Jen Psaki Shreds Texas Gov. Abbott’s Publicity Stunts that are Hurting Texas and America

The Republican Party of Donald Trump has become so enthralled with Dear Leader that they have abandoned any pretense to actually governing or developing policies that benefit the American people. Their entire political platform now consists solely of fawning adorations of Trump and vicious defamatory attacks on Democrats.

Psaki Lightening

Among the most brazen and shameless Trump-fluffers is Texas governor Greg Abbott. And this week he appears to be mounting a major offensive to test just how much he can offend his constituents before they send him into a disgraced retirement. Ignoring all of the real issues that are on the minds of the citizens in his state, Abbott is pursuing a pair of pointless initiatives aimed only at generating the interest of Fox News and other rightist media hacks.

RELATED: Texas Governor Whines to Fox News, Blames Biden, After Recklessly Revoking COVID Rules

Abbott began the week by announcing that he intended to load migrants onto buses and transport them from Texas to Washington, D.C. There is, of course, no legal or administrative purpose to this policy. It would only serve to waste Texas taxpayer dollars in a petty and futile effort to embarrass President Biden. It would, however, achieve the goal of placing the migrants in a jurisdiction where they will be treated humanely according to the law and the Constitution. Which is surely not what Abbott intended.

What Abbott intended was to manufacture a publicity stunt that would dehumanize refugees from poverty and violence. And the evidence of his publicity motivation was apparent when the first bus arrived in Washington and parked in front of Fox News, as reported by John Roberts of Fox News:

White House Press Secretary, Jen Psaki, was asked about this ludicrous relocation program by Fox’s Peter Doocy. She replied that…

“I’m not aware of what authority the governor would be doing that under. I think it’s pretty clear this is a publicity stunt. His own office admits that a migrant would need to voluntarily be transported, and he can’t compel them to because, again, enforcement of our country’s immigration laws lies with the federal government, not a state.”

Not satisfied with humiliating himself by providing free bus rides to willing migrants, Abbott moved on to implement a costly, unpopular, and useless border inspection plan. He described this staged media affair as “enhanced safety inspections” to catch “cartels that smuggle illicit contraband and people across our southern border.” The only problem with that is his phony inspections cannot do what he said they do. His Democratic opponent for governor, Beto O’Rourke, spelled out what a fraud it was on “The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell,” saying that…

“These trucks that Greg Abbott has blockaded from coming into the United States are carrying parts that are destined for factories in San Antonio where we build the Toyota Tundra and Tacoma, to factories in Ohio and Michigan and other parts of this country. It’s gonna jeopardize jobs throughout this state and throughout the United States of America, for that matter. It’s gonna increase prices at our grocery stores even higher. And it’s worsening a supply chain problem that we already had. And this didn’t have to happen.”

O’Rourke goes on to point out that Abbott’s inspections only check on things like tire pressure and how the engine runs. In fact, Abbott’s inspectors are not even permitted to look inside the cargo area for drugs or human trafficking. And this boondoggle was also addressed by Jen Psaki, who issued the following statement from the White House:

“Governor Abbott’s unnecessary and redundant inspections of trucks transiting ports of entry between Texas and Mexico are causing significant disruptions to the food and automobile supply chains, delaying manufacturing, impacting jobs, and raising prices for families in Texas and across the country.” […]

“[T]rucks are facing lengthy delays exceeding 5 hours at some border crossings and commercial traffic has dropped by as much as 60 percent. […] Abbott’s actions are impacting people’s jobs, and the livelihoods of hardworking American families. “

RELATED: Gov. Abbott and Fox News Callously Exploits Deadly Winter Storms to Attack Green New Deal

All of this just makes it more clear that Abbott and his Republican comrades are only interested in maligning their political foes and damaging the country so that they can blame the harm on Democrats. And rather than working on plausible solutions to the nation’s problems, they orchestrate publicity stunts designed to deceive the public and get them more time on Fox News.

That is not an agenda that the people of Texas, or America, should support. And, hopefully, they will come out in historic numbers in November to vote against the Republicans who are so determinedly working against the people.

UPDATE: Abbott has already caved in and canceled his “enhanced” inspections, likely due to the avalanche of criticism he received from both Democrats and Republicans.

Trump Posts ‘Foolproof’ Evidence that the Election Was ‘Rigged’ But it’s Only Proof for Fools

Sixteen months after the 2020 presidential election Donald Trump is still whining petulantly about the election being “rigged” and “stolen” from him. In all of that time – including more than 60 court challenges – he has failed utterly to produce a shred of evidence. He has succeeding only in establishing himself as the biggest sore loser in American politics. Even his cult followers are bored with his schtick.

Click here to Tweet this article

Donald Trump

Trump’s persistence in this lost cause continued Tuesday with a post by his Twitter ban defying spokes-shill, Liz Harrington. The tweet made some emphatic declarations regarding his insistence that the election was rife with voter fraud. He said that…

“This is 100% conclusive and determinative evidence. When will the Republicans finally act. Not only was the 2020 Election Rigged, but they’ll do it again. Leadership, for once, must step up to the plate and hit the ball out of the park. This is your chance. The people, who are disgusted with your weakness and indifference, are waiting. Schumer and Pelosi would never stand for this if it were the other way around. This is ‘foolproof,’ on video tape for everyone to see. Do something!”

Not surprisingly, what Trump is describing as “100% conclusive and determinative evidence” is neither conclusive nor determinative. It isn’t even evidence. Trump is regurgitating the results of a thoroughly disreputable pack of prevaricators known deceitfully as “True the Vote.” These election truthers put together a video collage of what they claimed were people committing felony voter fraud by depositing multiple absentee ballots in drop boxes in Georgia.

The only problem with that accusation is that everything seen on the videos was perfectly legal. According to Georgia law

“…mailing or delivery [of absentee ballots] may be made by the elector’s mother, father, grandparent, aunt, uncle, brother, sister, spouse, son, daughter, niece, nephew, grandchild, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, or an individual residing in the household of such elector.”

Additional authorized persons include caretakers for the disabled and employees of hospitals and prisons for voters thus confined. Nothing in Trump’s so-called “evidence” indicated that anyone depositing the ballots was not legally permitted to do so. What’s more, there was no way of knowing who the votes were for on those ballots. So even if the persons depositing them in the drop boxes were unauthorized, they may have been Trump voters who were in violation of the law. Which, more often than not, is the case.

And that’s not all. When Trump promised a couple of weeks ago that this allegedly incriminating evidence would be released, he said that it would reveal “four or five million people cheating.” Obviously, it would be impossible for that many ballots to be stuffed into the drop boxes. And, once again, since we still wouldn’t know who the votes were for, there’s no way the election outcome could be altered.

Nevertheless, on the basis of this baloney, Trump is demanding that some ambiguous “Leadership” figure “step up to the plate” and take some unspecified action. There is, of course, no legal path to the remedies that Trump and his cronies have babbled about for the past year, such as decertifying the election and coronating himself as King of America. It’s just more of the seditious coup plotting that Don Trump Jr was recently caught engaging in.

So Trump’s latest sorry attempt at proving that the election was rigged has just turned out to be another pathetic sham orchestrated by some really bad con artists. Who would have thought that such a conclusion to a Trump project would end up this big a failure?

Fox News Putin Puppet Tucker Carlson’s False Flag Fiction Gets Ripped By CNN’s Jim Acosta

Tucker Carlson of Fox News must be so proud. He has achieved his life long dream. He has become the most watched American television commentator – on Russian television. Carlson achieved that milestone by his continuous and effusive praise for Vladimir Putin. And Russian TV has returned the favor.

Click here to Tweet this article

Fox News, Tucker Carlson, Bullshit Factory

On Sunday, Jim Acosta of CNN took note of Carlson’s pro-Putin propaganda. While responsible journalists worldwide were documenting the war crimes being committed by Russian troops on Putin’s orders, Carlson was attempting to whitewash the matter and absolve Putin of any guilt by advancing the utterly baseless assertion that Ukraine was staging some of the scenes of horror. Carlson didn’t present a single shred of evidence of his grotesque accusation. But he was, nevertheless, “dead certain” of it, as he told his gullible viewers.

REALTED: WTF? Fox News Traitor Tucker Carlson Takes Russia’s Side Against Democracy and America

Acosta delivered a seething commentary that exposed Carlson’s treasonous betrayal of American interests and, more importantly, the welfare of the Ukrainian people who are being slaughtered by Putin’s genocidal militia. Acosta said that…

Acosta: With reports about Russian atrocities mounting, the truth about Putin’s invasion is beyond dispute. Much of the world has agreed that Putin’s army has committed war crimes by blatantly attacking civilians in Ukraine. Unless you happen to get your news in Russian. Then there’s Tucker Carlson, who has accused news outlets of lying about what’s really happening in Ukraine.

Carlson: If news organizations are eagerly promoting lies about a war in progress, what can the rest of us believe? What can we know is true? And honestly, it’s hard to know what is true. We can be sure Russian soldiers have committed atrocities. There are countless pictures of that. Some must be real. But we can also be dead certain the war is not, despite what they tell us, a childish tale of good versus evil. This is Eastern Europe, after all. Everything is a lot more complicated than it looks on America TV.

Acosta went on to note that Carlson’s caustic lecturing was “A reminder that this is the same commentator who said in 2019 that he was rooting for Russia over Ukraine.” And then getting to the core of Carlson’s repulsiveness, Acosta said that…

“Last week Tucker Carlson tried to imply that some of what you are seeing has been fabricated and amplified by news organizations. That sounds a lot like what we heard from Putin’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, who said that bodies of Ukrainian civilians lining the streets of Bucha were, quote, a forgery aimed at denigrating the Russian army.”

This isn’t the first time that Carlson has spread flagrant lies about imaginary “false flag” operations. Last year he produced an entire crocumentary about the January 6th insurrection that he claimed was a false flag affair staged by the FBI. It was also not the first time that Acosta has hammered Carlson for being what he colorfully christened a Human Manure Spreader.” Then, on Sunday, Acosta closed by saying that…

“News organizations are not repeating lies, as Tucker Carlson put it. Innocent people, children, are being targeted in Ukraine. There is nothing childish about that. And journalists are putting their lives on the line to tell the truth. Something you’d think that Tucker would know, considering some of the journalists injured or killed bravely reporting the truth worked for Fox.”

It shouldn’t surprise anyone that Fox News is complicit in this junkyard journalism. It is what they specialize in. And it is why President Biden was so right when he said that Fox News is “one of the most destructive forces in the U.S.”

Boring Biden? Fox News is Very Upset that Biden Isn’t a Hyper-Psycho Drama Queen Like Trump

When Fox News isn’t complaining that President Biden is mentally incompetent (a diagnosis that the American people find more applicable to Donald Trump), they are grousing about how he is an over zealous radical tyrant riding roughshod over conservative “values.” How he can be both an addled wimp and an evil genius remains a mystery.

Joe Biden, Donald Trump

The whiners at Fox News don’t really care if their criticisms are true, or even if they make sense. The only thing that matters is that they have a rhetorical cudgel with which to beat up on Biden. And even when they have nothing, they will try to deploy that nothingness as a weapon. It’s a pathetic tactic that only exposes how vacant their political strategies are. And leading Fox News in the cognitive vacancy department is their Primetime host, Jesse Watters.

RELATED: Trump’s Twitter Proxy Implies Biden is Mentally Unsound for Referring to Notes, But Guess What?

On Friday evening Watters was clearly out of political spitballs. So he resorted to the hackery that the absence of scandal is scandalous. His harangue (video below) was based on an article in Politico, a source usually regarded as “fake” news by the Fox set. Except when they think they can spin it to their advantage. He began with an old and regularly recurring trope that Biden is “just boring,” and elaborated saying that…

“…he promised to be boring, and he’s doing everything he can to keep that pledge. And they’re not wrong. Joe doesn’t even schmooze these peeps in D.C. And for a Democrat, that is a sin. He spends almost every weekend in Delaware. The guy just loves his basement. Presidents are supposed to excite the Washington establishment, but Joe is doing the exact opposite.”

RELATED: Fox News Attempts (and Hysterically Fails) to Contrive a Fake Biden Scandal

Apparently Watters believes that it’s the President’s job to “schmooze” the elites in Washington. And if he isn’t doing that, he’s derelict in his duties. Although that standard was never in place for Trump, whose social interactions with anyone who wasn’t a slobbering sycophant were invariably disastrous and vulgar. What’s more, Watters complains that Biden was holed up in his basement. That, of course, is a routine right-wing lie by partisans who never cared about Trump spending hundreds of days (and millions of taxpayer dollars) at his own golf resorts.

Watters also spoke of “exciting” the Washington establishment as an official duty. He lamented the lack of “presidential sightings,” “black-tie banquets,” and “Glamorous new aides, preferably with active social schedules and newsworthy romantic lives!” Unfortunately, Biden preferred to waste his time with trivialities like managing a deadly pandemic, restoring the economy, and responding to the genocidal attack by Russia on Ukraine, to name a few.

Watters was also disturbed that Biden didn’t attend the exclusive Gridiron Dinner this week. He sent Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo instead. But as Watters noted, it was a good thing that he passed, because many of the guests contracted COVID. For which Watters had another negative spin, saying – and virtually hoping – that “Eventually, Biden is going to catch COVID, it’s bound to happen and you’ll never see Biden or another party again.” Watters seems to be laying the groundwork for his next manufactured scandal.

RELATED: Fox Family Values: Tucker Carlson Viciously Mocks Media and – Biden’s Marriage?

What conservative crackpots like Watters mean when they talk about Biden being boring, is that he doesn’t excrete the same noxious hysteria and hostility that was the hallmark of the Trump era. Even Politico’s article conceded that it wasn’t so much Biden’s lack of substantive excitement, but rather engaging PR. “The majesty of the White House,” Politico wrote, “the star power of the inner circle — these are tools that can be harnessed to charm decision-makers and narrative-writers.” That’s true, but it was too nuanced for someone as shallow as Watters to wade through.

Consequently, America is saddled with the asinine assertions of cretins like Watters who struggle to invent scandals where none exist. That’s why then end up accusing Biden of such atrocities as wearing a face mask, or riding a bike, or picking a dandelion for his wife, or eating ice cream…

Fox News is STILL Pushing the Deadly Lie that COVID Vaccines Don’t Work

After more than two years of accumulated scientific research and field studies on literally billions of subjects worldwide – and more than 200,000,000 in the U.S. – Fox News is continuing to put the lives of their gullible viewers at risk by lying to them about the safety and efficacy of the COVID-19 vaccines.

Click here to Tweet this article

Fox News, Vaccine

This has been their mission from the onset of the pandemic. Fox News has persistently promulgated flagrant falsehoods about the coronavirus. They have said that it would simply go away on its own. They have peddled quack “cures” like Ivermectin. They have obediently regurgitated the asinine blathering of Donald Trump who advocated bleach injections.

RELATED: Fox News is SHOCKED that MSNBC’s Joy Reid Rightly Berated Them for Killing Off Their Audience

All of this was in complete contradiction to what the epidemiologists and health experts have said. In fact, Fox News wasn’t just disagreeing with the experts, they were maligning them as liars engaged in conspiracies to exploit vaccines as some sort of mind control program. They even compared Dr. Anthony Fauci to the sadistic Nazi doctor Joseph Mengele.

The whole world now has documented evidence that vaccines save lives. But Fox News is still stuck in their manufactured narrative that it’s all a hoax contrived by Big Pharma and evil Democrats. And they said so explicitly on Friday morning’s episode of Fox and Friends:

Brian Kilmeade: You tell us the vaccines works, then you stop talking about it. And everybody that’s testing positive for it, like Jen Psaki, four shots. So you wonder why people are having doubts about this whole two year torture, the condescending talk that we’ve been experiencing from that White House.
Ainsley Earhardt: Nancy Pelosi – vaccinated and boosted – and we do wish her well. I hope she’s okay. I wonder if she’s gonna get the monoclonals.
Kilmeade: I heard she’s asymptomatic. Most people are asymptomatic.

Right out of the gate Kilmeade is fictionalizing his rant. While health professionals are indeed telling people, correctly, that the vaccines work, no one has stopped talking about them. To the contrary, most doctors are ardently advising everyone to get vaccinated and boosted.

Kilmeade’s reference to White House Press secretary Jen Psaki exposes another of the black holes in his knowledge base. He thinks that because Psaki tested positive that the vaccines don’t work. Ditto Nancy Pelosi. And it isn’t coincidental that the examples they put forward are Democrats. Because all of this is just more partisan bullpucky aimed at disparaging their political foes.

However, anyone who has been paying attention knows that the vaccines are not a guarantee that the virus will not be transmitted. They are intended to prevent severe outcomes including hospitalization and death. That’s especially true with the newer variants of the virus. And they work extremely well in that regard.

RELATED: Tucker Carlson of Fox News Says ‘Vaccines Don’t Work and They’re Not Telling You’

What’s more, contrary to Kilmeade’s curiosity about “why people are having doubts,” no one is wondering about that. It’s crystal clear that any such doubts have been planted and nourished by people like Kilmeade on Fox News. It’s Fox News that has been been condescending by characterizing vaccines – a quick and easy way to stay healthy – as “torture.” And despite his acknowledgement that many people who test positive these days are asymptomatic, he still doesn’t get that that is because they’ve been vaccinated. The vast majority of fatalities – greater than 90% – are among the unvaccinated.

So if you are wondering why Fox News viewers and Trump followers are the biggest group of Americans suffering and dying from COVID, wonder no more. It is directly due to the knowingly dishonest and purposefully concocted disinformation that Fox News buries their audience under.

And despite all of the evidence that this is true, the callous cretins at Fox stubbornly pursue this deadly course of action without conscience or sympathy. To them it’s just another opportunity to attack Democrats for some fabricated fallacy. They couldn’t care less who it hurts.

SRSLY? Trump’s TRUTH Social Boss, Devin Nunes, Tells Fox News that ‘Twitter is a Ghost Town’

What do wingnut Republican scam artists do when their much ballyhooed business ventures go bust? Well, if you’re Devin Nunes, the former congressman and fake farmer who is now the CEO of Donald Trump’s pathetic Twitter clone, TRUTH Social, you go on Fox News and tell flagrant lies about how successful you are.

Click here to Tweet this article

Donald Trump, Devin Nunes

Trump’s TRUTH(less) (Anti)Social ME-dia platform is proving to be the biggest bomb on his wretched resume that already includes shuttered operations for his self-branded casinos, steaks, vodka, airlines, and universities. Nunes was unable to deliver on his promise that the site would be fully open for business by the end of March. Losers -er- users have been unable to log on. It has seen its signups decline by 93% since its “soft” launch..

Trump doesn’t even use the site. He posted a single “truth” a month ago and hasn’t been back to tend to his flock since. Therefore, Nunes (or perhaps Trump) determined that it was time to hit Fox News with some Grade A BS. He visited with Fox’s Senior Trump-Fluffer Maria Bartiromo (fresh off of fretting that Obama is secretly running the country) and unloaded these whoppers:

Bartiromo: What is your reaction to Elon Musk taking a 9% stake in one of your competitors, certainly, Twitter.
Nunes: I think it’s very interesting because the goal that president Trump has, and I have, and our team here at TRUTH Social, is to open the Internet back up so that the American people can get their voice back. So it’s clear that Twitter is kind of a ghost town. They desperately need Elon Musk to be there, so it’s probably something that Elon wants to do. He probably believes in free speech like we do. But at the same time there’s not very much activity over at Twitter right now, especially when you compare it to sites like ours where we’re just in our beginning stages as we continue to test and bring people on day by day. Our interactions are already beating twitter.'”

So according to Nunes “Twitter is kind of a ghost town,” where there is “not very much activity.” Those lies are demonstrably untrue. But they weren’t enough for Nunes. He had to elaborate with the ludicrous assertion that TRUTH Social’s “interactions are already beating twitter.” Which should make one wonder what fumes he has been inhaling.

Even Trump has noticed the stink that TRUTH Social is emitting. He is said to be furious about the site’s failure, berating his aides and demanding to know “What the f*ck is going on?” Meanwhile, anyone who invested in Trump’s boondoggle has probably lost a bundle. News Corpse reported recently that the stock of the sham that was set up as a holding company for the business had dropped by some 37% in the first two weeks of March. It’s now down more than 50%. And according to Reuters, key personnel are abandoning ship. They also reported that…

“Another open question is how TMTG is funding its current growth. The company is planning to go public through a merger with blank-check firm Digital World Acquisition Corp (DWAC) . The deal is under scrutiny by the Securities and Exchange Commission and is likely months away from being finalized. […] Investors have pledged $1 billion to TMTG but they won’t hand over that money until the DWAC deal closes.”

This could be the worst part of all for Trump, and an explanation for his fury. It means that he may not be able to extract his share of the ill-gotten loot. Which, in all likelihood, was the only reason he got involved in it to begin with. And if Trump gets skunked, look for Nunes to be back in the fields with the cows he tried to sue.

OH NOES! Fox News Thinks Obama is Really Running the Government – And It’s Scaring Them Witless

There are plenty of things for Fox News to be worried about these days. First and foremost is the genocidal war being waged by Russia against Ukraine, for which they are siding with Russia who is currently losing. And while the Biden economy is booming, inflation is taking away some of the glow. And a Black woman who they oppose because she’s too qualified is about to be confirmed for the Supreme Court. And Disney is too “woke” for America.

Obama Fox News

Despite all of those “woes,” Fox News has settled into an entirely different and wholly imaginary catastrophe. During a segment on their “business” channel, Fox’s Senior Trump-Fluffer, Maria Bartiromo, invited Republican Senator Marsh Blackburn to commiserate with her on a harrowing hardship that they both contrived from the thin air that is obviously depriving their brains of critical oxygen. That mental malady resulted in the following exchange:

Bartiromo: I think what’s interesting here is that now we understand that Obama is gonna have weekly meetings with Joe Biden. so if you didn’t think Obama was running the country before, maybe you can know that he’s running the country now, given his weekly meetings with Joe Biden. How do you see all of this?
Blackburn: Well, Maria, we know that Obama’s team has been calling the shots all during the Biden presidency, whether it’s Susan Rice or Valerie Jarrett or Jake Sullivan, and Ron Klain. And now in order to try to get the poll numbers up – Biden is at a 55 percent disapproval. The Democrats are poised to take a shellacking in the midterm elections. They need a good news story. And the only way they think they can get it is to bring Obama back as the de facto leader in the White House. And that’s the message they’re gonna try to send. Barack Obama is in charge. And Barack Obama is setting the agenda. And Barack Obama is leading the team.

Holy Shitake Mushrooms! Not Obama! Apparently nothing is more frightening to these ultra-rightist hacks than the thought of a Black man who governed successfully for two terms (that he won with a majority of the popular vote and zero impeachments) returning to provide his insight for the benefit of the nation.

Bartiromo and Blackburn think there is something untoward about Biden employing some of the same people who advised him so ably during his tenure as Vice-President. And the only thing they think is worse than Biden presiding over the nation (via his decisive victory over Donald Trump) is the return of Obama.

Never mind that Obama was only visiting the White House (for the first time since his term ended) because it was the anniversary of the Affordable Care Act that Republicans helpfully tagged with the name Obamacare. He and Biden were celebrating the fact millions of Americans are now covered by health insurance who were previously subject to massive bills and unnecessary medical suffering.

Nevertheless, the only thing that Bartiromo and Blackburn took away from this was their darkly foreboding delusions that their arch enemy Obama is the “de facto leader,” a shadow president who is secretly calling the shots for a cognitively deficient Biden. And it’s terrifying them to even contemplate it. So naturally, they are passing their utterly irrational fears on to the already fretful Fox News audience.

This is nothing more than another Fox News conspiracy theory that rivals any of those promulgated by QAnon. And knowing these two crackpots, perhaps that’s where it originated. In the meantime Fox News is deceitfully editing videos of Biden to bolster their lies about his mental acuity.

Notice that Laura Ingraham is regurgitating the tedious narrative by Fox News hacks that “Biden doesn’t know what on Earth he’s doing, or at times, where he even is.” That’s followed by Tucker Carlson disingenuously sobbing that “It’s awful.” But what’s truly awful is how brazenly dishonest they are. And how repulsively anti-American. The only thing they’re interested in is keeping their flock ignorant and afraid. And that should be be to hard.

Biden: Fox News is ‘One of the Most Destructive Forces in the U.S.’ – But it Can Be Cured

The harm done to America – and the world – by Fox News has been apparent to objective observers for decades. The radically slanted editorial mission of the right-wing network has disseminated innumerable lies and crackpot conspiracy theories, promoted extremist conservative politicians, and poisoned the minds of millions of gullible viewers.

Click here to Tweet this article

Fox News, Joe Biden

Fox News has purposefully driven rancorous division and fueled racial and class hatred to advance their ultra-partisan crusade. But despite that, politicians are often hesitant to directly criticize the network. Particularly at the presidential level where maintaining a measure of diplomacy is preferred to the unbridled bombast of Donald Trump.

However, a forthcoming book promises to shatter that mold. In “This Will Not Pass: Trump, Biden, and the Battle for America’s Future,” President Joe Biden takes some well deserved slaps at Fox News. According to CNN

“In a forthcoming book, a pair of New York Times reporters and CNN political analysts report that President Joe Biden ‘assessed’ Fox News ‘as one of the most destructive forces in the United States.’ […] According to the book, Biden told an unnamed associate in mid-2021 that [Rupert] Murdoch was the most dangerous man in the world.'”

Finally! While this is certain to trigger Fox News and their faithful flock, it stands as a certifiable statement of fact that was long overdue. And in the wake of recent commentaries by the likes of Tucker Carlson (who openly supports Russia and Vladimir Putin) and Laura Ingraham (who advocates for a GOP government to punish “woke” corporations), it’s no wonder that Russian television has adopted Fox News as an affiliate and regularly replays and praises their programming.

So while Fox News embraces Russia and Putin, Biden took another step toward vilifying him as the murderous thug that he is. On Monday morning Biden reiterated his resolve to aid Ukraine and told reporters that “we have to gather all the detail so this can be an actual — have a war crimes trial.”

The good news is that the destructiveness of Fox News that Biden spoke of is not necessarily permanent. A new study conducted by a pair of professors from Berkeley and Yale asked the question: “Does watching Fox News actually change voters’ minds?”” The study paid a sample of regular Fox News viewers to watch CNN instead. The abstract from the study states that…

“We recruited a sample of regular Fox News viewers using data on actual TV viewership from a media company, and incentivized them to watch CNN instead for a month using real-time viewership quizzes. Despite regular Fox viewers being largely strong partisans, we found manifold effects of changing the slant of their media diets on their factual beliefs, attitudes, perceptions of issues’ importance, and overall political views.

“We show that these effects stem in part from a bias we call partisan coverage filtering, wherein partisan outlets selectively report information, leading viewers to learn a biased set of facts. Consistent with this, treated participants concluded that Fox concealed negative information about President Trump. Partisan media does not only present its side an electoral advantage—it may present a challenge for democratic accountability.”

In short, Fox News’ commitment to selectively reporting, or failing to report, news that is consistent with their inbred biases, has a demonstrable impact viewers’ perceptions and attitudes. However, those attitudes can be altered when exposed to other more credible news sources. The study showed that Fox viewers opinions were altered by several percentage points on controversial subjects. That included their opinions about Fox News itself.

This is not, however, a panacea for the propaganda pushed by Fox. The changes found in the study occurred when the tested viewers were switched from Fox News to CNN entirely. So their disinformation flow was interrupted in total. They were not only freed from the flagrant lies that populate Fox, they were also kept informed about critical stories that Fox News refused to cover at all. The study didn’t test whether inserting a bit of honest reporting into the poisonous cauldron of Fox News would have the same result as making the Fox viewers switch entirely to CNN or some other credible news network.

Consequently, there’s still no evidence that having Democrats or liberals appear on Fox would serve any purpose. But persuading people to stop watching Fox, or cable companies from forcing it on them, could have a positive effect on the nation’s general acceptance of facts and overall store of knowledge.

In Jesus’ Name: Messiah Trump Promises Election Fraud ‘Truth’ is Coming Out – In Two Weeks?

The Cult of Trump is continuing its apocalyptic crusade across red America with yet another one of his traveling salvation shows. Following his humiliation in Georgia last month, where the paltry crowd was seen exiting while he was still in mid-rant, Trump ventured to Michigan to give it another go.

Donald Trump Messiah

One of the reasons that Trump’s circus is drawing fewer fans is that he insists on replaying the same tedious bits at every fan-fest. His set list consists solely of shouting at the “fake news,” chanting “lock her up” whenever Hillary Clinton is mentioned, and his interminable whining that the 2020 election was “rigged” and “stolen” from him.

The “Big Lie” was once again featured on Saturday night. The evening’s fare was foreshadowed in the event’s opening prayer, delivered by a fully ordained minister of Trumpism who warmed up the audience with this appeal to the Lard:

“So we pray. Father in heaven, we firmly believe that Donald J. Trump is the current and true president of the United States. You have raised him up for this season of time to be used and be part in saving a nation. Bless and protect him and his family from any physical, spiritual attacks and may his voice stir the people to righteous action to bring godly men and women into elected office, in Michigan and across America.”

So now God is being recruited as a witness to Trump’s divine ascendency to the throne of America. You would think that a pastor would be reticent to lie so blatantly to God’s face by calling Trump the “current and true president” when he clearly is not. Contrary to God raising Trump up, he very plainly slammed him down, which is why he’s still holding these pathetic freak shows. But the minister of lies continued saying that…

“We declare he will be back in office soon. VERY soon. In Jesus’ name. Amen. We pray the fraud in the 2020 election will continue to be exposed and the election decertified in Michigan. The battleground state in our nation. In Jesus’ name.”

With that declaration the affair was off to a bizarre and sacrilegious start. The audience was now ready for the main abstraction. Donald Trump. And he didn’t disappoint – well – no more than usual. As expected, Trump addressed the “Big Lie” in a tirade that he pretended would be brief (video below):

“And just to cover it quickly, because I don’t want to take a lot of time, but it’s coming, out this ‘Truth to Vote,’ where they found all the thousands and thousands of ballot harvesters. You’ve seen that. ‘Truth to Vote.’ But when you see that – that’s coming out in two weeks – when you see those numbers, I think it’s four or five million people cheating. Those numbers are coming out.”

That should satisfy the deadenders that showed up for this spectacle. After all, everyone recalls how trump delivered on his promises to produce a healthcare plan in two weeks. Or his infrastructure program. Or his border wall. He is nothing if not consistent – consistently wrong. He’s had more than a year to produce evidence of election fraud and has utterly failed to do so. Not that any of his glassy-eyed disciples will notice or hold him accountable to his word.

By the way, when Trump referred to “Truth to Vote,” he was mangling the name of the wholly discreditable conspiracy crackpots at “True the Vote,” who have never produced anything remotely related to the truth. Undaunted, Trump continued saying that…

“Now the press hates like hell to cover it. Oh, they go crazy cause they have a lot of live television. I’m talking about this, they don’t know what to do. They’re saying ‘Should we turn off the cameras?’ Who cares? But right here, just quickly, in Michigan your corrupt state officials sent out 7.7 million unsolicited mail-in ballot applications to everyone on the rolls. Including people who are dead and those who no longer live in the state. Other than that it was wonderful.”

Trump frequently claims that the media covering his rallies are turning their cameras on and off depending on what he’s saying. That is, of course, delusional. Although it is true that most of the TV news networks (including Fox News) stopped carrying his rallies live long ago. They realized that there was nothing newsworthy about his vein-bursting rage-a-thons. They are just full of nonsense like “When you hear ‘mail-in ballot’ you can guarantee you have a corrupt election.”

Never mind that Trump himself votes by mail-in ballot. So do all of the voters of five states (Colorado, Hawaii, Oregon, Utah, and Washington). So does most of our military deployed away from home. And even in his remarks Trump notes that the voters of Michigan received applications for mail-in ballots, not the ballots themselves. So there is no opportunity for voter fraud.

Not that any of that matters to Trump or his cult followers. For them it is all about stirring up anger and hatred and irrational fears. And by that measure, Trump is doing a pretty good job of terrorizing his ever shrinking flock.

Fox News Fascism: Laura Ingraham Advocates Government Punishing Corporations They Disagree With

Conservative Republicans have long pretended to champion free market capitalism. It has been among their most frequently promoted political positions. But for the most part it was nothing more than another catch phrase they exploited to deceive the dimwitted rubes who didn’t bother to dig any deeper than a GOP soundbite.

Laura Ingraham, Fox News, Goofy

On Friday night Fox News primetime propagandist, Laura Ingraham, made it unambiguously clear that the economic “principles” espoused by the right were a fraud. They were merely bait to hook the bumpkins and buffoons into believing that by allowing corporations to walk all over them, they too could become billionaires.

Like most of the Fox News roster of bigots, Ingraham was aghast that the Walt Disney Company had taken a stance against the censorious “Don’t Say Gay” bill advanced by Florida governor, and faithful Trump-fluffer, Ron DeSantis. So Ingraham devoted a segment of her program to delivering a monologue attacking Disney in a manner that reeks of rancid totalitarianism. She not only jumped aboard the QAnon train by claiming that Disney is sexualizing children, she had a decidedly anti-democratic way of dealing with it. Ingraham said that…

“You guys have products and services that 74 million Trump voters don’t need to purchase if they don’t want to. And when Republicans get back into power, Apple and Disney need to understand one thing: Everything will be on the table – your copyright and trademark protection, your special status within certain states, and even your corporate structure itself.

“The antitrust division at [the Department of] Justice needs to begin the process of considering which American companies need to be broken up once and for all for competition’s sake, and ultimately for the good of the consumers who pay the bills.”

RELATED: DeSantis just signed a bill to punish social media firms (Facebook, Twitter, etc) that ban users who violate their terms of service.

Ingraham begins this harangue by threatening to “cancel” Disney with a boycott that she mistakenly thinks millions of Americans will embrace. Let’s just aside the fact that such actions are often criticized by the right. They are nothing if not hypocritical. In fact. Donald Trump is the undisputed King of Cancel Culture.

What makes this tirade even more repugnant is Ingraham proposing that government abuse its power to punish corporations that refuse to fall in line with their partisan goals. She is pushing an oppressive authoritarian agenda. And she isn’t the least bit subtle about it. In a country where Ingraham’s Republican confederates are in charge, private businesses will be forced to subjugate themselves to the state or suffer the consequences.

Ingraham doesn’t say what constitutional means she would employ to challenge a company’s copyrights and trademarks. Probably because there aren’t any. And while antitrust laws can provide a valid protection of consumer rights. Ingraham is explicit that she wouldn’t be pursuing them on behalf of consumers, but rather only “when Republicans get back into power.”

Ingraham is not alone on Fox News fronting for fascism, and making Disney the scapegoat for their despotic dystopia. It’s a network wide initiative. Media Matter has documented that just within the past week, “Fox has been laser-focused on the story, mentioning ‘Disney’ over 350 times this week, and dedicating over 3 hours of coverage, and at least 53 segments, to it.”

By contrast, stories such as Trump asking Putin for dirt on Hunter Biden, and Madison Cawthorn’s tales of GOP cocaine fueled orgies, and Supreme Court Justices Clarence Thomas’ wife plotting with Trump’s chief of staff to stage a coup, received little or no coverage on Fox News. Meanwhile, Fox is busy attacking Disney – yes, Disney! – as child pornographers upon whom the government must stomp its fascist boot. That must be part of their “MAGA movement to Make America Goofy Again.”
