Trump’s TRUTH Social Twitter Ripoff Suffers Another Setback Due to His Criminal Corruption

When Twitter permanently suspended Donald Trump two days after the January 6th insurrection that he incited, they said that it was “due to the risk of further incitement of violence.” There was a collective sigh of relief in America in anticipation that his maniacal raving might be muffled for a while. Unfortunately, that was not to be.

Soon after Trump was given the boot by Twitter, he launched his own social media operation, Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG). The core of this scam was TRUTH Social, a blatant ripoff of Twitter built on rage and revenge. He promised that it would be a bastion of free speech, despite the fact that its terms of service explicitly forbid posts that criticized Trump and users were banned for posting the truth about January 6th.

Right from the start this racket rocketed to failure in record time. Digital World Acquisition Corporation (DWAC), the shell company that was expected to take the new business public, has declined in value by 80% from its high mark last October.

DWAC has suffered a series of the financial and legal setbacks that are so common to any Trump enterprise. And now there is another adversity owing to Trump’s inbred immorality:

“Digital World Acquisition Corp., the special purpose acquisition company planning to merge with the company behind former President Donald Trump’s Truth Social platform, is asking its shareholders to delay the deadline for completing the deal until 2023, in part because of federal investigations into the transaction. […] DWAC warned that may not even be enough time, though, noting the investigations might hamper its ability to win regulatory approval, which it said ‘may require us to liquidate.'”

The “federal investigations” to which this notice refers includes a Grand Jury in New York, for which all of DWAC’s board members have been subpoenaed. At the same time the Securities and Exchange Commission is investigating whether TMTG and DWAC executives improperly coordinated with each other and engaged in insider trading.

These probes have contributed to the cratering of the value of Trump’s crime vehicle, DWAC. It may also explain why Trump himself bailed on his crooked company. Just weeks before the subpoenas were served, Trump removed himself and Don Jr from the board of TMTG.

Even worse, from Trump’s perspective, is that if this deal doesn’t go through he won’t be able to pocket the billions of dollars that have been raised by his criminal cronies to finance this flagrant fraud. Bearing in mind that the only purpose of this sham venture was to either exact vengeance on Trump’s enemies, or enrich him personally, he appears to have failed on both counts. And it will just add to the list of criminal offences that Trump and his crime family could be held liable for.

Trump Drops an Utterly Unhinged Harangue to Celebrate Himself on the 4th of July

There is nothing more predictable than Donald Trump turning the focus of any and every public event or commentary to himself. He is a textbook example of a malignant narcissist for whom all attention must always be placed on him no matter what the occasion. And this 4th of July is no different.

Trump is observing this Independence Day by throwing another one of his infantile distemper tantrums. This one comes in a burst of petulant rage that has surely been aggravated by the accumulating evidence of his criminality being presented by the House Select Committee investigating the January 6th insurrection that he incited.

The multi-post tirade that Trump hammered out on his Twitter clone website, TRUTH Social (that is both failing financially and flailing legally), was rife with his tediously repetitious whining and insults stemming from his delusions of victimhood. If nothing else, Trump has affirmed his place in history as America’s biggest crybaby.

The rants that Trump posted cover a narrow range of topics mainly devoted to his “Big Lie” that the 2020 presidential election was ‘rigged” and “stolen” from him. Never mind that after 20 months, and sixty court challenges, he has failed to produce a shred of evidence. What follows are some of his key points, with reality-based annotations:

Trump began by assailing the Republican vice-chair of the Committee as “despicable human being Liz Cheney.” As usual, he is incapable of factually rebutting anything that she has said, so he resorts to childish name-calling.

He complained that “HER Fake Unselect Committee may recommend CRIMINAL CHARGES against” him. If he really believes the Committee is “fake,” then why is he so worried about the charges?

He repeated his ridiculous boast that he “got more votes than any sitting President.” So what? He also got fewer votes than Joe Biden. You know, the winner. And both candidates got large vote totals because the population – and the electorate – are bigger.

He’s thinks the Committee should “press charges instead against those that cheated on the Election.” They would if that weren’t a figment of his perverse imagination. He’s tried dozens of times to assert his cheating claim in court. And he lost every case, even those with Republican judges.

Returning to his name-calling, Trump lashed out at “the highly partisan Unselect Committee of political Thugs.” Of course, the Committee has two very conservative Republicans. Although there is a partisan aspect to the witnesses who have testified against him. They are all Republicans.

Naturally, he had to unleash his objections to the “Impeachment Hoax #1, Impeachment Hoax # 2, the ‘No Collusion’ Mueller Report and, overall, the GREATEST WITCH HUNT IN THE HISTORY OF THE USA.” True to form, everything that Trump doesn’t like is either a hoax or a witch hunt.

He wants the Committee to “go after the people who have been rioting.” That’s exactly what the Department of Justice is doing. In fact, some 800 of them them have already been arrested for storming Congress and trying to overthrow the government, at Trump’s behest.

Then he adds “No, let’s get ‘Trump’!” Don’t worry, Donald, they’ll get around to you. Also, why do you put your own name in quotes, as if it’s a fictional reference?

Finally, Trump says that “none of these terrible events would have happened if I were President!!!” First of all, it’s good to see him admit that he is not president. But it’s preposterous for him to claim that the events he’s griping about, most of which he is responsible for, wouldn’t have happened were he still occupying the White House. And he was responsible for many other horrendous events when he was there as well.

And that was Trump’s 4th of July message to America. That was what his glassy-eyed cult disciples regard as a patriotic address. But then what else would you expect from the guy who refused to visit a war memorial for American soldiers because he considers them to be “losers” and “suckers”?

LOCK HIM UP: Trump’s TRUTH Social Scam is Being Criminally Investigated By a Federal Grand Jury

America’s most notorious scam artist, Donald Trump, is once again the subject of a criminal investigation into his shady business dealings. It is endlessly perplexing that there are still rubes who fall for the swindles perpetrated by Trump, who has presided of multiple bankruptcies, fraudulent charities, fake universities, and grifting operations whose only purpose was to deceitfully enrich himself.

The latest con game played by Trump is his already dreadfully failing Twitter ripoff, TRUTH Social. This project grew out of Trump’s desire to seek revenge on Twitter for banning him due to his repeated lying and violence-inciting disinformation. With the founding of his Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG), the recidivist racketeer sought to further the fleecing of his dimwitted disciples.

Part of the plot included taking the scheme public by merging with a shell company, Digital World Acquisition Corp (DWAC). Now DWAC and its board of directors have been subpoenaed by a federal Grand Jury in New York. According to CNBC…

“A federal criminal investigation is threatening the proposed merger between former President Donald Trump’s social media enterprise and a special purpose acquisition company, a deal that would give the combined company access to billions of dollars in public markets.

“That company, Digital World Acquisition Corp., revealed in a securities filing Monday that it became aware on June 16 that each member of its board of directors received subpoenas from a federal grand jury in New York.”

In addition to the Grand Jury proceedings, the SEC is investigating whether TMTG and DWAC executives improperly coordinated with each other and engaged in insider trading. They have also partnered with a Chinese firm with a dubious legal past. And the SEC filing even mentions Trump’s prior business failures.

These probes have contributed to the cratering of the value of Trump’s crime vehicle, DWAC. It has declined by more than 75% since March. And that’s even after Trump began posting on TRUTH Social – or perhaps because of it. He now says that he will never return to Twitter. But like everything else he says, that can hardly be trusted. He is also appealing the dismissal of his ludicrous lawsuit alleging that Twitter violated his free speech rights by banning him.

With each new day there seems be a new crime that Trump is being investigated for. His long list of illegalities incudes financial scams, political malfeasance, and sexual assaults. And with every discovery of his legal and personal depravity, he whines that he is the victim of a “hoax” or a “witch hunt.” However, his complaints might be more credible if there weren’t so much witchcraft being revealed.

UPDATE: It turns out that Trump bailed on his crooked company. Just weeks before the subpoenas were served, Trump removed himself and Don Jr from the board of TMTG. He is also no longer named as the company’s chairman. Unfortunately for him, all of the criminal activity took place while he was in still charge. So if he thinks he can escape legal liability, he’s going to be sorely disappointed.

Trump’s Twitter Ripoff (TRUTH Social) Has Lost 36% of its Value Since He Began Posting On It

The myth of Donald Trump’s popularity is rapidly unwinding. Sure, he may still hold a few braindead cult disciples in a hypnotic trance, and he continues to recruit more violent insurrectionists with unethical and unfulfillable promises of future pardons, but the rest of the nation is increasingly anxious to be rid of him.

Recent polling shows that voters are more likely to support Democrats when they are told that the alternative is Republicans who are beholden to Trump and his Ultra-MAGA agenda. And the hearings being held by the House Select Committee investigating the deadly January 6th insurrection incited by Trump are turning public opinion against him. Those hearings are only at the half way point, with many more witnesses and incriminating revelations to come. Meanwhile, nearly 6 in 10 Americans say that Trump should charged criminally for his role in the Capitol Hill riots.

In the midst of his crumbling congregation of crackpots, Trump is frantically posting on his Twitter clone, TRUTH Social, to try to shore up support and garner some of the infatuation that his fetid ego feeds on. Unfortunately for Trump, that miserably failing social mess isn’t going to provide the blind idolatry that he craves. It has failed to attract much of an audience, and the financial foundations underpinning its operation are rotting to the core.

TRUTH Social was announced in October of 2021, and Trump posted on it one time, then disappeared for months. More recently he declared that he would never return to Twitter, even if Elon Musk’s bid to acquire it were successful (which is doubtful).

At the beginning of June Trump finally began to patronize his website and the lonely Deplorables who reside there. His postings were typically festering with rage and riddled with lies. But his presence seems to have had an adverse affect on the site’s fortunes, or lack thereof. Since Trump began posting regularly, the shell company, Digital World Acquisition Corporation (DWAC), that was expected to take the business public, has declined in value by 36%. That’s just in the two weeks that Trump has been posting.

Apparently Trump’s dimwit-icisms didn’t do much to boost interest in this debacle. Not that it was especially prosperous before. It has declined by more than 80% since its high mark last October. And the reasons are pretty obvious. For one thing, the company is being investigated by the Securities and Exchange Commission for possible fraud.

What’s more, with Trump posting his tedious whines about having lost the 2020 presidential election, and his infantile insults directed at anyone who is less than worshipful, how could anyone stay interested for long? For instance, his last posting exemplifies the problem…

“I have sooo many witnesses to everything good, but the highly partisan and one sided Unselect Committee of political hacks has not (sic) interest in hearing or seeing them. This Witch Hunt could all be ended quickly if they did!”

For the record, the Committee is not only interested in hearing from Trump’s witnesses, they subpoenaed many of them. Most refused to comply. They include his White House and campaign staffers Peter Navarro, Dan Scavino, Mark Meadows, Stephen Bannon, and Rudy Giuliani. Also Trump supporters in Congress Kevin McCarthy, Andy Biggs, Jim Jordan, Scott Perry, Ronny Jackson, and Mo Brooks. Of the Trump insiders who did show (Bill Barr, Bill Stepien, Greg Jacob, and Michael Luttig), they offered testimony that mainly contributed to the abundant evidence of Trump’s guilt.

If Trump really wants the Committee to hear his side of the story, he could direct his supporters to stop obstructing and agree to testify. He won’t. Better yet, he could volunteer to testify himself. The Committee would welcome him and give him as much time as he wants. But that would require him to have the courage to show up and tell the truth – two personality traits that he has never had.

However, Trump can be expected to keep whining to his followers online, because that’s a trait that he acknowledged is one of his best when he bragged that “I am the most fabulous whiner.”

Trump Rants Hysterically as His PRAVDA Social Bans Users Who Post the Truth About January 6th

It was just a matter of time before the truth came out about TRUTH Social, the Twitter clone that Donald Trump launched in order to assuage his massive, yet fragile, ego after being exiled from Twitter. The site was disingenuously flaunted as a would-be bastion of free speech where anything goes including, apparently, blatant lies and undisguised racism.

Well, it didn’t take long for those deliberate misrepresentations to be revealed as nothing but empty hype and exploitation. With the commencement of the House Select Committee’s hearings on the January 6th insurrection that Trump incited (and is now typically calling a hoax), Trump has gone totally off the rails as his fear of finally being held accountable for his crimes kicks in. Despite the fact that Fox ‘News’ refused to cover the hearings live, Trump knows that the American people are watching the drama that’s unfolding and that his treachery will be the key plot point.

The first order of business was to excise any truthful discussion of the hearings from his TRUTH(less) (anti)Social scam site. Variety is reporting that…

“The irony is rich: Truth Social, Donald Trump’s Twitter copycat claiming it is ‘free from political discrimination,’ has reportedly banned users who posted information from Thursday’s congressional hearing on the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol — in which the former president is a key player.”

Surprised? You shouldn’t be. The site was never intended to be a free speech platform. It’s terms of service state that users cannot “disparage, tarnish, or otherwise harm, in our opinion, us or the Site.” So in order to use the site you must first agree to never criticize Trump. Unflinching fealty to Dear Leader Trump is demanded, and any disobedience will be punished. And offenders are already facing the consequences of infidelity.

What’s more, Trump himself divulged the actual purpose of the site when he declared that he would never return to Twitter, even if Elon Musk’s sketchy bid to acquire it is successful and his suspension is revoked. “TRUTH is a platform for my voice,” Trump told Fox News, adding that “TRUTH Social will be a voice for me.” So like everything else in his world, it’s all about Trump.

In an effort to deflect from the facts being exposed in the hearings, Trump is lashing out wildly with ever more deranged allegations of the 2020 presidential election being “rigged” and “stolen” from him. He’s posted a flurry of fantastical fiction that he calls a “massive amount of irrefutable evidence” of election fraud. Never mind that it’s been repeatedly refuted by more than sixty court cases and many high level officials from his own administration.

Meanwhile, Trump’s Twitter ban defying spokes-shill dropped 35 tweets in less than hour, after promising to abandon Twitter for Trump’s site. Most of her tweets were retweets of her own election lies dating back as much as year. This is just another part of Trump’s futile effort to shift attention away from his treasonous guilt. But the only thing that it accomplishes is to make him look more guilty and more pathetically desperate.

Trump Could Make TRUTH Social Pay Him for Content, Even If it’s Dishonest, Illegal, or Immoral

The more we learn about Donald Trump’s Twitter clone, TRUTH Social, the more it appears to be just another in a long line of scams by Trump whose only purpose is to fatten his wallet and fleece his half-witted flock. The Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), his social media venture, is heading down the same corrupt path as his phony university and his fraudulent charity.

Mother Jones is reporting on a recent filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission by Digital World Acquisition Corp (DWAC), the shady shell company that Trump is using to give his enterprise a presence on Wall Street. And, as revealed in the filing, the terms of the licensing agreement with Trump have all of the elements of the unscrupulous brand of business affairs that are the hallmarks of Trump’s malpractice. To begin with, the filling notes that…

“TMTG’s future success will depend, to a significant extent, upon the continued presence and popularity of President Trump. If President Trump were to discontinue his relationship with TMTG due to death, disability, or any other reason, or limit his involvement with TMTG due to becoming a candidate for political office, TMTG would be significantly disadvantaged.”

Relying on Trump’s popularity is a profoundly shaky foundation for success. The twice-impeached, former reality TV game show host lost the popular vote twice and never had an approval rating that approached 50%. A majority of Americans say he’s responsible for the violent January 6th insurrection. And even 49% of Republicans don’t want him to run in 2024.

What’s the more, the prospects of Trump discontinuing his relationship with his site for the reasons stated (“death, disability, or any other reason”) are almost inevitable. And in any case, Trump isn’t even obligated to post anything at all on the site. However, the filing notes that the site may be obligated to pay him for posting content. So he has wrangled another way to squeeze dough from his dimwit disciples. And the substance of the content he provides has no ethical boundaries. According the the filing…

“TMTG has entered into a license agreement with President Trump wherein neither the personal nor political conduct of President Trump, even if such conduct could negatively reflect on TMTG’s reputation or brand or be considered offensive, dishonest, illegal, immoral, or unethical, or otherwise harmful to TMTG’s brand or reputation, shall be considered a breach of the license agreement.”

That’s a necessary contractual provision with Trump, since he is notorious for “offensive, dishonest, illegal, [and] immoral” conduct. Even now the SEC is investigating whether TMTG and DWAC executives improperly coordinated with each other and engaged in insider trading. They have also partnered with a Chinese firm with a dubious legal past. And the filing even mentions Trump’s prior business failures including…

“…the bankruptcies of Trump Taj Mahal, Trump Plaza, and Trump Castle, and the failures of Trump University, Trump Vodka, and Trump Steaks, among others. […] Digital World said in its filing: A number of companies that were associated with President Trump have filed for bankruptcy. There can be no assurances that TMTG will not also become bankrupt.”

There is considerable speculation on Wall Street that Trump’s social media sham won’t ever get off the ground. DWAC stock price is down about 65% from its recent high just a couple of months ago. And while Trump has said that he won’t go back on Twitter even if Elon Musk’s bid is successful (doubtful) and his account is reinstated, he lies too much for that – or anything else he says – to be taken seriously.

Meanwhile, Trump’s Twitter ban defying spokes-shill, Liz Harrington, has announced that “I will soon no longer be posting on Twitter. This is a terrible website that is beyond fixing.” She doesn’t say how soon “soon” is (and she is just as likely to be lying as Trump), but the reaction in the replies to her alleged farewell announcement are enthusiastically supportive and downright gleeful:

Elon Musk’s Bid for Twitter is in Big Trouble, and So is Trump’s TRUTH Social

It was only one month ago that Elon Musk announced that he intended to acquire Twitter and take the company private. It was an audacious move that, from the start, didn’t make much sense financially. However, it did affirm the enormity of Musk’s ego and his desire to make influential social media companies his plaything.

Musk made his intention to buy Twitter public after he had already purchased 73 millions shares of the company, a 9.2% stake. He is currently being investigated by the Securities and Exchange Commission for having failed to file the required disclosures of that stock purchase. But that’s only the tip of his troubles.

On Friday morning Musk tweeted that he is putting the “Twitter deal temporarily on hold pending details supporting calculation that spam/fake accounts do indeed represent less than 5% of users.””

Due to the characteristically cryptic nature of that comment, and the trading chaos it could provoke, Musk later tried to clarify himself, tweeting that he is “Still committed to the acquisition.” However, his pausing the acquisition bid, as well as his stated reasoning for doing it, are both profoundly specious.

First of all, Musk’s claim that he’s hesitating as a result of a report that fewer than 5% of Twitter’s accounts are spam or fake is difficult to take seriously. The scale of potential fake accounts on Twitter is not news. In fact, Twitter has reported it in its quarterly and annual reports to the SEC for at least two years. So either Musk entered into this $44 billion deal without doing the most basic research and due diligence, or he’s lying.

Much of Musk’s financing for Twitter is backed by his stock in Tesla. So if Musk didn’t previously know that there are fake accounts on Twitter, he was neglectfully putting the value of Tesla at risk and would be liable to shareholders for losses. If he did know, then he is likely trying to back out of the deal without having to pay the $1 billion break up fee.

Why would Musk want to back out now, so soon after initiating this deal? It might have something to do with the reaction on Wall Street to his plans. Musk’s offer for Twitter was $54.00 per share. On April 14, when he announced his intentions, Twitter was trading at about $45.00 per share. Since then it has dropped to about $41.00, or about 12%. And it’s down more than 40% from its recent high eight months ago. The fact that the market isn’t willing to pay the offer price of $54.00 is a pretty good indicator that they don’t think the deal will ever go through.

What’s more, the price of Tesla has also declined precipitously. It was trading at about $985.00 when Musk revealed his interest in Twitter in April. It’s down to about $780 now, a drop of about 20%. And it’s down more than 42% from its recent high three months ago. Since Musk is using his Tesla stock to finance the Twitter acquisition, and Tesla’s stock has dropped substantially, the Twitter purchase price becomes much greater for Musk. Which is further evidence that he may be trying to ditch the deal.

So how would all of this affect Donald Trump’s Twitter clone, TRUTH Social? Theoretically, any weakness in its biggest competitor should be a positive for the TRUTH(less) app. However, the shady shell company that is serving as Trump’s vehicle for the enterprise, Digital World Acquisition Corp (DWAC) has been trading down ever since Musk’s Twitter bid became public. On April 14, it was at about $50.00 per share. Now it’s at about $40.00, a 20% drop. And from its recent high of around $100.00 just a couple of months ago, it’s down a whopping 60%.

Apparently Wall Street doesn’t have any more confidence in another Trump boondoggle, than they do in Musk’s deal. And it appears to be irrelevant that Musk promised to restore Trump’s Twitter account when – make that if – he takes over. Trump has already said that he would not return to Twitter, even if his account were reinstated.

That, of course, is probably another Trump lie. There is no way that he would be satisfied with a few thousand followers on TRUTH Social if he could regain his 84 million followers on Twitter. But he can’t say that now or it would appear that he favors the competition. So the grift goes on – for both Trump and Musk.

UPDATE: Trump has weighed in saying that…

“There is no way Elon Musk is going to buy Twitter at such a ridiculous price, especially since realizing it is a company largely based on BOTS or Spam Accounts. Fake anyone? Trump used to brag about his gazillions of Twitter followers. Now he is asserting that they are “largely based on BOTS or Spam Accounts.” He’s also dramatically exaggerating the reported 5% as “largely”. But then he’s never been very good – or honest – with numbers (see his crowd size estimates and property values). And TRUTH social is already crawling with fake accounts. The site even “verified” a fake Fox News account.

Trump Declares that ‘I Am Not Going Back On Twitter’ After the Elon Musk Takeover

America’s oligarchy is exercising it’s privilege once again as the world’s richest man drops a few of his billions of dollars to add Twitter to the playroom in his ultra-exclusive world. Elon Musk’s acquisition of the social media giant is profoundly significant due to its influence on politics, journalism, and culture.

The debate over how dangerous this is for society in America – and the world – is complex and will unfold in the weeks to come as Musk’s intentions are revealed. However, in the short term we already have some news about a famous former tweeter. Donald Trump didn’t waste any time telling Fox News (who else) what the Musk acquisition means to him. According to Fox News…

“Former President Trump will not return to Twitter, even as Elon Musk purchases the social media company and reinstates his account, instead using his own TRUTH Social as the sole platform for his voice. […] The former president told Fox News Monday that he will formally join his own TRUTH Social over the next seven days, as planned.

“‘I am not going on Twitter, I am going to stay on TRUTH,’ Trump told Fox News. ‘I hope Elon buys Twitter because he’ll make improvements to it and he is a good man, but I am going to be staying on TRUTH.’ […] He added: ‘The bottom line is, no, I am not going back to Twitter.'”

Let’s set aside for the time being that Trump lies far too often to take anything he says seriously. If Twitter were to offer to reinstate his account, it’s ridiculous to suggest that he would rebuff the offer because he’s “staying on TRUTH” Social (TS). How can he “stay” on a platform that he has posted on only once nearly two months ago, and from which he has been conspicuously absent ever since? He couldn’t even get the name straight at his recent rally, calling it “Troth Sential.”

Trump was, and is, a Twitter addict (his spokes-shill still posts for him daily in defiance of Twitter’s own rules). And he isn’t likely to trade access to his 84 million Twitter followers (most of which were bots or fakes) for a fraction of that on TS. Trump went on to say that…

“‘We’re taking in millions of people, and what we’re finding is that the response on TRUTH is much better than being on Twitter,’ Trump said. ‘Twitter has bots and fake accounts, and we are doing everything we can.'”

Actually, TS has assigned a little over a million wait list numbers to people who have tried to sign up. Most of them still have not been able to log on. And as for fake accounts, there have already been a multitude of them on TS. The site even “verified” a Fox News account that Fox denied having anything to do with.

What’s more, there is so little interaction on TS that the users who are online have complained that it is an echo chamber of fellow cultists whose homogeneous agreement is terminally boring. And now Trump is promising that it’s going to get even worse…

“‘This is a platform for my voice. TRUTH is a platform for my voice and for my supporters,’ Trump said. ‘But I want everybody to come over to TRUTH—conservatives, liberals, whatever. […] ‘TRUTH Social will be a voice for me,’ Trump continued. ‘And that’s something nobody else can get.'”

It isn’t an accident that Trump keeps referring to the site as simply “TRUTH.” There is nothing “Social” about it. Like everything else in Trump World, it is about him and only him. And he isn’t shy about saying so explicitly.

The worst part of all of this, from Trump’s perspective, is that the site may never even become viable. The shell company that is serving as its Wall Street proxy (DWAC) declined another 12.9% today. It has cratered 64% since the beginning of March. Reuters is reporting that key personnel are abandoning ship and that…

“Another open question is how TMTG is funding its current growth. The company is planning to go public through a merger with blank-check firm Digital World Acquisition Corp (DWAC) . The deal is under scrutiny by the Securities and Exchange Commission and is likely months away from being finalized. […] Investors have pledged $1 billion to TMTG but they won’t hand over that money until the DWAC deal closes.”

So the the Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG) and DWAC deal is likely another illegal Trump scam that will never go through. And when it fails Trump won’t get any of the money that has allegedly been pledged. More likely it will result in investor lawsuits that will cost him and his accomplices a fortune.

As for Twitter’s future under Musk, Jessica J. González of Free Press recently published an editorial that exposes how truly awful the site could be under Musk. She wrote that…

“Musk’s ability to be an accountable steward of this massive online community is questionable at best. […] he has a poor track record of protecting other Twitter users and respecting their free speech. He has used the platform to discredit and disparage those who disagree with him, and he has lashed out at journalists who have written or produced things he didn’t like.”

Musk’s pretense of advocating for free speech is utterly insincere. It is a pathway to tolerating hate speech and disinformation that divides people and incites violence. It would make Twitter unbearable for most decent users, as well as advertisers. And it doesn’t help that Musk has been sued for “racial discrimination and harassment after finding a widespread pattern of mistreatment of Black workers” at his Tesla plant. So look for Twitter to collapse unless its executives and board of directors manage to keep Musk’s worst instincts in check.

Trump Celebrates (and Lies About) CNN+ Shutting Down While Ignoring His TRUTH Social Fiasco

Thursday morning the new management team at Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD), the newly merged combination of WarnerMedia and Discovery Networks, announced that CNN’s streaming channel, CNN+, will be shutting down at the end of April. It was startling news about the new service that was only launched three weeks ago.

According to CNN’s own reporting, the decision to end the venture was due to WBD’s incoming CEO David Zaslav’s plan to house all of the company’s brands under one streaming service. Zaslav said that…

“In a complex streaming market, consumers want simplicity and an all-in service which provides a better experience and more value than stand-alone offerings […] We have very exciting opportunities ahead in the streaming space and CNN, one of the world’s premier reputational assets, will play an important role there.”

While the strategic logic of that position is apparent, it cannot be understated how sloppily this matter was executed. The new CEO of CNN, Chris Licht, conceded that it was a “uniquely shitty situation.” Elaborating, he said that CNN+ had an “incredibly successful launch” but that it was “simply incompatible with the newly merged company’s plans.” Despite the turmoil, there are expectations that much of the new programming will still be part of whatever eventually emerges.

To no one’s surprise, Donald Trump weighed in on this news with his customary noxious bluster. He posted a tweet (via his Twitter ban defying spokes-shill) that completely distorted the facts and demonstrated his distinctive brand of flagrant dishonesty. Trump ranted…

“Congratulations to CNN+ on their decision to immediately FOLD for a lack of ratings, or viewers in any way, shape, or form. It was like an empty desert out there despite spending hundreds of millions of dollars and the hiring of low-rated Chris Wallace, a man who tried so hard to be his father, Mike, but lacked the talent and whatever else is necessary to be a star. In any event, it’s just one more piece of CNN and Fake News that we don’t have to bother with anymore!”

Trump’s first lie in that outburst is that CNN+ folded “for a lack of ratings.” And the way we know that’s true is because there are no ratings for streaming apps. Trump is, once again, just making stuff up. The truth is that CNN+ signed up more than 100,000 viewers in three short weeks, well within their projections. And the service will undoubtedly relaunch when WBD finalizes the unified format for its streaming programming.

If Trump is really interested in identifying “an empty desert” in the media world, all he has to do is check in with his own parched and barren “TRUTH Social” Twitter clone. To date it has failed spectacularly. It cannot attract users. Even the users who have already signed up can’t log on. Trump himself doesn’t use the site.

Trump is said to be furious that his attempt at revenge against Twitter for banning him has cratered so badly. The Daily Beast reports that Trump has been overheard on the phone “swearing gratuitously” and asking “What the f*ck is going on?” with TRUTH Social.

That, however, is a question Trump should already know the answer to, considering that he has a notorious record for catastrophic business failures that is unparalleled in modern times. His numerous, and narcissistically self-branded projects – from casinos to airlines to games to steaks to vodka – all ended in humiliation and ruin. Even his prized real estate ventures have proven to be duds.

The man Trump put at the helm of TRUTH(less) Anti(Social), Devin Nunes has been making desperate trips to Fox News where he could lie unchallenged about the site’s “success.” But anyone foolish enough to invest in the venture has likely lost a bundle. The site keeps missing launch dates, and it is currently being investigated by the Securities and Exchange Commission for “irregularities.”

One fund manager is predicting that the stock serving as the investment vehicle for TRUTH Social will fall to $10.00 and will fail to complete its merger with Trump’s company. It has already declined 67% from it’s high at the beginning of March.

The mess that WBD has made of the CNN+ launch may be costly and embarrassing, but it is temporary and the parent corporation has deep pockets. It will recover and offer its media products in a new and profitable form. But Trump’s ventures are permanently hobbled by his incompetence and inability to manage a successful business of any kind. The only thing he’s any good at is whining and flinging impotent insults as his enemies. Which is all he’s doing here.

SRSLY? Trump’s TRUTH Social Boss, Devin Nunes, Tells Fox News that ‘Twitter is a Ghost Town’

What do wingnut Republican scam artists do when their much ballyhooed business ventures go bust? Well, if you’re Devin Nunes, the former congressman and fake farmer who is now the CEO of Donald Trump’s pathetic Twitter clone, TRUTH Social, you go on Fox News and tell flagrant lies about how successful you are.

Trump’s TRUTH(less) (Anti)Social ME-dia platform is proving to be the biggest bomb on his wretched resume that already includes shuttered operations for his self-branded casinos, steaks, vodka, airlines, and universities. Nunes was unable to deliver on his promise that the site would be fully open for business by the end of March. Losers -er- users have been unable to log on. It has seen its signups decline by 93% since its “soft” launch..

Trump doesn’t even use the site. He posted a single “truth” a month ago and hasn’t been back to tend to his flock since. Therefore, Nunes (or perhaps Trump) determined that it was time to hit Fox News with some Grade A BS. He visited with Fox’s Senior Trump-Fluffer Maria Bartiromo (fresh off of fretting that Obama is secretly running the country) and unloaded these whoppers:

Bartiromo: What is your reaction to Elon Musk taking a 9% stake in one of your competitors, certainly, Twitter.
Nunes: I think it’s very interesting because the goal that president Trump has, and I have, and our team here at TRUTH Social, is to open the Internet back up so that the American people can get their voice back. So it’s clear that Twitter is kind of a ghost town. They desperately need Elon Musk to be there, so it’s probably something that Elon wants to do. He probably believes in free speech like we do. But at the same time there’s not very much activity over at Twitter right now, especially when you compare it to sites like ours where we’re just in our beginning stages as we continue to test and bring people on day by day. Our interactions are already beating twitter.'”

So according to Nunes “Twitter is kind of a ghost town,” where there is “not very much activity.” Those lies are demonstrably untrue. But they weren’t enough for Nunes. He had to elaborate with the ludicrous assertion that TRUTH Social’s “interactions are already beating twitter.” Which should make one wonder what fumes he has been inhaling.

Even Trump has noticed the stink that TRUTH Social is emitting. He is said to be furious about the site’s failure, berating his aides and demanding to know “What the f*ck is going on?” Meanwhile, anyone who invested in Trump’s boondoggle has probably lost a bundle. News Corpse reported recently that the stock of the sham that was set up as a holding company for the business had dropped by some 37% in the first two weeks of March. It’s now down more than 50%. And according to Reuters, key personnel are abandoning ship. They also reported that…

Which, in all likelihood, was the only reason he got involved in it to begin with. And if Trump gets skunked, look for Nunes to be back in the fields with the cows he tried to sue.
