SURPRISE: Trump Turns Funeral for Lynette ‘Diamond’ Hardaway Into Another Trump Cult Rally

Two weeks ago Lynette “Diamond” Hardaway of the Trump-fluffing duo “Diamond and Silk” died at the age of 51. Along with her sister, they produced videos that were rabidly pro-Trump and often filled with flagrant falsehoods regarding COVID, Trump’s 2020 election loss, President Biden, and more.

The pair of devout Trumpists navigated the farthest fringes of conservative conspiracy country. As a result of their dangerously dishonest disinformation they were exiled from Twitter and Facebook. They were even too extreme for Fox News who canceled their Fox Nation show and stopped booking them.

On Saturday there was a funeral service for Diamond in North Carolina. This was an important enough affair that Trump made one of the few trips away from his Mar-a-Lago bunker that he’s made in months. However, when he arrived he proceeded as if it were just another Trump cult rally.

Trump appeared to be bored and impatient for the couple of hours that he had to sit through other remembrances before his remarks. He even made reference to the the fact that he had to wait more than the fifteen minutes he was expecting to spend there. Then Trump took to the podium and behaved precisely as anyone who has seen him would have expected. Virtually the entirety of his so-called eulogy was about his favorite subject – himself. And unsurprisingly, he raged about his “Big Lie” that the 2020 presidential election was “rigged and stolen” from him:

“How do we stop the cheating? How de we stop where you get more votes but you still don’t win? And the answer is the Republicans have to get tougher. The top people have to get tougher. And you have to really swamp ’em. There’s a level at which even they can’t produce. And so if you win big enough you can get there, and then once we’re there we’re gonna straighten it all out and get it back to where it was.”

For the record, “back to where it was” when Trump’s occupation of the White House ended was in the midst of deadly pandemic, record high unemployment, undisguised bigotry, misogyny, and xenophobia, antagonism toward democracy, and disrespect internationally.

Trump also boasted about the size of the venue he had rented to hold the anticipated massive crowd. But local reporting says there were only about 150 people in the 2,400 capacity hall. The same article noted that Silk implied that Diamond’s death was caused by the COVID vaccine, despite the duo having repeatedly claimed that they were never vaccinated and urged others to refuse.

Trump continued to deliver his tediously long rant, that was intended to pay homage to Diamond, by obsessing over immigration, inflation, and gas prices. He turned the whole eulogy into a campaign speech for his 2024 presidential aspirations promising that “We can fix so much of what’s been damaged over the last two years.” He lied profusely about immigration saying that…

I think maybe 15 million, they say three, maybe four – they have no idea how many people. They allowed their prisons to be emptied out into the United States of America. They allowed their mental institutions to be empties out into the United States of America.

Trump spoke about the national debt without mentioning that his four years in office contributed $8 trillion to it – about a quarter of the total. And he blamed an alleged stoppage of energy production for runaway inflation. Never mind that “the United States is already the world’s largest producer of oil and gas. Domestic oil production is at 90 percent of America’s all-time, pre-pandemic high, and the United States is producing more than twice as many barrels of oil per day as it produced in 2008.” And that’s in addition to record high production of renewal energy resources.

So the Hardaway family must feel so special and comforted by Trump’s outpouring of concern about himself and how badly America is doing without his “leadership.” But if they expected more from him they are terminally naïve. This is who Trump is now, always has been, and always will be. He has allegiance only to himself, and everyone else is just there to prop up his massive, yet fragile, ego.

Tucker Carlson Unleashes Insane Rant Advocating Tobacco Because ‘Nicotine Frees Your Mind’

The 2022 election cycle featured Republicans across the country furiously condemning Democrats as a ghoulish death cult that was deliberately seeking to harm Americans by affirmatively promoting violent crime, homicidal migrants, and the use and abuse of illicit narcotics.

Naturally, Fox News reported this nightmare perversion of reality with sensationalized coverage of mostly made up stories fear mongering about nonsense such as Halloween candies laced with fentanyl. Undeterred by the fact that none of their macabre alarmism came to pass, Fox News continues to drown their intellectually enfeebled audience in profoundly dishonest and dangerous disinformation. Particularly about COVID which, due to the flagrant lies and conspiracy theories aired by Fox News, has been found to have killed more Republicans than Democrats.

Leading this putrid pack of propagandists is Tucker Carlson. And on Friday’s episode of his hour of contrived outrage, Carlson pontificated on his aberrant affinity for tobacco. He began by chastising Democrats for having the audacity to oppose the single most preventable cause of cancer, asserting falsely that…

“No wonder they hate tobacco. And it’s not because it causes cancer. They don’t care about your health. They closed the gyms during COVID. Anyone who would close a gym during a pandemic that kills fat people clearly doesn’t care about your health at all.”

Carlson’s “logic” is typically preposterous. He thinks that it would be beneficial for “fat” people to continue patronizing gyms – where there is profuse heaving breathing and sweating on the equipment – during the pandemic spread of a respiratory virus. And this isn’t the first time that he has associated Tobacco with obesity. Sure, overweight people are vulnerable to more severe consequences from COVID, and they should take measures to lose weight for general health reasons anyway. But that’s something they could do at home, or by taking long walks.

Carlson, however, would have people patronize the sort of facility that could expose them to the very virus that Carlson is admitting could be deadly for them. He is advising them to go to a densely populated public place where they can exercise to lose weight over a period of months, so long as they don’t get COVID and die in a week or two. That makes sense, right? But Carlson was just getting started. He went on to complain that…

“They hate nicotine. They love THC. They’re promoting weed to your children, but they’re not letting you use tobacco, or even non-tobacco nicotine delivery devices which don’t cause cancer. Why do they hate nicotine? Because nicotine frees your mind and THC makes you compliant and passive. They hate it. It’s a real threat to them.”

Really? First of all, Carlson cannot cite a single example of Democrats “promoting weed to your children.” Secondly, adults can use tobacco all they want, as long as they are not subjecting others to their toxic habit. Third, vaping has many serious health hazards of its own. Fourth, “nicotine frees your mind”??? What sort of cancer death cult has Tucker joined?

Carlson is clearly the one who doesn’t care about your health. He has spent the past couple years pushing COVID disinformation that contributed to the deaths of his own viewers. He has warned them that vaccines don’t work and “they” aren’t telling you.

Carlson recently praised GOP House Speaker Kevin McCarthy for reversing the Capitol smoking ban. Undoubtedly he believes that this new found freedom to suck up poisonous tar and nicotine, and expose others to the same health risks, is a boon to the testosterone deprived members whose masculinity has been on the decline due to the lack of properly tanned testicles. ‘One of the biggest stories in our lifetimes,’ Carlson has said, ‘is the total collapse of testosterone levels in American men.'”

On the same program, Carlson offered his pseudo-libertarian, anarchist view that all laws protecting people from harm are unconstitutional and should be abolished…

“The bottom line is they have no authority. They have no constitutional authority over your personal life. If it’s not in the public sphere, they have no right to ban it. You can smoke any kind of menthol cigarettes you want. You can cook in any stove you want. Only you decide what goes into your body, period. That’s the promise of America. And if we don’t stand up for that and say, ‘No, no. Come and get it.'”

So there you have it. Carlson is now advocating that everyone should be free to use tobacco, as well as fentanyl, meth, and heroin. The government should stay out of consumer product safety and allow lead paint, asbestos, and unsafe child car seats to go back on the market. Because that – getting killed by poisons and defective products – is “the promise of America.” And all this time you thought it was freedom and democracy. But is anyone surprised by Carlson’s latest harangue? He’s the same guy who recently embraced the concept of dissemating misinformation…

FFS: Trump Calls for Arrest of Supreme Court Leak Journalists Unless They Reveal Their Sources

During his occupation of the White House, Donald repeatedly demonstrated his ignorance of, and disrespect for, the Constitution of the United States. He pursued an agenda that was most closely associated with fascism and other oppressive models of government. He expected unflinching loyalty to him personally, rather to the Constitution or the nation.

Trump’s biggest heroes are dictators such as Kim Jong Un, Xi Jinping, and his puppet master, Vladimir Putin. He excused their offenses against free nations and he sought to emulate them. He spoke of having “fallen in love” with Kim Jong Un and he openly stated that he believed Putin over American intelligence agencies.

On Thursday Trump responded to a report regarding the leaked draft of the the Supreme Court’s decision on Roe v Wade. The investigation was unable to identity the leaker who provided the press with a draft of the opinion. That news triggered Trump to post a comment on his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, saying that…

“The Supreme Court has just announced it is not able to find out, even with the help of our “crack” FBI, who the leaker was on the R v Wade scandal. They’ll never find out, & it’s important that they do. So, go to the reporter & ask him/her who it was. If not given the answer, put whoever in jail until the answer is given. You might add the publisher and editor to the list. Stop playing games, this leaking cannot be allowed to happen. It won’t take long before the name of this slime is revealed!”

And just in case anyone was unsure about his position, Trump followed that up with another post that said…

“Arrest the reporter, publisher, editor – you’ll get your answer fast. Stop playing games and wasting time!”

These remarks are typical of Trump’s tendency toward tyranny. They reveal his seething hatred for the Constitution and the freedom that it mandates for the press.

For the record, it is not illegal to leak drafts of Supreme Court opinions to the press, so long as the leaker didn’t gain access to the documents unlawfully, such as hacking into a private computer. But Trump isn’t talking here about arresting the leaker. He’s demanding that the reporters, editors, and publishers of the documents be arrested to coerce them to reveal their source. According to PolitiFact…

“No federal law clearly prohibits someone with legal access to a draft Supreme Court opinion, such as a justice or clerk, from leaking that document to the press, legal experts said. A draft opinion is not classified, which is usually the grounds for leak investigations.”

The journalists involved in this not only did not violate any law, but they are protected by the Constitution and a couple hundred years of subsequent affirming decisions by the Supreme Court. Nevertheless, Trump would have them incarcerated until they talk. That is the sort of tactic that would be exercised by Trump’s totalitarian mentors. It is blatantly illegal, grossly offensive, and wholly un-American.

These comments are further evidence that Trump is unfit to serve in any capacity in a free democracy. And any voter or Republican politician who would support Trump’s future electoral aspirations is embracing his treasonous anti-Americanism and his utter lack of patriotic principles.

Sean Hannity and Marjorie Taylor Greene Conspire to Blackmail America with Debt Ceiling Default

On January 19, 2023, the United States officially hit the debt ceiling established in the previous session of Congress. As a result, the Treasury Department must now start taking extraordinary measures to continue to meet the nation’s prior obligations and avoid a catastrophic default. It is estimated that those measures will only delay a fiscal nightmare for a few months.

With that economic disaster looming, Fox News is predictably siding with the forces of evil who support crashing the U.S. economy, particularly during the Democratic presidential term of Joe Biden. To that end, Sean Hannity invited Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-QAnon) on to plot out their plan to hold the nation hostage in order to slash the safety net programs that many Americans rely on (video below). That would risk a severe economic meltdown. Not that Hannity or Greene care. It’s what they and their Dear Leader, Donald Trump, have been hankering for.

Hannity’s harangue began with his ludicrous assertion that Democrats are only “ginning up” the debt ceiling issue because they “desperately want to distract from the issue of the president and the classified top secret documents.” Really? You mean it’s not because Democrats recognize that the GOP is purposefully risking the full faith and credit of the United States in an effort to extort a few items on their right-wing wish list? And does Hannity really believe that Democrats want to distract from the issue of stolen classified documents, an issue for which Trump is far more vulnerable? Hannity went on to display his pitifully ignorant “understanding” of this issue, saying that…

“My understanding is that really won’t be an issue for a number of months. But when it is an issue, what will Republicans do? Will they be united? What are the things that they will demand in exchange for going along with the debt ceiling because the hyperbole, I’m sure, will be out of control.”

So Hannity is deliberately downplaying the consequences of the U.S. government defaulting on its debt, which would result in a government shutdown that would cripple the country and tank the economy worldwide. And he admits that all he’s interested in is what Republicans can get for their sabotage. He falsely claims that checks for Social Security and Medicare, and military operations and many more vital government services would still proceed without interruption. Republicans have brought us to this brink before, so he knows that isn’t true.

Greene weighed in with a bizarre reference to the number of years that Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer have served in Congress. First of all, she’s conveniently leaving out the longest serving members, such as Mitch McConnell and Chuck Grassley in the Senate, and Hal Rogers and Chris Smith in the House – all Republicans. The she adds…

“It’s a serious issue and the spending in Washington that’s happened for decades now with both parties is the reason why we’re in this terrible place. And Republicans are committed to work on the budget. We want to get it under control, we want it to be balanced and we want to reduce the national debt. […] I, for one, will not sign a clean bill raising the debt limit.”

Who wants to tell Greene that members of Congress do not “sign” bills, clean or otherwise? Does she think she’s the President? However, she appears to be willing to sign a dirty bill, which is a good description of the muddy legislation that the GOP is likely to produce.

Greene knows, or ought to know, that raising the debt ceiling has no impact whatsoever on spending. If she’s serious about being “committed to work on the budget,” there is nothing stopping her from doing so after voting to increase the debt limit, which applies only to financial obligations made in the past.

Greene can also continue her pursuit of the perennially preposterous idea of a balanced budget. It’s funny that Republicans have long insisted that the government should be run like a business, but don’t seem to know that businesses do not have balanced budgets. They operate on credit, just like the government and most American households.

If Hannity and Greene were truly interested in reducing the debt, they would do what Biden and the Democrats have been doing that resulted in the deficit declining by $1.4 trillion last year. And for the record, Trump increased the debt by nearly $8 trillion dollars – much of that was due to his tax cut that benefited corporations and the wealthy – and ne’er a word of criticism was heard from the GOP or Fox News. And Republicans still haven’t proposed any spending cuts, except to programs that benefit middle and lower income Americans, and law enforcement agencies such as the FBI and Homeland Security.

HUH? Fox News Host Ridiculously Redefines ‘Equity’ as Evil and the Cause of Communism

Among the rhetorical carrots that Fox News and Republicans have been dangling temptingly before their screed-starved supplicants is the newly coined “woke” polemic that the right defines broadly as any passingly liberal sounding policy that can be spun into a pseudo-scandal.

Everything from Critical Race Theory to voting rights to progressive taxation to climate change, and more can be lumped into what the right regards as “wokism.” It’s become a catch-all pejorative for whatever is bothering them at any particular moment. Never mind that it’s original meaning, as used in the Black community, was simply to be informed, educated and conscious of social injustice. And those are qualities that are anathema to conservatives.

On Tuesday Greg Gutfeld of Fox News added another word to the wingnut lexicon that required redefinition by the the right. Gutfeld presented his candidate for politically correcting verbiage: “Equity.”

Gutfeld’s conspiracy theory is that there is a coordinated effort by some nefarious unnamed liberal cabal to replace the word “equality” with the word “equity.” He warns that “it’s really important that people understand what the difference is, because one is about peace and the other is about war.” And how does he justify that bizarre distinction? With a tortured illogic that mauls the definitions of both words (video below).

“Equality simply defined is that people have the same opportunities to achieve the same goals. We’re all at the same starting place. Equity though is we enforce limits on achievement so no one achieves more than anyone else. That will punish the really hard workers. That leads to war. That is socialism.”

WHUT? Gutfeld is not even close to the actual meanings of either word. Equality has nothing to do with “opportunities” or “starting places.” For the record, equality is the state in which people have the same stature and/or class. And while that sounds admirable, it can mean that two people can be discriminated against in the same measure and that would still be considered equality.

Equity means fairness and impartiality. So it requires that there be no discrimination. The words are complimentary, not contradictory. Of course, none of that matters to Gutfeld or Fox News. All they are interested in is smoothing a path to express their inherent racism. However, Gutfeld went even farther to demonize equity as something harmful and associated with oppression.

“So equality gives everybody a step up, and equity crushes from above. And you have to remind yourself of this. Whenever you run into this situation because people are gonna are always try to replace equality with equity and you can see it in news reports. They’ll just let the word equity fly by. That is an evil word. It is a word that caused communism. It’s part of socialism.”

One would have to have a pretty twisted perspective to link equity with something that “crushes from above.” And to characterize equity as “evil” is evidence of a perverse misunderstanding of the English language, if not a wholly warped worldview. Embracing such a depraved paradigm would naturally lead Gutfeld to the ludicrous conclusion that “equity” begets communism.

Gutfeld is Fox’s court jester. He is supposed to be their comic relief. But he isn’t joking about this. And conservatives have never been known for their sense of humor anyway.

Nevertheless, this is emblematic of how right-wing media and Republican politicians communicate. They take words that are already in common use and distort them to express something entirely different and utterly deplorable. Then they accuse anyone who engages in whatever practice it is that they have absurdly redefined, of being corrupt or dishonest or otherwise undesirable. Which, ironically, is a strikingly accurate definition of themselves.

Loyalty? Trump Blames His Evangelical Cult Followers for His Own Failures and Electoral Fiascos

The unholy alliance between Donald Trump and the right-wing evangelical crusaders in America was always a marriage of political convenience. Trump, a profane, serial philandering, greedy, narcissistic, pathological liar, never really liked the religious chumps he suckered into backing him, and they never really liked him either.

From the outset of his political pursuits, Trump sought to exploit the faith-based community. And they were more than willing to be exploited so long as he delivered on their political agenda. Their relationship endured even when Trump portrayed himself as on par with Christ’s divinity.

SO SAYETH: Trump Says ‘I Am the Chosen One’ After Tweeting that He’s ‘The Second Coming of God’

Well, just like Trump’s other marriages, this one was destined for a messy divorce. The signs of the breakout become more apparent on Monday when Trump called into the right-wing “Real America’s Voice” Internet show with Trump-fluffer, David Brody. Trump revealed that he was very upset with some evangelical leaders for being insufficiently worshipful of him after recent elections exposed his fading influence (video below)…

Brody: Your were the ultimate fighter, the ultimate counterpuncher for sure, and that makes me think of evangelicals, why they loved you twice in those elections. And when you announced your candidacy, at least as it stands now, some of these prominent evangelical leaders that backed you last time are not yet willing to commit – like Robert Jeffers is not, some others. It seems like many of them are waiting to see how the field takes shape before backing anyone. what is your message to them?

Trump: Well, I don’t really care. That’s a sign of disloyalty. There’s great disloyalty in the world of politics, and that’s a sign of disloyalty because nobody, as you know – and you would know better than anybody because you do such a great job – nobody has ever done more for right to life than Donald Trump. I put three Supreme Court justices who all voted [to overturn Roe v. Wade]. And they got something they’ve been fighting for for 64 years. Many, many years. Nobody thought they could win it. They won. Roe v Wade. They won, they finally won.

So Trump says that he doesn’t care that some evangelicals aren’t supporting him now. Sure he doesn’t. He doesn’t care so much that he is blaming them for Republican electoral losses. He was particularly disappointed that they didn’t repay him with their votes for his nomination of three anti-abortion Supreme Court justices. He went on to whine that…

Trump: I was a little disappointed because I thought they could have fought much harder during the election, the 2022 election. Because they won and a lot of them didn’t fight or weren’t really around to fight, and it did energize the Democrats. A lot of people fought for years to get it. They sort of, I don’t know, were protesting and doing what they could’ve done. But with all of that being said, there’s nobody that did more for the movement than I have. And that includes the movement of evangelicals and Christians and the movement very much of ‘right to life.

True to form, Trump is taking all the credit for the Supreme Court’s ruling against reproductive rights. And naturally, he insists that he’s done more than anyone for the cause. In reality, Trump was a pawn of the Republican right and evangelicals. He was put in a position to nominate anti-abortion justices by conservative, theocratic voters. Those justices were then confirmed by the GOP majority in the Senate. That was the plan long before Trump came along.

Trump is also predictably blaming his own failures on others when it’s clear that he was the primary reason that so many of the extremist candidates he endorsed in 2022 lost. Trump is also exhibiting his pattern of expecting complete loyalty to him despite his utter lack of loyalty to anyone else. He’s willing to throw everyone under the bus whenever he believes it benefits him, or if they weren’t bowing low enough. And in this case he’s expecting his cult followers to chose loyalty to him over their lord and savior – which, of course, he thinks he is.

As for the evangelicals, they are proving that to them it has always been about politics. When Trump is no longer helping them achieve their political goals, they ditch him. But when they found him useful, they ignored all of his blatantly sinful ways and his lifelong dismissal of any religion that didn’t worship him. Because, when all is said and done, these evangelicals are no more reverent than Trump.

UH-OH: Trump Says (aka Lies) that He Has ‘INFO On Everyone’ Who Comes to Mar-a-Lago

When Donald Trump isn’t bragging about how stupendously awesome he thinks he is, he is disparaging everyone that he regards as being insufficiently worshipful of him. It’s a textbook example of the malignant narcissism that he’s been suffering from for decades.

The past couple of weeks has provided Trump an opportunity to lash out at his arch enemy, President Biden, over matters related to the discovery of a handful of classified documents at his home and office. Trump has sought to draw utterly inapt comparisons between his own documents scandal and Biden’s relatively trifling filing errors, the details of which are light years apart.

A report Monday morning has now set Trump off on another wild ride. According to CNN, the White House counsel’s office released a statement regarding the absence of visitor logs at Biden’s Delaware home, saying that “Like every President across decades of modern history, his personal residence is personal.” That rather innocuous fact was all it took to trigger Trump who posted on his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, that…

“The White House just announced that there are no LOGS or information of any kind on visitors to the Wilmington house and flimsy, unlocked, and unsecured, but now very famous, garage. Maybe they are smarter than we think! This is one of seemingly many places where HIGHLY CLASSIFIED documents are stored (in a big pile on the damp floor). Mar-a-Lago is a highly secured facility, with Security Cameras all over the place, and watched over by staff & our great Secret Service. I have INFO on everyone!”

There’s a lot of steaming cow manure rising from that digital pile. To begin with, Biden’s home is hardly “unlocked and unsecured.” It is, after all, the residence of the sitting President of the United States and his family. Secondly, Trump’s description of the documents as being stored “in a big pile on the damp floor” was pulled straight from his assumptive imagination. And finally, Trump makes the unsettling declaration that “I have INFO on everyone!”

Really? We can set aside the spine-chilling implications of that because it isn’t remotely possible. There are hundreds of guests going in and out of Mar-a-Lago all the time. None of them are subjected to even the most meager ID checks. And recent examples of questionable visitors to the hotel confirm that it’s security is near non-existent.

For instance, Trump admittedly had no info on notorious white supremacist Nick Fuentes when he was a guest at Mar-a-Lago. In fact, Trump’s excuse for hosting Fuentes, whom he conspicuously declined to repudiate, was that he “had never met and knew nothing about” him. Trump also had no info on the fake heiress and alleged Russian spy who made repeated trips to Mar-a-Lago.

Trump’s complaint that Biden didn’t keep visitor logs for his private residence is also typically hypocritical. As president, Trump himself confessed that he didn’t keep any such logs for Mar-a-Lago. Even worse, during his term in office Trump refused to provide access to visitors logs for the White House itself, ending the traditional practice of doing so. Biden restored that practice shortly after his inauguration.

Naturally, the Republican Party is running cover for Trump. Rep. James Comer, the new chair of the House Oversight Committee, has announced his intention to seek information about visitors to Biden’s home due to the few documents that Biden voluntarily revealed had been found there. Comer simultaneously stated that he would not seek similar info for Mar-a-Lago, where hundreds of sensitive national security materials were discovered after Trump lied to the FBI about having them.

We can expect this sort of partisan dishonesty and hypocrisy to continue for the foreseeable future. That’s because Republicans care more about protecting the criminals in their party than they do about the security of the nation. And Trump will undoubtedly continue to brazenly lie about virtually everything. That’s because the truth is his enemy, and he knows it.

GOP Creates an ‘Anti-Woke’ Caucus to Take on the ‘Greatest Domestic Threat to America Today’

In the spanking new Republican majority House of Representatives, the party’s leaders have distinguished themselves as advocates for the farthest right-wing crackpot agenda in modern times. After taking a historic and humiliating fifteen votes to elect Kevin McCarthy Speaker (aka Squeaker) of the House, they moved immediately to a party-line passage of bills to suppress reproductive rights and defund IRS efforts to audit corporations and the wealthy.

Donald Trump, Republican, GOP

Proceeding down that partisan path, Rep. Jim Banks (R-QAnon) just announced the latest wingnut initiative to waste the time and taxpayer dollars of the House. Banks is not just any Republican shill. He is a member of the party’s leadership as Chair of the Republican Study Committee. And in that capacity Banks has announced that he is founding the House “Anti-Woke” Caucus to lead the fight for the “values” of unconsciousness and willful ignorance that have long been the hallmarks of the Republican Party. According to the GOP’s Ministry of Propaganda (aka Fox News)…

“A Republican in the House of Representatives will be forming a new caucus to take on ‘wokeness’ across the country, which presents the ‘greatest domestic threat to America today,’ he said.”

“Rep. Jim Banks, R-Ind., announced Friday that he will be creating the ‘first-ever Anti-Woke Caucus’ to take on political correctness groups, which he said have formed a ‘tyranny’ that is vastly changing America through ‘indoctrination.'”

So it isn’t immigrants, or abortion, or China, or fentanyl, or inflation, or Hunter Biden’s stolen laptop, or any of the other phony horror stories that Republicans told last year on the campaign trail that will draw America to the brink of extinction. Nope. It is “wokiesm” that is “greatest domestic threat to America today.” And rather than address any legislative responses to the matters that previously drove them into a panic, the GOP is focused on trivialities that serve mainly as distractions. For example, they are forming a committee to probe the “Weaponization of the Federal Government.”

Now we can add the “Anti-Woke” caucus to the GOP’s pro-comatose agenda. Banks elaborated on his snarky scheme saying that…

“‘The Biden administration imposes these beliefs in schools, in the military, in government agencies and in the private sector. It not only wants us to hate each other. It is funding this hatred and fanning its flames. What do you think will be left of our nation once more and more people accept wokeness and act on its principles?”

None of that bears any resemblance to reality. Banks doesn’t explain how “wokeness” would result in Americans hating each other, nor how that hatred is being funded by the Biden administration. Banks also complained that wokeness…

“…means that all the so-called oppressor groups must be punished for their past and present alleged sins. […] And what does wokeness mean for the so-called oppressed? It means privileged status.”

Once again, Banks doesn’t bother to define who the oppressors and oppressed groups are. But heaven forbid the notions that an oppressor might be subject to punishment, or that oppressed people might enjoy some measure of privilege for a change. Also, if Banks is in need of help defining the words he is throwing around, he might check with Merriam-Webster that defines “woke” as being “aware of and actively attentive to important facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice)”

Republicans surely can’t allow any awareness and/or attentiveness to anything important or that involves facts. They are the party of closed eyes and minds. And they are proud of it. It’s what makes the cult following of the GOP and its messiah, Donald Trump, possible. How else could he lead a throng of true believers who would continue to worship him even if, as he said, he shot someone on 5th Avenue?

Trump v Biden: Their Reactions to Special Counsels Reveals Who’s Innocent and Who’s Scared

Poor crybaby Trump. The self-described “most fabulous whiner” of Mar-All-Ego is starting off the new year pretty much the same way he ended the last year: Complaining petulantly that he is a victim of the hordes of enemies that are conspiring to destroy him and his aspirations of messianic sovereignty over the American motherland.

Trump Fear

The reports that President Biden was found to be in possession of a handful of classified documents have set off the alarms spinning atop the tinfoil fedoras perched on the pinheads of Republican rage-a-holics and right-wing propagandists. Of course, the same alarmists ignore the discovery of hundreds of such documents hoarded – and lied about – by Donald Trump at his Palm Beach resort/home. And never mind that the facts associated with these stories expose just how dissimilar the circumstances are.

What truly reveals the divergent realities of the Trump and Biden camps is their reactions to having become the subjects of special counsels. To the surprise of no one, Trump flicked the psycho switch as he unleashed his ferocious animosity toward special counsel Jack Smith. His distemper tantrum departed from anything resembling sanity. For instance, he posted on his pitifully floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, that…

“The Special ‘Prosecutor’ assigned to the ‘get Trump case,’ Jack Smith(?), is a Trump Hating THUG whose wife is a serial and open Trump Hater.”

[NOTE: Trump doesn’t think that Smith is a prosecutor, or that his name is Smith]

And that…

“Fire a man who may very well turn out to be a criminal, Jack Smith. His conflicts, unfairness, and mental state of derangement make him totally unfit for the job of ‘getting Trump.’ Go after Biden and the Biden Crime Family instead. Like Bill Barr, the U.S. Attorneys in Delaware and Illinois are weak, ineffective, and afraid to do what must be done. The Election was RIGGED, and we are now losing our Country. We can’t let that happen. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

[NOTE: Trump appears to be seeking a special counsel who is better “fit” to investigate him. Also, he is maligning Bill Barr and the U.S. Attorneys in Delaware and Illinois (David C. Weiss and John R. Lausch Jr) as weak and ineffective. He appointed all three of them]

And that…

“Merrick Garland has to immediately end Special Counsel investigation into anything related to me because I did everything right, and appoint a Special Counsel to investigate Joe Biden who hates Biden as much as Jack Smith hates me.”

[NOTE: Robert Hur, the special counsel appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland to probe the Biden matter, was also appointed by Trump to be the U.S. Attorney of Maryland]

In Trump’s delirium he is being pursued by an “unfair,” “deranged,’ “criminal,’ “THUG,” whose whole family hates him. Clearly Trump is scared witless, and is suffering from a toxic mixture of paranoia and guilt. Despite his psychotic inability to admit it – even to himself – he knows what he did and what the consequences are.

For comparison, observe how Biden responded to the news that AG Garland had named a special counsel to investigate his documents “scandal.”

“People know I take classified documents, classified material seriously. I also said we are cooperating fully and completely with the Justice Department’s review. […] As was done in the case of the Biden Penn Center, the Department of Justice was immediately notified and the lawyers arranged for the Department of Justice to take possession of the documents.”

The reactions by Trump and Biden reflect the stark differences between the two. Biden is calm and respectful of the law. Trump is rattled and contemptuous of the law and even those he appointed to administer it.

For good measure, Trump’s Ministry of Propaganda (aka Fox News) predictably weighed in on his side. Fox host Mark Levin ranted that…

“Garland wanted to keep this thing hidden. He wanted to sweep it under the rug until it got hot. The Republicans were calling hearings. They were gonna call witnesses. And then Garland, reluctantly, today appoints a special counsel. And who does he appoint? He appoints the right hand man to FBI director Christopher Wray. That’s hardly the same kind of special counsel that Donald Trump is facing. This whole thing stinks to high heaven.”

So Levin is asserting that Garland appointed a special counsel for Biden because he wanted to “keep this thing hidden”? That’s a strange way to pursue that goal. Levin also baselessly claims that Garland “reluctantly,” appointed the special counsel. And Levin closes by complaining that the special counsel must be biased against Trump because he once worked for FBI director Christopher Wray. Once again, Mr. Hur was appointed by Trump, and so was Mr. Wray.

The confidence and tranquility of Biden, as contrasted by the fear and hostility exhibited by Trump, the Republican Party, Fox News, and the rest of the right-wing wacko-chamber, tells you all you need to know about the players in this melodrama. And just to seal the deal, Trump also posted a comment that may be the truest thing he ever said…

“Importantly, I have single-handedly shown the American Public how Crooked and Corrupt our Government is.”

It’s uncomfortably impossible to argue with Trump about that.

HUH? Squeaker McCarthy Admits that He Ignored Subpoenas in His Denial that He Ignored Subpoenas

The new Republican majority in the House of Representatives is proving to be just as radically right-wing as feared. And true to form, it also unabashedly hypocritical. Both of those characteristics are evident in the Party’s impaneling of a comically named Select Committee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government.

Kevin McCarthy, Deep State

Expect this purely partisan committee to focus on bogus and pre-debunked issues like Hunter Biden’s stolen laptop and the FBI rigging the 2020 presidential election. A better name for the panel would be the Select Committee on Deep State Conspiracy Theories. Expect them also to ignore all of Trump’s vast array of crimes.

Democrats are preparing for the onslaught of asininity that will emerge from the Committee. As reported by ABC News, Rep. Jerry Nadler addressed the matter saying that…

“Jim Jordan and Kevin McCarthy claim to be investigating the weaponization of the federal government when, in fact, this new select committee is the weapon itself,” New York Rep. Jerry Nadler, the top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, said in a statement. “It is specifically designed to inject extremist politics into our justice system and shield the MAGA movement from the legal consequences of their actions.”

On Thursday morning House Squeaker Kevin McCarthy held a press conference wherein he was asked about the committee and how it would handle certain situations that were made more dicey due to the flagrantly dishonest and legally dubious behavior of Republicans in recent days (years). At one point a reporter posed an especially pertinent question…

Question: Are you concerned that the targets of potential subpoenas will use the argument that you used and Mr. Jordan used to ignore the subpoena you got, that this is just political?
McCarthy: No, because mine wasn’t ignoring the subpoena. I said I would gladly go if we got to appoint people to the committee. The thing was not political. You will find the fundamental difference of me being the speaker and Nancy Pelosi, the other side will get to name their members on the committee. It won’t be hand picked by me and denying the Democrats their voice. So whatever transpires out of the committee is with the Republicans and Democrats as we move forward.

The question that McCarthy so poorly evaded answering makes the excellent point that subpoenas issued by Republicans such as Jim Jordan, who themselves failed to appear when they were subpoenaed, are inherently invalid. Why should anyone respect their summonses when they were so brazenly disrespectful under far more credible circumstances?

Notice also that McCarthy is denying that he ignored the subpoena. However, his denial hinges on his conditions for why he actually did ignore the subpoena. Just because you have reasons, however lame, for refusing to comply doesn’t mean that you aren’t refusing to comply. Subpoenas aren’t issued with exceptions for conditions that the witness gets to invent.

What’s more, McCarthy’s excuse involves his complaint that Nancy Pelosi didn’t allow McCarthy to appoint Republicans to the Select Committee investigating the January 6th insurrection. Which is false. She only rejected two members (Jim Jordan and Jim Banks) because they were potentially witnesses, or even offenders, themselves. It was McCarthy who then withdrew all Republicans from the panel and refused to appoint any at all.

In addition to that, McCarthy is now saying that he, allegedly unlike Pelosi, is going to allow Democrats to assign their own members to the committee. However, he seems to be forgetting that he recently promised to remove Representatives Adam Schiff, Eric Swalwell, and Ilhan Omar, from any committees that they currently serve on. And unlike Pelosi, he has no good reason to do so.

Democrats are being given six seats on the “Deep State” committee, versus nine for Republicans. So the new Democratic Leader, Hakeem Jeffries, should make three of those appointments Adam Schiff, Eric Swalwell, and Ilhan Omar, and see how McCarthy responds. Odds are heavily in favor of him refusing to seat them. Because hypocrisy, unfairness, and rank partisanship are built in to the Republican code of ethics, or lack thereof.
