Trump’s Twitter Proxy Implies Biden is Mentally Unsound for Referring to Notes, But Guess What?

The question of President Biden’s fitness to serve has been a core feature of the Fox News campaign of smears and character assassination from before Biden was even inaugurated. Never mind that a significant majority of the American people concluded by their votes that Biden was not only fit, but more mentally sound than Donald Trump according to a Fox News poll.

Donald Trump, Insane, Straight Jacket

That affirmation by the people, however, has not deterred Fox News, and the Trump-addled Republican Party it speaks for, from persisting in their malicious misrepresentations.

RELATED: Hannity’s Infantile Anti-Biden Tweet Draws a Scorching Backlash Against Trump

On Tuesday morning, Trump’s Twitter ban defying spokes-shill posted a tweet that said only “25th amendment,” a reference to the constitutional amendment providing for relieving a mentally incompetent president from his duties. The post also retweeted a Republican operative’s photo of Biden holding some notes he used during a press conference.

Let’s set aside the assertion in the tweet that Biden “screwed up,” because there’s no evidence of that in the tweet. To the contrary, it shows that Biden accurately conveyed what his notes said about his previous comment that the genocidal butcher Vladimir Putin “cannot remain in power.” Biden maintained that he “was expressing the moral outrage I felt towards the actions of this man,” and that he “was not articulating a change in policy.” It was a message that he also delivered in response to a “silly” question by Fox’s Peter Doocy later the same day.

Nevertheless, according these Trump tongue waggers, Biden’s use of notes indicates some sort of cognitive failure. But what makes this all the more preposterous and hypocritical is that Trump himself frequently used similar notes. Here’s one where he required a cheat sheet to remind to show sympathy for victims a mass shooting:

So Trump needed this reminder to tell these mourners that “I hear you.” Really? And then there was the time that Trump needed notes to express his racist and misogynistic hatred for some Democratic women in Congress. Including his opinion that these American citizens should leave the country, saying that “if you are not happy here, you can leave.”

Finally, Trump needed a written reminder about how to reply to the fact that he extorted Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an effort to manufacture dirt on then-candidate Joe Biden. It was what he was impeached for, the first time. His notes even included him repeating himself:

“I want nothing. I want nothing. I want no quid pro quo. Tell Zelensky — President Zelensky to do the right thing. This is the final word from the president of the United States: I want nothing.”

RELATED: Sean Hannity of Fox News Takes Lame Swing at Joe Biden, But Whacks Himself Instead

Of course, Fox News joined in on this Biden bashing with a story entitled “Biden caught using cue cards in trying to paper over Ukraine gaffe about ousting Putin.” Needless to say, Fox’s story never mentioned all the times that Trump also used “cue cards” when dispensing his lies. And Tucker Carlson devoted a segment on his Monday night program to calling for the 25th Amendment to be used against Biden. He ranted that…

“Uncontrollable flashes of anger are common among people who are aging, particularly among men, and they often accompany senility. Losing it is a very frustrating experience and your heart goes out to anyone who is.”

Do you suppose that Carlson recognizes that his criticism fits Trump better than it does Biden? Trump is a walking fount of incessant and unfiltered anger. While Biden is known for his composure and calm rationality. If anyone was a candidate for the 25th Amendment, it was Donald Trump. And, more troubling, it still is, as he makes noises about running again in 2024.

If anything, Trump has gotten even worse, as he continues to rage about the 2020 election and the size of the shrinking crowds at his cult rallies. Perhaps he should get someone to write notes for him that actually reflect reality. Because he’s definitely not aware of it himself.

Former Anchor Chris Wallace Blasts Fox ‘News’ Programming that ‘Became Unsustainable’

The degree of disinformation that is disseminated every hour of every day by Fox News has been well documented. As a network that was concocted by an ultra-rightist media baron (Rupert Murdoch) and a Republican political operative (Roger Ailes), no rational person ever thought that it would be anything other than a mouthpiece for conservative propaganda.

Fox News, Bullshit Factory

However, few people imagined just how far over the edge Fox News would eventually go to distort the truth and defile journalism. In recent weeks Fox News has actually sided with America’s enemies. With slimy shitstirrers like Tucker Carlson embracing Vladimir Putin, and white-wingers like Laura Ingraham attacking Ukrainian refugees, it’s no wonder that Russia’s foreign minister effusively praises the network.

RELATED: Only on Fox News: Russian Foreign Minister Praises the Network’s Pro-Putin Propaganda

The New York Times has now published an interview of former Fox News anchor, Chris Wallace. He was with Fox for nearly twenty years. This year he announced that he would be joining CNN to host a show on CNN+, their new streaming channel that will debut this month. He said at the time that his reasons for ditching Fox included some of the repugnant positions taken by his colleagues. The Times interview began by quoting Wallace saying that “I just no longer felt comfortable with the programming at Fox.” He elaborated…

“‘I’m fine with opinion: conservative opinion, liberal opinion,’ Mr. Wallace said in his first extensive interview about his decision to leave. ‘But when people start to question the truth — Who won the 2020 election? Was Jan. 6 an insurrection? — I found that unsustainable.'”

[…and…]

“Wallace also acknowledged that he felt a shift at Fox News in the months after Donald J. Trump’s defeat in 2020 — a period when the channel ended its 7 p.m. newscast, fired the political editor who helped project a Trump loss in Arizona on election night and promoted hosts like Mr. Carlson who downplayed the Jan. 6 riot.

“He confirmed reports that he was so alarmed by Mr. Carlson’s documentary ‘Patriot Purge’ – which falsely suggested the Jan. 6 Capitol riot was a ‘false flag’ operation intended to demonize conservatives – that he complained directly to Fox News management.”

RELATED: Breaking Down the Crocumentary By Tucker Carlson that Glorifies ‘False Flag’ Insurrection

Wallace’s insights about Fox News may have been a long time coming (which he addresses in the Times interview), but they are nevertheless relevant for having been derived from a couple of decades of personal experience. And it was clear that his eyes were being pried open in the months that preceded his divorce from Donald Trump’s Ministry of Disinformation and Republican Propaganda Pusher. For instance…

Sadly, Wallace’s criticisms will fall on deaf ears at Fox News. The network is being held hostage by the worst reprobates on its rat-filled roster. They are obviously too afraid of Tucker Carlson to challenge him and his traitorous rhetoric that has garnered such a devoted following of cult members. Consequently we can expect the parade of lies and anti-American tirades to continue for the foreseeable future.

Fox News Spurns Ukrainians Coming to the US Because ‘They’re Doing Great for a Group of War Refugees’

From the onset of the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, Fox News has staked out a deplorable, inhumane, and anti-American position in favor of Vladimir Putin’s genocidal assault on a peaceful neighbor. It’s been so blatant that Russia’s foreign minister went out of his way to praise the network saying that “only Fox News is trying to present some alternative point of view.”

Click here to Tweet this article

Fox News Sad

Praise for Putin is not, however, an “alternative view” on Fox News. It is the official editorial doctrine of the network and its most watched programs. Tucker Carlson has argued fiercely in support of Russia over Ukraine, and more specifically – and despicably – in favor of Putin continuing his reign of brutal tyranny.

Not to be outdone, Carlson’s fellow hate monger, Laura Ingraham, presided over a profoundly insensitive segment on Friday night’s episode of her White Nationalist Hour. In a discussion about the refugee crisis stemming from the war in Ukraine, Ingraham interviewed Todd Bensman of the far-right, racist, and notoriously anti-immigrant Center for Immigration Studies. Ingraham began her loathsome discourse with a wholly disingenuous appeal for compassion (video below):

“The Biden administration announced yesterday that we would welcome 100,000 Ukrainian refugees. Obviously, our hearts break for the people in Ukraine. It is absolutely horrific what has happened to them. But is bringing them all the way to the United States in their best interest? And what about the U.S. taxpayers?”

It is, indeed “horrific” what has happened to the Ukrainian people, which is the direct result of the foreign policy advocated by Fox News. Ingraham went on to preface her first question with the assertion that it is “a fable that these Ukrainian war refugees desperately need American sanctuary.” Benson replied that…

“There’s really no reason whatsoever for Ukrainians to be coming to our border or for us to be bringing in huge swells, numbers of Ukrainians here. They’re doing great for a group of war refugees.”

WTF? The three million plus refugees pouring into Poland and other nations are suffering unimaginable hardships, despite the goodhearted intentions of the countries welcoming them. They are living in tents, if they’re lucky, and are struggling to obtain food, medicine, and other necessities. How is that by any stretch of a diseased imagination “doing great”? Bensman went on to say that…

“It’s utterly unnecessary to do this. I understand the plight, I think we all understand, that these are definitely a victimized nationality. But remember, we also have a lot of Ukrainians smuggling or flying into Mexico and coming up to our southern border. That’s the one I worry about the most, because our southern border is utterly collapsing right now.”

So in addition to trivializing the misery of the Ukrainian refugees, Bensman managed to twist this discussion into one of Fox’s favorite right-wing propaganda topics, America’s southern border. He seems to be arguing that we still need a border wall to keep out the Ukrainians. However, he’s actually making a good case for more compassion for the Latin American refugees who are also fleeing hostilities and poverty in their home countries.

Something that both Ingraham and Bensman have neglected to consider are the reasons that the U.S. is offering to help Ukrainians. Those reasons are clearly stated in the White House Fact Sheet on the subject, if they had bothered to read it:

“While we expect many Ukrainians will choose to remain in Europe close to family and their homes in Ukraine, today, the United States is announcing plans to welcome up to 100,000 Ukrainians and others fleeing Russia’s aggression through the full range of legal pathways, including the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program. In particular, we are working to expand and develop new programs with a focus on welcoming Ukrainians who have family members in the United States.”

So this policy seeks to take some of the burden off of Ukraine’s neighbors who are already doing so much to help. But in addition to that, it is uniting refugees with family members in the U.S. Not that that is something that Fox News or Republicans give a damn about considering their record of ripping families from south of the border apart. It’s all just a continuation of the right’s platform of hate and division. And it’s no less than what we expect of them.

Only on Fox News: Russian Foreign Minister Praises the Network’s Pro-Putin Propaganda

For anyone who wasn’t previously convinced that Fox News is serving as the U.S. bureau of the Kremlin’s Ministry of Disinformation, we now have concrete evidence that Russia has adopted the far-right network and exploits its anchors and guests to advance their propaganda mission.

Fox News Commies

Fox’s roster of right-wing ranters have abandoned any pretense to patriotism as they shill unabashedly for Russia. Their Senior Putin Apologist Tucker Carlson, stands out for his fealty to Vladimir Putin and his cheerleading for a Russian victory in its genocidal war on Ukraine.

That devotion to an editorial ideology that favors America’s enemies has now earned Fox News the admiration of Russia’s Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov. In an interview on the Kremlin sponsored RT cable channel, Lavrov lavished praise on Fox News as a singular voice for Russia’s interests (starts at 3:35):

“We understood long ago that there is no such thing as an independent Western media. You could take the United States, only Fox News is trying to present some alternative point of view. But when you see, you watch other channels, and when you watch, read social networks and Internet platforms, when the acting president was blocked. as you know. And this censorship continues in very big way.”

Lavrov’s tribute to Fox’s fawning over Russia was driven by the constant drumbeat of pro-Putin programming that dominates Fox’s schedule. When Lavrov says that “only Fox News is trying to present some alternative point of view,” what he means is that only Fox News will toe the official Kremlin line that Russia is the beleaguered party in the conflict with Ukraine, and that only Fox News will lie to advance that so-called “alternative point of view.” Apparently Lavrov has bought into the “alternative facts” theme made famous by former Trump White House Director of Newspeak, Kellyanne Conway.

What’s more, for Lavrov to complain about censorship in the U.S. is utterly bizarre. First of all, he doesn’t bother to document any censorship by the U.S. government whatsoever. The decisions of private companies to moderate their own websites is actually an affirmation of freedom in a democratic society. The government is not permitted to force those companies to act according to some official mandate.

In Lavrov’s country, however, the government just passed a law that prohibits news organizations from reporting factually about the war Russia is waging against Ukraine. Media companies are being forced out of Russia, and journalists are being arrested and threatened. And what the heck does he mean by “the acting president was blocked”? Does Lavrov think that Trump still holds some official position in the U.S. government?

Lavrov went on to criticize CNN, saying that…

“If you take CNN, they they prefer to avoid analytical materials, and they more and more concentrate on some reports, which would be made of slogans. Russia is an aggressor. Russia is murdering civilians.”

Of course, the allegations of Russia being an aggressor and murdering civilians are not slogans. They are what free people refer to as facts. And Lavrov’s complaints about CNN avoiding “analytical material” makes about as much sense as Donald Trump complaining about U.S. cable companies that have ceased to carry openly pro-Russian propaganda outlets like One America News (OAN) and RT, the channel that Lavrov was interviewed on.

The harmony between the commentaries by Russia and Trump shouldn’t surprise anyone. Because they have long shared the same political objectives of suppressing free thought, destroying liberal democracies and supporting authoritarian dictatorships. No wonder Lavrov is so fond of both Trump and Fox News.

Maria Bartiromo Barks Out Bizarro Rant on Fox News About Biden Seeing Putin as a – Partner?

The gaslighting crusade of Fox News is still in full effect as they proselytize on behalf of Vladimir Putin while Russia is engaging in heinous war crimes in Ukraine. It is a mission that Fox has embraced throughout the Russian invasion of their peaceful neighbor.

Click here to Tweet this article

Fox News, Maria Bartiromo

On Sunday morning Maria Bartiromo did her part to blame – in the buzzwords of Donald Trump – America First. But what she offered was another crackpot conspiracy theory that maligned President Biden, the United States, and its allies in NATO and Europe. She began with some obviously concocted gossip about the “feelings” of what “some people” allegedly told her over the weekend…

“It seems that there is a predetermined outcome here in place. And that is a slow death to Ukraine and President Zelenskyy as the Russian forces continue to get closer. With all of these other fatalities that we’re talking about – and some people have told me over the weekend that they feel that, at the end of the day, this administration does not see Putin as the enemy, they see him as a partner on many issues. They see him as a partner on climate change. They see him as a partner on the Iran deal. When is this administration gonna get serious in telling Vladimir Putin ‘We are done with partnerships’?”

Coming from Fox News, the allegation that Biden sees Putin as a partner could not be more preposterous. The network has been championing Putin for weeks as his armies have devastated the cities of Ukraine. Bartiromo herself took the position that all the fuss about the invasion was really just a tactic to deflect from some bogus charges against Hillary Clinton:

“Was this a ruse? Was this whole thing an effort to take everybody’s attention away from what Hillary Clinton did, and what we know to be a complete hoax over this Russia investigation?”

https://twitter.com/RonFilipkowski/status/1493968337176563724

The biggest partner that Putin has is Fox’s own Tucker Carlson. He recently enumerated his reasons for why no one should hate Vladimir Putin. And he followed that up with a commentary pleading to keep Putin in power. Clips from his program are regularly replayed on Russian state TV. In fact, Mother Jones acquired memos from the Kremlin ordering them to “feature Tucker Carlson in their coverage of the #Ukraine war ‘as much as possible.'” The memos said in part that…

“It is essential to use as much as possible fragments of broadcasts of the popular Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who sharply criticizes the actions of the United States [and] NATO, their negative role in unleashing the conflict in Ukraine, [and] the defiantly provocative behavior from the leadership of the Western countries and NATO towards the Russian Federation and towards President Putin, personally.”

Likewise, Trump has been fulfilling his role as Putin’s partner. Along with efforts to weaken NATO and the EU (a primary foreign policy goal of Russia), Trump complimented Putin on his Ukraine invasion, calling it “smart,” “savvy,” and “genius.” And Trump refuses to ever criticize Putin, even after relentless coaching from Sean Hannity. Trump even literally partnered with Russia to hack the email of Clinton and the Democratic National Committee.

For his part, Biden has been so forthright in punishing Putin and his Russian oligarchs that Fox News complained that the measures were to harsh. And yet, Bartiromo now has the audacity to suggest that it’s Biden who is Putin’s best friend? Clearly the determination by Fox News to disparage Biden and badmouth America has driven them into a state of severe delusional madness. Which, for them, wasn’t a very long drive.

Stop Propping Up Putin: If McDonald’s Can Pull Out of Russia, They Can Pull Out of Fox News

Fox News and the Republican Party often appear to be taking Russia’s side in their brutal assault against Ukraine. That isn’t accidental. It’s by design. The network is wholly committed to whatever will reflect most negatively on President Biden, as well as being devoted to aligning with the deviant doctrines of Putin parasite, Donald Trump.

Fox News, Vladimir Putin

On Friday’s edition of MSNBC’s Deadline White House, Nicolle Wallace interviewed former FBI assistant director for counterintelligence, Frank Figliuzzi. She warned that the application of the sort of disinformation that is so prevalent on Fox News “has been more and more disastrous,” and that “it’s going in the wrong direction.” Elaborating, she said that…

“The COVID disinformation literally killed people in this country. Disinformation about the election being stolen by the defeated ex-president led to a deadly insurrection at the United States Capitol. And now disinformation is propping up support for war crimes in Ukraine. Where is the coalition to fight back against the deadly effects of disinformation?”

Figliuzzi, replied that there’s nothing new about disinformation being used in war time. What’s different today is “social media, with the speed of pressing the send button” at 24 hour cable networks that are “entertainment really, not news.” He also noted that we had a president who was, and is, “clinging to the disinformation.” Figliuzzi went on to propose a partial solution…

“So where’s the solution? We’re behind the curve. We need to legislate to regulate social media. We need to get those who still sponsor and advertise on this so-called entertainment channel we’re talking about [Fox News], and the others, to pull off of them. If we can pull off out of Russia – If McDonald’s can pull out of Russia, they can pull out of Fox News. We need an all hands on deck, holistic approach to stop what’s hurting us the most – disinformation on a deadly level.”

Later the same day on MSNBC’s 11th Hour, Stephanie Ruhle asked Russian television analyst Julia Davis, why Russian TV would use clips of Tucker Carlson. Davis replied that it’s “Because he sounds like one of the Kremlin pundits on State TV.”

Tucker Carlson is perhaps the most shameless Russian propagandist on Fox News. He recently enumerated his reasons for why no one should hate Vladimir Putin. And he followed that up with a commentary pleading to keep Putin in power. Carlson is so brazen in his bootlicking that it isn’t surprising to see clips from his program regularly replayed on Russian state TV.

Carlson argues that the U.S. is to blame for Russia invading Ukraine, and the Biden administration is too harsh in its response. He opposes the sanctions on Russia and Putin’s oligarchs. On Friday night he fear mongered that sanctions imposed on Russian oligarchs are a just prelude to similar actions taken against Americans. So what? Given the PR push that Fox News provides to our Russian enemy, Rupert Murdoch deserves to be sanctioned, just like any other enemy oligarch. Then Carlson complained that…

“…the Biden administration declared total economic war on a sovereign country. No American had been killed. The United States had not been invaded or attacked and yet, with no meaningful public debate or congressional authorization, the Biden administration destroyed that country’s currency, then removed it from the international banking system.”

Actually, it was virtually every Western democratic nation that imposed the sanctions on Russia for attacking a peaceful neighbor without provocation. Carlson apparently would prefer that Russia be allowed to engage in genocidal empire building unchallenged. And the public has had sufficient debate to form an opinion. The vast majority of the American people strongly approve of Biden’s leadership of these sanctions. They also support additional sanctions on Russian oil, even if it causes prices to increase. But Carlson wasn’t through making an asinine embarrassment of himself:

“Then the [Biden] administration began seizing the property of people affiliated with that country [Russia] without a trial or due process of any kind, without even bothering to explain exactly what crime they had committed. No American government had ever done anything like that before.”

The only person who still needs an explanation for why these sanctions were imposed is Carlson. More importantly, Carlson desperately needs a refresher course in American history. Japanese Americans might have something to say about whether the U.S. has ever seized property, and even incarcerated people, without due process – more than a hundred thousand. The difference between then and now is that they were citizens who did nothing wrong, but the Russians being sanctioned are foreign enemies aiding and abetting the murder and terrorism in Ukraine.

Given the flagrantly anti-American propaganda disseminated by Fox News, Figliuzzi’s proposal is eminently sensible. Patriotic advertisers should voluntarily refuse to sponsor any program on Fox News as long as the network continues to give aid and comfort to our enemies. And if they decline to act responsibly on behalf of America – and humanity – then the people of the world should cease to patronize them.

Judge Cites Tucker Carlson as Validation of ‘Actual Malice’ in Defamation Suit Against Fox News

Ever since Donald Trump decisively lost the 2020 presidential election to Joe Biden, he and his confederacy of lunkheads have been asserting the “Big Lie” that millions of votes were switched, manufactured, deleted, or otherwise tampered with in order to deny Trump the victory that only resides in his diseased brain. He had over a year and more than sixty court cases to produce the proof of the conspiracy he alleged, but failed entirely to do so.

Click here to Tweet this article

Fox News, Tucker Carlson

Trump’s partners in this charade included much of the right-wing mediaverse, most prominently Fox News. And as a result, Fox News was named in a pair of multi-billion dollar defamation lawsuits, one by Dominion Voting Systems, and one by Smartmatic. that they accused of “stealing” the election from Trump.

This week a judge hearing the Smartmatic case declined to grant a motion by Fox News to dismiss it. It was a serious blow to Fox that leaves the propaganda outlet in deep legal jeopardy. But part of the judge’s reasoning for allowing the case to proceed must be profoundly embarrassing to Fox. According to the Washington Post

“The ruling repeatedly says Fox hosts, [Rudy] Giuliani and [Sydney] Powell made claims ‘without any evidence’ and ‘without any basis.’ It also says that claims made by Giuliani, Fox host Maria Bartiromo and now-former Fox Business host Lou Dobbs could meet the legal standard of claims being ‘so inherently improbable that only a reckless person would have put [them] in circulation.‘ […]

“In the course of laying out the legal requirements for Smartmatic to prove its case, the judge noted that the company must prove Fox met the standard of acting with ‘actual malice’ — i.e. not merely promoting false claims, but doing so with malice. And on that count, the judge says the best evidence that it did is Carlson.

That’s right! Tucker Carlson is Smartmatics’s best witness to certify that Fox News behaved with “actual malice” to defame the company. The judge’s ruling elaborated, saying that…

“Ironically, the statements of Tucker Carlson, perhaps the most popular Fox News host, militate most strongly in favor of a possible finding that there is a substantial basis that Fox News acted with actual malice.”

RELATED: Hillary Clinton also warned Fox News that They’re getting awfully close to actual malice in their attacks.”

The judge also wrote that because “Powell never provided the evidence requested by Carlson, and President Trump’s campaign advised Carlson that it knew of no such evidence [that] Fox News knew, or should have known” that the allegations were false.

What the judge was referring to was a commentary that Carlson delivered last November on his program wherein he described an interaction he had with former Trump lawyer Sydney Powell. He outlined her preposterous and utterly baseless allegations of voting machine tampering that, the disclosure of which, she said would be “biblical.” And despite her lack of any evidence, Carlson pointedly declared that he didn’t dismiss any of it. Because why would a shameless sham monger like Carlson care about evidence?

Nevertheless, he did ask her to present whatever evidence she had. She not only refused to do so, she got angry at him and told him to stop contacting her. But his having asked is what serves as the basis for the lawsuit meeting the “actual malice” standard. So Carlson isn’t validating the claim of defamation because he was caught lying, as one might expect. His validation is in the fact that he actually demonstrated that the election lies told on Fox News were deliberate and malicious.

In other words, Carlson is being cited in court as the truthteller on Fox who exposed his colleagues as defamers. How karmically perfect, albeit bizarre, is that?

Jon Stewart Wants to Know How Fox News Can Put a Sh**head Like Tucker Carlson on TV Every Night

Times are getting harder for the depraved purveyors of propaganda at Fox News. For months they have been literally rooting for the U.S. economy to take a dive. And the escalating catastrophe in Ukraine is exposing the fervent anti-American and brazenly pro-Putin attitudes of Fox’s most pompous pundits.

Click here to Tweet this article

Fox News, Tucker Carlson, Bullshit Factory

Unfortunately for Fox News, the economy hasn’t cooperated with their doomsday dreams. President Biden continues to preside over the strongest economic recovery in decades. And even diehard disinformation disseminators like Tucker Carlson have had to chill their Russian cheering as Putin’s war crimes become ever more evident. And with the worst of the COVID crisis appearing to wane, the pandemic deniers at Fox are running out of apocalypse stories to shove down the throats of their viewers.

That, however, hasn’t deterred Fox from ramping up their efforts to sow discord, fear, and heinous lies intended to rile up the ranks of the deplorables. It’s just made their efforts more preposterous. Among those who have noticed this descent into the depths of depravity is comedian Jon Stewart. In an episode of the “Sway” podcast for the New York Times, Stewart posed some serious questions for Fox News founder Rupert Murdoch. And it’s especially fitting that a comedian like Stewart is expressing himself at a time when a former comedian in Ukraine – President Volodymyr Zelenskyy – is demonstrating uncommon courage.

Jon Stewart began by pointedly asking why Murdoch was “trying to destroy the fabric of this country.” Then, noting the brick wall obstructionism of the Republican Party, Stewart observed that “for years it’s been pretty clear that they would much rather do a deal with Putin than Pelosi.” But Stewart was just getting started. He went on to question Murdoch’s motivation for foisting noxious provocateurs like Tucker Carlson on the public:

“I don’t know if it’s ideological or he just thinks, this is where the money is. But how somebody can in good conscience put a shithead like that on television every night to say those types of things? That’s where the responsibility lies in my mind.”

Stewart’s questions actually answer themselves with “all of the above.” For Murdoch it is very definitely ideological. He has been an ultra-right extremist for the whole of his adult life. And he has pushed his views on the most naïve in the TV flock via his media empire on at least three continents. Simultaneously, he has packaged his rancid conservatism to an undiscerning audience whose ignorance he both creates and exploits financially.

Finally, Murdoch, it is clear, has no conscience. So promoting a despicable cretin like Carlson doesn’t bother him a bit. Even though Carlson, as Stewart points out, is an admitted liar. Here he is admitting it…

“I lie if I’m really cornered or something. I lie. I really try not to. I try never to lie on TV. I just don’t — I don’t like lying. I certainly do it, you know, out of weakness or whatever.”

Carlson “tries” not to lie on TV? He obviously isn’t trying very hard, because he does every night. Repeatedly. In fact, Carlson so notorious for his dishonesty that Fox News used it as a defense against defamation. They actually argued in court – successfully – that “given Mr. Carlson’s reputation, any reasonable viewer ‘arrive[s] with an appropriate amount of skepticism’ about the statements he makes.”

In other words, Carlson is a known liar whose commentaries can be dismissed out of hand as the ravings of an unhinged “shithead,” as Stewart so poignantly put it. And yet, Carlson’s viewers still cling to his every lie. so what does that make them?

When a Fox News Shill Finally Admits He’s Wrong, but Still Blames it on the the Black VP

Leave it to Fox News to find a way to absolve itself of all guilt for monumental mistakes that they actually admit to having made. That’s what Tucker Carlson managed to do on the Thursday night episode of his notoriously wrong program when he conceded that he misjudged the magnitude of the catastrophe in Ukraine.

Fox News Commies

Carlson has been wrong about virtually everything he’s said about Russia’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine, a nation whose citizens are being slaughtered or forced to become refugees. From the start Carlson has embraced Vladimir Putin and even argued against sanctions or any effort to depose him.

However, now the news from Ukraine has gotten even more grim. More than a million Ukrainians have fled the country, and Putin’s forces are attacking a nuclear power plant. In light of this, Carlson is trying to walk back his prior support for Russia (video below) by pretending to take the matter more seriously. He has finally conceded that Putin’s invasion of Ukraine has produced a catastrophe that is “spinning out of control” and …

“That, we must be honest, is shocking to us. We’ve been taken by surprise by the whole thing. We’re not the only ones who were. But we’re willing to admit it. The only think more embarrassing in being wrong in your estimates is pretending that you weren’t.”

Carlson’s contention that he “must be honest” would be a first for him. But at least he appears to be taking some responsibility for his grossly flawed analyses in the recent past. Although there is something that is even more embarrassing than pretending you weren’t wrong. That’s pretending that somebody else was responsible for your being wrong. Which is what Carlson did…

“So why didn’t we see this coming, this total loss of control? Well, because we assumed that if things were dire, serious people would be involved in fixing them. But we looked up and we saw Kamala Harris involved and that reassured us.

“Harris had just come back from Europe where she’d been conducting diplomacy with our allies, and that appeared to be proof that this could not really be a big deal. If the situation in Ukraine had been legitimately serious, if the future of Europe and the world hung in the balance, as now so obviously it does, of course the Biden administration would not have sent Kamala Harris to fix it. Cause that’s not her job.”

So it wasn’t Carlson’s fault at all that he was wrong. It was just because he relied on his own ludicrous appraisal of Harris as being an irrelevant fixture in the White House. Harris, of course, is the Vice-President of the United States, a former U.S. senator, and former California Attorney General. And she and Biden were right all along in predicting that Putin would invade. But Carlson, wearing his smug sarcasm face, sought to belittle the VP’s duties. In his warped perspective…

“Kamala Harris’ job is to trot down to the blue room periodically to greet delegations of Tik Tok influencers, or cut PSAs for dental health care awareness month, which is in February, so we assumed she’d be working on that right now. But averting war with Russia? Saving the civilize world? Come on. That’s absolutely no Kamala Harris’ job.”

It is absolutely not Tucker Carlson’s job to define what Kamala Harris’ job is. That is President Biden’s job. And many presidents have given important assignments to their vice-presidents. Trump, you may recall, made Mike Pence his White House Commander of the Space Force. As for Carlson, his job is to spread ignorance, lies, propaganda, and racism on behalf a former reality TV game show host (Donald Trump) and a foreign born, ultra-rightist media magnate (Rupert Murdoch). But by his own admission, Carlson made assumptions that led to his admittedly erroneous analysis of the Ukraine situation…

“That was our assumption. But, as noted, we were wrong. Why were we wrong? Well, we spend a lot of time watching Kamala Harris. You probably don’t. Unless you are a junior producer at MSNBC, you’re probably not that familiar with Kamala Harris. We should say, by the way, that we didn’t underestimate Vladimir Putin, we overestimated Joe Biden.”

Now, in addition to Carlson blaming his own cognitive failures on the Black woman VP, he is implying that his viewers are too stupid to know anything about her. Well, as he said earlier, he “must be honest,” and this time he is. At least with respect to his assessment of the intelligence of his audience.

It’s fitting that Carlson closed by taking another swipe at Biden and planting another wet kiss on his hero, Vladimir. The blatantly unpatriotic stance taken by Carlson, and his confederates at Fox News, is the most consistent feature of Fox and the Republican Party for whom it is the PR machine.

It’s just too bad that such toxic anti-Americanism continues to be disseminated by greedy television distributors. They recently saw the light and ditched the RT (Russia Today) channel because of its ties to, and support for Russia. They would do well now to cancel the primary source of Russian propaganda in America, Fox News.

Fox News Senior Putin Apologist, Tucker Carlson, Pleads to Keep the Russian Dictator in Power

As the situation in Ukraine grows more dire every day, Fox News grows more diarrheal, excreting vast quantities of waste matter that only matters to the deluded deplorables who are glued to the network’s lies and propaganda. And leading the discharge is Fox’s top rated Tucker Carlson, who has distinguished himself of late as Russia’s favorite American turncoat.

Fox News, Tucker Carlson

In recent weeks Carlson has itemized his reasons for why nobody should hate Vladimir Putin, even as Putin leads Russia’s murderous rampage in Ukraine. Carlson is articulating precisely the same opinion that Donald Trump has of Putin. And they both have the same infatuation with Donald Trump.

Carlson briefly tried to moderate his Putin lust. But it was such an awkward feat of hypocrisy that he couldn’t sustain it for more than a day or two. So now Carlson is back to drooling adoringly and defending Putin. On his Wednesday night program he delivered a dialogue opposing the sanctions that the U.S. and most of the free world are imposing on Russia. And if that weren’t bad enough, Carlson also made a plaintive plea on behalf of Putin keeping his job as Russia’s top totalitarian tyrant.

Carlson began by asserting that he would withhold judgment on whether the course of action taken by the NATO alliance was a wise course. Which was followed by him unleashing the judgment he just finished saying he would withhold. He sarcastically whined that reflecting on moral implications, or thinking about your own country is a crime, and even treasonous. Then Carlson dived into one of favorite pastimes, asking asinine rhetorical questions:

“What’s the point of all of this? Putin is bad. No one in America is gonna argue with that [except Carlson, Trump and other right-wingers already have]. But will destroying the entire Russian economy make Putin less bad? Will it make Russian troops withdraw from Ukraine? And if it will, how exactly will that work, and how long will it take?

Or is the plan even bigger than that? If they did, we can force Vladimir Putin from office entirely. Okay. Will that work? And if it does work, what happens to Russia after Vladimir Putin leaves? Would the next Russian president be an improvement over Putin?”

So Carlson, with his BA in history and no experience in diplomacy, is against the stiff sanctions that the rest of the world’s most knowledgeable foreign policy experts think are necessary and effective. That’s so considerate of him to be worried about his Russian oligarch pals, rather than the people of Ukraine who are being slaughtered and forced to leave their homeland as refugees.

Even worse, Carlson is arguing that Putin should be allowed to remain in power because his successor could be worse. Do you suppose that Carlson would have used the same argument for keeping Hitler in power? Apparently he believes that all of the world’s monstrous leaders should be left to commit whatever crimes against humanity they like.

Obviously that doctrine is pure idiocy. If there is a genocidal madman running a nation and attacking other nations, he needs to be constrained and, if necessary, removed from power. You worry about his successor, who under the circumstance is likely to be more moderate or suffer the same fate, after you excise the immediate problem. Unless, that is, you are Tucker Carlson and you have a fuehrer fetish. Which is, by the way, what draws him to Trump.
