Vaccine Truthers at Fox News Say FDA Approval Was a Distraction From Afghanistan

The relentless determination of Fox News to propagate phony stories and contrived outrage can really be rather impressive at times. And on Tuesday morning America’s foremost right-wing propaganda source pulled a twofer, slandering President Biden and the COVID vaccine in one dangerously dishonest segment.

Fox News, Covid

On Monday the FDA announced that it was giving a full approval of the Pfizer vaccine as a safe and effective means of preventing infection and transmission of the coronavirus. It took only minutes before Fox News was trashing the FDA and its motives. They asserted that the approval was rushed in the same segment in which they also asked “What took so long.”

On Tuesday morning the “Curvy Couch” potatoes at Fox and Friends called in their medical contributor, Dr. Marty Makary, to comment on matters for which he had no qualifications. He was asked by co-host Brian Kilmeade about what he claimed was suspect timing for the FDA approval. Whereupon Makary accused the Biden administration of using the announcement of the FDA’s full approval of the COVID vaccine as a distraction from critical stories about the Afghanistan withdrawal (video below):

“Three days after the viral video [of the Afghan airport] the FDA is going to approve the vaccine after sitting on it for nine months.”

Makary, of course, has no expertise in either media analysis or military strategies. But that didn’t stop him from questioning the FDA’s action. Nor did the same ignorance on Kilmeade’s part prevent him from implying that the FDA’s decision – that Makary said was held for nine months – was too rushed, and then issued for political purposes:

“All of a sudden, out of nowhere, the FDA is going to give full approval to the Pfizer vaccine. And then that becomes a leak, and that becomes an announcement. Do you believe the timing is curious? […] They make people doubt, because they look at this timing and they say wait a second, does it really get full FDA approval? Do we really need a booster shot? What are we worried about?

The one constant in all of the COVID coverage by Fox News is to trivialize the pandemic, disparage the vaccine, and frighten their audience away from partaking in it. Tucker Carlson has claimed outright that it doesn’t work and that the authorities are hiding that “fact” from you. And Donald Trump told his cult rally that it was just a money making operation.” Meanwhile, Fox peddles toxic snake oil cures like the horse dewormer, Ivermectin.

Then there is the charge that the FDA was participating in a White House plot to deflect from news about Afghanistan. Makary and Kilmeade had zero evidence of any such scheme or any explanation for why the independent FDA would go along with it. It was purely floated to malign the FDA, the vaccine, and the Biden administration’s kept promise to finally end the twenty year long war. Although it might be an improvement over their previous attack on First Lady Jill Biden as being at fault for everything.

In the end, Fox News is going to cause more suffering and grieving as a result of their pro-COVID propaganda. Simultaneously, they will disinform their viewers about the progress of the Afghanistan withdrawal, while inciting more racist responses to the arrival of Afghani refugees who helped American troops for the past couple of decades. Fox News doesn’t care about any of these adverse and anti-American consequences, or the harm to human lives. Because the only thing they care about is their Republican power grab, and advancing their ultra-rightist agenda. And

Fox News and Right-Wingers Are Already Trashing the FDA Approval of the COVID Vaccine

For months the vaccine resisters of America have been rejecting any consideration of getting the shot that science has established will prevent severe illness and death due to the COVID pandemic. Their doubts rested partly on the fact that it had only been given an “Emergency Use Authorization” by the FDA. To Donald Trump’s cult followers and Fox News devotees that meant that the vaccine wasn’t safe and its promoters were charlatans seeking some sort of population control or other nefarious objective. Trump himself ranted that the vaccine booster shots were a “money making operation” and not needed.

Fox News, Vaccine

On Monday morning the FDA announced that it had given its full approval to the Pfizer vaccine. That news will result in many public and private enterprises advancing their efforts to get more people vaccinated. Many unvaccinated persons have indicated that this approval would resolve their concerns and lead to them finally getting the shot.

Unfortunately, the most vaccine averse among us may still be opposed to this simple, common solution to a lethal problem. These are the same dimwits who have to be told not to take horse dewormers to cure COVID. And they have already begun to disparage the FDA approval that they had previously insisted they were waiting for. That disparagement was seen early by none other than Fox News, of course. They introduced a panel discussion about the FDA’s announcement by questioning the integrity of the institution and it’s processes:

“FDA just giving full approval to Pfizer’s COVID vaccine, it’s the first vaccine to get that full approval and in record time too, that has critics asking if the process was rushed. Was it?”

The critics to whom Fox’s Dana Perino was referring are most likely her colleagues like Tucker Carlson, who preaches the paranoid conspiracy theory that vaccines don’t work and “they” aren’t telling you. She may also be referring to Trump’s former trade advisor, Peter Navarro, who tweeted that…

“This is what caving to political pressure looks like. Pfizer vaccine is leady and non-durable and risks are mounting. If we had tried to pulled this kind of sh**T in the Trump White…fill in blank. F.D.A. Grants Full Approval”

Setting aside Navarro’s difficulties with the English language, it is notable that his credentials are in economics, not medicine. And judging by his disastrous tenure with the Trump administration, his economic advice is nothing to brag about either.

Also weighing in is America’s foremost conspiracy crackpot, Alex Jones. The Infowars host and dubious vitamin supplement peddler is distancing himself from Trump on the matter of vaccines. On Saturday Trump told those attending his travelling salvation show that they should get vaccinated. Although he tempered that suggestion by assuring them that they have the right to refuse. Which is another way of saying that they have the right to remain more vulnerable to sickness and death for them and those with whom they come in contact.

Jones objected to this stance on Trump’s part. He accused Trump of caving in to the mainstream media saying that he “clicks his heels and hops up there to attention” whenever NBCUniversal CEO Jeff Zucker and/or CNN snaps their fingers. Then Jones concluded saying…

“Shame on you Trump. Seriously. Hey, if you don’t have the good sense to save yourself and your political career, that’s OK. At least you’re gonna get some good Republicans elected and we like you. But my god, maybe you’re not that bright. Maybe Trump’s actually a dumbass.”

Uh-oh. How will Trump respond to his pal Jones calling him a “dumbass”? Furthermore, how will Trump respond to getting booed by his own disciples when he advocated for getting vaccinated? In all likelihood, the answer is the same for both. Trump will bend to whatever position gets him the most adulation and increases donations.

Trump’s motivations are entirely driven by his narcissism and greed. In his cloistered world, nothing else matters. And despite the FDA’s full approval of the Pfizer vaccine, Trump will undoubtedly rush to support those who are denigrating the vaccine and the FDA. Because his personal and political goals will always take precedence over saving lives and preserving the physical, financial, and emotional well being of the American people.

The Taliban Bureau of Fox News Condemns Democrats for the Mortal Sin of Dancing

Twenty years ago a group of religious extremists committed a terrorist act that brought down the World Center towers in New York City. Ever since then the right-wing Republican Party has regarded all Muslims as responsible. And one of the consequences was an overtly bigoted crusade of fear mongering over a manufactured threat of Sharia law taking over the in United States.

Fox News, Taliban

Of course, that was just a deliberate attempt by the GOP to inflame an irrational hatred of Muslims in order to stir up division for political purposes. However, it’s an ironic tactic considering the devotion that Republicans have for imposing their radical, evangelical, Christianist beliefs on all Americans by passing laws with a religious focus on matters concerning abortion, school prayer, medical research, the teaching of evolution and climate change, and more.

On Sunday Fox News joined the crusade for “Christria” law in an article on their website with the alarming headline “Schumer, Pelosi panned for dancing with Stephen Colbert, Napa fundraiser with Biden’s presidency under siege.” Apparently it is now verboten to dance according to right-wing doctrine, just as it is under the most conservative sects of Islam.

First of all, the headline needs to be corrected. It falsely accuses of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of participating in the sinful act of gyrating to the devil’s music. It was only Sen. Chuck Schumer who was “spotted dancing backstage with late-night comedian Stephen Colbert during the “We Love NYC: The Homecoming Concert” in Central Park.”

More to the point, the article insinuates that there was something sinister about politicians enjoying themselves while backstage at a music festival. In the view of Fox News there can be no such expressions of celebration while there is any strife anywhere else in the world. And in this case the strife is bizarrely described as “Biden’s presidency under siege,” which is only true to someone who exclusively watches Fox News. Curiously, Fox News wasn’t bothered at all about Donald Trump dancing at his cult rally in Alabama the same day.

What’s more, the headline asserts that the partying pols were “panned.” But the only evidence it provided were predictable criticisms from partisan Republicans, including Sen. Ted Cruz who is best known for jetting off to Cancun, Mexico, during a deadly winter storm in his state of Texas. “Cancun” Cruz, who abandoned his constituents when they were in dire need, tweeted a video of Schumer at a concert held to show appreciation for the citizens, businesses, and first responders of New York City, who persevered through a difficult year. Cruz affirmed his reputation for being a nasty S.O.B. by adding the comment “Celebrating the demise of the Republic…”

The article went on to make preposterous comparisons between the New York concert and the recent motorcycle rally in Sturgis, South Dakota:

“There were reportedly thousands of people at the ‘Homecoming Concert,’ but Democrats and the media made no mention about it being a possible superspreader, as they did with an outdoor event attended by thousands of people in South Dakota just days ago.”

What Fox News left out was that the attendees of the Manhattan concert had to show proof of COVID vaccination to get in, while the Sturgis event not only didn’t require vaccinations or masks, they were openly hostile to them, regarding such common sense, life-saving measures as impositions on their freedom.

So while the right-wing American Taliban is adamant that their “god-given liberties” not be abridged, they continue to clamp down on the liberties of others with oppressive laws and intimidation. And god forbid anyone dares to dance at a music festival celebrating Americans who are emerging from the hardships of pandemic. Because now they must also face the wrath of Fox News.

Fox News Fingers Who is Really at Fault for What’s Happening in Afghanistan: Jill Biden!

The aftermath of President Biden’s decision to proceed with the previously negotiated withdrawal of U.S. forces from Afghanistan has dominated the media for the past week. To be sure, any retreat from failed military operations cannot be expected to be free of difficulty. And there are troubling images of desperate Afghans seeking to escape the anticipated tyranny of Taliban rule.

Fox News, Joe Biden, Jill Biden, Friends

Unfortunately, much of the media coverage has focused on melodramatic moments that lack context. The press as a whole seems to have forgotten what Afghanistan was like prior to the U.S. invasion in 2001. In short, it was pretty much the same then as it will be going forward once the evacuation is complete. No better, no worse, and no discernible benefit from twenty years of occupation. The lesson to be learned is not one about predictable hardships following a lengthy war in hostile territory, but about the futility of waging such wars in the first place.

Not surprisingly, Fox News has taken the most preposterous positions regarding the end of the Afghanistan adventure. They have entirely ignored that the original, severely flawed agreement to leave was negotiated by the Trump administration (which he is still bragging about). That deal has been rebuked by Trump’s own National Security Adviser, General H.R. McMaster, as a surrender agreement.” It lifted all sanctions on the Taliban and freed 5,000 of their imprisoned fighters, but got nothing in return.

What’s more, while Fox News harshly criticizes the Biden administration’s handling of efforts to evacuate Afghans who helped the U.S. during the two decade occupation, they are simultaneously complaining about the prospect of bringing those refugees to America. Tucker Carlson has labeled them “invaders” who are “coming to your neighborhood.”

On Sunday’s episode of Fox and Friends, co-host Rachel Campos-Duffy went to even more bizarre lengths to malign Biden. She began by regurgitating the tedious Fox News trope that Biden is mentally unfit to serve as president (video below):

“I look at this and I think ‘Wow. We had a president who was impeached over a phone call.’ This looks like a much more impeachable offense. If you ask me, I know that’s probably, technically it’s probably not, but when you look at what’s hurting America, when you look at the lack of leadership, and you wonder who are the people responsible for putting someone this incompetent, and frankly this, you know, mentally frail in this position?”

Note that the American people already made their judgment about that by overwhelmingly voting for Biden. And they had previously determined that it was Trump who doesn’t have the mental soundness to serve (according to a Fox News poll, no less). Also, Trump wasn’t impeached “over a phone call.” It was his treasonous effort to pressure the president of Ukraine to interfere in the U.S. election that resulted in the first of his two impeachments.

As for grounds to impeach Biden, Campos-Duffy admits that there aren’t any. (unlike Sen. Lindsey Graham, who is apparently even more ignorant of the Constitution than she is). But her craziness was just getting started.

“Of course the media and many people are saying – you had some people on your show this week who were saying it was Susan Rice and Obama and maybe Valerie Jarrett. I’m sorry, as a political spouse, I can’t help but look at Jill Biden, No one knew better his state of mind than Dr. Jill Biden. And if you ask me, the most patriotic thing Jill Biden could have done was tell her husband – to love her husband and not let him run in this mental state that he’s in. I think she failed the country as well.”

So now it’s all Jill Biden’s fault? Never mind that Campos-Duffy didn’t bother to cite a single example of any behavior by the President that would warrant such concerns. She still managed to place the blame on a woman, and one who is highly accomplished and respected.

However, Campos-Duffy never had any concerns about Melania Trump’s tolerance of her husband’s obvious cognitive deficiencies. After all, Donald Trump believed that stealth fighters are actually invisible, that windmills cause cancer, that we should nuke hurricanes, that George Washington’s Army took over airports, and that injecting bleach will cure COVID.

Melania never said a single word about any of that. Clearly she is not a patriot and is responsible for all of the harm that Trump caused during his four years of non-stop incoherence, ignorance, incompetence, and raging hostility. Is too late to impeach her?

Rachel Maddow Fractures Fox News For Hawking a Horse Dewormer as a COVID Cure

Apparently it wasn’t bad enough that Fox News contributed to tens of thousands of deaths, and even more severe illnesses, by downplaying the severity of the coronavirus as a flu or a hoax. And apparently they weren’t satisfied with the suffering they’ve caused by convincing their glassy-eyed viewers that vaccines either aren’t necessary, or don’t work, or are constraints on their freedom imposed by autocrats intent on enslaving them.

Fox News, Cov-Aid

Fox’s efforts have led to what can now be accurately designated the Pandemic of Fox News.” Their primetime purveyors of pandemic bullpucky are clearly determined to propagate even more pain.

To that end Fox News began prescribing another phony cure for the plague that they’ve been reluctant to admit exists. Despite the potential for having a positive impact on their audience, Fox continues to prove that they just don’t care. Previously they tried hype hydroxychloroquine, an anti-malarial drug for which there is no evidence of efficacy treating COVID, other than the grossly misinformed word of Donald Trump. But now they’ve moved on to Ivermectin, a horse dewormer.

Yes, you read that right. And you aren’t the only one to be stunned by the sheer idiocy of this media quackery. When MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow heard about it she launched into a righteous condemnation of both the reckless advice and the Fox News advisors (video below):

“The Mississippi State Department of Health confirming today that ‘At least 70% of the recent calls to poison control in Mississippi have been related to livestock or animal formulations of Ivermectin, purchased at livestock supply centers.

“Why are people taking livestock formulations of Ivermectin Mississippi? That’s a horse dewormer. Literally, people won’t take the vaccine because they’re super suspicious of that, but they’re taking horse deworming medication that they’re buying at a feed store? For COVID? Why, on top of everything else Mississippi has to deal with right now, why are they dealing with this? I don’t know, but I have a guess.”

Whereupon Maddow plays clips of the three Fox News primetime hosts peddling Ivermectin to their viewers:

Laura Ingraham: We know that our FDA has in many ways failed us by not allowing for the use of Ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine, both of which are used around the world to reduce COVID hospitalizations and death.
Sean Hannity: I pelted them with questions about COVID-19 and the vaccine and therapeutics hydroxychloroquine, Ivermectin … as well as other proactive treatments and practices that are already helping COVID -19 patients all across the country.
Tucker Carlson: On June 5th [Bret] Weinstein discussed the benefits of a drug called Ivermectin, which can and is used around the world to treat and prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Maddow then points out that there has only been one “significant” study connecting Ivermectin to COVID, but that it was withdrawn “because the data in it was apparently faked and the introduction to it was apparently plagiarized.” To date, no one on Fox News has withdrawn their advocacy of the drug. As Maddow noted in her closing…

“Nevertheless, Fox News is busy saying, ‘Don’t take the vaccine, but do take this horse deworming medication, trust us, it is proven.’ You could trust them or you could trust the FDA that says ‘Do not take Ivermectin for COVID.’ Or the NIH that says ‘Do not take Ivermectin for COVID.’ Or the WHO that says ‘Do not take Ivermectin for COVID.’ Even the company that makes the drug that says ‘My god, seriously people. Do not take Ivermectin for COVID.'”

You might think that that would finally be enough for Fox News to step back and retract their potentially lethal “reporting.” If so, you just know Fox News.

Lindsey Graham Exposes His Impeachment Hypocrisies as He Attacks Biden on Fox News

There are few people in American politics who are more obsequious sycophants or shameless hypocrites than South Carolina’s senior senator Lindsey Graham. For example, today Graham is a groveling toady for Donald Trump, but during the 2016 presidential election he referred to Trump as a “jackass,” and “a race-baiting, xenophobic, religious bigot,” who “doesn’t have the temperament or judgement to be commander in chief.”

Lindsey Graham, Donald Trump

Graham is, after all, the guy who said of candidate Trump “I think he’s a kook. I think he’s crazy. I think he’s unfit for office.” But a year later Graham complained about Trump’s critics in the press calling him “some kind of kook, not fit to be president.” This video never gets old…

On Friday Graham appeared on Fox News and demonstrated his Olympic-grade ability to flip-flop as he attacked his former friend, Joe Biden. The topic of discussion was the arduous evacuation of Americans and others from Afghanistan. However, his appraisal was rife with fantastical visions of dire circumstances that did not exist in reality. He told his Fox Friends that…

“If we leave one American behind, if we don’t get all those Afghans who stepped up to the plate to help us out, then Joe Biden, in my view has committed a high crime and misdemeanor under the Constitution and should be impeached.”

Graham is deliberately setting up a scenario for failure based on his partisan political hopes rather than the facts on the ground or any genuine concern for the wellbeing of either Americans or Afghans. And he is rushing to place blame on President Biden for problems that have not, and likely will not occur.

Never mind that it was Trump’s malfeasance and incompetence that set the stage for what’s happening now in Afghanistan. Trump’s own Defense secretary, Mark Esper, said that Trump “undermined” the deal with the Taliban. And his national security adviser, General H.R. McMaster, derisively described Trump’s deal as “capitulation,” and a “surrender agreement.”

Graham’s sudden craving for an impeachment is another one of his partisan backflips. While he’s itching to impeach Biden without even the pretense of rational grounds, he voted against impeaching Trump for actual crimes against America – twice. And his preposterous justification for those votes was that “I firmly believe impeachment would further destroy our ability to heal and start over.”

Even more bizarre was Graham’s recent threat to impeach Vice-President Kamala Harris based on an easily provable lie, saying that, “I don’t know how Kamala Harris doesn’t get impeached if Republicans take over the House.” Which is just another crucial reason to vote against every Republican for any office.

Graham clearly has an impeachment fetish, but only when it concerns innocent Democrats. However, he’s happy to forgive his Dear Leader for flagrantly impeachable misconduct. What’s more, Graham is willing to betray his longtime friends in order to achieve his sinister goals.

Remember, both of Trump’s impeachments were over his deranged obsession with destroying Joe Biden. In the first, Trump was found to have pressured the president of Ukraine to dig up nonexistent dirt on Biden. In the second, Trump incited a violent insurrection to overturn the will of the people and prevent the certification of Biden’s electoral victory.

At this point it would safe to disregard Graham as a hyper-partisan, bootlicking, fraud, who will sell out his party, his country, and his soul for a smattering of crumbs from his messiah, Donald Trump. After all the turmoil of the Trump years, Graham still believes that the Republican Party “can’t grow without him.” And he worshipfully declared his desire to “harness the magic” of Trump’s “movement,” while ignoring his “dark side.” Which is something he could just as easily have said about Satan.

Fox News Spreads Racist Lie that Blacks are Most Responsible for Spreading COVID

Fox News is the undisputed leader in disseminating disinformation about the coronavirus pandemic. Their top primetime hosts persistently downplay the severity of the crisis that they belittle as nothing more than the flu. Simultaneously they disparage efforts to mitigate its proliferation by taking such common sense measures as getting vaccinated and wearing face masks.

Fox News, KKK

Fox’s status as America’s top pro-COVID “news” network is affirmed by research finding that Fox News viewers significantly trail viewers of other media in getting vaccinated. This is unsurprising considering that their highest rated program host, Tucker Carlson, has articulated the false and paranoid view that vaccines don’t work and “they” aren’t telling you. And Sean Hannity is singing the same hymn as he assures his audience that “I never told anyone to get a vaccine. I’ve been very clear. I am simply not qualified. I’m not a medical doctor.”

On Thursday night their colleague Laura Ingraham joined the choir with an interview of Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick. Ingraham was committed to providing Patrick with a platform to make implausible and brazenly racist excuses for why Texas is currently among the worst states in the nation suffering from a surge in COVOD cases and fatalities. And Patrick took full advantage of it:

Ingraham: They’re coming after your state cause the increased COVID numbers, hospitalizations, deaths, are up in Texas. And there’s a direct assault on your governor’s policies and your state’s policies. A very brief response.
Patrick: The COVID is spreading particularly, most of the numbers are with the unvaccinated. And the Democrats like to blame Republicans on that. Well, the biggest group in most states are African-Americans who have not been vaccinated. And the last time I checked, over 90% of them vote for Democrats in the major cities and major counties.

So it’s up to the Democrats to get, just as it is up to Republicans, to try to get as many people vaccinated. But we respect the fact that if people don’t want the vaccination, we’re not going to force it on them. That’s their individual right. But in terms of criticizing the Republicans for this? We’re encouraging people who want to take it to take it, but they’re doing nothing for the African American community that has a significant high number of unvaccinated people.

Ingraham’s question began by invoking sympathy for Patrick as a “victim” of unnamed nefarious actors “coming after” Texas and it’s policies that have made it a COVID hot zone. Notice that Patrick acknowledged that the unvaccinated are the problem, which sharply contrasts with his opposition to taking steps to mandate vaccinations or masks for those who refuse. However, he then immediately diverted his response to place the blame entirely on African-Americans, not just in Texas, but throughout the country.

Of course the blame that Patrick is casting on unvaccinated Blacks is shared by the Democrats for whom they vote. Patrick is shamelessly politicizing the issue by creating a wholly contrived distinction between Republicans and Blacks. He views the Republicans who don’t get vaccinated as freedom-loving patriots with free will. Blacks, on the other hand, he sees as trouble makers whose ignorance is responsible for exacerbating a deadly plague.

More to the point, Patrick’s core problem is that he is dead wrong about the biggest group of unvaccinated Texans. It isn’t even close. The Washington Post reports on “U.S. Census Bureau data collected in July and August that suggests unvaccinated White Texans outnumber unvaccinated Black Texans roughly three to one.”

Patrick is purposely conflating vaccination rates with the actual numbers of persons who haven’t been vaccinated. Anyone paying even glancing attention would know that the majority white population would harbor a much larger number of the unvaccinated. It’s true that some Blacks have been resistant to vaccines due to past experiences with a medical establishment that has exhibited patterns of systemic racism. But much of the conservative Republican cult is outright hostile to vaccines. And while Blacks can be persuaded with information from trusted sources, the white-wingers have hardened views that are cast in stone.

This attempt by Patrick, via Fox News, to cast blame for the pandemic surge on Blacks is just the latest example of their overt racism. They will always seek out ways to find people of color at fault for any and every problem. And this episode proves that even when the facts completely contradict their narrative, they will twist them until they find a way to them fit.

How Stupid is Trump’s Designated Twitter? Check Out Her Bogus ‘Proof’ of Election Fraud

Ever since Donald Trump was banished from Twitter nearly eight months ago “due to the risk of further incitement of violence,” his spokesperson, Liz Harrington, has been proxy tweeting on his behalf. Doing so is a blatant violation of Twitter’s rules against circumventing a ban, and should not be permitted. But Twitter is neglecting its own rules in order to placate a pathetic loser who is intent on inflaming his glassy-eyed disciples like the one who made a bomb threat in Washington, D.C. Thursday morning.

Donald Trump, Twitter

Harrington’s tweets are mostly just cut and paste regurgitations of the hostile, ignorant, and often incoherent lies issued by Trump. She has posted hundreds of them of them in the past few months. But she will occasionally post something that she thinks is important for Trump’s cult followers to know about. And that’s what she did on Thursday when she retweeted a video that claimed to be “proof” of the mythical election fraud that Trump is so obsessed with. Harrington added her own sarcastic commentary mocking the video as evidence of “The most secure election in history.”

This was clearly a triumphant discovery for Harrington. She had found what was, in her feeble mind, confirmation of Democratic shenanigans to steal another election. There was just one problem. Everything about the video smelled of horse manure. Everything from the caption alleging that two women were “stealing” ballots, to the attribution associating it with the police, were totally fabricated.

First of all, there is no time stamp on the video so it could have been made ten years ago. There is no verifiable location. There is no identification of the people, who may actually be authorized to maintain the mail facility.

What’s more, the envelopes are not recognizably ballots. And even if it were, it cannot be determined how they were voted. If anything, they would be more likely to be votes for Gavin Newsom because Democrats are more likely to vote by mail than Republicans. So maybe Harrington actually stumbled on another example of the GOP tampering with an election.

Finally, the user ID (“police-frequency”) is not affiliated with law enforcement, despite the notation that explicitly asserts that. If you go to the original source for the video you’ll find that it is just the social media account of a right wing, Trump supporting Telegram user who posts lots of links to conservative conspiracy theories and Fox News.

If this were just some random Twitter clown posting the typical nonsense that gets disseminated online it would be bad enough. But Harrington is the official spokesperson for a former president who continues to string along his sheep with hints of a future campaign to regain the White House (despite his deranged insistence that he never lost it).

It is irresponsible and potentially dangerous for Harrington to post messages like these as it adds fuel to Trump’s crusade to undermine faith in American democracy. But in addition to the possible civil unrest it could provoke, it is also pitifully stupid. It shows that she couldn’t bother to spend ten minutes to investigate the video and see what a load of bunk it was. Or perhaps she did and didn’t care. That would be routine behavior for Trump and his team of professional, albeit frightfully inept, liars.

WITCH HUNT? Serial Sexual Predator Trump Defends the Wife Stalker He Pardoned

Donald Trump seems intent on affirming that he couldn’t care less about America or the American people. He proved it this week when he dismissed COVID vaccines as “a money making operation.” He proved it when he released the Taliban leader who is now set to become the president of Afghanistan. And he continually proves it whenever he furthers his “Big Lie” that the 2020 presidential election was “stolen” from him.

Donald Trump, Witch Hunt

On Thursday morning Trump issued a flurry of statements via his spokes-shill, Liz Harrington (whose proxy Trump tweeting is violating Twitter’s rules against circumventing a ban). The messages Trump felt so compelled to express concerned subjects as varied as bashing Biden on Afghanistan, Google’s allegedly anti-Trump algorithms, and a ludicrous poll by the ultra-biased Rasmussen claiming that Trump would beat Biden if an election were held today. Notably, not a single statement was made to try to talk down his supporter who was making a bomb threat in Washington, D.C. at the time.

One of the matters that Trump did believe was of critical importance was the news that a close friend of his son-in-law, and former White House advisor, Jared Kushner, was indicted on charges of cyberstalking. According to The Hill

“An associate of former President Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner was charged Wednesday with eavesdropping and computer trespass for allegedly using spyware to monitor his former wife’s online activity. Ken Kurson, who was pardoned by Trump and is a close friend of Kushner’s, was charged with two felonies by the Manhattan District Attorney’s office.”

Kurson was previously charged with federal cyberstalking crimes against several people, including his ex-wife, when Trump pardoned him just before he left office. The pardon does not immunize Kurson from violations of state law. It’s questionable as to whether Trump understands that.

Calling the new indictments a “Witch hunt of Trump allies … as Cy Vance goes after pardoned man,” Trump whined that “Prosecutors are out of control. We are living in a Banana Republic.”

It’s helpful that Trump admits that Kurson is an ally, but he doesn’t specify in what pursuits they are allied. Is that they are both abusers of women? Or is it that they both violate the law whenever they determine that it’s in their interest to do so? Or is it that they both consider themselves above the law as result of their wealth and elitist status? Clearly they have much in common.

Trump is likely frightened by these indictments because they portend imminent legal peril for him. Kurson could cooperate with the authorities by providing evidence of Trump’s political malfeasance and financial misconduct. And Kurson’s indictment could foreshadow others that have yet to be announced.

Now Trump knows that the numerous pardons he dished out to his accomplices (i.e. Steve Bannon, Roger Stone, Paul Manafort, Michael Flynn, etc.) will not necessarily shield him from being held accountable for his own transgressions, of which there are many that are already well documented. And judging by his reaction to the Kurson indictment, Trump is shaking in his booties this morning.

WTF? Trump Tells Fox News that Booster Shots Are a ‘Money Making Operation’ and Not Needed

It appears that having lost more than 600,000 Americans from the coronavirus still isn’t enough for Donald Trump and his Ministry of Disinformation (aka Fox News). Despite having known about the severity of the pandemic early on (but deliberately downplaying it), Trump is continuing to lead his glassy-eyed cult disciples astray with flagrant falsehoods about the current state of affairs.

Donald Trump, Fox News, Coronavirus

Trump is on a media spree this week with two visits to Fox News, one to Newsmax, and he’s hosting another of his super-spreader cult rallies, this one in Alabama where the percentage of people vaccinated is the lowest in the nation. [Late additions: Joe Pags, Rick & Bubba]

During his second Fox News “interview” with shameless Trump-fluffer, Maria Bartiromo, Trump unleashed a torrent of lies related to his negligent and incompetent mismanagement of the pandemic and where things are going from here. What follows are a few excerpted – and poignantly annotated – highlights from the segment (video below):

“I’ve taken the vaccine. I’m very, very proud of it.”
If Trump is so proud, why has he refused to mount a public service campaign to persuade his devotees (who comprise the bulk of the resistors) to get vaccinated?

“When I was president, you didn’t have this problem with people not wanting to take it.”
First of all, the vaccine was not available until December 14, 2020, after Trump was voted out, and just a month before Joe Biden was inaugurated. As for people wanting the vaccine, it was a time when demand was strong from the majority of Americans who weren’t deceived by Trump and Fox News propaganda.

“They don’t take it because they don’t trust Biden.”
That’s Trump’s psychotic projection kicking in. Any scarcity of trust was due to the deliberate anti-vax agitprop by Trump and Fox News.

“When I was president, you didn’t have people protesting the vaccine.”
Again, the vaccine had only just become available. However, you had plenty of people protesting – sometimes violently – the existence of the virus and refusing to take simple steps to mitigate its spread, like wearing masks.

“When I left it was virtually gone. It was over.”
Oh for chrissakes! The death rate was peaking in January of 2021. But Trump’s lies still seem to have much farther to go.

[On the need for a booster] “That sounds to me like a money-making operation from Pfizer. […] You wouldn’t think you would need a booster.”
Because everything that a grifter like Trump does has to have greed as a motive, he thinks that’s true for everyone else.

More troubling is Trump’s dismissal of the need for a booster shot that has been verified by actual scientists. Just as he has spent most of the last year and a half downplaying the tragic and deadly risks that people are facing, Trump still seems determined to kill off more Americans by convincing them that there isn’t any real threat and they don’t need need to take simple steps to insure the safety of themselves, their families, their communities, and their nation. And naturally, Bartiromo adoringly goes along with everything Trump says.

Trump would rather let more people suffer and die so that he can blame it all on Biden and continue his fundraising pitches to enrich himself and finance his next insurrection and attempted coup. Ironically, the number of suckers available for him to exploit with this lethal scam will decline in corresponding proportion to the number deplorables he can swindle with his self-serving lies.
