reason, shills at Fox News have escalated their traitorous tirades. And having apparently run out of their garden variety garbage, they are now stirring up cocktails of crackpottery that are absurd even by their screwball standards.

On Tuesday night’s episode of Laura Ingraham’s program, she endeavored to combine two subjects that couldn’t be farther apart. In a segment wherein she criticized President Biden for daring to speak eloquently about America’s commitment to Israel and our rejection of hate groups here at home, Ingraham spit out a puzzling and perverse argument on behalf of her Dear Leader Trump…

Biden (on video): Let’s be real clear. There is no place for hate in America.
Ingraham: Okay. Well, if he’s really against hate, then he should call a prosecutorial cease-fire against his political adversaries like the former president, and direct his DOJ and DHS to stop making conservative Americans feel like they are the enemy or like they’re the violent extremists out there.

HUH? What does Biden’s message opposing hate have to do with the prosecution of Trump on 91 felony counts for which there is abundant evidence of his guilt? Her use of the terms of war (i.e. “cease fire”) are deliberate attempts to inflame irrational outrage on the part of her cult viewers. And the Departments of Justice and Homeland Security are doing their jobs to protect Americans and hold violent lawbreakers, including Trump, accountable.

What’s more, Biden has been acting ethically in office by not interfering with the administration of justice, which Ingraham is now imploring him to do. That sort of interference and abuse of power is what Trump has explicitly promised to do if he were to be reelected. But it is contrary to the principles of law that have governed this nation since its founding.

In addition to Ingraham, Fox’s Mark Levin likewise conflated Trump’s legal tribulations with the terrorism in the Middle East. Levin made the following comments on his program, which Trump promptly quoted on his failing social media scam, Truth Social

“Meanwhile, this lowlife, Jack Smith, and his master, the lowlife attorney general, continue their fascistic campaign against Trump, even now, as it becomes crystal clear to more and more Americans that Trump brought historic peace to the Middle East while the regime has blown it up and betrayed the Israelis.”

That comment is wrong on so many levels. First of all, Trump is hiding behind Levin’s words to avoid – he thinks – being found in contempt of court for violating the order to refrain from disparaging the court’s officers. Secondly, he still has no idea what “fascism” means. Third, he is quite obviously lying about having “brought peace to the Middle East.” He is also lying about Biden having “betrayed the Israelis,” who have been profusely expressing their gratitude to Biden and America for their unwavering support.

Of course, both Levin and Ingraham are making no sense at all with their juxtaposition of Trump’s legal problems with the Hamas attacks. But then, when have the brazenly biased attacks by Fox News ever made any sense? That isn’t even their purpose. The only objective of the mostly incomprehensible commentaries on Fox News is to enrage their audience and incite hostilities toward Democrats. And that doesn’t require logic or facts or anything resembling reality.

While Fox News Bashes Biden on Israel, Netanyahu Thanks Him for His ‘Incredible Support’

As the Hamas assault on Israel continues, the efforts by Republicans to politicize the terrorist atrocities grow ever more repugnant and despicably dishonest. They simply can’t resist any opportunity to demean America’s mission to aid Israel, even if – or especially if – it means maligning President Biden and other Democrats.

Fox News, Joe Biden

Naturally, The GOP’s Ministry of Propaganda, Fox News, is at the forefront of disseminating lies and deliberate disinformation in pursuit of their partisan political goals. They would rather engage in smear campaigns against their domestic electoral foes, than to stand up for their international allies who are suffering a torrent of savagery. Consequently, the narrative at Fox News is that this is all somehow President Biden’s fault. It’s such a ridiculous proposition that Fox News can’t even sustain it…

SEE THIS: Even Fox News Exposes GOP Lies on the War in Israel and How the Party Harms National Security

To no one’s surprise, Donald Trump is thoroughly bought into the “Blame America First” brigade. And on Wednesday he gave a speech wherein praised the terrorists who are massacring innocent Israelis, and turned his wrath on our Israeli allies, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who Trump may have been angry with for showing solidarity with Biden.

Trump’s tirade led to the Israeli Communications Minister, Shlomo Karhi, responding to say that it is “shameful that a man like that, a former US president, abets propaganda and disseminates things that wound the spirit of Israel’s fighters and its citizens. We don’t have to bother with him and the nonsense he spouts.” And Netanyahu expressed his unreserved gratitude to America in general, and Biden in particular, in a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, saying…

“Mr. Secretary. My good friend, Tony. Thank you, thank President Biden, and thank you to the American people for your incredible support for Israel in our war against the barbarians of Hamas.”

It’s notable that Fox News covered that part of the Blinken/Netanyahu summit. But rest assured that it will not likely be repeated on their primetime Trump-fluffing programs. Nor will they air Netanyahu embracing Biden’s support and praising America “for standing with Israel today, tomorrow, and always.”

Much of Fox’s coverage of the Hamas crusade against Israel seeks to preposterously accuse Biden of providing the financing for it. They cite a recent prisoner swap agreement with Iran wherein the U.S. relaxed sanctions of $6 billion of Iranian money that was frozen in South Korean banks. None of that money, however, would go to the Iranian regime. It was to be held in Qatar and used only for verified humanitarian purposes that would have to be approved by the U.S. And now even that usage has been suspended.

What’s more, Fox News further sought to blame Biden for what they called the “lack of Senate confirmed elected officials” in foreign policy and military positions. However, Fox didn’t bother to mention that those vacancies were due to Senate Republicans obstructing the confirmation of nominees that the White House had already put forward.

It’s profoundly damaging to the national security interests of the United States for Republicans and Fox News to be so brazenly disparaging of America and its allies during a time of crisis. But that’s where we are now as the MAGA GOP exerts their unsavory influences on the nation via their MAGA media outlets. It’s just further proof that they care more about their political prospects than they do about their fellow American, or the country, or the world.

Fox News Blames Biden for the Lack of Foreign Policy Officials – That Republicans Have Blocked

The catastrophic conflagration in the Middle East continues as Hamas terrorists persist in attacking Israeli civilians while threatening to murder innocent hostages, including children. Meanwhile, the United States, under President Biden’s leadership, has effectively rallied its allies around the world to affirm their support for Israel and to condemn the atrocities of Hamas and all acts of terrorism and war crimes.

Fox News, Joe Biden, Fake News

Unfortunately, America’s steadfast opposition to the perpetrators of crimes against humanity is not shared by all in the Republican Party and its Ministry of Propaganda, Fox News. Led by their Dear Leader Donald Trump, many in the GOP and their aligned right-wing media rushed to assign responsibility for the Hamas savagery to Biden, dishonestly and grotesquely accusing him of financing the barbarism.

SEE THIS: Trump’s ‘Blame America First’ MAGA GOP Aims Their Fire at Biden Rather than Hamas Terrorists

On Tuesday morning, Fox News host Emily Compagno joined the “Blame America First” brigade. In a thoroughly untruthful tirade, she lashed out at Biden, saying that he “has set the tone for a lack of response.” Whereupon she imparted almost verbatim part of an article published in “Foreign Policy.”

Note that Compagno is upset about the “lack of Senate confirmed elected officials.” But, of course, Senate confirmed officials are not elected, and elected officials are not Senate confirmed. Then she gave her edited version of what the actual article said. Which was…

“At the time of the deadly Hamas attack on Israel, Washington’s closest ally in the Middle East, the United States had no confirmed ambassadors to Israel, Egypt, Oman, or Kuwait. The State Department’s top counterterrorism envoy position has sat empty for more than two years, the top human rights envoy position—the assistant secretary of state for democracy, human rights, and labor—has been unfilled for the entirety of the Biden administration, and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has not had a top Middle East official in nearly three years.”

However, Compagno deliberately left out the paragraphs that followed the part she robotically recited. The article went on to say that…

“The mostly empty bench is due to a nearly broken Senate confirmation process, where nominees have languished in limbo for months or even years due to the ‘new normal’ practice of Republican senators placing sweeping holds on all nominees for different agencies over policy disputes with the administration. On the Pentagon side, hundreds of senior military posts are on indefinite pause due to Sen. Tommy Tuberville’s blanket hold on nominees over the Biden administration’s abortion access policies for the military—including senior officials at U.S. Central Command, which oversees the Middle East. At the State Department, Republican Sen. Rand Paul has held numerous nominees over access to documents on the origins of COVID-19, while fellow Republican Sens. J.D. Vance and Ted Cruz have also previously issued holds.”

So what Compagno omitted were merely the facts that revealed that it wasn’t Biden who “set the tone for a lack of response.” It was the Republicans in Congress who worked to purposefully sabotage the Biden administration, and therefore America and its allies, by hamstringing its ability conduct critical national security affairs.

This is business as usual for both Republicans and Fox News. They have always cared more about trying to cripple their political opponents, and advancing their own hunger for power, than about the welfare of the nation or the world. It’s an obsession for totalitarian control that has driven the right for decades. And Trump is just the most recent personification of their fantasy strongman/dictator.

Despite the right’s determined efforts to impede the goals of Biden and America, the President has performed remarkably well. He successfully brought together our allies in support of Israel. And that success was notice by the Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations, who told NBC News that “Right now we are grateful to President Biden and his administration. I think they are helping us a lot.”

Surprisingly, even the Chief National Security Correspondent for Fox News, Jennifer Griffin, debunked the lies that have been told by Republicans and other Fox News shills, accusing Biden of being responsible for the attack on Israel. If she continues to do that sort of reporting she might just end up with an Emmy – and a pink slip from Fox.

Fox News Floats Inane Theory that Every Democrat Would Vote for Trump for House Speaker

In the continuing soap opera that is the Republican Party in the House of Representatives, the aftermath of the ouster of Squeaker McCarthy has ignited a firestorm of intramural fury within the GOP. They have commenced their circular firing squads and set a near certain course for the minority in 2024.

Donald Trump TV Set

The animosity between the establishment McCarthy supporters and the MAGA fringe faction is boiling over. The latter regard the former as RINOs, and the former regard the latter as traitors. Even as McCarthy has begun to walk back his promise not to seek a return to the speakership, his minions are reportedly plotting to banish the lead instigator of the Speaker’s coup, Matt Gaetz, from Congress.

SEE THIS: GOP-ers Ponder Expelling Matt Gaetz for Ethics Violations After His Failed Shutdown Scheme

Terrified of being ignored for a nanosecond, Donald Trump has waddled into the debate with fantasies of his own promotion from political loser to House Cat Herder. And the Senior Trump-Fluffer on Fox News, Sean Hannity, was quick to jump on board with support for this preposterous notion. However, the “Curvy Couch” potatoes of Fox and Friends have some even nuttier notions. On Monday morning, co-host Steve Doocy dropped this slice of silliness…

“Donald Trump can’t be Speaker right now because there is a House rule that restricts people with felony indictments from House leadership, and because he is facing all those charges. The House certainly could change it, but I was talking to somebody down in DC yesterday.”

Let’s interrupt Doocy here to note that he is correct about the Republican Conference rule prohibiting any member from serving in a leadership post if they have been “indicted for a felony for which a sentence of two or more years imprisonment may be imposed.” But if you’ve only been indicted for a felony with a one year sentence, you’re cool. And, yeah, they could change that rule if they don’t mind the optics of embracing leaders with even more serious pending felonies. Like Trump, who has 91, so far. Then Doocy went to say…

“Just imagine if somebody put Donald Trump’s name into nomination. Every Democrat would vote for Donald Trump because, if you look at X (Twitter) right now, the White House and the DNC, they are talking about all the chaos on the Republican side with the Capitol coup. They would love the chaos to continue. So if Donald Trump were in nomination, every Democrat in the House would vote for him. And he only needs five Republicans. He could be – if they change that rule – the next Speaker. That would be crazy!

The idea that Democrats would vote en masse to make Trump Speaker of the House is beyond absurd. Democrats are not needed to help Republicans produce chaos. Republicans do that quite well all by themselves. And while Doocy is correct that Democrats – and everyone else in Washington – are aware of the chaos created by GOP incompetence, Democrats are not in favor of chaos. They would prefer it if Congress could behave like adults and pass bills that benefit the American people.

What’s more, if Democrats don’t want Trump to be president, what makes Doocy think they would want him to be Speaker? That would be – as Doocy aptly describes it – “crazy!” And that should go for Republicans too. If there is any plausible chance for a Trump speakership, it would only be by a majority of Republicans voting for him, along with a handful of prankster Democrats. And even that is highly unlikely.

If any party is angling for chaos, it’s the Republicans. They are the ones who orchestrated this Speaker debacle. They are the ones who nearly pushed the nation, and the world, into an economic collapse by threatening to default on the debt. They are the ones who wanted a devastating government shutdown. For Fox News to suggest that it’s the Democrats who are the chaos agents is just plain dishonest and/or idiotic. In other words, it’s business as usual at Fox News.

Even Fox News Exposes GOP Lies on the War in Israel and How the Party Harms National Security

This week Hamas terrorists launched a horrific attack on Israel that has resulted in the deaths of hundreds of civilians and put the nation in a wartime state in order to retaliate and protect the innocent from further harm. The United States and it allies around the world have come together to condemn Hamas and to commit to standing by Israel in these dire times.

Fox News Sad

Sadly, not everyone in the U.S. is aligned with their nation when it comes to assigning responsibility for the terrorism. Led by Donald Trump, many in the Republican Party couldn’t wait to blame America in general, and President Biden in particular, for the unprovoked aggression.

SEE THIS: Trump’s ‘Blame America First’ MAGA GOP Aims Their Fire at Biden Rather than Hamas Terrorists

Along with Trump, fellow travelers like GOP House majority leader, Steve Scalise, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Sen. J.D. Vance, became charter members of the “Blame America First” caucus in Congress. And the field of GOP presidential candidates lied in unison about Biden’s alleged appeasement of Hamas benefactors in Iran. For instance…

  • Trump: “This would have never happened with me,” and that “American taxpayer dollars helped fund these attacks.”
  • Ron DeSantis: “Joe Biden’s policies that have gone easy on Iran have helped fill their coffers.”
  • Tim Scott: “The Biden $6 billion ransom payment at work.”
  • Mike Pence: “This is what happens when America’s president projects weakness on the world stage, kowtows to the mullahs in Iran with a $6 Billion ransom.”
  • Vivek Ramaswamy: “America’s broken foreign policy establishment knew they were funding Hamas & went ahead with it anyway.”
  • Chris Christie: “This terrorism is funded by Biden’s idiotic release of $6 billion to the Iranians.”

What these cretins are referring to is $6 billion of Iranian funds that had been frozen in South Korean banks. The U.S. agreed to release those funds to Qatar in a prisoner exchange. Qatar would then dispense them only for verified humanitarian purposes and only after approval from the U.S. For the record, Adrienne Watson, a spokeswoman for the White House National Security Council, responded to the America-bashing Republicans saying that

“I can clarify the facts: Not a single cent from these funds has been spent, and when it is spent, it can only be spent on things like food and medicine for the Iranian people. These funds have absolutely nothing to do with the horrific attacks today and this is not the time to spread disinformation.”

Surprisingly, an ordinarily staunch right-wing voice on matters such as these was marching out of step with their Republican confederates. Fox News reporter Jennifer Griffin did a segment wherein she actually told the truth to a Fox News audience that is unaccustomed to hearing it. She said correctly that…

“The $6 billion is still currently held in a Qatari bank account with U.S. Treasury oversight. The money came from Iranian oil sales to South Korea and did not include U.S. Taxpayer dollars.”

Once again, that was on Fox News, where it will soon be refuted by their primetime anchors. And Griffin might want to start looking for a new job. But if that weren’t enough, Griffin also noted that the disarray of Republicans in Congress is hampering the U.S. ability to come to the aid of Israel, saying that…

“Referring to that $2 billion in weapons that the U.S. stores in Israel, I would expect to see some of those weapons being released, some of that ammunition, to replenish the stockpiles of Israel in the coming days and weeks. The U.S. Navy I will point out does not have a confirmed chief of naval operations because of the hold placed her by Tommy Tuberville, which Pentagon officials say continues to impact their operations.”

Indeed. Tuberville’s irresponsible and childish behavior is directly impeding America’s ability to aid Israel, or to advance many other military objectives on our nation’s agenda, such as stopping Russia’s terrorism in Ukraine. And the fight in the House over the Speakership is likewise preventing any appropriations of funds to help in Israel’s defense, or Ukraine’s as well. Not that the House GOP wants to pass more aid for Ukraine. They think the U.S. should focus only on our own borders. So will they take that same position with regard to aid for Israel? And if not, why not? (Hint: Hypocrisy).

The Republican consensus that America is “weak and incompetent” isn’t helping either. In fact, it is likely encouraging our enemies to be even more aggressively hostile and violent. Which may be the intent of the GOP. They often take positions that are contrary to the interests of the nation and the American people if they think that they can shift the blame to Biden and the Democrats. And if you think that it’s too cynical to imply such a repulsive motivation, here is what the Republican National Chair, Ronna McDaniel, told Fox News about the attack on Israel that has taken the lives of hundreds of innocent people…

“I think this is a great opportunity for our candidates to contrast where Republicans have stood with Israel time and time again, and Joe Biden has been weak.”

For someone in a position of authority to believe that a terrorist attack is “a great opportunity” is nauseating on its face. To hear them say it out loud on television is an order of magnitude worse. And to see it included in the talking points of their representatives and candidates makes it impossible to dismiss that it’s intentional and is the emerging theme of their 2024 campaign strategy: “Make America Hate Again!”

Fox News: Democrats Shouldn’t Allow Hillary Clinton to Talk About Deprogramming the MAGA Cult

Fox News must have been thrilled that their favorite political piñata, Hillary Clinton, surfaced in a new interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour. They have clearly missed taking wild, albeit feeble, swings at the woman who got three million more votes than their Dear Leader, Donald Trump, and who still manages to make their blood pressure surge whenever she invades their sheltered psyches.

Click here to Tweet this article

Fox News, Hillary Clinton

The interview was a wide ranging discussion of current affairs and the state of the political environment. Naturally, Clinton was asked about the Republican disarray in the House of Representatives where their fringiest faction ousted their own Speaker for failing to toe the wingnut line closely enough. Although Fox News thinks they may have found an alternative more to their liking.

SEE THIS: LOLOL: Fox News is Already Hyping Trump for Speaker of the House, and He is Open To It

In the course of the interview, Amanpour asked Clinton whether there was a way going forward wherein the parties could form coalitions to advance the people’s business. Clinton began her response by noting that the passage of the Continuing Resolution that temporarily avoided a government shutdown was evidence that there there is a “common sense, sane part of the Republican caucus in the House.” However, she also observed that they are often “intimidated” by the GOP extremists. She elaborated saying that…

“Sadly, so many of those extremists, those MAGA extremists take their marching orders from Donald Trump, who has no credibility left by any measure. He’s only in it for himself. He’s now defending himself in civil actions and criminal actions, and we need a break with him. Because at some point point maybe there needs to be a formal deprogramming of the cult members. But something needs to happen.”

UH-OH! That was all that was necessary to trigger the outrage of Fox News. On their Friday morning episode of “Outnumbered,” co-hosts Kayleigh McEnany and Tomi Lahren were shocked by Clinton’s perfectly rational analysis of the perversely devotional attachment to Trump. They latched unto Clinton’s accurate description of the MAGA movement as a cult and her tongue-in-cheek suggestion that they be “deprogrammed.”

McEnany: You expect to hear this in the Soviet Union and communist China, and third world countries, dictatorships. But not here in the United Sates.
Lahren: She’s still so bitter about 2016 and that’s landing. She is so upset, so jaded that she lost she just cannot accept it. […] What I don’t understand is why the Democrat Party is allowing her to speak on behalf of the Democrat Party. It does nothing for them.

First of all, someone needs to tell McEnany that the Soviet Union was dissolved 32 years ago. But more to the point, Lahren wants to know “why the Democrats would continue to parade [Clinton] out.” Lahren’s complaint that the Democratic Party is “allowing” Clinton to speak is an affirmation that the Trumpist Republicans are indeed a cult and that, in their tunnel-blind perception, all political parties are cults. They can’t comprehend that Clinton is free to speak about whatever she wants, any time she wants, without getting permission from GOP-style party apparatchiks. Republicans don’t tolerate that sort of independent thought.

What’s more, at no point in the interview did Clinton suggest that she was speaking for the Democratic Party. She was offering her own opinions. However, the lock-step agreement from the other panelists on the Fox News program is further proof of the cult-like state of the GOP as represented on their propaganda network. Which, ironically, underscores the kernel of truth in Clinton’s snarky statement that the Trump Deplorables need to be deprogrammed. They just keep confirming that they are cult. Especially when they try to deny it.

Fox News Hack Peter Doocy Out Doocys Himself With a Week of Pitifully Puerile Questions

The abundance of significantly newsworthy events this week has challenged the media to properly cover them all. They have had to make time for a historic ousting of the Republican House Speaker, Kevin McCarthy, the ongoing battle to fund the government and avoid a devastating shutdown, the trial of Donald Trump for financial fraud, the GOP’s collapsing Biden impeachment inquiry hearings, and much more.

Fox News, Peter Doocy

Naturally, the ego-tastic Trump has endeavored to make himself the center of attention regardless of what the topic of any news story might be. Not because he has anything useful to contribute, but in the service of his three obsessions: 1) His fears related to his numerous criminal cases. 2) His compulsion to fleece his flock for more funds. and 3) His desperate efforts to return to the White House so that he can exploit it to do more about #1 and #2.

RELATED: Trump is Big Mad at Fox News For Daring to Talk About Republican Candidates Not Named Trump

Meanwhile, Fox News White House correspondent, Peter Doocy, is striving to maintain his role as the leading “Stupid S.O.B.” (as President Biden so fittingly described him) in the White House briefing room. Rather than asking questions about any of the above matters that are actual news stories, Doocy has been demonstrating just how asinine a wannabe “reporter” can be if he puts his deficient mind to it. What follows are some of the questions that Doocy considered to be of critical importance to the American people this week.

October 2: “So did President Biden ever try to get out of a meeting by pulling a fire alarm?”
You have to wonder what Doocy thought the answer to this question might be, or how it would serve the public to hear it.

October 3: “If President Biden’s policies are helping bring crime down, would he be comfortable with somebody borrowing his Corvette and parking it on the street overnight in southeast D.C.?”
Right! Because where Biden parks his car, and how the local D.C. police department protects the citizens of the community is just what America wants to know more about.

October 4: “Is any part of the West Wing just loving the fact that Republicans don’t appear to be able to govern the one part of the government that they actually control.”
Apparently Doocy thinks that the administration sits around chuckling at the notion that the Republican-led House is too dysfunctional to pass any legislation that might help the nation, including the White House’s legislation.

October 4: “There are some new pictures of Commander Biden biting a staffer again. How many times has that dog bitten the Bidens?” […] “Isn’t the president worried about getting sued?”
Once again, Doocy is doggedly digging into the heart of matters that will determine the fate of America.

October 4: “Has anybody in the West Wing heard anybody talking about the possibility of Speaker Trump?”
Because Doocy (and the nation) needs to know if people in the White House are as obsessed with idiotic fantasies that will never happen as he and Fox News are.

Yes, as you can see in the videos, those are all real questions. That’s what the official White House correspondent at Fox News is asking daily in the White House briefing room. And the week is only half over. The answers supplied by Press Secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, demonstrate both her intelligence and patience. A less tolerant press secretary would have booted Doocy from the room, and from the White House press corps, a long time ago.

LOLOL: Fox News is Already Hyping Trump for Speaker of the House, and He is Open To It

The chaos emanating from the Republican Party as they endeavor to demolish the foundations of their own congressional caucus is nothing new. To the contrary, it is a familiar pattern of incompetence and a tunnel-blind fixation on hoarding power at the expense of advancing the interests of the American people.

Click here to Tweet this article

Donald Trump Fox News

Nothing better exemplifies that than the way they banished their Speaker, Kevin McCarthy, for the sin of making concessions to Democrats in order to prevent a devastating government shutdown that most Republicans seemed to have been hoping for. And now that McCarthy is gone, there are factions in the party that are anxious to oust Rep. Matt Gaetz, the guy who led the McCarthy coup.

SEE THIS: GOP-ers Ponder Expelling Matt Gaetz for Ethics Violations After His Failed Shutdown Scheme

No rational person thinks that this is the way that government should operate. But to the GOP, it’s the only way they know. So it should come as no surprise that some of them are plotting to make a bad situation monstrously worse.

Since there is no apparent heir to McCarthy’s throne, desperate members of the disgruntled GOP caucus are floating a name from outside the House: Donald J. Trump, the twice impeached former White House occupant who is currently awaiting trial on four criminal indictments consisting of 91 felony charges.

Trump’s name will likely be put into nomination by someone like Marjorie Taylor Greene or Troy Niels, who have both already expressed their support. However, advocates for a Trump speakership are also coming from his Ministry of Propaganda, Fox News. On Tuesday night during an interview of Jim Jordan on Fox News, Sean Hannity revealed that…

“Sources telling me at this hour that some House Republicans have been in contact with – have started an effort to draft former president Donald Trump to be the next speaker and I have been told that president Trump might be open to helping the Republican party at least in the short term if necessary.”

That’s right! It didn’t take Hannity – Fox’s Senior Trump-fluffer – but a few hours to promote his favorite soon-to-be felon to assume control of the People’s House. As if Trump would have the slightest idea what the job entails. And Jim Jordan was open to it too. Except for the minor problem that he announced Wednesday morning that he is running for the post himself.

Hannity said that he thinks that the “stable genius” Trump could be both president and speaker. That would be quite a feat. He would have to squeeze it in between his court hearings and potential periods of incarceration. But what Hannity and the GOP Trumpists appear to be ignorant of are their own rules that prohibit criminals like Trump from serving as speaker.

Rule 26(a) of the Republican House Conference Rules: “A member of the Republican Leadership shall step aside if indicted for a felony for which a sentence of two or more years imprisonment may be imposed.” [So you’re cool if you’re a Republican who has been indicted for a felony with only a one year sentence]

Trump himself is ignorant of this rule as well. On Wednesday morning he was asked by reporters if he would take the job of House Speaker. He replied that…

“A lot of people have been calling me about speaker … If I could help them during the process, then I’d do it.”

It’s hard to imagine Trump being helpful during this or any other process. He would be a worst case scenario for Republicans in the House or, for that matter, America. Trump knows even less about the administration of Congress than he does about the White House. And even after four years in office he has proven that he knows nothing about that. But then again, do Republicans have any better candidates? Do Jordan, or Gaetz, or Steve Scalise, or Elise Stefanik, or anyone else, stir their passions? Not so far.

If we’re lucky, Democratic Majority Leader Hakeem Jeffries will be elected Speaker. He would only need four or five Republicans to stay home in order to prevail. There are at least eighteen Republicans who are either fed up with their party or nervous about being reelected in Democratic districts. And Jeffries could offer them perks to encourage them to sit out the vote. Then he could maintain his position by proposing some form of power sharing. It’s a long shot, to be sure. But it’s way more likely than Trump – aka Cadet Bone Spurs – riding to the rescue.

Trump Says He Watches a Lot of Fox News, That He Also Says is ‘Totally Fake’ and ‘Unwatchable’

The convolutions of Donald Trump’s character are too numerous and perverse to succinctly summarize. Suffice to say that he is a twisted bundle of frayed nerves and psychoses. His contradictions and hypocrisies are legendary. And anyone who thinks that they can anticipate his behavior – other than as hostile and self-serving – is fooling themselves.

Donald Trump, Fox News, Fake

In a new interview conducted by Raheem Kassam of the ultra-rightist National Pulse, Trump put this personality disorder on display. It was 36 minutes of incoherent rambling and rehashing of the same delusional talking points that he has been dispensing for years.

The interview began with Kassam asking Trump about the state of immigration: “Did you ever think you’d see this level of American Carnage?” That was a throwback reference to Trump’s infamous “American Carnage” inauguration address. Trump’s reply was a typically tortured tirade that utterly avoided reality…

“No. Nobody has ever seen anything like this. […] Nobody has any idea where these people are coming from. We know they come from prisons. We know they come mental institutions, insane asylums. We know they’re terrorists. Nobody has ever seen anything like we’re witnessing right now. It is a very sad thing for our country. It’s poisoning the blood of our country. It’s so bad.”

So in a single reply Trump asserted that “Nobody has any idea where these people are coming from,” then proceeds to tell Kassam where they are coming from. And, of course, it was all completely false and profoundly racist. He went on to lie that there were zero terrorists intercepted by border patrol during his occupation of the White House. (Fact Check: 216 people on the terrorist watchlist were apprehended this year. There were 280 in 2019 during the Trump administration).

The interview briefly touched on Trump’s television habits. We know that he was an avid viewer of Fox News and other right-wing media while allegedly serving as president. He was reported to have watched as much as eight hours of television every day. Most of that was Fox News or some other Trump-fluffing outlet that catered to his massive yet fragile ego. And apparently nothing has changed, according to Trump in the following portion of the interview (see video below beginning at 4:20)

Kassam: You make a point about the press and the media. And I think that most of the media is quite hostile towards you. I think one that I think people are surprised that have been hostile towards you has been Fox. Especially recently…
Trump: We’ve done well with Fox over the years. […] But somehow there’s just an edge there. You take a look at the anchors, look at Sean Hannity, Laura’s been great. They’ve been good. But there’s an overhang if you just feel, there’s something missing.
Kassam: But do you think [Rupert Murdoch] is going, he kind of went all in against you in this primary cycle. And I think he’s realized now that he’s not gonna win that battle. Do you think that’s why he’s kind of shuffling…
Trump: Well they put everything against DeSanctimonious. And he’s not a talented person. He’s just not a talented person. He only won because I endorsed him. He was at 3%, he was dead, and I endorsed him. […]

[Note: It’s always been curious how Trump frequently brags about having endorsed people who he considers losers and liars and incompetents, and then takes credit for their political victories. Why the heck did he endorse them?]

Trump: The anchors are so good. Jesse [Watters] has been great. Greg [Gutfeld] has been great. You look at what he’s done, right? They’ve all been good. You look on Saturday, it’s been fantastic with Pete Hegseth, Rachel [Campos-Duffy], Will [Cain]. So we get a lot of good support. And lately Brian Kilmeade’s been great. But Steve Doocy’s been terrible. I mean, to me he’s been just terrible. He’s hurting the show. Ainsley [Earhardt] is good. […]
Kassam: You still watch it a lot then?
Trump: Yeah, I watch it. I watch it. I watch it, and I watch Newsmax. I try not to watch the other…There’s so much fake news. I mean honestly, somebody like MSNBC, it’s so bad and so vicious, and same thing with CNN, but maybe even to a lesser extent. But I watch these two and honestly, it’s a campaign contribution what they do. It’s a campaign contribution. And they should pay a lot of money. Somebody has to pay for this. Because that’s an absolute campaign contribution. And they can’t be allowed to be able to get away with this. It’s so unfair.

So Trump watches quite a bit of Fox News, despite the fact that he has recently maligned them saying that “Fox News is dead,”, and that “Fox News daytime is not watchable,” and that “Fox News Polls are totally FAKE.”

Trump’s idea of a free press is one that is consistently adoring of him, and anything less than worshipful devotion is tantamount to treason. He recently used that exact language to condemn the media saying that “They are almost all dishonest and corrupt [and] should be investigated for its ‘Country Threatening Treason.’” He elaborated threatening that “when I WIN the Presidency of the United States, they and others of the LameStream Media will be thoroughly scrutinized,” and that they should not “be entitled to use the very valuable Airwaves of the USA,” and that they “should pay a big price for what they have done.”

The rest of the interview was boilerplate, dishonest Trumpisms about abortion after birth, which is not a thing; the January 6th insurrection that he incited; his efforts to overturn the election with fake electors; the Mueller report and what he calls the Russia, Russia, Russia scam; and of course, his perpetual preposterous whining about Biden being incompetent and/or corrupt. In other words, it was Trump being Trump, and abandoning what the rest of us recognize as a little thing called reality.

Fox News Cuts Out Democrats in Their Coverage of the GOP’s Bogus Biden Impeachment Inquiry

In two days the Republican shutdown of the government will go into effect, barring any last minute agreement with the Democrats who are valiantly trying to prevent this economic calamity. But despite the nation being on the edge of a fiscal cliff that will cause serious harm to millions of Americans, Republicans are laser-focused on their baseless impeachment inquiry intended only to smear President Biden.

Fox News, Censorship

The GOP’s inquiry is typically devoid of substance or anything resembling evidence of wrongdoing by the President. That, however, is of no concern to Republicans whose their only interest is partisan political scandal mongering and personal defamation of their Democratic foes. They have even been saying so explicitly since they assumed their razor-thin majority in the House of Representatives…

The first inquiry hearing held by James Comer, chairman of the House Oversight Committee, further demonstrated how pitifully inept the Republicans are at manufacturing misdeeds. You might think that they would be better at it after all the practice they have had. But no.

Consequently, The Republican Ministry of Disinformation (aka Fox News) is having to cover for them again. During their live broadcast of the Committee’s proceedings, Fox News diligently aired the questions and commentary by Republican members of the Committee. But when it came time for a Democrat to speak, they quickly cut away to offer their biased analysis from the studio. Just as Democratic Rep. Stephen Lynch began to offer a counter argument to the GOP narrative, Fox News host Harris Faulkner interrupted up to say…

“So Republicans are laying out the reasons for this impeachment inquiry as they begin to put together the case made for impeaching in full President Joe Biden. And so this five minutes per lawmaker – there are 47 in the room – period is what they’re on now. After hearing from the witnesses, some of whom you might even recognize.

First of all, if Republicans are “laying out the reasons for this impeachment inquiry” they are doing an abysmal job of it. They have zero evidence to offer and disreputable witnesses to interview. But more to the point, her timing is impeccable as she interrupts the remarks of Rep. Lynch in order to interview ultra-rightist hack, Leo Terrell. This is an old tactic that Fox News also employed during hearings about Trump’s unsavory associations with Russia and his two impeachments. Every time it was a Democrat’s turn to speak, Fox cut away. They also did this to prevent a speech given by Hillary Clinton…

For the record, what Fox News cut off was Lynch’s grilling of GOP witness, Eileen O’Connor, a staunch Trump-fluffer whose rank partisanship is unparalleled. He noted that in her opening statement she referred to a commentary that she wrote entitled “You would go to prison for what Biden did.” However, she left out that the title and article actually said “what ‘Hunter’ Biden did.” She claimed it was an inadvertent omission, but would you believe a MAGA cultist?

In another part of the hearing, Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez asked frequent Fox News legal confabulator, Jonathan Turley, a simple question. “In your testimony today,” she began, “are you presenting any first-hand witness account of crimes committed by the president of the United States?” Turley replied “No, I’m not.” Rep. Ocasio-Cortez asked the same question of the other witnesses who likewise replied “No.” Which begs the question, “What are they even doing there?”

There were many moments when Republicans were humiliated by the lack of evidence or any plausible reason for the hearings. But one moment stood out as Rep. Greg Casar asked “Will members of the oversight committee raise their hands if you believe both Hunter and Trump should be held accountable for any of indictments if convicted?” Every Democrat raised their hand, but not a single Republican did. So apparently the GOP does not believe that the law should apply equally to anyone. Or perhaps that the law should be equally ignored for everyone. Bottom line: They have, in effect, admitted that their hearings are a partisan sham.
