Fox News, Peter Doocy, Karine Jean-Pierre

Fox’s White House correspondent, Peter Doocy, is the frontline propagator of their propaganda. He occupies a seat at the daily press briefings tasked by his bosses, the Murdochs, to manufacture phony controversies and try to embarrass the President and his spokespeople with “gotcha” questions. Unfortunately for Fox News, he has never been very good at it.

On Friday Doocy sought to waste the time of every in the room by asking Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre a question that reeked of bias and ignorance. Jean-Pierre replied with a remarkable degree of patience, considering the blitheringly idiotic inquisition by Doocy:

Doocy: Why is the president bragging today about gas prices?
Jean-Pierre: Because it’s gone down.

That’s right! The answer was as simple as that. But it was way above Doocy’s capacity to grasp it. Or perhaps just outside of his mandate as a disinformation disseminator. And yet, after being politely told why President Biden was happy about the trend in gas prices, Doocy felt compelled to resume his badgering:

Doocy: It’s still $1.72 higher than when he took office.
Jean-Pierre: It has come down in a way we haven’t seen, it’s trajectory coming down, in over a decade.
Doocy: It’s still over $4.00 a gallon though. Is that good?
Jean-Pierre: You want to talk to a nurse or a teacher or a firefighter, if having that little bit of breathing room doesn’t matter to them. […] That matters. And the reason we’re seeing that is because of the work this President has done the last several months.

For the record, gas prices have been falling for two months. In much of the country the average price is below $4.00 per gallon, a decline of 20%. Most consumers would regard that as positive news.

While oil is an international commodity that no president can control, Biden can take some of the credit for the savings due to his affirmative action. Early on he ordered the release of a million barrels of oil a day from the strategic reserve. He put pressure on oil companies and stations not to gouge consumers as oil prices were falling. He supported alternative energy and vehicles, which reduces demand while supplies were increasing, which drives down prices.

In the meantime, Fox News and the Republican Party they shill for, seem to be upset that the American people are saving money on gas. While they steadfastly blamed Biden as the prices rose, they are now criticizing him for the decline. And Doocy’s insinuation that people should still be mad because gas costs more than it did in 2020, ignores the reality of the marketplace. There’s a reason that Biden once referred to Doocy as a “stupid SOB.”

When Biden took office the nation was still suffering from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic at its peak, and people were not traveling very much or even commuting to work. That absence of demand is what brought gas prices down so artificially low. Since Biden’s inauguration the pandemic situation, and the economy, have improved considerably. Consequently, people are back to work, they’re taking trips, and they are considerably more confident that they can spend money – even with inflation – without risking their financial welfare.

All of that is positive news for the nation and the people. But leave it to Fox News to try to find some apocalyptic spin that they can use to foment fear and make people’s lives miserable. Because they want people to to be miserable in order to have something to bash Biden with. And stirring up political hostilities is much higher on their priority list than telling the truth. Especially if the truth might make people happier and look more favorably toward the President.

Fox News Hack Tucker Carlson Lamely Tries to Insult Jon Stewart, Gets Another Brutal Beat Down

Some people just don’t know when to leave bad enough alone. And at the top of the list of those pitifully oblivious meatheads is the Fox News Senior Schmuck and Fascist Asslicker, Tucker Carlson. For someone who has been savagely steamrolled so often in the past, you might think that Carlson had learned something. You would be wrong.

On Thursday night’s episode of Carlson’s White Nationalist Hour on Fox News, he felt compelled to malign America’s most beloved humorist, Jon Stewart. The impetus for this attack was that Stewart had the gall to speak out on behalf of American soldiers who were poisoned while serving, but for whom the country was not providing necessary healthcare. Stewart’s efforts contributed to the bipartisan passage of the PACT Act (despite eleven Republicans voting against it) that will finally deliver the care that they need.

So what on Earth could have triggered Tucker into such a tempestuous tantrum? Well, apparently it has something to do with his looks, particularly his height. Carlson lashed out maniacally at Stewart accusing him of…

“…looking like a guy who lives in the men’s room at your public library, eating imaginary insects out of the air. And he was there to get, for some reason, into a shouting match with the senior editor of Human Events called Jack Posobiec. […] He looks demented.”

This raises the question of how Carlson is so familiar with denizens of men’s rooms at libraries. More to the point, Carlson completely misunderstood the reason Stewart was there. It wasn’t to argue with Posobiec, a notorious racist and conspiracy theorist. It was to help the heroes that Fox News pretends to support. But Carlson was just getting started. After playing a brief, and purposely edited video clip intended to make Stewart look bad, Carlson went on to rant…

“That’s Jon Stewart? The famous Jon Stewart? He looks like a homeless mental patient. He’s shrieking and disheveled. And very short. Really short. Too short to date. Was he always that short? What happened? Where’s he been the last 7 years? If you know, let us know. We want answers.”

Yes, Tuckums. That’s the famous Jon Stewart, passionately standing up for sick veterans, which is more than you’ve ever done for anyone else. And while Stewart may be only 5’7″, if he 6’7″ he still wouldn’t date you. So take a cold shower in a library men’s room and get over it. Or go try to get a date with the “sexy” cartoon M&Ms that make you so hot.

It’s interesting that Stewart works so hard on behalf of others, but Carlson can only find fault with his height. Carlson’s hatred of short people says much more about himself than it does of Stewart. However, Stewart had a prompt and appropriate response…

“Friends. Tonite I am sad. @TuckerCarlson believes me too short to date…and yet somehow, miraculously, I remain tall enough to not know what Victor Orban’s ass tastes like! Is it goulash Tucky? Seems like it would be goulash.”

OUCH! Did Carlson really think he could beat Stewart in a battle of the burns? Stewart’s retort was both funny and topical. Hungarian dictator Orbán just spoke at the ultra-rightist CPAC conference where the conservative crowd cheered his racist and authoritarian views. Carlson is a huge fan of Orbán, having traveled to Hungary in order to do a slobberingly softball interview late last year.

What’s more, Carlson’s infatuation with Orbán is reciprocal. Orbán recently praised Carlson saying that “programs like his should be broadcasted day and night. Or as you say 24/7.'” He better be careful or Vladimir Putin, who Carlson is also enamored of, will get jealous.

This, of course, isn’t the first battering that Carlson has had by Stewart. In 2005 Stewart appeared on CNN’s Crossfire which was co-hosted by Paul Begala and Carlson. In that encounter Stewart told Carlson that he was “not going to be your monkey,” and that he is “as big a dick on [Crossfire] as you are on any show.” A few weeks later Crossfire was canceled and Carlson was fired. It’s clear that Carlson has never gotten over it. Watch the classic exchange below.

Republicans Get Pissy When Buttigieg Praises Biden Bill that Makes EVs More Affordable

The Republican Party seems to be committed to establishing itself as an anti-American confederacy that is focused only on acquiring and maintaining money and power. They demonstrate on a daily basis that their only loyalty is to the twice-impeached, former reality TV game show host, and aspiring authoritarian dictator, Donald Trump.

The GOP (Greedy One Percent) appears to have little interest in advancing any affirmative policies. They have no principles, no ideas, and no purpose other than to obstruct Democrats from implementing the overwhelmingly popular programs addressing reproductive choice, gun safety, climate change, voting rights, tax fairness, healthcare, and more. The record of the past two years validates the success of the Democrats’ efforts. The GOP, by contrast, are dismissing this at their own political peril.

Nevertheless, Republicans remain staunchly devoted to their current perverse agenda of preventing any positive progress on behalf of the American people. They illustrated this again after Secretary of Transportation, Pete Buttigieg, appeared on MSNBC to tout the benefits of the “Inflation Reduction Act” offered by President Biden and the Democrats. Buttigieg made several points about the bill’s provisions, which predictably sent the Republican National Committee (RNC) into a tizzy on Twitter:

RNC: Biden Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg defends the green energy handouts — a $7,500 giveaway to wealthy Americans for electric vehicles, which have an average cost of $67K — in the Bidenflation Scam.
Buttigieg: I’m excited about the electric vehicle provisions because what this will do is reduce the price, through tax credits, of an electric vehicle. And if you see that lower sticker price and can afford an EV, you’re also gonna be saving money every day that you own it.

It’s curious that the RNC is so outraged by a $7,500 tax credit that will enable Americans to purchase a clean energy car and save money on fuel, but they aren’t the least bit bothered by billions of dollars going to oil companies who will use it to further pollute the planet.

The RNC also dishonestly tries to mislead by citing the average cost of an electric vehicle. Nobody buys a car based on what the average price is of all makes and models. The presence of BMWs and Mercedes and Audis would make the averages for all sedans also look unattainably high. The truth is that many EVs are available for less than $35,000. And the RNC knows that. However, they went on to disinform with a bit of sarcasm, saying…

RNC: Biden Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg: Electric vehicles are the “best” solution for Americans facing sky-high gas prices
Buttigieg: The best thing we can do for the medium and long term is make sure Americans have more options through greater fuel efficiency, and greater access to vehicles that don’t require gasoline at all. So that Americans don’t have to worry about what’s happening in some Middle Eastern capitol or foreign war zone.

Of course, Buttigieg is right. There is no better option, for the environment as well as people’s pocketbooks, than moving toward a cleaner future in transportation. But the RNC just lamely mocks that notion without putting forward any other proposal that they think would be better.

This is typical of today’s Trumpified Republican Party. The only things they offer are hurdles to block progress and hostility toward those who actually want to make life better for the American people. And their lame attempts to distort reality are easily rebutted, as Buttigieg has proven before…

Trump-Endorsed (?) Rep Eric Swalwell Says ‘This is Gonna Be a Wave Election Alright…A BLUE One!’

Tuesday’s primaries produced a mixed bag of results for both Democrats and Republicans. Some of Trump’s endorsed candidates succeeded in winning predictably Republican contests. But the headline victory went to the voters in Kansas who preserved the state constitution’s protection of privacy and the rights of access to abortion.

Blue Wave

Despite the variances in the election results, Donald Trump demonstrated his dishonesty, willful ignorance, and political tunnel blindness, by asserting that the night was a total victory for him and MAGA. “Ran the Entire Board,” he posted on his miserably failing social media scam, TRUTH Social.

That, of course, was a flagrant lie. In fact, two of the GOP representatives that Trump worked hardest to defeat – Jaime Herrera Beutler and Don Newhouse who both voted for his impeachment – won their primaries in Washington. And a third – Peter Meijer – lost by a hair to a Trump cultist who will almost certainly lose to his Democratic opponent in November in this newly blue Michigan district.

Given the overall results of these primaries, the political forecast for Democrats has greatly improved. And that did not go unnoticed by Rep. Eric Swalwell of California. Swalwell might have been endorsed by Trump when he posted a couple of days ago that a surname-less “ERIC has my Complete and Total Endorsement!” Following the reports of Tuesday’s primary results, Swalwell confidently tweeted that, “This is gonna be a wave election alright…a BLUE one!” And he retweeted a recent poll to back up his certainty:

This poll is a significant improvement over the one taken just a month ago that had the GOP ahead 48 to 46. And it isn’t hard to understand why the landscape changed so drastically. With the ultra-rightist Supreme Court delivering rulings that overturned Roe vs Wade, weakened voting rights, and permitted more widespread access to guns, the American people have been given some strong incentives to ditch Republicans at every level of government.

However, there are also positive incentives for voting Democratic. Despite a razor thin margin in Congress, President Biden and the Democrats have delivered a big basket of bills that are overwhelmingly popular. They include legislation on infrastructure, the American Rescue Plan, gun safety, semiconductor chip manufacturing, climate change, and veteran’s healthcare.

Along with those legislative achievements, the Biden administration also presided over the creation of nine million jobs, lowering unemployment to 3.6%, ending a 20 year war in Afghanistan, and more recently, terminating Al Qaeda leader, Ayman al-Zawahiri. These accomplishments are starting to be recognized by voters across the country and the political divide, despite efforts by Fox News News and other right-wing media to suppress them.

Democrats will need to overcome the historical tendency of the party in power losing control of Congress in the first midterm election. But there are definitely signs that that trend may be averted this year. However, it won’t happen without voters staying engaged and motivated to give their all to electing Democrats. And Republicans will surely be plotting more malicious means of stealing the election.

So while the future looks bright, it is our patriotic duty to keep the sun shining. And all indications point to the likelihood that, if we stay vigilant and committed, we will succeed in producing a massive blue wave in November.

Joe Manchin Calls Out Fox News Host for Lying About Biden Raising Taxes on the Middle Class

Fox News Lies

While the concerns of mainstream Democrats is understandable, some of the attacks on Manchin have been shortsighted. After all if he were not a Democrat, then Mitch McConnell would be majority leader and every Senate committee would be chaired by a Republican member of the Trump cult. And it would be difficult to elect any other Democratic senator from the blood-red state of West Virginia.

On Tuesday morning Manchin was interviewed by Harris Faulkner on Fox News (video below). And he illustrated just why Democrats are fortunate to have him on their side, despite the intra-party troubles he causes. Those troubles should not be downplayed. They are serious. But he is still better than the alternative, which would be more of the GOP (Greedy One Percent).

Faulkner sought to open a discussion on whether the “Inflation Reduction Act” proposed by President Biden and the Democrats raises taxes on middle class Americans. She played a video clip of Fox’s Peter Doocy asking White house Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre about the Joint Committee on Taxation saying that it does raise such taxes. Manchin shot that down by revealing a fact that Fox News hoped to suppress…

Faulkner: We gotta know the bottom line on taxes.
Manchin: Let me tell you the bottom line on that Harris. You want to know the bottom line – the Joint Committee on Taxation? That opinion was only written by my friends on the Republican side. It was not done by the whole Joint Committee. So that is unfair.

The interview went south for Fox News from there…

Manchin: Let’s be accurate what we’re doing here. The bottom line is how in the world can you be raising taxes when all we’re saying is the wealthiest corporations in America – 55 of them pay zero to help this great country of ours.
Faulkner: So how does this change that.
Manchin: It’s a minimum 15%. The tax rate was at 35% before 2017. Then it went to 21%. That was a tremendous savings. But that’s not good enough, I guess. All We’re saying is a 15% minimum. Everyone I know in West Virginia, and most people around the country, is paying a 21% corporate or greater. So why can’t the greatest billion dollars of revenue a year, why can’t they pay at least 15% for this great country? […]
Faulkner: But $400,000 was supposed to be the cut off. But I’m reading – and I am reading Senator – that it’s below that now.
Manchin: Who is paying any taxes that doesn’t have a corporation that has revenue of over a billion dollars a year? Not one person.

Faulkner nevertheless persisted with her wholly dishonest line of questioning…

Faulkner: I’m saying that Americans, $400,000 and below are now going to be taxed. Their taxes are gonna go up.
Manchin: That’s a lie. A pure outright lie.
Faulkner: So their taxes are not gonna go up.
Manchin: Not at all. And you know one thing? How about the people that are gonna be saving on their Medicare who are paying $288 billion higher prices than they should? They didn’t even assume that in the evaluation.

After being called a liar to her face, Faulkner still badgered Manchin with charges by McConnell and other Republicans that taxes would go up. Manchin hurled back that they were “totally absolutely wrong.” He told Faulkner that the questions she was asking, and the facts she has, are “completely wrong.” Then he refused to participate in her efforts to turn the debate on the bill into a political brawl saying that “This is not a political piece of legislation. This is an American legislation.”

Then Manchin pointedly asked Faulkner if she was “scared that we’re going to do something good that will help our country?” Which she took personally and got all huffy, yammering about the bible and her father who served. But Manchin’s remark was spot on, as Republicans – and their Fox News mouthpieces – are indeed afraid of anything passing that helps the nation because they would rather that people suffer than risk letting Biden and the Democrats get credit for achieving positive goals. Manchin closed the interview saying that…

“This is not about whether you like the President or whether you like Democrats. Do you like America? Do you want us to succeed as a country? Do you want to fight inflation? This bill does it.”

This interview shows how desperately Fox News wants to keep anything that benefits the American people from coming to pass. And they will load up their questions with lies and frantically seek to divert in order to halt progress or help people. They will also viciously flip on Manchin, their favorite Democrat, who yesterday they considered a brilliant, nonpartisan representative of the people.

Lauren Boebert Tells Newsmax that They Eat Dogs In Venezuela Because They Don’t Have Guns

Lauren Boebert

It would explain so much. It would explain how every Republican can get away with voting against the gouging of gas prices. It would explain how the GOP can vote against healthcare for veterans poisoned in the line line duty. It might even explain how a former reality TV game show host, who believes that windmills cause cancer and bleach injections cure COVID, came to occupy the White House, and still has supporters after being impeached twice and trying to overthrow the government.

The Republican Party is really giving Saturday Night Live some serious competition. And there could be no better example of that then what Rep. Lauren Boebert (CO-QAnon) said during an interview with former Trump flunky Sebastian Gorka on Newsmax Sunday night:

“If the citizenry of America is disarmed, then we are no longer citizens. We are subjects. You know, here in America we have gourmet treats for puppies. We have these amazing groomers for dogs. Well in Venezuela they eat the dogs. And it started because they don’t have firearms. They do not have a way to protect themselves, to defend themselves against a tyrannical government.

Indeed. American citizenry is defined by each individual’s personal arsenal. And American democracy is admired around the world because it provides “gourmet treats for puppies,” just like it says in the Constitution. Never mind that Boebert is imagining a scenario wherein all Americans are disarmed., something no Democrat has ever suggested. Although, perhaps we shouldn’t dwell on Boebert’s affinity for “amazing groomers.”

The key point that this GOP member of Congress was intent on making was that America’s lax gun policies have kept the nation from consuming it’s canine friends. Having the freedom to own all manner of weaponry, even military assault rifles, is what separates us from the heathens in Venezuela.

Boebert doesn’t mince her words. She flatly states that the reason Venezuelans eat dogs is because “they don’t have firearms.” That’s true. After all, if the dogs had firearms they would mow us down in the street if we tried to approach them with steak knives and BBQ sauce.

It’s difficult to grasp how Boebert got from gun regulation to doggie dinners. But that’s because we don’t have the kind of twisted sense of humor that she does. It’s because we don’t ignore facts, such as that much of the Venezuelan population is so poor that often dogs are the only source of food available.

Boebert’s stab at comedy comes at time when actual comedians are taking more serious positions on matter of critical importance to the nation. Jon Stewart has been lobbying Congress to pass the veteran’s healthcare legislation that the Republicans have been voting against. And Stephan Colbert sent Triumph, the insult comic dog, a rubber puppet, to Capitol Hill to confront members about the January 6th insurrection that was incited by Donald Trump.

Triumph is lucky that the hungry Democrats in the House of Representatives didn’t tie him to a spit with an apple in his mouth. “Joe Biden’s second bout of Covid, sometimes referred to as the China Virus, was sadly misdiagnosed by his doctors. He instead has Dementia, but is happily recovering well. Joe is thinking moving, part time, to one of those beautiful Wisconsin nursing homes, where almost 100% of the resident miraculously, and for the first time in history, had the strength and energy to vote – even if those votes were cast illegally. After several years of being subjected to Trump’s infantile antics, it is still shocking to see him act out this way. And it’s even worse to know that there are still people stupid enough to support him. Trump’s comment is typical of his inbred immaturity. He has truly captured the Beavis and/or Butthead character that he’s obviously aiming for.

Let’s begin with Trump’s wretchedly insensitive response to someone – in this case the President of the United States – disclosing that he is ill. Imagine Trump’s response if anyone reacted to him getting sick again with what is sometimes referred to as the “Trump Virus.” But that wasn’t offensive enough for Trump. He needed to go further by offering his imbecilic prognosis that Biden is actually suffering from dementia. That’s pure projection on Trump’s part. And it is contrary to what the American people think.

Biden always demonstrates intelligence, compassion, and an ability to comprehend complex issues. Trump, on the other hand, thinks windmills cause cancer, hurricanes should be nuked, stealth fighters are really invisible, injecting bleach cures COVID, and that he won the 2020 presidential election that he lost by seven million votes. And, oh yeah, Biden never tried to overthrow the government. And Trump thinks that Biden is the one who is cognitively impaired?

Trump was still not satisfied with his foul fulminating. He felt compelled to let loose more of his election fraud lies. Trump’s claims regarding Wisconsin nursing homes are flagrantly false. They are the product of dishonest propagators of Trump’s “Big Lie” and have been debunked repeatedly. Trump and his seditionist accomplices have never been able to provide a shred of evidence of any “illegal” votes.

It is a sad spectacle to see a former occupant of the White House lying so brazenly and flinging insults at someone with a potentially serious illness. But it is what we all have come to expect from Donald Trump, whose stunted emotional state is stuck permanently in unmannered toddler mode. America will be, in Trump’s words, “great again” when Trump is no longer paid any attention. And after seeing in his latest comments the sickening depths to which he will sink, that day cannot come soon enough.

Trump Proves His Idiocy (Again): He Thinks Verizon Dropping One America News (OAN) is Illegal

The depth of Donald Trump’s ignorance is impossible to measure. He is the Mariana Trench of stupidity. And yet, he seems perpetually compelled to show off how pitifully feeble-minded he is at every opportunity. He appears to have a perverse pride in being an utter imbecile. Perhaps it makes him feel closer to his dimwitted cult followers.

On Sunday morning Trump posted a comment on his miserably failing social media website, TRUTH Social (that is currently being criminally investigated by a Grand Jury), yowling about the decision by Verizon to drop One America News (OAN), his favorite, ultra-rightist disinformation channel. That decision may be the death knell for OAN who have now lost all but one of their cable outlets.

Naturally, Trump was shocked and outraged that a private company made a rational business decision that conflicted with Trump’s inbred biases and petulant self interests. Especially OAN, that has served as his virtual North Korean style Ministry of Propaganda from its inception. So he raged on his Twitter ripoff site that…

“One America News (OAN) is AMAZING, with great ratings and a REALLY loyal following. Despite it being so good, VERIZON, for purely political reasons, will be terminating OAN at the end of this month. Isn’t this ‘stuff’ supposed to be illegal? The good news is that the owners and management of One America News is smart and very wise. They will figure it out!”

What’s “AMAZING” is how ridiculously foolish Trump can be, and how proud he seems to be of it. Trump’s assertion that OAN has “great ratings” is laughably untrue. Their audience is so small that Nielsen doesn’t even track it. So you have to wonder what “ratings” Trump is referring to. Although Trump may be right about OAN having a loyal following, because that’s what cults do.

Trump goes on to accuse Verizon of ditching OAN for “purely political reasons.” Of course, he doesn’t offer a shred evidence to support that charge. However there is an obvious financial justification for dropping a channel that has a negligible number of viewers. What’s more, OAN is being sued for defamation by the voting software company, Smartmatic. The case revolves around the part OAN has played in promulgating Trump’s “Big Lie” about election fraud. Cable programmers would be wise to distance themselves from such potentially damaging legal exposure.

Finally, Trump asks his TRUTH(less) (Anti)Social followers “Isn’t this ‘stuff’ supposed to be illegal?” Sure, if you live in a totalitarian dictatorship where the media is required to obey the mandates of power mad demagogues. But in a nation where a free press is protected by its Constitution, private companies are permitted to make their own business decisions in the best interest of their shareholders, employees, and customers. In the United States it would, in fact, be illegal for the government to interfere with such decisions.

Trump, however, has always leaned toward tyranny. He prefers a country wherein he is the fuehrer making decisions that only benefit him. He had the same autocratic reaction to OAN being dropped by DirecTV earlier this year. And he couldn’t stop whining about it for months. So strap in. We can expect the same sort of obsessive ravings over the Verizon decision going forward.

Trump Attorney Announces Laughable Lawsuit Against CNN for Accurately Calling Trump a Liar

Donald Trump is nothing if not predictable. Whenever he encounters bad news he responds reflexively by going on the attack. Often that manifests in his declaring an intention to file a lawsuit against those he deems to have offended him. For the most part, his antics fail to achieve anything except to waste the time of the court and/or to humiliate himself.

With the profoundly effective investigation of the January 6th insurrection being conducted by the House Select Committee, Trump is at it again. The Committee is masterfully presenting evidence of the multitude of crimes that Trump has committed. So in a transparent attempt to deflect attention from his legal peril, he is flinging ludicrous threats of lawsuits around that have no plausible chance of success.

Lindsey Halligan, one of a string of Trump’s incompetent attorneys, appeared this week on recently convicted Steve Bannon’s ‘War Room’ podcast to announce a threat to sue CNN. The complaint is typically preposterous and offers more opportunity for comedy than for anything of any legal importance. Halligan told Bannon that…

“CNN branded president Trump as a liar and referred to his questions regarding voter fraud as the ‘Big Lie,’ which is actually linked to Adolph Hitler. So it’s pretty simple. If you’re going to call someone a liar, back it up with research, well founded facts. Otherwise, don’t report it. Don’t distort the truth. […] CNN responded to our letter today, advising us that they will not retract any of the statements. So they will be getting served with a lawsuit very shortly, I believe.”

This lawsuit could be the hottest streaming entertainment of the season. If Trump hopes to make the case that CNN defamed him by calling him a liar, he’s going to have to produce evidence that CNN’s reporting is false. That’s going to be be a tough sell considering that Trump has been documented to have told more than 30,000 lies during occupancy of the White House.

Specifically with regard to the “Big Lie” that the 2020 presidential election was “rigged” and “stolen” from him, Trump will need to contradict all of his own White House aides who advised him that there was no significant voter fraud. They include his FBI director, Chris Wray, his DHS chief of cybersecurity, Chris Krebs, and his Attorney General, Bill Barr, who called such claims “bullshit.”

Consequently, CNN will have little trouble affirming the accuracy of their reporting. What’s more, through the process of discovery, they can force Trump to provide further proof that he was repeatedly warned that his election fraud allegations were totally bogus. Which will result in this lawsuit suffering the same fate that his prior legal stunts did. For instance…

Trump’s latest legal threat, like those that preceded it, is drawn from the same pool of ignorance that Trump has always wallowed in. It is just another attempt to create a distraction, to abuse the justice system, and to drain donations from his glassy-eyed cult followers. Which, in the big scheme of things, is really all he cares about.

Tucker Carlson is Making Profane, Homophobic Jokes About People Suffering from Monkeypox

The Republican Party has never been known for its empathy and concern for the welfare of human beings. Their entire political philosophy is aimed at causing the most harm possible for the people already struggling with hardship. Whether it be financial, health, bigotry, criminal justice, etc., the GOP is against people in need, while they eagerly advance the interests of corporations and the wealthy.

Fox News, Tucker Carlson, STFU

Consequently, it should come as no surprise that the most pompous of asses on Fox News, Tucker Carlson, is exhibiting just how careless he can be about others, particularly those for whom he has long had a seething hatred.

On his Thursday night program, Carlson sought to stir up his sadism and prejudice into something that he thought would be fun. So he presented his audience of deplorables with a Twitter poll to rename the Monkeypox. Because what could be funnier than some jokey names for a disease that is contagious and painful?

Carlson’s poll included the following suggestions for a new name: Hunter Hives; Midterm Variant; Adam Schiffilis; and Sclong Covid. Note that three of the choice were overtly political, albeit typically infantile in nature. The fourth was profane and purposefully derogatory toward gay men who are among the sufferers. And of course, it was the fourth that won.

When the poll was completed, Carlson went on the air to gleefully announce the results. He began by saying that he thought that “Monkeypox” was the coolest name ever. You have to wonder whether he thinks it’s even cooler than “Mad Cow Disease,” or “Cat Scratch Fever.” He probably thinks that “Pancreatic Cancer” is hysterical.

Then Carlson went on to order his braindead viewers to call the director of the CDC to waste the time of the agency’s staff with their childish antics. Carlson closed by taking a shot at Rep. Eric Swalwell with an especially stupid Photoshop prank that had absolutely nothing to do with the rest of the segment. It was just Tucker being his asinine self.

It doesn’t matter how often you see these cretins on Fox News acting like idiots, it still boggles the mind how they could get on the air, and how anyone could watch them for more than a few seconds. But it is particularly galling when their attempts at humor are so laden with hostility and insensitivity toward the suffering of others. And their animus is always built around a political goal. For instance, Carlson recently commented on gas prices, noting that low prices in the U.S. are more important than the lives of Ukrainians.

However, it does explain how Carlson, and the rest of the Fox News hacks, can lie so flagrantly about deadly diseases like COVID, when they know that their lies contribute to so much more suffering and death. It appears to be what they are aiming for.
