MAGA GOP Reps Deny that Donald ‘I Am Your Retribution’ Trump Has an ‘Enemies List’ (He Does)

It has been less than a week since since Donald Trump eked out a miniscule 2% victory over Vice-President Kamala Harris. But it didn’t take long for the Trump apologists in Congress to begin crafting their reality-defying accounts of his nefarious intentions to launch a reign of terror targeting Democrats, journalists, and anyone else who failed to kowtow to him and kiss his…let’s say ring.

Donald Trump

The deliberate distortions of what Trump has actually said and done over the course of his campaign amount to a bald-faced effort to gaslight the gullible rubes who were naïve enough to vote for him.

It apparently wasn’t sufficient to tell flagrant lies exalting him while viciously maligning his opponent. They must now try to convince voters that what they clearly saw and heard were all figments of their feeble imaginations. This resulted in the election of a convicted felon, serial sexual abuser, and aspiring dictator, with a resume replete with ill repute.

SEE THIS: What Is America? Who Votes For This?

So naturally Trump’s supplicants in Congress are endeavoring to whitewash his wayward past by blatantly contradicting what everyone witnessed in recent history. For example, on Sunday morning Rep. Jim Jordan insisted that Trump will not go after his political opponents. “‘He didn’t do it in his first term,’ Jordan told CNN ‘State of the Union’ host Dana Bash on Sunday.”

Of course Jordan is adamant that Trump wouldn’t go after his political opponents. Because that’s Jordan’s job. As chair of the House Judiciary Committee, Jordan has conducted numerous, meritless probes of Democrats and other Trump critics, including President Biden and his family. Here are a few others on Trump’s enemies list that CNN confronted Jordan with…

What’s more, Jordan is lying about Trump not going after political opponents in his first term. He did so repeatedly. But he wasn’t able to get anywhere because he had no hint of evidence of any wrongdoing. Even his own staff couldn’t justify the sham persecutions. As for Trump, his enemies list was well documented – mostly in his own words – and quite long. Politico published a collection of some of the targets of Trump’s wrath, including “critics and members of the media to be prosecuted, locked up, deported and even executed…”

  • Joe Biden
  • Kamala Harris
  • Barack Obama
  • Hillary Clinton
  • Nancy Pelosi
  • NY Attorney General Letitia James
  • Liz Cheney
  • Special counsel Jack Smith
  • Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg
  • Joint Chiefs of Staff Chair Mark Milley
  • James Comey
  • Hunter Biden
  • And dozens more…

Jordan was not alone in his fictionalization of Trump’s yearning for revenge. Byron Donalds (FL-MAGA) also tried to disseminate the lie that Trump was not out for vengeance, telling Fox News that “For the American people who have been listening to these lies from the Democratic left, I will tell you…There’s no enemies list.”

What’s next? Trump and his MAGA cult will try to claim that he never questioned the outcome of the 2020 election; or that he never incited a violent insurrection; or that he never downplayed the deadly effects of COVID; or that he never praised authoritarian tyrants like Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un (and Hitler); or that he never sought mass deportations of migrants; or that he never promised to impose inflationary tariffs on all imported goods; or that he never said women must be punished for seeking abortions.

This sort of truth mangling is what Americans can look forward to for the next four years. And all because some voters were more worried about paying more for eggs, than about destroying democracy. And, of course, because the media was too afraid and/or complicit to report accurately about the existential risks the nation faced by returning Trump to the White House.

Unfortunately, we will all share in the regrets – and suffering – that was caused by a small minority of ill-informed, selfish, and gullible cultists who embraced Trump’s transparent dishonesty and egomaniacal ambitions.

MAGA Mike Johnson Announces His Intention to Interfere with the Criminal Investigation of Trump

For most of the last month, Donald Trump has been a seen as a pathetic and lonely (and sleepy) crybaby as he attended his criminal trail in New York. During the hearings he sits with his lawyers scowling as the evidence of his crimes is revealed by one witness after another. Then he unleashes his wrath at the press in the court’s hallway with his tediously repetitious complaints of victimhood and the torture of a “freezing” courtroom.

Donald Trump, Congress, Mike Johnson

That changed this week, however, with the sudden appearance of some of Trump’s congressional bootlickers. They have apparently decided that the duties they have been neglecting in Washington because they have no interest in the people’s business, must now be neglected in order to prop up their Dear Leader being tried on 34 felony charges.

SEE THIS: DO-NOTHING CONGRESS? The Republican House of Representatives is the Most Productive Ever (LOL)

Among the attendees is GOP House Speaker Mike Johnson, who showed up with a coterie of congressional Trump-fluffers, and wannabe VP candidates. Trump praised them as his “surrogates” who were there speaking “beautifully” on his behalf. Although he still hasn’t managed to convince his wife Melania to stand by his side. The only thing the presence of these MAGA reps accomplishes is to affirm that Trump is using the trial as a political stunt. He has done almost no other campaigning since the trial began, despite having all his weekends and evenings free.

For his part, Johnson regurgitated the rote Trump complaints that the trial is persecution, election interference, and tainted by alleged biases of the judge and prosecutors. At one point he effectively conceded that Trump is guilty…

In addition to his toadyism for Trump, Johnson also took the opportunity to announce that he intends to exploit his position in Congress to obstruct justice on Trump’s behalf. He told the gathered media that…

“I’m working with chairman [Jim] Jordan of the House Judiciary Committee, and chairman [James] Comer of the Oversight Committee, on measures to rein in the abuses of special counsel Jack Smith.”

Johnson never bothered to reveal what those alleged abuses might be. And he surely doesn’t care that the cases Smith is prosecuting are indictments that were handed down by citizens serving on grand juries. But his intention to assign these tasks to representatives Jordan and Comer couldn’t be a better scenario – for Democrats. The two of them have been uniquely incompetent in their pursuit of President Biden for imaginary crimes and baseless impeachment probes. Their own witnesses often exonerated Biden, or wound up being arrested themselves for lying to legal authorities.

More to the point, Johnson doesn’t seem to realize that he has no jurisdiction whatsoever over an independent counsel appointed by the Attorney General. The most he could do is try to pass legislation to defund the entire Justice Department, which would cripple law enforcement on other matters such as drug trafficking, civil rights, and terrorism. What’s more, his efforts to defund the police would never get through the Senate.

The only purpose that Johnson has here is to prove to Trump that he is willing to help him to avoid accountability for the crimes he has committed. If he really thought that Trump was innocent, he would let the jury determine that and acquit him. But Johnson – like Trump – knows that he’s guilty and his only hope is some sort of get-out-of-jail-free card, or the phony and unconstitutional “presidential immunity” that Trump is trying to get from the Supreme Court.

SEE ALSO: Felonious Punk Trump Demands ‘TOTAL IMMUNITY’ – Even for Acts that ‘CROSS THE LINE’

What’s abundantly clear is that Johnson, and the MAGA GOP that he leads, have abandoned entirely any pretense of working on behalf of the American people. They have only one constituent now. And that’s Donald Trump. Unfortunately for them, their one constituent may soon be a felon who is prohibited by law from voting. And a fair portion of Republican voters are likely to resent being neglected and choose not to vote themselves. And if that comes to pass, the majority of the American people would ironically owe Trump and Johnson and the Republican Congress a debt of gratitude. Strange times indeed.

Trump Attacks Georgia D.A. Fani Willis and Sics His Congressional Lap Dog, Jim Jordan, on Her

The legal melodramas enveloping Donald Trump are becoming more engrossing than the fictional soap operas broadcast on television. Who would have believed ten years ago that a candidate of a major political party would be running for president with 91 felony charges pending against him? And even more unimaginable, that candidate is actually the frontrunner.

Trump Fear

That is, unfortunately, where we are now in America as Trump has cast his spell on what remains of the Republican Party. What was once referred to as the “Grand Old Party” (GOP) would now more accurately be called the “Groveling Obedient Peons.” It’s a cult that shamelessly worships a criminally indicted felon and rapist who preaches a platform of vengeance and venality.

SEE THIS: Trump Confesses to Bouts of Rage and Gluttony After Liz Cheney Reports His Reaction to January 6

On Friday Trump lashed out again at one of his perceived tormentors, the District Attorney of Georgia, Fani Willis. In a post on his failing social media scam, Truth Social, trump whined that…

“Fani Willis, the D.A. of Fulton County, just admitted to having a sexual relationship with the Prosecutor she, in consultation with the White House and DOJ, appointed to ‘GET PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP.’ By going after the most high level person, and the Republican Nominee, she was able to get her ‘lover’ much more money, almost a Million Dollars, than she would be able to get for the prosecution of any other person or individual. THAT MEANS THAT THIS SCAM IS TOTALLY DISCREDITED & OVER!”

For the umpteenth time Trump is trying to associate all of the prosecutors who are investigating his criminal activities with President Biden and his Justice Department. He has never provided a shred of evidence that any such connection exists, but the baseless accusation is a core part of his victimhood. He’s convinced that Biden is the head of a corrupt cabal that encompasses the entire U.S. government, even though he is – according to Trump – mentally deficient and unable to put two sentences together.

Even so, this accusation makes less sense than his other wild fantasies. He’s asserting that Biden and the DoJ got Willis to hire a special prosecutor at allegedly inflated rates. But why would the Biden administration want to enrich Willis’ boyfriend? Trump is just grasping at air to try to invoke some sort of scandal.

What’s more, Trump’s claim that the relationship “MEANS THAT THIS SCAM IS TOTALLY DISCREDITED & OVER” is preposterous. That relationship doesn’t discredit the case because it has no bearing whatsoever on the facts that have been accumulated that show that Trump attempted to threaten officials in Georgia in order to overturn the election results. And as for Trump’s suggestion that the case is now “OVER,” that will be news to the judge and the prosecutors who are still intensely engaged in it.

SEE ALSO: Trump is So Afraid of DA Fani Willis He is Frantically Pushing Phony Efforts to Impeach Her

Meanwhile, it appears that Trump has directed one of his congressional cronies to launch an assault on Willis. Jim Jordan, the GOP chair of the House Judiciary Committee, just issued a subpoena for Willis to appear and deliver documents. As reported by CBS News

“House Judiciary Committee chairman Jim Jordan subpoenaed Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis for documents related to an investigation by the GOP-led panel into allegations she misused federal funds, accusations she has denied.” […]

“Republicans on the Judiciary Committee have been looking into Willis’ use of federal funds during her office’s investigation into former President Donald Trump and his alleged scheme to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election in the state.”

This is another flagrant of abuse of power by Jordan. His committee has no jurisdiction over state prosecutions that are still in progress. His intention is to disrupt the prosecution in an effort to rescue his Dear Leader Trump. It won’t go anywhere. And coming from Jordan, who is currently still failing to comply with a congressional subpoena of his own, it could not be more ludicrous and transparently vindictive. Willis issued a response saying that…

“These false allegations are included in baseless litigation filed by a holdover employee from the previous administration who was terminated for cause. The courts that have ruled found no merit in these claims. We expect the same result in any pending litigation.”

In his delusion, Trump seems to think that these vicious tactics will get him off the hook for his multitude of crimes. He’s going to learn the hard way that judges and juries are not as easy to fool as his glassy-eyed cult followers. And if he needs any reminders of that, he just needs to ask E. Jean Carroll.

Jim Jordan Tells Fox News that His Best Evidence Against Biden is a Witness Who Exonerated Him

One week into the new year and it is clear that the Republican Party remains hell bent on continuing their desperate and baseless pursuit of pseudo-scandals with which to smear President Biden and his family. They still seem to be mired in the delusion that the American people are hungering for their representatives in Congress to be working on meritless impeachments, rather than legislative initiatives that might actually improve their lives.

Jim Jordan

To that end, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Perv) visited with Fox News Senior Trump-Fluffer, Maria Bartiromo, for a little chitchat about his efforts as chair of the House Judiciary Committee to impeach Biden. Never mind that he’s been doing this for a year now, but has failed utterly to produce any evidence, or even a coherent argument, that would justify his shamelessly partisan waste of time and taxpayer money. Instead, he and his GOP confederates have set a modern day record for laziness in legislating.

SEE THIS: DO-NOTHING CONGRESS? The Republican House of Representatives is the Most Productive Ever (LOL)

The segment began with Bartiromo constructing a convoluted question that was rife with preconception and presumptions of guilt. That led to the following exchange…

Bartiromo: Give us your sense of what the most the damning evidence is that you have so far on Joe Biden regarding bribery potential, money laundering. These are the terms that you and your colleagues have been using. Where is the evidence, and do you believe you’re going to find more from these depositions by the end of January?
Jordan: I do, to the last question. I think the most damning evidence thus far is what we got from Devon Archer.

That’s an astonishing admission on Jordan’s part. Because when Devon Archer, a former business partner of Hunter Biden, testified before Congress, he completely contradicted everything that the Republican shills have alleged for years.

Archer testified, under oath, that Biden never discussed any business dealings or interests with Hunter Biden or anyone else. He said that he knew nothing about alleged bribes paid to the Biden family. He refuted charges that Biden sought to oust a Ukrainian prosecutor in order to benefit his son.

In short, the witness that Jordan claims provided his best evidence against Biden, actually exonerates him of every charge that the Republicans have used to slander the President. And when Jordan’s accomplice in this political character assassination, James Comer, chair of the Oversight Committee, was asked on Fox News if would be able to prove his allegations against Biden, he replied “I sure hope so.” Which is a long ways from “Yes.”

SEE ALSO: YES OR NO? GOP Biden Basher Can’t Answer Hannity’s Question About Bogus Bribery Allegations

In addition to the humiliating performance of Jordan above, he also discussed with Bartiromo the matter of Hunter Biden’s alleged failure to comply with a congressional subpoena. The truth is that Hunter did try to comply with the original request to testify in a public hearing. But when Republicans later reneged and insisted that he be deposed in a closed session, Hunter reiterated his agreement to testify publicly.

That dispute led to Republicans declaring their intention to hold Hunter in contempt of Congress. Which is hypocrisy on a grand scale considering that Jordan himself failed to comply with a subpoena from the House January 6th Committee.

Jordan’s blatant act of contempt has now gone on for more than year and a half. Yet Jordan still has the gall to complain about the Hunter subpoena on Fox News, who lies about it. Which just goes to prove that the best words to describe Fox News and the Republican party are “lies,” “hypocrisy” and “contempt.”

GOP Scandal Mongers Float a Wild New Impeachment Charge Against Biden for Talking to his Son

The Republican Party is clearly suffering from severe and debilitating delusions about President Biden. They are freakishly fixated on their bizarre and wholly unwarranted determination to implicate him for some (any) crime and to remove him office for whatever imaginary offense they manufacture.

Click here to Tweet this article

Joe Biden, GOP, Elephant

Republicans have held their razor-thin (and shrinking) majority in the House of Representatives for nearly a year now. And in that time they have fanatically focused on their depraved Biden obsession to the exclusion of everything else, including avoiding a debt ceiling default, funding the government, supporting allies in Israel and Ukraine, reforming immigration policy, and much more. Their BCD (Biden Compulsive Disorder) has resulted in the House breaking the modern records for inactivity and ineptitude.

SEE THIS: DO-NOTHING CONGRESS? The Republican House of Representatives is the Most Productive Ever (LOL)

The latest fabrication from the GOP Bullsh*t Factory is a real doozy. A couple of weeks ago Hunter Biden spoke on the steps of the Capitol to inform Republicans that he was ready to testify before their committee in public hearings. But the GOP committee chairs, Jim Jordan and James Comer, refused, insisting that he be deposed behind closed doors.

The GOP’s position is predictable considering how badly they have been humiliated in their previous public hearings. Their own witnesses testified that President Biden had done nothing wrong. They only want to conduct future hearings in private so that they can lie about it afterward. And now that Hunter has called their bluff, they are inventing new allegations that make no sense at all. As reported by The Hill…

“House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) and House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) are suggesting that President Biden may have ‘engaged in a conspiracy to obstruct a proceeding of Congress’ if he knew that his son Hunter Biden planned to defy a congressional subpoena […] and said it ‘could constitute an impeachable offense.'”

WTF? This charge boils down to the GOP asserting that Biden can be impeached for the high crime of talking to his son. There is absolutely no constitutional prohibition of presidents discussing things that their children might tell reporters about pending litigation. It would be different if Biden were interfering with the Justice Department, but there is no hint of evidence of anything remotely approaching that.

Jordan and Comer are also saying that a refusal to comply with a congressional subpoena constitutes obstruction of Congress. That’s just plain preposterous. Congress is not impeded from functioning simply because a single witness disputes the validity of a subpoena and declines to testify. But if it were true, then Jim Jordan is the one who should be prosecuted. He has been refusing to comply with a congressional subpoena for over a year now. And you can add Trump flunkies Steve Bannon, Peter Navarro, and Dan Scavino, to the list of those subpoena evaders who are contemptuous of Congress.

SEE ALSO: Rep Swalwell Skewers GOP Committee Chair Jim Jordan for Hypocritical Attack on Merrick Garland

To make matters worse, Comer scampered off to a right-wing cable outlet to complain about his being ignored by Hunter Biden. He whined to Newsmax that…

“I’ve told my colleagues in the Republican conference, if Hunter Biden doesn’t comply with our subpoena then we might as well throw the subpoena power away cause nobody’s gonna comply with a congressional subpoena. The fact that the Democrats used their subpoenas for political reasons, for fishing expeditions, and here we have a credible investigation where we’ve been transparent with the American people, we have mountains of evidence.”

Comer’s complaint about the value of congressional subpoenas is a little late considering all of the Republicans who have already devalued it. The difference is that Democrats didn’t cry like babies when Republicans didn’t show. Democrats presented their evidence and moved on. Republicans, however, can’t do that because they don’t actually have any evidence. Which is the reason they always end up resorting to whining so pathetically instead. What else can they do?

Jim Jordan Babbles About Trump When Asked on Fox News for Evidence to Impeach President Biden

The ongoing circus that the clowns (aka Republicans) in the House of Representatives are trying to pass off as an impeachment inquiry of President Biden continues to prove that they have nothing to support their transparently partisan and vengeance-driven farce. And immune as they are to humiliation, they just keep digging themselves into ever deeper trenches.

Jim Jordan, Biden's Emails

Ever since the GOP assumed their razor-thin (and shrinking) majority in the House, they have devoted themselves to a purely political pursuit aimed at disparaging Biden and other Democrats. It has been their singular obsession, dispensing with any pretense of serving the American people. And despite their intense focus on fictitious faultfinding, they remain breathtakingly bad at it. But that doesn’t deter them from bragging about it…

SEE THIS: GOP Speaker Admits the Purpose of the Biden Impeachment Inquiry is to Hurt Biden Politically

Wednesday morning Jim Jordan, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, visited with his pals at the GOP’s Ministry of Propaganda, Fox News. However, he was startled by a un-Fox like question that actually sought to extract some useful information. Anchor John Roberts asked…

“We don’t know if it exists even – and I think a lot of people want to know about this – is where is the evidence of wrongdoing Joe Biden’s part.”

That’s a good question that has been asked repeatedly by bona fide journalists on other news networks. And Republicans have never been able to come up with a coherent answer. This occasion was no different. Jordan awkwardly stumbled around with an “everything but the kitchen sink” approach to bull manure spreading. He didn’t even bother address the question of Biden’s alleged wrongdoing. His answer was all about Trump…

“The 14th Amendment doesn’t talk about the office of the President in that section of the 14th Amendment. And, frankly, the president was put on trial and found not guilty by the United States Senate when the Democrats did their second crazy impeachment of him before. But the scariest thing of all in my judgment is the escalation with what the left will do to try to keep him out of The White House. I mean, first it was they spied on his campaign. then it was the Mueller investigation. Then it was the impeachment. Then it was raiding his home. Then it was indicting him in four different locations.”

Having completely avoided any discussion of evidence against Biden, Jordan just rattled off everything that Trump has been whining about for the past three years. It’s just Jordan’s way of shoveling too much crapola for anyone to rebut in a time-constrained television segment. And it was hardly a plot carried out by the left. Let’s take a look at his malarkey…

“The 14th Amendment doesn’t talk about the office of the President.”
No, but it does talk about being “a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State…”

“The president was put on trial and found not guilty by the United States Senate.”
No he wasn’t. And it wasn’t a trial. A majority of Senators (57), including seven Republicans, voted to convict and remove Trump from office in the second impeachment. But the Senate requires a two-thirds majority. It was not, however, a decree of not guilty.

“They spied on his campaign.”
No they didn’t. The FBI did investigate Russian interference in the 2016 election, and Trump and his associates just happened to be closely connected to much of it.

“Then it was the Mueller investigation.”
Special Counsel Robert Mueller was appointed by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who was appointed by Donald Trump. The Justice Department was run by Republican Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

“Then it was the impeachment.”
The person solely responsible for Trump’s impeachments was Trump. He’s the one who tried to extort the president of Ukraine to get him to find dirt on Biden. And he tried to stage a violent coup to retain power after he lost the 2020 election.

“Then it was raiding his home.”
Trump’s home was not raided. He was served a lawful subpoena that he failed to comply with and lied to the FBI. That resulted in a search of his Mar-a-Lago home/hotel that found hundreds of classified documents.

“Then it was indicting him in four different locations.”
Once again, there was no plot by the left. It was Trump’s unlawful conduct and failure to cooperate that was the reason for his four indictments on 91 felony counts.

So Jordan’s response simply reminded everyone about all of Trump’s criminal activities, rather than providing the evidence against Biden that he was asked about. That’s not an especially smart way to advance his smear campaign. But in his defense, he was faced with a crippling dilemma wherein there isn’t any evidence against Biden, but mountains of it against Trump. So what else could he talk about?

Fox News Dangles Dopey Spin that Hakeem Jeffries Lost the Speaker’s Vote ’17 Times in a Row’

After nearly two weeks, the nation is still without a Speaker of the House and a functioning House of Representatives. That’s because the Republican Party is too wrapped up in power struggles and inflamed egos as they try to navigate the treacherous waters of Trump cultism.

Click here to Tweet this article

Fox News, Fake News

The efforts by the GOP to offer some semblance of leadership have been pitifully lacking from the day they assumed their razor-thin majority in the House. It took them fifteen rounds of voting to elect Kevin McCarthy as Speaker. He only lasted eight months and has now been ousted by his own members, who can’t seem to find anyone to replace him. It’s the sort of colossal clusterf**k that the GOP is known for. You would think that they might have figured that out by now.

SEE THIS: Squeaker McCarthy Laments Learning that the GOP’s Mission is to ‘Burn the Whole Place Down’

Since McCarthy’s banishment from the post, his lieutenant, Steve Scalise, briefly flirted with idea of succeeding him. Then Jim Jordan, the “legislative terrorist” (as former GOP Speaker John Boehner called him), lost two votes for the speakership. So the post remains unfilled and the Congress is effectively defunct. Which may be an improvement over being operative with a GOP majority.

In the meantime, the Republican Ministry of Propaganda (aka Fox News) is stretching credulity with their excuses for the GOP’s ineptitude. On Fox it isn’t the Republican’s fault that they have failed utterly to exhibit any aptitude for governing. Nope. They are pointing their bony fingers at Democrats who are in the minority. For example, see this exchange between Fox News shills, John Roberts and Jason Chaffetz…

Roberts: If the script were flipped and it was Democrats who were in control of Congress – if [Democratic Leader] Hakeem Jeffries were to be put up for a vote for Speaker, how long do you think it would take to get to 218 votes?
Chaffetz: Well, Hakeem Jeffries has now lost 17 races in a row. So 17 times in a row he’s been put up for Speaker and he’s lost. So he’s kind of already over that threshold. I just don’t think one party is gonna come in and support another party.

Seriously? Does Chaffetz really believe that the party in the minority is somehow deficient if they fail to get a majority of votes? And didn’t he notice that in 13 one of those 17 votes Jeffries got more votes than the Republican? In fact, Jeffries got 100% of his party’s votes on every ballot.

Chaffetz appears to have ignored the premise of Roberts’ question, which assumed a Democratic majority. Roberts had to remind him that his question was intended to point out that Democrats would have quickly elected a Speaker if they were in the position that the Republicans are in now.

For his part, Jordan sought to step aside, at least temporarily, in order to execute the GOP’s “Plan B,” wherein interim Speaker Patrick McHenry would be given enhanced powers and be permitted to rule for a couple of months. Setting aside the question as to whether that is even constitutional, it would be a de facto admission of the Republican Party’s desperation and incompetence as political stewards. Nevertheless, the GOP conference refused to go along and Jordan jumped back into the race saying that…

“We made the pitch to members on the resolution as the way to lower the temperature and get back to work. We decided that wasn’t where we were going to go. I’m still running for Speaker. I plan to go to the floor and get the votes and win this race. But I want to go talk with a few of my colleagues. Particularly I want to talk with the twenty individuals who voted against me so that we can move forward and begin to work for the American people.”

In other words, Jordan wants more time to make more threats that will ultimately lead to more humiliation. Democrats will surely allow Jordan and the Republicans the space to make fools of themselves. Although they would prefer that the GOP agree to a power-sharing solution that would advance the interests of the nation. Unfortunately, the GOP is neither responsible nor smart enough to make that deal.

Trump’s Famously Flapping Lips are Sealed About Jim Jordan, His Failed Endorsee for Speaker

The conspicuous chaos of the Republican Party continues to be on display as is evident in their incompetence and inability to govern. For the first time in its history, the United States House of Representatives has been without a Speaker for two weeks. Which renders it powerless to conduct any business at a time when there happens to be some critical domestic and foreign crises underway.

Click here to Tweet this article

Donald Trump

After the second failed vote for the insurrectionist wannabe Speaker, Jim Jordan, Republicans have been struggling to find excuses for their abortive attempts at congressional administration. Naturally, they are trying to blame everything on the Democrats, who they seem to think have some sort of obligation to rescue them from their own fiascos. It’s their knee-jerk response to virtually every problem that they create.

SEE THIS: Fox News Blames Biden for the Lack of Foreign Policy Officials – That Republicans Have Blocked

Nearly two weeks ago, immediately after Republicans ousted now ex-Speaker Kevin McCarthy, Trump posted a comment on his failing social media scam, Truth Social, throwing his support behind Jordan, saying “He will be a GREAT Speaker of the House, & has my Complete & Total Endorsement!” So far, that endorsement has proven to be worth about as much a Trump NFT trading card.

Despite Trump’s endorsement – or perhaps because of it – Jordan received even fewer Republican votes on the second ballot than he did on the first. So it may not be surprising that Trump has apparently walked away from his pal. Although he is known for interjecting his typically inane opinions into every conversation, Trump hasn’t said a single word about Jordan’s double flop. We may be just a day or two away from Trump declaring that he barely knew Jordan, who was no more than a coffee boy.

This is not, however, an indication that Trump has lost his obsessive loquaciousness. He is still prone to babbling incessantly when he thinks it serves his interest. For example, on Tuesday Trump had to be admonished by the judge in his financial fraud case to shut up while a witness was testifying. That was the second judge who had rein in Trump’s incendiary rhetoric. The judge in his federal election interference case slapped a partial gag order on him to prohibit him from making disparaging or threatening remarks about prosecutors, court staff, and others involved in the trial.

“Mr. Trump may still vigorously seek public support as a presidential candidate, debate policies and people related to that candidacy, criticize the current administration and assert his belief that this prosecution is politically motivated,” [Judge] Chutkan said. “But those critical first amendment freedoms do not allow him to launch a pre-trial smear campaign against participating government staff, their families and foreseeable witnesses.”

Despite the narrow construction of the gag order, Trump raged that his right to speak had been taken away. And what made it all the more preposterous was that he raged about that alleged infringement of his rights as he was actually speaking to a gaggle of reporters.

Clearly Trump still possesses both his right to speak and his ability to do so with relentless fervor and frothing incoherence. But for some reason he has gone silent about Jim Jordan. He likely doesn’t want to draw attention to how impotent his endorsement has become. If he can’t even bully his MAGA minions in Congress, what does he have left?

Nothing better exemplifies that than the way they banished their Speaker, Kevin McCarthy, for the sin of making concessions to Democrats in order to prevent a devastating government shutdown that most Republicans seemed to have been hoping for. And now that McCarthy is gone, there are factions in the party that are anxious to oust Rep. Matt Gaetz, the guy who led the McCarthy coup.

No rational person thinks that this is the way that government should operate. But to the GOP, it’s the only way they know. So it should come as no surprise that some of them are plotting to make a bad situation monstrously worse.

Since there is no apparent heir to McCarthy’s throne, desperate members of the disgruntled GOP caucus are floating a name from outside the House: Donald J. Trump, the twice impeached former White House occupant who is currently awaiting trial on four criminal indictments consisting of 91 felony charges.

Trump’s name will likely be put into nomination by someone like Marjorie Taylor Greene or Troy Niels, who have both already expressed their support. However, advocates for a Trump speakership are also coming from his Ministry of Propaganda, Fox News. On Tuesday night during an interview of Jim Jordan on Fox News, Sean Hannity revealed that…

“Sources telling me at this hour that some House Republicans have been in contact with – have started an effort to draft former president Donald Trump to be the next speaker and I have been told that president Trump might be open to helping the Republican party at least in the short term if necessary.”

That’s right! It didn’t take Hannity – Fox’s Senior Trump-fluffer – but a few hours to promote his favorite soon-to-be felon to assume control of the People’s House. As if Trump would have the slightest idea what the job entails. And Jim Jordan was open to it too. Except for the minor problem that he announced Wednesday morning that he is running for the post himself.

Hannity said that he thinks that the “stable genius” Trump could be both president and speaker. That would be quite a feat. He would have to squeeze it in between his court hearings and potential periods of incarceration. But what Hannity and the GOP Trumpists appear to be ignorant of are their own rules that prohibit criminals like Trump from serving as speaker.

Rule 26(a) of the Republican House Conference Rules: “A member of the Republican Leadership shall step aside if indicted for a felony for which a sentence of two or more years imprisonment may be imposed.” [So you’re cool if you’re a Republican who has been indicted for a felony with only a one year sentence]

Trump himself is ignorant of this rule as well. On Wednesday morning he was asked by reporters if he would take the job of House Speaker. He replied that…

“A lot of people have been calling me about speaker … If I could help them during the process, then I’d do it.”

It’s hard to imagine Trump being helpful during this or any other process. He would be a worst case scenario for Republicans in the House or, for that matter, America. Trump knows even less about the administration of Congress than he does about the White House. And even after four years in office he has proven that he knows nothing about that. But then again, do Republicans have any better candidates? Do Jordan, or Gaetz, or Steve Scalise, or Elise Stefanik, or anyone else, stir their passions? Not so far.

If we’re lucky, Democratic Majority Leader Hakeem Jeffries will be elected Speaker. He would only need four or five Republicans to stay home in order to prevail. There are at least eighteen Republicans who are either fed up with their party or nervous about being reelected in Democratic districts. And Jeffries could offer them perks to encourage them to sit out the vote. Then he could maintain his position by proposing some form of power sharing. It’s a long shot, to be sure. But it’s way more likely than Trump – aka Cadet Bone Spurs – riding to the rescue.

Rep Swalwell Skewers GOP Committee Chair Jim Jordan for Hypocritical Attack on Merrick Garland

Since the beginning of this year, Republicans have been busying themselves with a variety of laughably ludicrous hearings in the House of Representatives. They are taking advantage of their razor-thin majority to unleash blatantly partisan smears aimed solely at soiling the reputations of President Biden and other Democrats.

Jim Jordan, Biden's Emails

Unfortunately for the GOP scandal mongers, these hearings have, more often than not, resulted in Democrats revealing the copious crimes, political biases, and ethical lapses of Republicans. What they have never done is to affirm even the slightest hint of any wrongdoing by Biden or any other Democratic official. But perhaps the Republicans don’t mind because it has never been their intention to expose any actual breach of the law. They have not even been shy about admitting their nefarious agenda.

On Wednesday the Republican-led Judiciary Committee invited Attorney General Merrick Garland to testify. There was never any doubt that this hearing would be used by Republicans to bash Garland for imaginary misdeeds and manufactured outrages. And on that measure, they didn’t disappoint. Every GOP member wasted their time with tedious complaints that disregarded reality in order to disparage Garland.

The Republican hate-fest was contrasted by the Democrats on the committee, who honestly and effectively shot down all of the GOP’s lame attempts to rattle Garland. A particularly good example of that came when GOP Rep. Thomas Massie complained that he wasn’t getting the answers he wanted and asked, “Aren’t you, in fact, in contempt of Congress when you refuse to answer?” Of course, the short answer to that is “No!” It is not contempt of Congress if the member doesn’t like the answer.

However, it was then Rep. Eric Swalwell’s turn to speak. And he began by responding to Massie’s preposterous charge…

“Mr. Attorney General, my colleague just said you should be held in contempt of Congress. And that is quite rich because the guy who is leaving the hearing room right now, Mr. Jordan, is about 500 days into evading his subpoena. About 500 days. So if we’re going to talk about contempt of Congress, let’s get real.

“Are you serious that Jim Jordan, a witness to one of the greatest crimes committed in America, a crime where more prosecutions have occurred than any crime in this country, refuses to help this country, and we’re going to get lectured about subpoena compliance and contempt of Congress? Jim Jordan won’t even honor a lawful subpoena. Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me? There’s no credibility on that side.”

Indeed, Jordan was subpoenaed by the House Select Committee investigating the January 6th insurrection that Donald Trump incited. Jordan had directly relevant information involving conversations that he admits he had with Trump that day. Jordan could have complied with the subpoena by showing up and taking the Fifth Amendment if he didn’t want to incriminate himself. But he just ignored it. Which is unarguably contempt of Congress.

Yet somehow, Republicans are fixated on trivialities that they are desperately trying to magnify into unholy debauchery. And it goes farther up than just chairman Jordan. GOP House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is just as culpable for the sort of contemptuous behavior toward the body that he purports to lead. He also refused to comply with a subpoena. Which means he also has zero respect for the House and the law. Which might explain why he is so pitifully impotent in his role as Speaker.
