Glenn Beck Visits Fox News with a Doomsday Prophesy that Scares the Snot Out of Tucker Carlson

Y’all better get ready, people. The End Times are upon us. And that divine prognosticator, Glenn Beck, sees it all clearly. And, praise Gawd, Fox News is there to welcome the Rev. Beck and disseminate his “wisdom” to the masses who gather nightly to soak in the sermons of Friar Tucker Carlson.

Glenn Beck Messiah

On Tuesday night’s episode of Carlson’s Fright Wing Glower Hour, Carlson handed his pulpit over to Beck to propound on the impending apocalypse. It’s a subject that Beck knows well and has been predicting for years. But this time he really means it. So take heed and prepare yourself for the long awaited and total decline of Western civilization that Beck imparted unto Carlson, saying that…

“This is not an American problem. This is the entire West going away by 2030. And I think – you know the World Economic Forum just war gamed the next economic collapse. I think that’s coming in the next couple of years. I could be wrong. I usually am on timing. But when that happens, it is lights out. It is over. They will control your food, your water, your work, your education, your banking, your money, gasoline. […] They are going to bankrupt the entire West. And only the elites are going to be able to have money, the food they want, the jobs they want, etc., etc. We will be left in the dust. We must educate ourselves right now.”

Let that sink in. The Western economy is going to collapse in a couple of years and “the entire West [is] going away by 2030.” If that doesn’t scare the bejeezus out of you, just take a look at Carlson’s glazed over gaze. He has an encrusted expression of utter dread throughout Beck’s ominous oratory. If it didn’t blink a few times you’d think it was a cardboard cutout. Carlson is clearly frozen with fear.

And why shouldn’t he be? With President Biden in the White House orchestrating a socialist takeover of America by mandating life-saving vaccines to combat a deadly pandemic, and democracy zealots trying to make it easier for people of color, undocumented immigrants, and (gasp) Democrats, to cancel out the votes of white, Trumpian Republicans, and climate change (oops, that one’s real, and they aren’t worried about it). Given the prospects of this nightmarish future, the end can’t come too soon.

If you doubt Beck’s premonitions, be aware that he has predicted similar catastrophes before, so he must know what he’s talking about. Prior to the 2020 election, Beck prophesized that “If the Republicans don’t win in this next election, I think we are officially at the end of the country as we know it.” But that’s just the most recent warning.

Preceding that Beck said that ObamaCare would be the end of country, and that Obama’s reelection would be the end of the country, and that gay marriage would be the end of the country, and that Common Core education reform would be the end of the country, and that fluorides poisoning our vital bodily fluids would be the end of the country (oh wait, that one may have been Dr. Strangelove), and even that electing Trump would be a disaster because he was “dangerously unhinged.”

Never mind that Beck also once said that that “So much of what I used to believe was either always a sham or has been made into a sham.” He has since recanted that confession and is now confidant that his shams were the real thing. And Carlson is a true believer, despite the fact that his own Fox News lawyers once defended him in a defamation lawsuit by successfully arguing that no reasonable person would take him seriously.

So perhaps it is finally time to pack it in and set sail for whatever dystopia these Judgment Day deplorables are prepping for. If the Rapture is imminent, you wouldn’t want to get left behind, would you?

UPDATE: Beck has COVID (again) and it’s “getting into my lungs.” So he’s taking Ivermectin and wheezing through an interview with Fox’s Mark Levin.

Tacky Tucker Carlson ‘Mistakes’ Nancy Pelosi for Michael Jackson – And He Thinks That’s … Funny?

For anyone who has wondered what makes Tucker Carlson the top rated program on Fox News, Carlson has helpfully provided the answer to that perplexing question. In order to achieve that kind of popularity among Fox’s audience of dimwitted deplorables, you really need to dig deep into the well of infantile asininity. And no one does that better than Tucker Carlson.

Fox News, Tucker Carlson

On Monday night’s episode of Carlson’s show, the ordinarily humor-challenged host morphed into a kindergarten comic. Carlson demonstrated that he can wallow in the mud as well as any other pig. And to prove it, he aired a segment that is representative of his stunted maturation and venal character, or lack thereof. The bit focused on Carlson’s witless view that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi resembles the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson (embarrassing video below). He began…

“Yesterday was Sunday and you may have found yourself on the couch idly flipping around the TV dial, and if you flipped far enough you could have had the shock of your life. Michael Jackson was on Face the Nation. Let’s be clear, this wasn’t a video of Michael Jackson performing his hit songs of the 1990s. This appeared to be a living version of the international pop star that news reports claimed died of a drug OD more than a dozen years ago. And yet despite those claims there he was, fully, undeniably Michael Jackson talking on television. How can that be? Honestly, we have no idea. We’re not theologians here. This is merely a news program. We can only show you what we saw. Here it is.”

Whereupon Carlson cut to a video clip of Pelosi on Face the Nation making a rather salient point about how the Republican Party has been engaging in voter suppression and other anti-democratic acts aimed at undermining free and fair elections, saying that…

“There is nothing more important we can do than protect our Constitution and democracy. What the Republicans are doing across the country is really a legislative continuation of what they did on January 6th, which is to undermine our democracy.”

In response to that potent political reality, Carlson sunk to the occasion by concluding…

“See? Michael Jackson. That was him. No ‘Billie Jean.’ Apparently, he’s given up singing and is telling lies about politics. Same man. If you’ve ever seen Michael Jackson, you cannot forget the face – though admittedly, he’s had a lot of work done since we saw him last.”

Hilarious, isn’t it? This is the level of intellectual discourse that has made Carlson and Fox News such a ratings magnet for reprehensible rightists and brain damaged Trump cultists. He obviously couldn’t engage in a substantive debate, so he fell back on childish insults that no self-respecting juvenile delinquent would resort to. And this is worse than a bad joke. It’s a bitterly misogynistic attack on a woman of substance, disparaging her physically in order to ignore her compelling pleadings on behalf of American democracy.

Carlson is best known for crackpot conspiracy carping, such as his recent crocumentary, “Patriot Purge,” that accused the the FBI of orchestrating Donald Trump’s January 6th insurrection in Washington, D.C. He took Russia’s side against America and democracy. He slobbered all over Hungarian dictator Viktor Orbán. He is an ardent advocate of the racist “white replacement theory.” And he is a vaccinated anti-vaxxer who spreads paranoid lies that vaccines don’t work and “they” aren’t telling you.

Carlson’s petty and personal attack on Pelosi is pretty pathetic. And he is really the last person who should risk venturing down the path of insults to appearances. After all, he is someone burdened with resting “Is that poop in my Depends” face. He reeks with the forbearance of the frozen fish heir elitism from which he was spawned. And he could be mistaken for a gene-modifying clone experiment of Three Stooges icon, Curly Howard, that went horribly wrong…

Other than that, Carlson can rest easy with the knowledge that his own lawyers at Fox News defended him in a defamation lawsuit by successfully arguing that no reasonable person would take him seriously. Perhaps we can now exclude unreasonable persons and bratty toddlers as well.

Tucker Carlson Emasculates Ted Cruz and Lies that ‘Not a Lot Happened’ on January 6th

One year ago, Donald Trump sent his glassy-eyed disciples on a mission to undermine American democracy in a violent attempt to cling to power and fulfill his authoritarian aspirations. What resulted was a deadly assault on Congress that put the lives its members – and even Trump’s vice-president – at dire risk of grave injury or worse.

Fox News, Tucker Carlson, Bullshit Factory

Trump’s January 6th insurrection will be remembered as among the darkest days of American history. Except, of course, by Trump and his treasonous cohorts. In fact, Trump has already responded to the observance of the anniversary of his coup attempt with exactly the sort of grotesquery for which he is so well known.

Meanwhile, Trump’s Ministry of Propaganda (aka Fox News) was on its own mission to keep its viewers pitifully ignorant and drenched in disinformation. On this solemn occasion, the narrative on Fox News was that there was no insurrection at all. Fox has adopted Trump’s wholly fictional framing of the horrific affair as “protest” by peaceful patriots. And the first order of business was to slap down any wayward Republicans who diverted from that doctrine.

At the forefront of this media spin cycle was Tucker Carlson, Fox’s Senior White Nationalist. Carlson was aghast at hearing Sen. Ted Cruz describe the insurrection as “a terror attack.” And he let Cruz know it when the disobedient senator submitted himself for discipline. For his part, Cruz bent over with shameless contrition:

Carlson: You call this a terror attack when by no definition was it a terror attack. That was a lie. You told that lie on purpose and I’m wondering why you did.
Cruz: The way I phrased things yesterday, it was sloppy and, frankly, it was dumb.
Carlson: I don’t buy that. Whoa whoa whoa! I don’t buy that. […] Every word – you repeated that phrase. I do not believe that you used that accidentally. I just don’t! […]
Cruz: Tucker, I agree with you. It was a mistake to say that yesterday.
Carlson: I guess I just don’t believe you. And I mean that with respect.

Respect? Carlson repeatedly called Cruz a liar to his face, and Cruz agreed with him. Which shouldn’t surprise anyone who recalls that Cruz still became a Trump suck-up after Trump insulted his wife and accused his father of assassinating John F. Kennedy. This is pretty good evidence that Fox News is not the media arm of the Republican Party. but that the Republican Party is the political arm of Fox News.

As for Carlson’s assertion that the insurrection was by “no definition” a terrorist attack, he might want to check the Justice Department’s definition of terrorism that states that…

“The FBI defines terrorism, domestic or international, as the unlawful use of force or violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a Government or civilian population in furtherance of political or social objectives.”

In other words, precisely what took place on January 6, 2021. However, while that exchange looks pretty awful for both Carlson and Cruz, it wasn’t the worst of Carlson’s blather. Prior to emasculating Cruz, Carlson constructed an alternate reality about the insurrection:

“If you take three steps back as historical events go, if we are being honest now, Jan. 6 barely rates as a footnote. Really not a lot happened that day if you think about it. The presidential election was not overturned, the Capitol was not destroyed, the government was not toppled, no matter what you may have heard. Not a single elected official was injured. […] None of the so-called insurrectionists had guns.”

“Not a lot happened?” Sure, if you regard five deaths, 140 injured police officers, $30 million in damage, and the stain on the constitutional principle of democratic self-governance as “not a lot.”

Carlson’s interpretation of the banality of the insurrection is preposterous and purposefully dishonest. Just because it failed doesn’t mean that it wasn’t profoundly destructive and a threat to the future of a free nation. Would Carlson say that “not a lot happened” if a man survived a heart attack while his house was on fire, just because he lived through it and the fire was eventually extinguished? In that analogy, quite a lot happened and the victim’s life was forever changed.

Perhaps a better analogy would be to ask Carlson how he would feel if a marauding mob invaded the Fox News offices, smashed through doors and windows, assaulted police and security, and vandalized property, while chanting “Hang Rupert Murdoch.”

What’s more, Carlson’s claim that “None of the so-called insurrectionists had guns,” was another flagrant lie. PolitiFact debunked that falsehood last year when Fox’s Maria Bartiromo and Trump were disgorging it:

“Court records and news reports show that many insurrectionists were armed, and several were charged with having firearms on Capitol grounds or stashed nearby while in Washington D.C. In addition, rioters had weapons other than firearms and used them during the attack.”

Finally, Carlson deliberately mangled what President Biden said in his January 6th speech:

“Biden told the country that, in fact, symbolically January 6th was worse than the Civil War. The American Civil War. That would be the war that killed more than a million people. January 6th was worse than that because somebody held a naughty flag.”

Of course, Biden never said that. And Carlson’s noxious trivialization of the congressional invasion as merely “naughty” is typical of his irredeemably deceitful character, or lack thereof. What Biden actually said was:

“Rioters rampaging, waving for the first time inside this Capitol a Confederate flag that symbolized the cause to destroy America, to rip us apart. Even during the Civil War, that never, ever happened. But it happened here in 2021.”

Biden wasn’t saying that the insurrection was worse than the Civil War. He was merely pointing out the Confederate rebels never managed to carry their flag into the seat of the U.S. government. Carlson knows that. He just wants to further drown his dimwitted viewers in lies and to keep them artificially enraged. All the better to send them into the next insurrection that Carlson surely wants see take place.

Trump Endorses the Fascist Wannabe Dictator Viktor Orbán of Hungary Because – Of Course He Does

One of the most disturbing and destructive skid marks of Donald Trump’s ghastly occupancy of the White House was a foreign policy devoted to alienating America’s allies and embracing its enemies. He had a particularly perverse affinity for brutal tyrants such as Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping, and Kim Jung Un, whose interests he always seemed to be pursuing.

Donald Trump

Now in exile from Washington for the past year, Trump is demonstrating that nothing has changed. He is still in awe of the authoritarians whose unchecked dominance he so envied. On Monday Trump released a statement (via his Twitter ban defying spokes-shill) officially endorsing the Hungarian fuehrer, Viktor Orbán. Trump gushed that…

“Viktor Orbán of Hungary truly loves his Country and wants safety for his people. He has done a powerful and wonderful job in protecting Hungary, stopping illegal immigration, creating jobs, trade, and should be allowed to continue to do so in the upcoming Election. He is a strong leader and respected by all. He has my Complete support and Endorsement for reelection as Prime Minister!”

The reasons Trump gives for his noxious endorsement are chillingly reminiscent of his praise for Putin and other oppressive strongmen. These despots are always portrayed by Trump as loving their country. Presumably it’s the same sort of love expressed by the insurrectionists sent by Trump to assault Congress on January 6, 2021. And naturally Trump is approving of the racist immigration policies of Orbán. However, he couldn’t be more wrong about the respect that he says Orbán enjoys. Quite the opposite. Orbán has antagonized and estranged his European neighbors.

What’s more, according to Human Rights Watch, Hungary’s parliament gave Orbán rights that allow him to rule “with unlimited power for an indefinite time.” He has the power now to strike down and/or implement laws by decree. And democratic elections have been suspended.

And if that isn’t bad enough, Orbán has consolidated control over the country’s judiciary and media. Reporters Without Borders has noted that oligarchs close to Hungary’s ruling Fidesz party control more than 80% of the media in the country, while private media is discriminated against and characterized as publishing “fake news.” No wonder Trump adores him.

It is not surprising, though, that Trump would pay tribute to Orbán. He is very likely taking his queues from Tucker Carlson of Fox News. Last August Carlson made a pilgrimage to Hungary to curtsy obediently before Orbán. Why wouldn’t he? The targets of Orbán’s hostility and lies are often the same as those that Trump and Fox News go after. CNN’s Jim Acosta reported on Carlson’s trek to the totalitarian dystopia.

So Trump is once again affirming that he is an anti-democratic, freedom-hating, friend to flagrant fascists. He even said so explicitly during his recent “Sexual Predators Tour” with Bill O’Reilly. Both Trump and O’Reilly had moments wherein they displayed their utter disgust for America. While discussing his record on foreign relations, Trump admitted that the world leaders he “got along best with were tyrants. For whatever reason, I got along great with them.”

“For whatever reason?” We know the reason. It’s because they are the people he relates to and most hopes to emulate. God forbid he ever gets another chance to. As the Republican co-chair of the House Select Committee investigating January 6th, Rep. Liz Cheney recently warned: Trump “clearly can never be anywhere near the Oval Office ever again.”

Fox News is SHOCKED that MSNBC’s Joy Reid Rightly Berated Them for Killing Off Their Audience

The faux “journalists” at Fox News have long demonstrated that they have a virtually inexhaustible supply of contrived indignation. They stockpile it for occasions when they are justly accused of moral or ethical wrongdoing for which they have no plausible excuse. Then they unleash their manufactured wrath on those who have correctly criticized them.

Joy Reid, MSNBC

On Sunday’s episode of Fox’s MediaBuzz, host Howard Kurtz was worked up about a segment of MSNBC’s The Reidout wherein Joy Reid made an entirely appropriate observation about how Fox News has exacerbated the COVID pandemic by repeatedly lying about its severity and discouraging – and even mocking – common sense mitigating behavior such as wearing masks and getting vaccinated.

For instance, one of their top shills, Greg Gutfeld, recently upchucked a rancid rant advising his already deluded viewers to forego getting vaccinated or getting boosted because so-called “natural immunity” was better. Never mind that “doctor” Gutfeld’s diagnosis is contrary to all of the medical science on the subject. Likewise, Fox’s relentless campaign of coronavirus disinformation has resulted in a pandemic disparity wherein “counties that went heavily for Donald Trump have seen much lower vaccination rates and much higher death rates from COVID.

Which makes the segment on Sunday’s show all the more loathsome. Kurtz began by acknowledging that “the distrust of vaccines by some on the right is so deeply embedded that even Donald Trump can’t convince people that otherwise support him or follow him to get the shots.” Indeed, Trump was recently booed by his “fans” for admitting that he got the booster shot.

However, Kurtz did not acknowledge that the primary cause of the distrust he spoke of was lies propagated by Fox News. Then Kurtz entered into the following exchange with Emily Jashinsky of the ultra-rightist Federalist:

Kurtz: In his speech, Biden said people’s choices are affected by the dangerous misinformation on cable TV and social media. Okay, but here MSNBC’s Joy Reid went way further than that. Let’s take a look.
Reid (video): Probably the most vaccinated company in America is Fox News. They’re all vaccinated. They’re gonna live through this and let their viewers and their fans die. Because they don’t give a damn. It’s just clicks to them. They don’t care what happens. It’s just fun for them.
Kurtz: So Joy Reid says says Fox News wants you to die. What?
Jashinsky: And that’s exactly what she said. And this is just one of the many fireable offences she commits regularly on that show. Even though under normal standards those would be considered fireable offences. And she gets very little criticism from her peers. This isn’t normal. If somebody on the right said said this it would be a huge story because it’s so outrageous. It’s so extreme. And it’s a great example of why the left, why the Biden White House, why Democrats actually struggle to get those vaccine numbers up.

Kurtz’s response to Reid’s commentary materially misrepresented what she said. Reid didn’t say that “Fox News wants you to die.” She said that Fox is “let]ting] their viewers and their fans die. Because they don’t give a damn.” Letting them die is different than wanting it. Reid was making the point that Fox News was irresponsible and unconcerned with the deadly consequences of their politically motivated lies.

Jashinsky’s remarks were even more removed from reality. Since Reid’s commentary could be supported just by quoting Fox News hacks like Gutfeld and Tucker Carlson (who told viewers that the vaccines don’t work), it could hardly be grounds for termination. On the other hand, no one on Kurtz’s program bothered to mention the nauseating and truly fireable offences of Fox Newsers like Lara Logan (who compared Dr. Fauci to the sadistic and murderous Nazi “doctor” Josef Mengele), or Jesse Watters (who urged his viewers to confront Dr. Fauci and to go in with the kill shot. The kill shot with an ambush […] BOOM! He is dead.”).

The hypocrisy of Fox News is nothing new. It is a network that was founded with a mission to deceive and to advance the interests of the GOP (Greedy One Percent). And it has now evolved into the mouthpiece for the Cult of Trump and the authoritarian dystopia he aspires to rule over. What Reid said about Fox News is unarguably true, and Fox’s denial doesn’t come close to disproving it.

Trump Embraces Tucker Carlson’s Crackpot Theory that the FBI Staged the January 6th Insurrection

The deeper Donald Trump sinks into the legal morass of his own making, the more frantically he pushes preposterous conspiracy theories rooted in lies and intended to deceive and deflect. And more evidence of his criminal escapades comes out every day that is triggering his trepidations and tirades. He knows that the smoke that is swirling around him is an indicator of the fire that is soon to engulf him.

Flaming Trump

No wonder Trump is scared witless. Pending civil and criminal investigations are likely to result in Trump’s indictment and prosecution. His flunkies on Fox News were just exposed texting him during the January 6th insurrection that he incited. He just lost another court ruling forcing him to turn over his White House records to congressional investigating committees. And while he insists on Fox News that he doesn’t have anything to hide, he is suing to hide everything.

In light of all of that, Trump is spinning furiously to extinguish the blazing wreckage of his amoral existence. To that end he visited with an old and reliable Trump-fluffing ally, Candace Owens (video below). During their conversation they both endorsed one of the most ludicrous conspiracy theories currently floating around Trump World: The January 6th insurrection was a “false flag” operation orchestrated by the FBI.

This is an asinine and dangerous contrivance that has been peddled by Senior Fox News White Nationalist, Tucker Carlson for months. Carlson produced a crocumentary on the subject that was filled with flagrant falsehoods and slander. Nevertheless, Trump is now openly advancing this blatant bullpucky:

Owens: Everybody talks about January 6th. I actually want to talk about January 5th. […] We’re seeing the Tucker Carlson, Joe Rogan start to show that the FBI had some involvement in January 6. Were urging supporters to go toward the Capitol building. What is your assessment as you’re watching more and more of this information come out?
Trump: Well, I have been watching, and I’ve been watching it very closely. And a lot of people are being treated very unfairly. This should never happen in our country or any country, what happened to them. Especially when you look at the way the so-called other side is treated. But this pipe bomber or bombers – who knows if it was a pipe? Who knows what it was? They never found him? I’ve seen pictures of him and very clear pictures.

For the record, neither Carlson nor Rogan “showed” any evidence of FBI involvement in the Capitol riots. And Trump’s sympathy for those arrested for assaulting police officers, breaking through doors and windows, vandalizing the Capitol, and obstructing the lawful business of Congress, is nothing short of treasonous.

What’s more, Trump is demonstrating once again his unabashed dishonesty by lying about the Capitol pipe bomber (and, yes, they were pipe bombs). Trump says that he saw “very clear pictures” of the suspect. Which is peculiar because no such pictures exist. The FBI circulated photos of a blurry masked man:

Trump has totally bought into Carlson’s baseless contention that because there are still people who have not been apprehended, those people must be FBI agents. It’s just as accurate to surmise that they must be Martians. “Why aren’t they finding this pipe bomber?” Trump asked. “And how come other people haven’t been revealed?” And is JFK really dead? And who framed Roger Rabbit? Trump often tries to invent mysteries when he has nothing coherent to say. He’s still looking for Hillary Clinton’s emails, the DNC’s server, and Hunter Biden’s laptop.

During this “interview” Trump also repeated his claim that the real insurrection was on November 3rd, Election Day. That’s because he has a visceral hatred for democracy and sees fair elections as antithetical to his authoritarian aspirations. And he reprised his delusional belief that Black Lives Matter and Antifa were in the crowd antagonizing and agitating his otherwise peaceful cult disciples. Nearly a year has transpired and not a shred of evidence of that has been produced.

With all of these lies to spread, Trump has decided to hold a press conference on the anniversary of the January 6th insurrection. In reality, he’s just trying to steal attention for himself and away from the solemn observances that were previously scheduled by Congress and the White House.

Of course this gives Trump another opportunity to disseminate his sham version of the domestic terrorism that occurred on that awful day. If he actually does show up, look for him to unleash even more bizarre theories. Creating fictionalized renderings of reality is really all that he has left.

Trump is Planning a January 6th Press Conference to Show His Disrespect for the Victims and Democracy

The malignant narcissist of Mar-a-Lago, Donald Trump, has announced that he will be holding a “news” conference on January 6th, the anniversary of his insurrection against Congress. It is more than a little nauseating that the instigator of that deadly assault on Congress feels compelled to defile the memory and victims by staging what will surely be a pro-riot propaganda affair.

Donald Trump Insurrection

In his announcement, posted in a tweet (by his Twitter ban defying spokes-shill), Trump asked “Why isn’t the Unselect Committee of highly partisan political hacks investigating the CAUSE of the January 6th protest?” Setting aside his grade-school nickname for the House Select Committee, the answer to Trump’s question is simple. The committee is indeed investigating the cause of the riots. What bothers Trump is that the cause just happens to be him. Everybody knows it, including some of his closest associates who begged him to call it off while it was in progress.

But that hasn’t stopped him from spreading preposterous lies about the insurrection. In a new tweet he advances the crackpot conspiracy theory that the FBI secretly orchestrated the insurrection. That’s his affirmation of Tucker Carlson’s crocumentary “Patriot Purge,” that alleges that the whole thing was a “false flag” operation by the “Deep State.”

Trump’s tweet reprised his now tedious assertion that the “real” insurrection was November 3rd, Election Day. That’s because he has a visceral hatred for democracy and sees fair elections as antithetical to his authoritarian aspirations. His notice also repeated baseless claims that the election was “rigged,” without offering any proof whatsoever. After a year, and more than sixty court cases, Trump still can’t provide a shred of evidence.

Let’s be clear. There are only two reasons that Trump is scheduling his “Lie” conference on that day. First, to distract from the solemn observances that were previously announced by Congress and the White House. Speaker Nancy Pelosi said that there would be “an opportunity for members to share their experiences and reflections from that day, and a prayerful vigil in the evening.” White House press Secretary Jen Psaki said that “January 6th was one of the darkest days in our democracy. It was a day when our nation’s capital was under attack and I think there’s no question you’ll see us commemorate that day.” So naturally Trump wants to suppress those sympathetic expressions of compassion and condolences for those who were harmed.

The second reason that Trump has chosen that day is because he simply can’t stand not being the center of attention for even a few minutes. He feels compelled to counterprogram the news cycle so that it focuses on him and the flagrant falsehoods that he continues to disgorge. And if that means disrespecting the members of Congress who lives were threatened, and the more than 140 police officers who were assaulted, so be it. Trump couldn’t care less. He’s too preoccupied with himself and his own self-serving interests.

Hopefully the media will ignore Trump’s press conference. By all rights he should be left to grumble at an empty room, or one sparsely populated with disreputable shills from OAN, Newsmax, and Breitbart. He has nothing newsworthy to dispense, so why should any actual reporters show up? If he’s lucky a correspondent from The Daily Show will attend and ask him questions about QAnon’s vigil in Dallas for the return of JFK’s ghost.

UPDATE: Trump has chickened out of holding his “news” conference. Presumably because he is too scared that he might be asked questions. So he’s going to unload the same bullpucky at his next cult rally where no one can challenge him:

“In light of the total bias and dishonesty of the January 6th Unselect Committee of Democrats, two failed Republicans, and the Fake News Media, I am canceling the January 6th Press Conference at Mar-a-Lago on Thursday, and instead will discuss many of those important topics at my rally on January 15th, in Arizona.”

PolitiFact’s Lie of the Year: The January 6th Insurrection Disinformation By Trump and Fox News

Eleven months ago a mob of anti-American, democracy hating subversives stormed the United States Congress with the intention of overturning the will of the people who voted in the 2020 presidential election. They were fueled by the flagrant falsehoods and inflammatory rhetoric of Donald Trump, the Republican Party, and their Ministry of Propaganda, Fox News.

Donald Trump, Fox News, Lies

What occurred on January 6th, 2021, was a violent insurrection against America and its Constitution. The participants were the forward flank of an attempted coup by authoritarian forces led by Trump and his treasonous confederates. Now, nearly a year later, the lies and treachery have been documented by communications between Republican conspirators, boastful confessions by right-wing defectors, and hundreds of hours of contemporaneous video.

Fittingly, PolitiFact has announced that they have chosen Lies About the Capitol insurrection as their annual “Lie of the Year.” The justifications supporting their decision were detailed in a lengthy article that included numerous references to those most responsible for the torrent of blatant and dangerous dishonesty. Not surprisingly, that turned out to be Donald Trump and Fox News hosts such as Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, and Tucker Carlson. In fact, Trump is a multi-year recipient of the dishonor. PolitiFact’s assessment noted that “In the days that followed” the insurrection, Trump, the GOP, and Fox News, among others, “offered a deluge of justifications, excuses and conspiracy theories,” such as…

  • They said Jan. 6 was instigated by undercover left-wing activists who were part of antifa. That was proved false.
  • They said the rioters hadn’t used force and one Republican congressman likened the events to “a normal tourist visit.” Video proved that wrong.
  • They claimed the attack on the Capitol had nothing to do with race, even though white supremacists and far-right militia groups were among the most active participants, and many rioters wore racist t-shirts.
  • They suggested the whole affair was staged by the government, a false flag operation. Others suggested it was entirely a peaceful protest. All of that was wrong.
  • They said that the rioters were political prisoners and shouldn’t face serious charges. A host of federal judges and courts have held otherwise.

Among the most heinous misrepresentations of reality were Trump’s ludicrous claim that Right from the start it was zero threat.” And then there was Tucker Carlson’s lie-riddled crocumentary “Patriot Purge,” that preposterously asserted that the insurrection was a “false flag” operation orchestrated by the FBI and other agents of the “Deep State.”

In addition to the tribute conferred on the insurrection liars by PolitiFact, they also had a “Lie of the Year” readers poll wherein a huge majority (75%) voted for Trump’s claim that he won the 2020 presidential election. Which is, of course, related to the lies about the insurrection because it was Trump’s “Big Lie” that the election was “rigged” and “stolen” from him that triggered the assault on Congress.

PolitiFact could just have easily chosen the lies that Trump won the election, or the lies about the COVID vaccine either not working or causing harm, for their “Lie of the Year.” Both of which are also attributable to deliberate dishonesty by Trump and Fox News. But PolitiFact chose the insurrection lies because “the attack was historically important,” and because “the events of Jan. 6 were widely broadcast…So efforts to downplay and deny what happened are an attempt to brazenly recast reality itself.”

In other words, Trump, Fox News, and the other liars were so despicable that they tried to pretend that the worst attack on the U.S. Capitol since the War of 1812 didn’t happen. And they were so shameless that they tried to convince people not to believe their own eyes. Of course, that has been the modus operandi of Trump and Fox News all along. But what is truly disheartening is that, despite the abundant evidence, there is still a small but worrisome contingent of willfully ignorant believers.

GASLIGHTING: Marjorie Taylor Greene and Fox News Shamelessly Lie About Trump Insurrection Texts

The disclosure of text messages from Fox News hosts begging Donald Trump’s former chief of staff, Mark Meadows, to get Trump to renounce the January 6th insurrection is continuing to swirl around the news cycle. That’s partly because it is such a disturbing example of media sycophants intertwined with political operatives. And partly because it took Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham more than 24 hours to craft their wholly dishonest replies.

Marjorie Taylor Greene, QAnon

Now Republican QAnon representative Marjorie Taylor Greene is adding her hideous blather to the mix. She visited with Tucker Carlson Tuesday night to deliver a thoroughly predictable whitewashing of the Trump insurrection text scandal:

“You were talking about these tweets, or these text messages that Liz Cheney just loves reading out loud about Fox News employees and about members of Congress texting Mark Meadows and saying that we want the riot to stop. President Trump should ask these people to stop. That’s a good thing. Typically you want a president of the United States to tell rioters to stop, which he did. But this is what’s happening throughout this whole process.”

It’s unclear how Greene ascertained Liz Cheney’s pleasure in reading the repellent text messages that revealed the hypocrisy and dishonesty of the Fox News propaganda purveyors. Cheney certainly wasn’t smiling or showing any other outward emotion other than, perhaps, disgust. But Greene was virtually tingling with ecstasy as she exclaimed that it was “a good thing” that Trump had to be pleaded with to call off his violent supporters who were storming Congress.

Greene was correct in saying that “you want a president of the United States to tell rioters to stop.” But you most assuredly do not want a president who has to be begged – by media hacks, political confederates, and even family members – to order his shock troops to stand down. Particularly when he fails to do so even after frantic and frightened allies implore him. And with respect to that, Greene was lying about Trump quelling his cult disciples. The insurrection went on for three terrifying hours before Trump issued a statement wherein he told the rioters that he loved them.

In the same program, Carlson had his own take on his Fox News colleagues:

“These are principled people. What they say in public is not that far from what they say over text message. If you get a text from Brian Kilmeade it sounds pretty much identical to Brian Kilmeade on Fox and Friends. These are not phonies. We can personally confirm that. Whether you like them or not, they’re real.”

Well then, if Carlson can “personally confirm” that his fellow Foxies aren’t phonies, that’s good enough for – practically nobody. After all, Fox News successfully defended Carlson against a defamation lawsuit arguing that no reasonable person would believe anything he says. And no one has lied more about insurrection that Carlson, who produced a crocumentary wherein he charged that the whole sordid affair was a “false flag” operation orchestrated by the “Deep State.”

More to the point, Carlson is generously spreading the manure around. The reason the Trump/Meadows texts are such big news is that they expose the Fox News hosts for contradicting themselves. They acknowledged that there was a violent assault on Congress on January 6th, but later claimed the rioters were all patriots, but if they weren’t, there was no violence, but if there was it was all Antifa’s fault.

The central feature of their gaslighting is that they are trying to claim that their critics have a problem with texts seeking to get Trump to take action. That’s not true. Those texts were the one thing that the GOP and Fox Newsers got right. The problem is that they ended up dismissing their own concerns about the violence and flagrantly lied about it ever since. Which is exactly what they are doing now as well.

Did Chris Wallace Ditch Fox News Because of Tucker Carlson and Other Extremist Dirtbags?

At the end of this week’s episode of Fox News Sunday, host Chris Wallace announced that this broadcast would be his last. It was an unusually abrupt notice of an exit from an enterprise that he’s been with for eighteen years. Ordinarily, planned separations provide several weeks of notice to give both the company and the viewers time to absorb and adjust to the news.

Fox News, Chris Wallace

So what would prompt this surprise departure from one of the longest serving Fox News personalities? Wallace didn’t give any clues in his announcement. He said merely that…

“…after 18 years, I have decided to leave Fox. I want to try something new, to go beyond politics to all the things I’m interested in. I’m ready for a new adventure.”

Wallace didn’t say what form that adventure might take or where he might be headed. There is some speculation that he could join CNN+, the network’s soon to be launched streaming service. And while Fox News hasn’t had the time to consider replacements for Wallace, the early money is probably on Bret Baier. That is if Sean Hannity and Tucker Carlson don’t pull rank over the weak-kneed Fox News executives who cower before them.

Speaking of Tucker Carlson, there are good reasons to suspect that he might have given Wallace a shove out the door. Wallace has been critical of Carlson’s ultra-extremist ravings of late. After the airing of Carlson’s false flag crocumentary, “Patriot Purge,” Wallace complained to Fox News executives, Suzanne Scott, Fox News Media CEO, and Jay Wallace, President of News. Wallace was also said to be troubled by Lara Logan’s nauseating comparison of Dr. Anthony Fauci to Nazi doctor Josef Mengele. Some other indications that Wallace and Fox News may not have been a good fit going forward…

In his farewell message Wallace recounted the changes in the media during his years at Fox News. “When I started in this business 50 years ago,” Wallace recalled, “being fair was the basic job requirement to keep you from being fired. And the idea that I stand out now because I’m fair, I think is a kind of sad commentary on the state of journalism.” Wallace isn’t being explicit in this criticism, but it is unambiguously a critique of the sort of bias that is integral to Fox News and its super-partisan editorial mission.

The landscape of cable news is changing significantly. In addition to Wallace exiting Fox News, the network has another open primetime weekday slot at 7:00pm. Brian Williams has left MSNBC. Chris Cuomo is out at CNN. And next year Rachel Maddow will be downsizing her weekday presence on MSNBC.

There is no way to predict what MSNBC and CNN will do with their roster. But we can rest assured that Fox News will become even more radically right-wing, because that’s what they’ve done with every other recent schedule opening. And with the midterm elections next year, they are sure to dig in. We could see (GASP) Jesse Watters, or Maria Bartiromo, or Peter Doocy, or Kayleigh McEnany, in the Fox News Sunday anchor chair next year. They might as well just give the job to Trump.

UPDATE: It has been confirmed that Wallace will be joining CNN+ to host a weekday talk show.
