Newt Gingrich on Fox News: Vote For Herschel Walker, a Christian Zealot Who’s Had Many Concussions

With five weeks left until the 2022 midterm election, Republicans are turning up the heat on their repugnant campaign rhetoric. They know they are burdened with a roster of embarrassing candidates who represent the fringiest wing of the Trump GOP. And yet, they are standing behind them because they have a complete dearth of principles in their quest for power.

Newt Gingrich, Donald Trump

Topping the list of wingnuts is the GOP’s candidate for Senate in Georgia, Herschel Walker. From the start of his campaign he has proved to be utterly incapable of articulating a coherent policy. Even worse, he has been brazenly dishonest about his past. He’s lied about his education, his work with law enforcement, and his family. The only thing he’s gotten right is that he used to play football. Which is not a relevant skill in preparation for a seat in the Senate.

Walker’s response to the many scandals that have erupted in his campaign usually hinges on his devotion to his faith. It’s an argument that he somehow thinks absolves him of any responsibility for his adultery, his threatening to kill his wife and kids, his absentee fatherhood of four children with four different women, and his shameless lying about all of that and more.

On Tuesday’s episode of Sean Hannity’s program on Fox News, Newt Gingrich was invited to make excuses for Walker’s wrongdoings. And it was just the sort of spectacular mess that Gingrich is known for.

RELATED: Newt Gingrich Visits Fox News to Peddle the Overtly Racist ‘White Replacement Theory’

Gingrich told Hannity that…

“I’ve known Herschel a good while. I have known Herschel well. I think he’s a remarkable person. I think he’s the most important Senate candidate in the country because he will do more to change the Senate just by the sheer presence, by his confidence, by his deep commitment to Christ. You know he’s been through a long tough period. He had a lot of concussions coming out of football. He suffered PTSD.”.

Really? That’s rather bizarre endorsement. Gingrich is beseeching Fox News viewers to vote for Walker because he’s allegedly a devout Christian who has suffered numerous brain injuries. The latter may actually explain how Walker can claim to be so pious despite having a past filled with unrepentant sin.

What’s more, if it’s faith in Christ that Fox News viewers are looking for, Walker’s Democratic opponent, Raphael Warnock, is actually a Christian pastor. Although, unlike Walker, he doesn’t wear his faith as a shield for wrongdoing. Nor does he impose it on anyone else. Nor does he exploit it in political ads like Walker is doing…

Walker does, however, meet the criteria for Republican politicians in the era of Donald Trump. Both have abused women. Both have embellished their resumes. Both exploit religion for votes. Both have obvious mental deficiencies. And both have no problem lying about everything.

No wonder Gingrich considers Walker and Trump to be the most important candidates in the country. And he will likely get some agreement from the Fox News audience he’s preaching to. But hopefully the broader American electorate will see though this nonsense and elect people whose qualifications aren’t limited to Christ and concussions. The last thing American needs is a pseudo-messiah leading a deranged cult.

After Goofy Lawsuit Against CNN, Trump Threatens More Suits, Including the January 6th Committee

The pathologically litigious former reality TV game show host, Donald Trump, has revealed his latest legal lunacy. In a typically amateurish 28 page filing, Trump announced that he is suing CNN, claiming defamation and seeking punitive damages of $475 million.

Click here to Tweet this article

Donald Trump, CNN

That’s right. Trump is suing the network that he has defamed hundreds of times as “fake” and “the enemy of the people” for defamation. His new complaint comes less than a month after another lawsuit against Hillary Clinton, and nearly fifty other people who the suit describes as “her cohorts,” was laughed out of court. The judge ruled that Trump was just “seeking to flaunt a two-hundred-page political manifesto outlining his grievances against those that have opposed him.”

RELATED: Trump’s Loopy Lawsuit Against Hillary Clinton and ‘Her Cohorts’ Reads Like Sleazy Pulp Fiction

Trump’s filing begins with a paragraph that is wholly saturated with political, rather than legal, arguments. He starts off saying that “The Plaintiff, President Donald J. Trump, has been a long-time critic of the Defendant, Cable News Network, Inc. (“CNN”)” So what? What does that have to do with any rational assertion of defamation? He continued…

“The Plaintiff, President Donald J. Trump, has been a long-time critic of the Defendant, Cable News Network, Inc. (“CNN”) — not because CNN does a bad job of reporting the news, but because CNN seeks to create the news (“fake news,” as the Plaintiff has characterized it in public statements). Beyond simply highlighting any negative information about the Plaintiff and ignoring all positive information about him, CNN has sought to use its massive influence— purportedly as a ‘trusted’ news source—to defame the Plaintiff in the minds of its viewers and readers for the purpose of defeating him politically. […]

“CNN has tried to taint the Plaintiff with a series of ever-more scandalous, false, and defamatory labels of ‘racist,’ ‘Russian lackey,’ ‘insurrectionist,’ and ultimately ‘Hitler.’”

First of all, Trump’s description of CNN as having “massive influence” is a contradiction of his repeated insults over the years calling CNN a failing news enterprise with terrible ratings that nobody watches.

More to the point, the crux of Trump’s complaint is that CNN’s use of labels describing him as a “racist,” “Russian lackey,” “insurrectionist,” and comparable to Hitler are defamatory. Apparently his lawyers have not advised him that the truth is a solid defense against allegations of defamation. And there is abundant evidence that CNN’s labels are accurate. It should be interesting to see the court proceedings as that evidence is presented.

Trump’s announcement of this lawsuit was made on his floundering social media scam, Truth Social. In his tedious and infantile fashion, Trump whined that…

“A lawsuit was filed today against CNN, the once prestigious news channel that has devolved into a purveyor of disinformation, defamation, and Fake News, at a level which the American Public, and indeed the World, will not even believe is possible.” […]

“In the coming weeks and months we will also be filing lawsuits against a large number of other Fake News Media Companies for their lies, defamation, and wrongdoing, including as it pertains to ‘The Big Lie,’ that they used so often in reference to their disinformation attack on Presidential Election of 2020.”

Trump didn’t bother to identify any of the other media companies that he is threatening to sue. But Trump’s animosity toward the press will surely provide him with a long list of what he regards as offending enterprises. We can assume that it won’t include Fox News, which has been documented to have disseminated more lies, disinformation, and propaganda than any other “news” organization. If Trump’s suit against CNN were successful, Fox News better look out. Then he continued…

Likewise, we may bring appropriate action against the Unselect Committee of January 6th because, notwithstanding overwhelming evidence, they REFUSED to investigate the massive Presidential Election Fraud which took place, but only investigate and harass the people and Patriots who complained and asked questions about it. The rigging and stealing of our Presidential Election was perhaps The Crime Of The Century, and look at what is happening to our Country now!”

So Trump thinks he can sue Congress because it isn’t investigating the people he wants them to investigate. Never mind that there isn’t a shred of evidence to support any of his allegations that there was any “rigging and stealing of our Presidential Election.” But he still wasn’t finished…

“The Unselect Committee has refused to acknowledge, as was done by the Biden Inspector General at the Department of Defense, and others, that days ahead of January 6th, I recommended and authorized thousands of troops to be deployed to ensure that there was peace, safety, and security at the Capitol and throughout the Country. That offer of the national guard was rejected by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, and Mayor Bowser of Washington, D.C. – The law requires their request, they failed to make one, and in turn failed the country.

This charge that Speaker Pelosi was responsible for the January 6th insurrection has been debunked repeatedly. PolitiFact’s detailed analysis documented that there is no record of Trump authorizing 20,000 National Guard troops, no evidence that Pelosi denied such an authorization, and that she doesn’t have the authority to do so in the first place.

It’s also curious that Trump’s bogus complaint is essentially that Pelosi didn’t sufficiently protect the Capitol from his violent supporters. He’s admitting that he knew his cult followers posed a risk significant enough to require thousands of National Guard troops to suppress.

Trump’s filling also contains this morsel: “CNN has been given the dreaded ‘Pants on Fire!’ designation by PolitiFact for its stories comparing Trump to Hitler.” He’s referring to segment wherein a guest on CNN said that Trump “may be responsible for many more million deaths” than Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, and Mao Zedong.”

Setting aside the fact that this was a position taken by a guest and not CNN, Trump should be careful about citing the “Pants on Fire” designations by PolitiFact. For the record, he has 116 of them. Overall, his statements reviewed by PolitiFact include 83% that are “Half True, Mostly False, False,” or “Pants on Fire.” Only 14% were rated “Mostly True” or “True.” That’s not exactly something to brag about.

Supreme Court Rejects MyPillow Huckster Mike Lindell’s Motion to Dismiss Defamation Lawsuit

The apostles of Donald Trump and his “Big Lie” that the 2020 presidential election was “rigged and stolen” from him are continuing to fail in their relentless and preposterous campaign to undermine democracy on behalf of Dear Leader Trump.

Click here to Tweet this article

Donald Trump, Mike Lindell, MyPillow

Among the most prominent of the Trump cult disciples is the notorious MyPillow pitchman, Mike Lindell. For the past two years Lindell has been peddling Trump’s crackpot contention that there was so much voter fraud that the election results should be disregarded and Trump restored to power. Never mind that there hasn’t been a shred of evidence provided to support their conspiracy theories. And Lindell has been implicated in federal crimes related to his fraud mongering.

RELATED: Fox News and Trump FREAK OUT Over the FBI Seizing MyPillow Guy Mike Lindell’s Phone

As result of their bogus claims, Dominion Voting Systems filed a billion dollar lawsuit for defamation against Fox News and others, including Newsmax, One America News Network (OAN), Rudy Giuliani, and Lindell. Last year an appeals court refused Lindell’s motion for dismissal. He subsequently appealed to the Supreme Court. And now that court has also rejected him

“The Supreme Court on Monday declined to hear an appeal from a prominent supporter of former President Donald Trump who is trying to fend off a defamation suit from a voting company he falsely accused of rigging the 2020 election.

“Michael Lindell, the founder of MyPillow and a regular presence at Trump’s rallies, is fighting a $1.3 billion defamation suit filed in federal court by US Dominion, the company that manufacturers voting machines used in several battleground states. Lindell’s effort was denied by a Trump-appointed U.S. District judge last year.”

This ruling by the Supreme Court affirms that Dominion’s charges of defamation are viable and that it can reasonably be construed that Lindell knew that what he was saying was false, or that he should have known.

This comes on the heels of another Lindell court loss wherein he filed his own defamation suit against Dominion and another company that made voting software, Smartmatic. That lawsuit was also thrown out, but not before Lindell bragged that it would be so successful that the Supreme Court would eventually rule in his favor 9-0, and would overturn the election and reinstate Trump. No, really…

“We’re gonna bring it to the Supreme Court. It’s gonna be 9-0. They’re gonna take this election down. And yes, Donald Trump will be your president. He is the president now.”

None of this should surprise anyone who has followed Lindell’s antics. He has been promising to expose the massive fraud and corruption of the American democratic system for two years. He has held symposiums where he guaranteed that irrefutable evidence would be presented. He produced a crocumentary that he called “Absolute Proof” that had nothing in it that was either absolute or proof. In fact, it was so lacking in credibility that when it was aired on OAN, they preceded it with a disclaimer that essentially disavowed it entirely.

RELATED: Watch the Hysterical Disclaimer For the MyPillow Guy’s ‘Absolute Proof’ Doc on OAN

So now Lindell has lost the ultra-rightist, Trump-fluffing OAN, and the Trump-dominated Supreme Court. Which can only mean that he will shortly be announcing that the REAL proof is going to be released in two weeks by the reanimated JFK, Jr and a committee comprised of Keebler elves. Stay tuned.

Trump Truthfully Tells His Cult Rally Rabble that ‘I Think They’d Like To See Me In Prison’

Pathological liar Donald Trump doesn’t tell the truth very often. He has a record for blatantly lying during his occupation of the White House that President Biden – nor any future president – can ever hope to match. So when he does manage to say something truthful he deserves to get credit for it.

Click here to Tweet this article

Donald Trump, Prison

Trump has spent the past two years whining about his having lost the 2020 presidential election. However, his efforts to prove any of his claims that the election was “rigged and stolen” from him have failed in more than sixty court challenges for lack of even a shred of evidence. It is that campaign to undermine democracy that has come to be known as the “Big Lie.” Even his own Attorney General, Bill Barr, said it was “bullshit.”

RELATED: AG Bill Barr on Trump’s Big Lie: We Realized From the Beginning it Was Just Bull****

At his latest travelling salvation show, Trump rattled off his tedious litany of complaints and perceived victimhood. He repeated his well worn lines about the media, the election he lost, and always his seething hatred for all things democratic and his nemesis who bests him on all counts, President Biden. But on one matter Trump actually got something right at the end of a lie-riddled rant when he sobbed that…

“They’re trying to wipe out free speech, crush religious liberty, confiscate your guns, indoctrinate your children, criminalize dissent, and even put their political opponents in prison. I think they’d like to see me in prison. Can you imagine? I think they’d like… You know why? You know why? Because they’re sick. They’re sick people.”

Can you imagine? Can you imagine that law abiding Americans want politicians who commit crimes to be punished? Is it within your ability to grasp that people who incite violence in the process of staging a coup should be held accountable? Do you really believe that stealing highly sensitive national security materials, hoarding them in your hotel/home, and lying to the FBI about it should be prosecuted? Would you want authorities to investigate someone who committed bank and tax fraud for millions of dollars?

For the record, most Americans would answer all of those questions in the affirmative. Recent polling shows that nearly six in ten voters think that Trump should face charges over the January 6th insurrection. Even a Fox News poll shows that voters think Trump’s theft of classified documents was wrong by a whopping 39 point margin (65% to 26%).

As usual, just about everything else in Trump’s rally harangue is flagrantly false. It is Trump and his Republican comrades who have threatened free speech, literally proposing to ban books and censor media. They have fouled the notion of religious liberty by forcing their beliefs on everyone else. Their love affair with guns puts Americans at risk every day. And their idea of education is a true form of indoctrination that excises any historical facts that make conservatives uncomfortable, such as slavery and discrimination against minorities, immigrants, women, and LGBTQ.

RELATED: Biden Was Wrong to Call MAGA Republicans Merely ‘Semi’ Fascist

Trump’s complaints about people wanting to see him in prison run in stark contrast to his own advocacy of prison for his political opponents. He routinely accuses others of crimes without any facts to support his charges. His rallies regularly feature chants of “Lock [him/her] up,” for unidentified crimes and without trial or conviction. And just to demonstrate his raging hypocrisy, that chant was even taken up within minutes of his prison whining at Saturday’s rally. You really can’t make this up…

Fascista Marjorie Taylor Greene: If I was Speaker of the House I Would Reign with an Iron Fist

One of the benefits of having political opposition as fanatical and stuporous as Donald Trump’s Republican Party is that they so often say out loud, and in public, exactly what atrocities they intend to commit and how they would govern if given the power. Not that it makes their intentions any less abhorrent, but at least we know what’s on their minds.

Marjorie Taylor Greene, QAnon

On Saturday Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene ventured to Michigan to be part of the opening act for yet another Trump cult rally. In her remarks she candidly revealed just what sort of “leadership” she would provide if she were get a political promotion. And it was precisely what you would expect from a demagogue who seeks to force her political and religious beliefs done the throats of the nation.

RELATED: Rachel Maddow Unmasks the Virulent Racism of Marjorie Taylor Green and Christian Nationalism

Greene was greeted with the adoration of a messianic apostle. The crowd recognized her closeness to Trump and his cult hierarchy. So they cheered her when she said that…

“I am not going to mince words with you all. Democrats want Republicans dead and they have already started the killings.”

This is the sort of rhetoric that is intended to incite violence. You don’t tell a frothing throng of devotees that there are people who are bent on murdering you – and have already begun the slaughter – without the knowledge that it will provoke them into what they might consider self defense. Greene actually wants these people to assault any Democrats they may happen to encounter, because if they don’t the Democrat will slay them where they stand. It’s sick, dangerously reckless, and characteristic of tyrannical wannabes.

Greene’s lust for power greatly exceeds her ability to understand what legal constraints come with it, or what moral standards are necessary to exercise it responsibly. For Greene, and her GOP comrades, just acquiring power is the goal, and deploying it to suppress her foes is its only purpose. Which explains her comments on the podcast of crusading conservative Charlie Kirk, where she said that…

“If I was Speaker of the House … I would reign with an iron fist. And I would end everything that [Democrats] have been doing.”

Good to know. So along with fomenting violence, Greene would dispense with democracy. She would strongarm her congressional colleagues. She would “reign” supreme in the “People’s House.” Her “iron fist” control of the lower chamber of Congress would be her fiefdom.

Republicans have admitted that they don’t respect the democratic process. They refuse to accept any election results where they are not the winners. And we know this because they say so. Greene was helpful enough to let everyone know what her intentions are should she and her party take the majority in the upcoming midterm elections. Now it is up to the rest of the freedom and democracy loving American people to make sure that doesn’t happen.

Tucker Carlson of Fox News Secretly Lobbied for Trump to Pardon Convicted Felon Roger Stone

The lines dividing Fox News from the ultra-rightist Republican Party and the abominable Cult of Donald Trump were erased long ago. There is no discernible distinction whatsoever between Trump’s GOP and Rupert Murdoch’s propaganda network. They work hand in hand to undermine democracy and advance the authoritarian aspirations and agenda of their Dear Leader Trump.

Click here to Tweet this article

Donald Trump, Roger Stone

The latest revelation affirming this nefarious coupling of wingnut media and wretched politicians comes in a passage from the new book by New York Times reporter, Maggie Haberman, “Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America.” The book exposes numerous depravities from the Trump presidency, including that Trump “resisted denouncing White supremacists,” “made light of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s declining health, “ and his Chief of Staff John Kelly describing Trump as a “fascist.”

RELATED: Crybaby Trump Dumps on His Favorite New York Times Reporter for Telling the Truth About Him

Haberman recounts Trump’s efforts to absolve his criminal co-conspirators of any responsibility for their crimes. Specifically, she reports that Tucker Carlson of Fox News personally lobbied the White House to pardon convicted felon Roger Stone. According to Rolling Stone

“During Trump’s fourth year in office, Carlson also held a secret meeting at the White House with Jared Kushner as part of a pressure campaign aimed at forcing Trump to pardon Roger Stone, according to the upcoming book Confidence Man.”

Haberman wrote that…

“If Trump failed to deliver, Carlson made clear, he would press the issue publicly. Kushner was noncommittal, and a few days later Carlson launched what became a monthslong campaign on his friend’s behalf.”

So Carlson was going far beyond merely urging the Trump administration to pardon Stone. He was actually extorting them with the threat of using his program to attack them if they didn’t comply with his demand. That says something about the weakness of Trump’s White House, that it could be manipulated so easily, and that squeaky cable pundits weren’t afraid to push them around.

Not that Trump needed much pushing. He was already leaning toward pardoning his accomplice, Stone, who he thought was being treated too harshly by his own Justice Department. And that was after then-Attorney General Bill Barr had overruled and lessened the prosecutors’ penalty recommendation.

Stone had been found guilty of witness tampering and lying to Congress, crimes that carry prison terms of up to nine years. Barr got that reduced to 40 months. But Trump later pardoned Stone, along with his confederates Paul Manafort, Michael Flynn, and Steve Bannon.

RELATED: The REAL Criminal: Roger Stone Was Prosecuted for Covering Up for Trump

Tusker Carlson injecting himself into White House political and criminal matters is blatantly inappropriate. No reputable journalist would ever consider it. So it’s a good thing that Fox News doesn’t consider Carlson to be either reputable or a journalist. In fact, Fox News lawyers argued in court – successfully – that he couldn’t be found to be guilty of defamation because no reasonable person would believe anything he says. Sadly, there are way too many unreasonable persons who watch Fox News every day.

Trevor Noah is Leaving the Daily Show – And Creating a Huge Opening for Media Satire

Late night TV comedy is getting significantly shaken up with the news that Trevor Noah is quitting as host of “The Daily Dhow” after seven years. He made the announcement on Thursday night in an emotional statement (video below) that recalled his unexpected selection to take over from Jon Stewart, and his early days in the anchor chair.

Click here to Tweet this article

Trevor Noah

There was no timetable given for his departure, and no indication of who might succeed him. Noah thanked his staff and crew and audience saying that…

“I’ve loved hosting this show. It’s been one of my greatest challenges. It’s been one of my greatest joys. I’ve loved trying to figure out how to make people laugh even when the stories are particularly shitty on the worst days.”

Noah was never in an easy position as the guy who had to follow in Jon Stewart’s footsteps. He had some hits and some misses during his tenure. But he eventually put his own stamp on the show and connected with a new audience. His focus leaned more heavily on racial politics and international affairs. He said early on that he didn’t want to continue doing jokes about Fox News and other media. That was unfortunate in my view.

Jon Stewart’s Daily Show was not, as many people assumed, political satire. It was media satire. The whole premise was one of a fake news show with a fake anchor and fake correspondents, who mocked the failures and absurdities of the corporate television press. Naturally, Fox News was a frequent target given its abundance of material to ridicule. It is a feast of bias and lies and propaganda. But much of the mockery of that has receded during the Noah years. Which is too bad because there isn’t any other program on TV that is dedicated to media satire.

When Comedy Central selects its next Daily Show host, here’s hoping that they return to those roots and take on the media again. There is more reason to do so now than ever. Fox News has veered much farther into the fringy far right with their embrace of the loopy cult of Donald Trump and his QAnon-flecked following. Add to that Newsmax, the One America News Network, and an emerging crop of wingnut streaming and podcasting, and you have a severely unbalanced press pool that is screaming out for satirical spankings. Even CNN with new owners is lurching to the right.

So who are the most promising prospects to take over the Daily Show? There is actually a pretty deep a bench. It includes inspired comics like Jordan Klepper, Amber Ruffin, Samantha Bee, Roy Wood Jr., Desi Lydic, and Hasan Minhaj. However, it isn’t certain that Comedy Central will even continue the program. That would be a shame. In the meantime, we still have Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel and, of course, Jon Stewart, to lighten the load.

UPDATE: Trump weighed in on Noah’s announcement with a typically asinine comment saying that “Trevor Noah was a waste of time, no talent, no anything. Jon Stewart was only slightly better, but highly overrated.” He went on to advise Comedy Central not to do political comedy. But if they do, it should be all conservative. Sure, because Dennis Miller is cracking them up in whatever comedy graveyard he’s working in.

Crybaby Trump Dumps on His Favorite New York Times Reporter for Telling the Truth About Him

The Great Meltdown of Donald Trump continues to sweep over the nation as his legal peril escalates and his grasp of reality declines. Trump’s psychotic breakdowns are the most predictable aspects of his noxious character, or lack thereof. And they always build to a climax when he is legitimately criticized by politicians or pundits who know him all too well.

Donald Trump, Maggie Haberman

On Friday morning Trump lashed out at New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman whose new book, “Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America,” recounts the depravities of Trump’s presidency and personality.

RELATED: Big Baby Trump Whines to Fox News that Reporter ‘Maggot’ Haberman Revealed His Poor Potty Training

Haberman has been both one of Trump’s favorites and one of his foes. On his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, Trump once again turned against Haberman writing that…

“Here we go again! Another Fake book is out, this one, supposedly very boring and stale, by self appointed head case, Failing (unfunded liability!) New York Times writer, Maggie Hagerman. In it she tells many made up stories, with zero fact checking or confirmation by anyone who would know, like me. In one case she lies about me wanting to fire my daughter, Ivanka, and Jared. WRONG, pure fiction. Never even crossed my mind. Just have to fight trouble making creeps like Maggie, and all the rest!”

Let’s set aside the bizarre and infantile ranting that Haberman appointed herself a “head case,” and Trump’s cranky review of her book as “boring and stale.” What Trump is really upset about is that Haberman has so accurately revealed some of the humiliating moments of his occupation of the White House that he would prefer remain private. She interviewed more than 250 People, including Trump – three times. And specifically with regard to the Ivanka and Jared revelations, CNN reports that…

“Trump raised the prospect of firing Ivanka Trump and Kushner, who were both senior White House aides, during meetings with then-chief of staff John Kelly and then-White House counsel Don McGahn, Haberman writes. At one point, he was about to tweet that his daughter and son-in-law were leaving the White House – but he was stopped by [Chief of Staff John] Kelly, who told Trump he had to speak with them directly first.”

Additionally, Haberman’s book reveals that Trump “resisted denouncing White supremacists,” “made light of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s declining health, “[Kelly] described Trump as a “fascist,” and that his staff “found documents flushed down the toilet.”

The book also exposes just how ignorant Trump was and is of government, and his authoritarian aspirations. When confronted with news of his first impeachment, Trump babbled, “I’ll just sue Congress. They can’t do this to me.” He also believed that Republicans in the Senate “could block legislation by skipping votes,” and that “The vice president’s vote doesn’t count. It doesn’t count. You might want to check this,” And after losing the 2020 election “Trump vowed to aides that he simply wouldn’t leave the White House.”

RELATED: It’s Time for the Media to Cover Donald Trump as the Messiah of the QAnon Cult

So naturally Trump is berating Haberman. But the only real complaint should be that she withheld this information from the public so that she can profit from it in her book.

Still, the last thing Trump wants is for factual accounts of his childish, hostile, and ignorant behavior to be documented and published. And, as usual, he provides no basis whatsoever for his criticisms. It’s just another tantrum by a paranoid narcissist who can’t handle the truth.

UPDATE: Later the same day Trump felt it was necessary to make sure that everyone knows just how emotionally stunted and immature he is, so he posted another comment calling his NY Times nemesis “Maggot” Haberman. He’s still stuck significantly below the eight year old level.

Idiots at Fox News Downplay Hurricane Damage ‘In Our Country’ vs Puerto Rico

As Hurricane Ian rumbles over Florida and much of the south eastern seaboard, leaving human and material destruction in its wake, the coverage of this unnatural product of climate change by Fox News proves to be just another opportunity to propagate disinformation and amplify ignorance.

Hurricane Shooter

On Thursday morning, host Martha MacCallum responded to comments by her colleague Bill Hemmer regarding the the state of the power grid in Florida following the hurricane’s landfall. Hemmer noted that 200,000 people were reported to have lost power, and that that number was likely go up in the next few hours. MacCallum agreed and added that…

“You know you feel terrible for people in Puerto Rico who were just hit, in Cuba who were just hit. Thank God we have better infrastructure in our country. We’ve put a lot of investment into making sure that we’re ready for these things. But it’s an act of nature and you never know exactly what to expect.”

Who wants to tell MacCallum that Puerto Rico is “in our country”? This is a “mistake” that is often made on Fox News, where they seem loathe to concede that the mostly Latino citizens of Puerto Rico are, in fact, Americans.

However, as bad as that was, it wasn’t the only ignorant blunder made by both Hemmer and MacCallum. Their praise for authentic, unadulterated, American infrastructure neglected to notice that there are actually more than two million Floridians without power. So the failures of the energy facilities on the mainland were no less severe than those on the tiny and distant island. Even though they have the advantage of being connected to the broader national power grid.

This might be a good time for a reminder that the vast majority of Republicans in Congress voted against the passage of President Biden’s Infrastructure Bill.

What’s more, Donald Trump has been a prolific promoter of purposeful lies with regard to past natural disasters. Following his infamous paper towel throwing affair in Puerto Rico, Trump sought to make the tragedies of Hurricane Maria disappear. He tweeted that…

“3000 people did not die in the two hurricanes that hit Puerto Rico. When I left the Island, AFTER the storm had hit, they had anywhere from 6 to 18 deaths. As time went by it did not go up by much. Then, a long time later, they started to report really large numbers, like 3000. This was done by the Democrats in order to make me look as bad as possible.”

Actually, Democrats had nothing to do with the casualty estimates. And Trump doesn’t need anyone’s help to make him look bad. The 3,000 fatalities were verified by both non-partisan government agencies and independent researchers at George Washington University. They were also affirmed by the Republican governor of Puerto Rico.

The fact that Fox News is intent on callously discounting the hardship and grief suffered by victims of Hurricane Ian shouldn’t surprise anyone. They are the same network that stood behind Trump when he asked whether we could nuke a hurricane. And then there was the time that he described North Carolina’s Hurricane Florence in 2018 as “a tough hurricane. One of the wettest we’ve ever seen from the standpoint of water.” Both Florence and Ian were classified as Category 4. But maybe Trump declassified Florence with his mind, saving untold lives.

R U KIDDING? Trump Offers to ‘Head Up Group’ to Negotiate an End to Russia’s War on Ukraine

One of Donald Trump’s favorite reality defying rhetorical maneuvers is to insist that some recent circumstance would never have happened if he were still president. He’s used it to claim that there would have been no inflation, that the U.S. would have left Afghanistan peacefully, that COVID would have disappeared, and essentially that his perpetual occupation of the White House would mean eternal paradise on earth. He’d probably say that there would have been no hurricane if he were still king.

Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin

Perhaps more often than any other of these preposterous claims was Trump’s insistence that Russia would not have invaded Ukraine if he were president. Trump employs this sort of baseless speculation because it is impossible to disprove an imaginary past. However, it is easy to conclude from past behavior that if Trump were in office when Russia chose to attack Ukraine that he would have been on Russia’s side. And he surely would not have provided assistance to Ukraine, whose president he extorted in an attempt to get him to dig up dirt on then-candidate Joe Biden. Which is why he got impeached the first time.

On Wednesday morning Trump posted a comment on his floundering social media scam, Truth Social, that once again asserted his fabrications as fact. And he went further to propose himself as the universal solver of any and every problem that humans face…

“U.S. ‘Leadership’ should remain ‘cool, calm, and dry’ on the SABOTAGE of the Nord Stream Pipelines. This is a big event that should not entail a big solution, at least not yet. The Russia/Ukraine catastrophe should NEVER have happened, and would definitely not have happened if I were President. Do not make matters worse with the pipeline blowup. Be strategic, be smart (brilliant!), get a negotiated deal done NOW. Both sides need and want it. The entire World is at stake. I will head up group???”

First of all, Trump’s perception of himself as “cool, calm, and dry” is downright hysterical. He is without peer as America’s most mentally unbalanced politician ever. Secondly, Trump’s concern about the Nord Stream pipeline explosion is difficult to take seriously. He has already blamed it on the Biden administration without any proof whatsoever. That, of course, is typical of his “Blame America First” tendencies. The last thing he would ever do is criticize his hero and mentor, Vladimir Putin.

However, the peak of Trump’s lunacy is revealed in his deranged proposal that he should “head the group” dispatched to negotiate an end to the Russian aggression against Ukraine. That would be like sending Himmler to represent the Allies in peace talks with Hitler. We know whose side Trump is on. He has already called for appeasement of Russia, including his solution to let Putin annex parts of Eastern Ukraine.

Trump’s latest comment is another suggestion that Ukraine “get a negotiated deal done NOW.” But why should Ukraine agree to any Russian demand for territory that doesn’t belong to them? Ukraine is winning this war and can prevail with the support of Western allies.

Trump, on the other hand, is is waving the white flag of surrender. And that’s the sort of cowardly, traitorous “leadership” that he has provided in the past and would provide in the future if he were ever to regain power in the U.S. He’s telling us so explicitly. We must not allow it to happen.
