OF COURSE: Fox News Blames Obama for ‘Missing Huge Opportunity’ to Leave Afghanistan

President Biden’s determination that the twenty year long Afghanistan war would not be handed down to another American president is a goal that the vast majority of the American people agree with. In fact, before Biden took on the task, Republicans, including Donald Trump, agreed with it.

Obama Fox News

This was never going to be a easy job, and the difficulties inherent in such an operation were tragically borne out when an ISIS terrorist took the lives of 13 American soldiers and an estimated 150 Afghan civilians. Nevertheless, Biden’s team orchestrated the largest personnel airlift in history, evacuating more than 100,000 people in less than a month. All the while Trump was slandering Biden for achieving an objective for which Trump had notoriously failed.

Naturally, Fox News couldn’t stand by and witness this unprecedented evacuation without finding some way of maligning Biden and the U.S. military, and turning the whole affair into propaganda piece for Trump and his Republican Party. Some of the attacks were vicious and bizarre, such as their attempt to blame First Lady Jill Biden for what they portrayed as a “debacle”. That ludicrous shifting of responsibility brought only ridicule to Fox News.

Undeterred, Fox News has now focused on a new culprit whom they can pin this thing on: Former President Barack Obama. Because whenever there is any problem that might reflect badly on the right-wing beneficiaries of Fox’s bullshittery, they resort to their old standby: Blame the Black guy. Thus we have a story on the Fox News website headlined, “Obama missed huge opportunity to get out of Afghanistan, general says.”

The article accuses Obama of having missed the opportunity to exit Afghanistan following the termination of Al Qaeda leader, Osama Bin Laden. The assumption being that with Bin Laden’s death there was no more terrorist threat at all. But even if there were some truth to the suggestion that Obama could have withdrawn U.S. troops at that time, Fox News wasn’t just faulting him for letting that opportunity slip away. They went even further charging that by not leaving then, he was “thus extending U.S. troops’ time in the country for another 10 years.”

Did you catch that? Fox News is hanging responsibility for the war continuing on Obama, not just for the remainder of his term, but for the entirety of Trump’s term. In Fox World Trump is blameless even though he campaigned on ending the war, but failed to fulfill that promise for four years.

What’s more, the article also hit Biden’s decision to finally take action, saying that it was “a decision that emboldened the Taliban.” Never mind that it was Trump who negotiated the “surrender agreement” with the Taliban, completely leaving out the Afghan government.

It was just a matter of time before Fox News got around to blaming the Black guy. They had already failed to get any traction out of fingering Dr. Jill Biden. And the President was performing too well to continuing pursuing that path. So the next target would have had to have been Hillary Clinton or Obama. Consequently, Hillary might want to prepare for some incoming attacks after the Obama assault proves to be futile.

24 Hours Later, Big Mouth Trump Has Nothing to Say About Biden’s Drone Strike Against ISIS-K

If there is one thing for which Donald Trump has distinguished himself, it’s his interminable compulsion to inject his transparently self-serving, usually incoherent, and always lie-riddled opinion into every discussion on any subject regardless of how ignorant he is on the topic. Which is pretty much every topic. Trump’s mouth is a perpetually gaping hole that excretes waste product at all hours of the day and night.

Donald Trump

So it’s curious to note that Trump has been uncharacteristically silent on one particular subject for the past 24 hours. On Friday, President Biden’s White House announced that the U.S. military had deployed an armed drone to a remote province in Afghanistan where it successfully terminated a high-level ISIS-K operative. This strike was an opening salvo in retaliation for the terrorist bombing that took place at the Kabul airport the day before.

Ever since the airport bombing that took the lives of 13 American service members and an estimated 150 Afghan civilians, Trump has been flinging vicious and unfounded attacks, not at the terrorists, but at Biden and America’s military. He complained that “This is what you get when you have weakness in the White House.” So you have to wonder if he meant that to apply to the 80+ soldiers who were killed while he was occupying the White House.

Trump would not shut up about the tragedy. He pretended to care about the victims, although he has previously insulted fallen soldiers as “losers” and “suckers.” and he callously exploited it to whine some more about having lost the 2020 presidential election. But what he hasn’t done is to acknowledge the military’s achievement in hitting back at the terrorists so quickly and efficiently.

It isn’t that Trump has been busy with other more important matters, like golfing or watching Fox News. On Saturday morning he released four official statements via his spokes-shill, Liz Harrington (whose proxy Trump tweeting is violating Twitter’s rules against circumventing a ban). Each statement was a bitter and flagrantly false anti-Biden outburst:

  • “Biden’s Hostage Crisis of Epic Proportions”
  • “‘They Showed Weakness’: Pompeo Hits Back At Biden, Says Trump Admin Had ‘Conditions-Based’ Withdrawal Plan”
  • “Rep. Ronny Jackson to Newsmax: ‘Bad Things Going to Happen’ on National Security”
  • “Trump says Kabul airport explosion wouldn’t have happened if he were president”
  • “The Presidential Election of 2020—a disgraceful moment in our Country’s history!”

UPDATE: It’s now been 48 hours and still no comment by Trump acknowledging the successful strike against ISIS-K. However, there were more of these rage-tweets (all linking to Rupert Murdoch’s New York Post)…

  • “This debacle has exposed Joe Biden as a failed president”
  • “Afghanistan Reveals All the President’s Weaknesses”
  • “I ran Team Trump’s Afghan withdrawal—Biden’s attempt to blame us is just sad”
  • “In the midst of a White House breakdown: Goodwin”

So Trump had plenty of time to express those derogatory thoughts that serve no purpose other than to bring down America. But he hasn’t had the time or inclination to offer a bit of praise for those who are defending the nation under dangerous circumstances.

Trump is simply a malignant narcissist who is too jealous and emotionally warped to allow Biden to get any credit, even if that means denying well deserved commendations for the hard work and sacrifices of American heroes. But then that’s “what you get when you have weakness” in a treasonous, lying, twice-impeached, former TV game show host, who still has authoritarian aspirations.

Consciousness of Guilt? GOP Trump-Fluffer Seeks to Obstruct January 6th Insurrection Probe

Nearly eight months ago a crazed horde of hostile Donald Trump cult disciples invaded the United States Congress in an attempt to block the constitutionally mandated certification of Joe Biden’s election. They broke windows, battered down doors, and assaulted police officers, while chanting threats to kill House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and hang Vice-President Mike Pence.

Donald Trump Insurrection

Pelosi gave Republicans an opportunity to support an independent investigation of the January 6th insurrection, but they stubbornly refused. Pelosi then set up a House Select Committee that Republican minority leader Kevin McCarthy also declined to participate in. McCarthy threw a tantrum when Pelosi nixed two of his proposed Committee members, Jim Jordan and Jim Banks, due to their support for, and personal connections to, some of the insurrectionists. Those connections created the potential that they could be called as a witnesses themselves.

As the Committee prepares its investigation, it sought documents related to the events of January 6th and any communications between the insurrectionists and persons in government positions, including the White House, cabinet departments, and members of Congress. That, of course, might include Rep. Jim Banks (R-QAnon).

In what appears to be a pre-emptive move to prevent the disclosure of activities that could implicate him in crimes, Banks fired off a letter to Committee Chairman Bennie Thompson making the specious argument that it was improper to request the materials being collected. Banks also sent the letter to the general counsels of AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon.

“One House Republican is gearing up to fight an effort from the committee probing the Jan. 6 Capitol attack to collect the communications of members of Congress.

“The pushback from Rep. Jim Banks (R-Ind.) comes after committee Chairman Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) told reporters this week that he plans to ask telecommunications companies to turn over the records of several hundred people, including lawmakers.”

The letter that Banks sent sounds strikingly similar to the pleading of a defense attorney trying to suppress evidence that incriminates his client. Banks gave the telecom companies unsolicited advice saying that “recipients of legislative subpoenas retain their constitutional rights throughout the course of an investigation.” So what we have here is a member of Congress (who does not serve on the committee of jurisdiction) attempting to persuade corporations that possess materials relevant to an investigation to withhold those materials. That’s not suspicious at all, is it?

Banks is taking a page from the playbook of his mentor and messiah, Donald Trump. When Trump heard about the subpoenas by the Committee, he released a statement, via his spokes-shill, Liz Harrington (whose proxy Trump tweeting is violating Twitter’s rules against circumventing a ban), claiming that…

“Executive privilege will be defended, not just on behalf of my Administration and the Patriots who worked beside me, but on behalf of the Office of the President of the United States and the future of our Nation.”

You have to wonder if it’s the result of Trump’s narcissism, ignorance, or dementia that causes him to believe that he still has the power to invoke executive privilege.

Finally, it should be noted that the letter Banks sent was probably written in consultation with his communications director, Buckley Carlson. Buckley is the son of Fox News ranter, Tucker Carlson, who last month viciously slandered one of the police officers who heroically defended the Capitol on January 6th.

Banks has proven that Pelosi was right to block him from the Committee. His extremist views show that he would not have been interested in an honest investigation, but rather only in protecting Trump and defending his “Big Lie” that the 2020 presidential election was “stolen” from him. The very lie that Trump used to incite the insurrectionist riots in Washington, D.C. in the first place.

NY Post Newshound Chews Out Psaki Over the Biting Controversy of Biden’s Dog, Major

The United States is currently facing some serious challenges. First and foremost is the ongoing COVID pandemic that is surging among the vaccine resistant Trump supporters and Fox News viewers. There are also crucial legislative matters pending concerning infrastructure investment and voting rights. And President Biden’s commitment to ending the war in Afghanistan has encountered some tragic obstacles that Trump and the GOP aren’t shy about exploiting for political purposes.

Rex, the Hero Dog

Consequently, it’s encouraging when a real journalist has the courage to chow down on the issues that truly impact the lives of the American people. Which is exactly what the New York Post’s Steven Nelson did at Friday’s White House press briefing (video below). Not wanting to be just another lapdog in the press corps, Nelson took a bite out of press secretary Jen Psaki as she attempted to chase away the day’s most critical questions with distracting “treats” about war and viral diseases. When he was recognized by Psaki Nelson muttered that…

“Yesterday the conservative transparency group Judicial Watch released Secret Service records on dog bites involving the First Dog, Major. One email said that the Secret Service agents were bitten every single day for eight days from March 1st to March 8th, and that White House visitor was as well. At a March 9th briefing, you only described one biting incident to us, and described the dogs as being whisked back to Delaware on a preplanned trip to his family friends.

“Obviously, that is not the world’s most important story, but it is significant because we expect honest information even for minor stories. So can you explain to us why there was kind of a misleading account presented to us? And if we can’t get honest information about minor stories, why should we have faith in the administration’s account for larger issues like Afghanistan?”

Indeed! Whether it’s Afghans or German Shepherds or Russian Sheep Dogs, the people must be told the truth. Some observers might think that Nelson was just bitching about an old story that has been a pet project of his for a long time. Or they may regard his howling as typical for a newspaper that is of the same breed as Fox News (i.e. fox terriers). But the American people will not roll over for government officials who bury the bones of important stories in the Rose Garden. Which is why Psaki’s response was so critical:

“I know you do keep the dog in the news in the briefing room, so thank you for that. As we’ve stated previously. Major has had some challenges adjusting to life in the White House. He has been receiving additional training, as well as spending some time in Delaware where the environment is more familiar to him and he is more comfortable. I don’t have any additional specifics, but I think that speaks to where Major is located to be fully transparent in your ongoing interest in the dog.

Hopefully, this will satisfy Nelson and the rest of the media watch dogs, and they will stop hounding the White House. Major, like any other presidential family member, is not a public figure and deserves to have his privacy respected. And one thing that the nation doesn’t need right now is another “wag the dog” melodrama.

Trump Exploits the Terrorist Attack in Afghanistan to Whine About Losing the 2020 Election

In the wake of the tragic terrorist attack in Afghanistan, Republicans wasted no time engaging in rank politicization of the loss of life and wantonly blaming President Biden. This despite the overwhelming evidence that Donald Trump bears the most responsibility due to his having negotiated a “surrender agreement” with the Taliban (according to his own National Security Advisor), and his lethal failure to plan for the withdrawal.

Donald Trump, Snake Tongue

For his part, Trump is behaving predictably as he frantically absolves himself of any responsibility, baselessly castigates his critics, and incoherently rambles from subject to subject in an effort to land on something that he thinks casts him in a favorable light.

Trump’s most recent babbling in this regard took an especially rancid turn as he conflated the casualties in Afghanistan with his “Big Lie” rhetoric about the 2020 presidential election having been “stolen” from him. In a tweeted statement by his spokes-shill, Liz Harrington (whose proxy Trump tweeting is violating Twitter’s rules against circumventing a ban), Trump ranted that…

“If the Democrats could fight wars as well as they execute Election Fraud, we would have obliterated all of our many enemies throughout the World, and would have nothing to worry about!”

Really? First of all, Trump is sort of complimenting Democrats with his admission that they outsmarted him by decisively defeating him the 2020 election. Although outsmarting Trump isn’t a particularly high bar to get over. But worse, Trump is noxiously exploiting a human tragedy in order to continue propagating the same proven lies about election fraud that led to the deadly January 6th insurrection in Washington, D.C.

What’s more, Trump is accusing Biden and the Democrats of failing to “win” the war in Afghanistan after being in office for only seven months. If that’s a failure on Biden’s part, what does it mean that Trump had four years during which he could have “obliterated all of our many enemies throughout the World,” but failed to either achieve victory or to complete a withdrawal?

On at least three occasions in the past two days Trump has made made similarly repulsive remarks. He told radio right-winger Hugh Hewitt that Democrats “used COVID in order to cheat, cause they cheat fantastically. If they could fight wars like they cheat in election, we would have had that war won in one day.” And he released a pure propaganda video on Sean Hannity’s Fox News program wherein he exalted himself saying that “This tragedy should never have taken place. It should never have happened. and it would not have happened if I were your president.”

Trump’s assertions that the world would have been a peaceful utopia had the American people reelected him is an absurdity borne out by actual facts. Not only were 80 service members killed in Afghanistan on Trump’s watch (most of which he callously ignored), but there were multiple attacks on military bases in the United States, resulting in 12 fatalities. Trump has also conveniently forgotten the terrorist attack by ISIS in New York City that killed eight civilians.

By using the deaths of American soldiers to regurgitate his election fraud conspiracy theories, Trump is affirming his unfitness for any office of public service. He is disqualifying himself from inclusion in civil society. And he is putting his well known narcissism, indecency, and inhumanity on public display. But then again, what else would you expect from Trump and his Republican Party?

After Terrorist Attack, Peter Doocy of Fox News Asks Biden if He ‘Bears Any Responsibility’

As the U.S. involvement in the war in Afghanistan winds down, the risks that were anticipated are unfolding in tragic ways. On Thursday a terrorist suicide bomber killed scores of people assembled at the gates of the airport in Kabul. Twelve of them were American soldiers. It was the deadliest day for the U.S. military in Afghanistan in years.

Fox News, Peter Doocy

President Biden addressed the American people from the White House to pay tribute to the deceased heroes, to assure the terrorists that they will pay a steep price, and to comfort a grieving nation.

Biden then took questions from the press. Many of the questions were relevant and produced useful information. However, one question was brazenly slanted and intended only to assign blame at a time when the nation was more focused securing those in danger and apprehending the perpetrators. That question was asked by Peter Doocy of Fox News, of course:

Doocy: Mr. President, there had not been a U.S. service member killed in combat in Afghanistan since February of 2020. You set a deadline. You pulled troops out. You sent troops back in. And now twelve Marines are dead. You said the buck stops with you. Do you bear any responsibility for the way things have unfolded in the past two weeks?
Biden: I bear responsibility for fundamentally all that’s happened of late. But here’s the deal: You know – I wish you one day say these things – you know as well as I do that the former president made a deal with the Taliban that we would get all American forces out of Afghanistan by May 1. In return the commitment was made – that was the year before – in return he was given the commitment that the Taliban would continue to attack others, but would not attack any American forces. Remember that?

To his credit, Biden showed the integrity to accept full responsibility for the somber duties he performs as Commander in Chief. Doocy’s attempt to make this all about some facile form of guilt was intended to malign the President. It didn’t work.

To the contrary, Biden flipped the question back on Doocy, asking him to recall that it was Donald Trump who made the deal with the Taliban to remove all American forces by May 1st – four months sooner – in exchange for lifting all sanctions and freeing 5,000 of their imprisoned fighters. That’s a deal that Trump’s own National Security Advisor called a surrender agreement.”

Trump never had a plan to end the war or evacuate Americans and Afghan allies. That’s a failing that was pointed out on Wednesday in response to yet another ill-advised question by Doocy. And as tensions mount, Fox News seems to be having trouble fulfilling their mission to undermine Democrats in government service. They even had a reporter chastise Republicans for leaping in front of the terrorist bombing story for their own selfish political advantage.

Doocy’s efforts to politicize and trivialize the painful loss of life in Afghanistan is typical for Fox News. No story has any significance to them unless it can be exploited to hurt Democrats. Which is why Doocy and his handlers composed their question as a club with which to beat up on Biden. The only problem is that they are just so bad at it that it rarely, if ever, works.

Fox News Reporter Scolds GOP for It’s Knee-Jerk Attack on Biden After Afghanistan Terrorism

From the moment that President Biden affirmed his commitment to finally end the twenty year long war in Afghanistan, Republicans and their Ministry of Propaganda (aka Fox News) have been launching utterly baseless attacks on Biden, Democrats, and the military that is struggling to save the lives of Americans in Afghanistan and their Afghan allies.

Joe Biden, Donald Trump Baby, Fake News

The robotic response by GOP partisans is to be expected. Their penchant for putting party before country is inbred into their political psyche. And they are devoted to tearing down America’s leadership in the White House and the Pentagon whenever a Democrat is charge. It is the same predictable hostility to the best interests of the nation that Donald Trump displays, despite the fact that he is largely responsible for the situation the country finds itself in today.

That said, there was a hell-freezes-over moment on Fox News Thursday morning when they were reporting on a terrorist bombing near the Afghanistan airport. Correspondent Jennifer Griffin was apparently fed up with the flood of self-serving Republican criticisms flooding the airwaves that cast Biden as being at fault for the terrorist assault. And she let them know it:

“The Pentagon and the White House knew that it was a dangerous mission. But right now it’s not a time for congressman and people on the Hill saying ‘woulda, coulda, shoulda.’ It’s now time to look at the reality.

“The reality is that they got 100,000 Afghan evacuees out since August 14th. They are still trying to rescue Americans who are trapped outside of the airport. There are active measures in place and what I have seen behind the scenes here at the Pentagon and with military sources in Afghanistan is nothing short of heroic.”

https://youtu.be/L2PAJNZxjwU

That’s an uncharacteristically accurate summation of current events in Afghanistan. And accuracy is not something that Fox News generally aims for. But Biden’s management of the evacuation, while not perfect, has succeeded in accomplishing the largest airlift in history in a remarkably short time span. And it is continuing even under these trying circumstances.

The risks were not unknown prior to Thursday’s bombing. In fact, the U.S. State Department had been issuing warnings to Americans for days. The most recent alert was put out just the day before warning that…

“Due to threats outside the Kabul airport, US citizens should avoid traveling to the airport and avoid airport gates unless you receive instructions to do so. Those at the Abbey Gate, East Gate, or North Gate now should leave immediately.”

This attention to conditions on the ground very likely saved lives. Meanwhile, Cadet Bone Spurs (aka Donald Trump) was busy dictating his alt-tweets to his spokes-shill, Liz Harrington (whose proxy Trump tweeting is violating Twitter’s rules against circumventing a ban). Trump’s message on this grim occasion was that “If [Democrats] could fight wars like they cheat in elections, we would win in one day.”

So Trump is exploiting a tragedy in order to continue propagating his “Big Lie” that the 2020 presidential election was “stolen” from him. But what Trump surely doesn’t know is that his infantile whining is an epic self own. Trump thinks that Biden and the Democrats are to be faulted for failing to “win” the war in Afghanistan after being in office for only seven months. Trump had four years to do it and failed to either claim victory (“in one day”) or to complete a withdrawal.

Trump also gave Democrats a backhanded compliment with his admission that they outsmarted him by beating him in the 2020 election. Although outsmarting Trump isn’t a particularly high bar to get over. And now he has even lost at least one Fox News reporter who recognizes that taking advantage of tragedy is not only bad optics, it’s a display of gross indecency and inhumanity. Which is pretty much what we expect from Trump and his Republican Party.

DISBAR THE KRAKEN: Trump Affiliated Lawyers Have Been Sanctioned For ‘Frivolous’ Filings

Ever since Donald Trump was decisively defeated in the 2020 presidential election by Joe Biden, he has been obsessed with propagating the “Big Lie” that the election was “rigged” and “stolen” from him. It’s a dangerous and flagrant falsehood that undermines the people’s faith in American democracy and resulted in the deadly January 6th insurrection in Washington, D.C.

Donald Trump, Prison

On Wednesday there were finally some consequences for a few of Trump’s co-conspirators. Politico is reporting that several of the attorneys that worked on Trump’s behalf to disseminate lies about election fraud were dealt a legal blow:

“A federal judge on Wednesday imposed sanctions on Sidney Powell, Lin Wood and seven other pro-Trump lawyers in a strongly worded denouncement of what the court called a frivolous election fraud lawsuit.

“U.S. District Court Judge Linda Parker found that Powell and her colleagues involved in the case, which sought to make former President Donald Trump Michigan’s official 2020 presidential pick, ‘filed this lawsuit in bad faith and for improper purpose.'”

The judge went on to reprimand the lawyers for presenting “pleadings that were not ‘warranted by existing law or by a nonfrivolous argument for extending, modifying, or reversing existing law or establishing new law.’” She said that they “contained factual contentions lacking evidentiary support.”

But that’s not all. The judge further noted that “the deficiencies in the pleadings [claim violations of election law} without a thorough understanding of what the law requires, and the number of failed election-challenge lawsuits that Plaintiffs’ attorneys have filed.”

The judge’s opinion concluded by recommending “that the bar associations for each respective attorney investigate them for potential suspension or disbarment, noting that their involvement in the litigation showed they were unfit to practice law.”

This is just the latest humiliating episode in the long-running melodrama of Trump’s legal tribulations. His personal attorney, Michael Cohen, pleaded guilty for his role on the payoff to Trump’s mistress, adult film star Stormy Daniels, and for lying to the Senate. Then Rudy Giuliani had his license suspended in both New York and Washington, D.C. Trump’s representatives lost more than sixty court cases due to failing to provide a shred of evidence supporting their election fraud allegations.

Now these clowns have been sanctioned and face possible disbarment. And yet, somehow Trump will go on whining about the “Crime of the Century” until his turn to be held accountable comes up. He is presently being investigated in New York, Washington, and Georgia, for criminal election tampering, intimidation, and abuse of power. And the rulings against this batch of his legal team will only serve to darken his future prospects for avoiding the consequences of his crimes.

SRSLY? Kayleigh McEnany Tells Fox News There Were No Crises When Trump Was President

The commitment by Fox News to gaslight America is among the most conspicuously dishonest campaigns of flagrant falsehoods ever contrived by an alleged “news” enterprise. Their relentless avalanche of lies and shameless promotion of liars is Olympian in its scale and ambition.

Kayleigh McEnany

The most recent evidence of Fox’s fantastical fib factory came on Tuesday evening when Donald Trump’s former press secretary (now employed by Fox News), Kayleigh McEnany, guest co-hosted on The Five and participated in a discussion about President Biden’s first few months in office. Her preposterous remarks were an exhibition of either her utter aversion to truth-telling, or stage 4 acute amnesia. She babbled that…

“We are eight months into a Biden presidency. Jesse. Wrap your head around that. We still have three years and four months left. Look, when President Trump was President, you didn’t see crisis after crisis. You just didn’t see it.”

What the Holy F**k? Even after four years of unabashed lying by Trump – who set an unchallengeable record of more than 30,000 lies – it is still startling to hear such malignant mendacity coming out of even a professional deceiver’s mouth.

The reality of the crisis-stained Trump administration is so thoroughly contrary that it’s hard to believe that McEnany could allow those words to escape her perfidious piehole. What follows is a necessarily abridged archive of Trump’s catastrophes:

  • Led about inauguration crowd size
  • Fired National Security Advisor, Michael Flynn, for lying to the FBI and VP
  • Fired Secretary of State Rex Tillerson
  • Fired Attorney General Jeff Sessions
  • Fired FBI Director James Comey
  • Fired Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci
  • Fired … Oh look them up yourself. There’s way to many to list here
  • The Mueller Report that led to 34 indictments, and 10 incidents of obstruction of justice
  • Paid off (and lied about) Stormy Daniels
  • The longest government shutdown in American history
  • Disclosed classified material to Russian ambassador
  • Sided with Vladimir Putin against American intelligence
  • Abandoned nuclear pact with Iran
  • Got laughed at by the entire United Nations
  • Fell “in love” with North Korean dictator, Kim Jung Un
  • Very fine people on both sides at Nazi-attended rally
  • Separated babies from their parents and warehoused children in cages
  • Covered for Saudi murderers of Washington Post journalist
  • Praised QAnon
  • Exits Paris Accords on Climate Change
  • Pardoned accomplices Roger Stone, Paul Manafort, Michael Flynn, Steve Bannon, etc.
  • Tear gassed protesters for a photo-op at a church
  • Multiple allegations of sexual harassment and assault
  • Jeffrey Epstein
  • Wasted billions on a useless border wall that Mexico didn’t pay for.
  • And Most Notably…

  • Was impeached twice
  • Preside over half a million deaths due to COVID pandemic
  • Incited deadly insurrection

And that’s only a partial list. Meanwhile, Joe Biden has…

  • Delivered thousands of dollars to millions of Americans suffering from the pandemic that Trump neglected
  • Reversed dozens of Trump’s anti-environmental executive orders
  • Restored Obamacare to the state prior to Trump’s sabotage of it
  • Rejoined the Paris Climate Accords and the World Health Organization
  • Lead an economy to record growth and historically low unemployment
  • Advocates for workers rights and a higher minimum wage
  • Investing in infrastructure and Building Back Better for American families and businesses
  • Pushing legislation for voting rights
  • Managed the effort to get 70% of American adults vaccinated

And Biden is currently getting the U.S. out of the twenty year long Afghanistan war that Trump fumbled so badly. Yet somehow, to McEnany and Fox News, it’s Biden who is burdened with crises? Put down the pipe Kayleigh.

Trump’s Plan for Afghanistan Was to Abandon Our Troops and Allies, Psaki Reveals His Lies

One of the problems that Joe Biden inherited from his predecessors when he became President was the two decades long war in Afghanistan. And he made it clear that he was determined to make certain that it wasn’t handed down to another president.

Jen Psaki, Donald Trump

Biden’s goal was strewn with obstacles placed in his path by Donald Trump, whose abysmal deal with the Taliban has been lambasted by his own National Security Advisor as a surrender agreement,” that lifted all sanctions on the Taliban and freed 5,000 of their imprisoned fighters, including their leader.

Not one to be deterred by reality, Trump is still hammering away at Biden with blatantly dishonest representations of the situation now unfolding in Afghanistan. He released a statement on Tuesday via his spokes-shill, Liz Harrington (whose proxy Trump tweeting is violating Twitter’s rules against circumventing a ban), that sound more like a madman on a street corner yelling at passing cars than a diplomat:

“Biden surrendered Afghanistan to terrorists and left thousands of Americans for dead by pulling out the Military before our citizens. Now we are learning that out of the 26,000 people who have been evacuated, only 4,000 are Americans. You can be sure the Taliban, who are now in complete control, didn’t allow the best and brightest to board these evacuation flights. Instead, we can only imagine how many thousands of terrorists have been airlifted out of Afghanistan and into neighborhoods around the world. What a terrible failure. NO VETTING. How many terrorists will Joe Biden bring to America? We don’t know!”

There’s a lot to unpack in that hysterical harangue. Starting at the top, Biden did not surrender to terrorists. That was Trump. And Biden has not left a single American for dead, much less thousands. Trump appears to have ingested some powerful hallucinogens.

Moving on, Trump is surprised that 26,000 of the evacuees were Afghans. He apparently doesn’t know that there are far more Afghans in Afghanistan than Americans. He also doesn’t seem to know that thousands of them served our troops loyally and bravely and deserve to be rescued from a dire fate at the hands of the Taliban. Trump is actually repeating the very same racist lines that he previously used on Mexican refugees, implying that they are all criminals being “sent” to America by wily foreign governments.

What’s more, Trump is outright lying (surprise) about whether these Afghans are vetted before being evacuated. This question was raised at the White House daily press briefing by Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy. Which gave press secretary Jen Psaki yet another opportunity to publicly humiliate him. Doocy asked a loaded question suggesting that there are suspected terrorists among the evacuees. Psaki replied saying that…

“We have a stringent vetting process, which includes background checks before any individual comes to the United States. So I can’t speak to one individual, but I can tell you and confirm for you that we take the vetting of any individual who comes to the United States and comes out incredibly seriously and it’s an extensive process.

“I would say that this is now on track, Peter, to be the largest airlift in US history. And that is bringing American citizens out. It is bringing our Afghan partners out. It is bringing allies out. So, no, I would not say that is anything but a success.”

Doocy, masochist that he is, persisted with another question suggesting that because Biden is hoping to stick to the August 31 date for the withdrawal to be completed, that the Taliban had “the same kind of influence over military planning as the Commander in Chief?” And once again, Psaki had to set him straight:

“Well, first of all Peter, the Taliban’s deadline was May 1st, struck in a deal with the prior administration. The President’s timeline was August 31st. That’s the timeline he set, and a period of time he needed in order to operationalize our departure from Afghanistan.”

Anyone who had even a glancing knowledge of these matters knew that the Taliban and Trump had agreed to a May 1st exit date. So it’s just a demonstration of his ignorance that Doocy didn’t know that the August 31 date was Biden’s decision, not the Taliban’s. And Biden is reserving the option to extend that date if conditions on the ground require it. The Taliban has no role in that decision making process.

It’s clear from Trump’s remarks that his plan was to leave behind both Americans and Afghans. He had not initiated any operations to evacuate anyone prior to his evacuation from the White House, even though there were only three months between his exit and May 1st. That may have been his purposeful attempt to hamstring Biden, or it may have just been his incompetence and negligence.

Either way, Trump has no right to complain about how things are turning out. Just the fact that the Biden team has evacuated 70,000 people since August 14 is a testament to what competent leadership can achieve. And he did it while also dealing with a surging pandemic (also Trump’s fault) and a busy legislative agenda that included bills to provide relief payments to the American people, a historic investment in infrastructure, and an effort to preserve voting rights.
