Trump Has Made His Decision to Chicken Out of the First GOP Primary Debate on Fox News

The roster of candidates for the 2024 Republican nomination for president is surprisingly long considering that the former GOP White House occupant is a candidate himself and is trouncing his rivals in the polls. That’s an indication that trouble is brewing for Donald Trump, and his party cohorts are willing to exploit it.

Trump’s troubles are Titanic in scope. He has already been indicted on more than seventy felony counts ranging from violations of the Espionage Act, to paying hush money to a porn star, to obstruction of justice. And that isn’t counting the probable new charges related to his inciting the January 6th insurrection and staging an anti-democratic coup.

RELATED: Trump is OUTRAGED He Wasn’t Indicted Years Ago, While Desperately Trying to Delay His Trials

In the midst of this political apocalypse, the Republican Party is preparing for the the first presidential primary debate. It will be held August 23, and broadcast on Fox News. The candidates that have met the criteria for participation so far are Trump, Ron DeSantis, Chris Christie, Nikki Haley, Tim Scott, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Doug Burgum. Which is not exactly anyone’s idea of an electoral “A” list.

In what must be a humiliating descent into obscurity, Mike Pence has yet to qualify. For his part, Trump has been teasing for weeks that he would not join the contest for America’s Biggest Loser. Why should he, since he already won that title in 2020? However, Trump’s foremost motivation for missing the debate is fear. He has always proven to be afraid of participating in any event that he doesn’t control. That’s why all of his appearances are either on friendly MAGA media or at his own cult rallies.

SEE ALSO: Trump Previews His Excuses for Chickening Out of the Fox News Republican Primary Debate

On Monday morning Trump posted a comment on his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, that appears to put to rest the speculation about whether he would have the guts to debate his GOP peers. The post said simply…

“Let them debate so I can see who I MIGHT consider for Vice President!”

Notice that he refers to letting “them” debate, explicitly separating himself from the rabble. And his only interest in the affair is that it might serve as a casting call for his vice-president, were he to become the nominee. Which, given his legal peril, is not a foregone conclusion. Also, does anyone think that Trump would actually consider Ron DeSantis or Chris Christie as possible running mates?

The madness of Trump was also evident in other comments he posted. For instance, he alt-tweeted his prediction of more criminal charges saying that “I assume that an Indictment from Deranged Jack Smith and his highly partisan gang of Thugs…will be coming out any day now.” And he slandered President Biden by asserting with zero evidence that “Crooked Joe Biden stole Millions and Millions of Dollars from China.”

Perhaps the most pitiful display of ignorance was his failure to comprehend double jeopardy. He clearly doesn’t grasp the difference between an impeachment and an indictment when he claims that it is “ridiculous” for special counsel Jack Smith to charge him because he has already “been fully acquitted, in the U.S. Senate.” And for the record, a bipartisan majority of 57 senators voted to convict Trump of crimes related to his role in the January 6th insurrection, which was shy of the 67 needed for passage.

No wonder Trump is to scared to show up for the debate. He would have to account for his multitude of criminal offenses, along with his record of incompetence, corruption, and chaos, as the alleged president. And while most of the candidates on the stage are just as cowardly as Trump – they still refuse to openly attack him at the risk of angering his cult – he would still have to face occasional criticism (i.e. from Chris Christie) that he would be incapable of responding to coherently.

What’s more, Trump’s fear also extends to Fox News as the host of the debate. His dysfunctional relationship with the network infamous goes back many years. So perhaps it’s for the best that he’s too scared to show. He can only make things worse if he does.

Trump is OUTRAGED He Wasn’t Indicted Years Ago, While Desperately Trying to Delay His Trials

As Donald Trump’s legal jeopardy mounts, his behavior descends into ever deeper displays of anguish. This week special counsel Jack Smith amended the indictment already filed to add new counts that primarily address Trump’s frantic efforts to cover up the crimes previously charged.

Donald Trump Angry

Throughout Trump’s cavalcade of corruption, he has responded mainly by hurling pathetic insults at the prosecutors and judges that he believes have been recruited by his enemies for the express purpose of tormenting him. He has yet to present anything that resembles a coherent defense based on facts or evidence that might attest to his innocence.

RELATED: Snowflake Trump Whines to DOJ that ‘An Indictment of Me Would Only Further Destroy Our Country’

On Saturday Trump lashed out again at the judicial “radicals” and “thugs” that he is convinced are colluding to destroy him. At his latest cult rally, Trump introduced a unique argument for why he shouldn’t be held to account for his multitude of crimes…

“Why didn’t the corrupt Marxist prosecutors bring these radical and unjustified charges against me two and half years ago, They had two and half years. Two and half years. Nobody even knew they were looking at it. I don’t think they were. But they waited two and half, almost three years so that they could bring them right in the middle of my presidential election, because it’s election interference. These are crooked people.”

So Trump now seems to believe that the charges against him are unfair and unwarranted because they weren’t brought two and half years ago – in January of 2021 – just a few days after he left the White House and President Biden was inaugurated. It was also only three weeks after the violent January 6th insurrection that he incited.

Apparently Trump thinks that those few days were enough time to investigate his attempted coup and his plot to undermine democracy. And not only that, but he also thinks that it was sufficient time to build a case for his having stolen and hoarded hundreds of classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago hotel/home, that authorities didn’t even know about at the time. When he says that “Nobody even knew they were looking at it. I don’t think they were,” he’s actually right. but not for the reasons swirling in the soup of his steaming psychosis.

Furthermore, can you imagine Trump’s response if he had been charged that quickly? He would have been correct to condemn it as a rush to judgment. But since the Justice Department and the special counsel were measured and respectful of the law, Trump is complaining that they waited too long. And set aside that it is preposterous to assert that bringing these charges a year and half before the 2024 election is “the middle” of the campaign. It is assuredly not “election interference” or “prosecutorial misconduct” as Trump has been yammering.

Trump’s whining because these charges weren’t brought against him sooner is ludicrous on its face. But if he were sincere about wanting this affair to conclude, why has he been the one engaging in endless delaying tactics? Why doesn’t he allow the case to go to trial on December 11, as the the special counsel has proposed? Trump rejected that date as being too soon, and proposed that the trial be postponed until – well, never – or at least after November 2024. So by Trump’s perverse logic, it’s too late to bring the charges, but too soon to hold the trial.

Trump, of course, is only trying to avoid the inevitable. He knows that he’s guilty and is terrified of having to face the consequences. A defendant who is confidant of their innocence would want to clear their name as quickly as possible, particularly if they were running for elective office. But Trump has been jamming on the brakes, and even obstructing justice, because he knows the truth: that his getting acquitted at trial is as likely as his getting a Nobel prize for chemistry.

Trump’s ‘Big Lie’ Lawsuit Against CNN Tossed By Court Because Truth is Not Defamation

The most litigious president in American history is unquestionably Donald Trump. He has a penchant for suing anyone and everyone, generally without any legal merit, as a means of retribution and to punish his political enemies for daring to challenge his delusional divinity.

Click here to Tweet this article

Donald Trump, CNN

Trump’s most frequent attempts to abuse the court system have been through his challenges to the outcome of the 2020 presidential election. He and his associates lost at least sixty such lawsuits, mostly for failing utterly to provide a shred of evidence supporting his baseless assertions of voter fraud. The parade of frivolous litigation came to be referred to by politicians and the press as Trump’s “Big Lie.” And that triggered the perpetually perturbed Trump to file a lawsuit against CNN for defamation.

SEE THIS: Trump Attorney Announces Laughable Lawsuit Against CNN for Accurately Calling Trump a Liar

On Friday Trump’s case against CNN was thrown out of court for failing to present any argument that the reporting by CNN wasn’t actually true. According to Deadline

“A federal judge dismissed Donald Trump’s $475 million defamation lawsuit against CNN, litigation centered on references made by on-air figures to “the Big Lie,” or the former president’s unfounded claims that the 2020 presidential election was stolen from him.

Trump had argued in his lawsuit, filed in federal court in Florida, that the references to the phrase were defamatory as they created a “false and incendiary association” between him and Adolf Hitler.”

U.S. District Judge Raag Singhal, a Trump appointee, ruled that the lawsuit cited CNN segments that were merely “a stacking of inferences that cannot support a finding of falsehood.” In other words, Trump could not prove that describing his unfounded claims of election fraud as the “Big Lie” was untrue. And as always, truth is the best defense against defamation. CNN’s reporting, according to the court, was lawful opinion, and Trump failed to make a plausible argument that it was in any way false.

The court also appropriately refused to entertain Trump’s complaint that associating him with a phrase that has been attributed to Hitler’s Nazi propaganda chief, Joseph Goebbels, was defamatory. How could it be when such associations are objectively true. Trump has been a far more prolific and flagrant disseminator of lies and propaganda than the Nazi regime. If anything, Hitler might have a better case of defamation for being associated with Trump.

Many of Trump’s misadventures in legal malpractice involve the media. He is especially anxious to try to muzzle the free press that he believes is out to get him. Consequently, he has sued everyone from CNN, to the Washington Post, to Twitter, and more. He even sued the Pulitzer board for awarding prizes to newspapers that honestly reported on his unsavory ties to Russia.

SEE ALSO: Trump Sues the Pulitzer Prize Board for Honoring Accurate Stories of His Russian Collusion

Trump has yet to prevail in of his defamation lawsuits. That’s because he has never even bothered to present a coherent argument that he was defamed or suffered any damages to his already repugnant reputation. It has always been a poorly staged melodrama of malice meant to bully those he hated or feared. And his record of losses is the best evidence of his disingenuous intent. Yet somehow, he persists in these losing causes no matter how many times he is struck down in humiliation.

Fox News Shill Holds Pity Party for Trump Accomplices Who ‘Just Did What the Boss Said’

Having become the first American president to be criminally indicted is apparently not a fulfilling enough historical achievement for Donald Trump. He now seems bent on also securing the record for the most felony counts. And with more than seventy so far, he’s taken what may be an insurmountable lead in that pursuit.

Fox News, Donald Trump Baby

Everyday appears to bring new and more damning evidence of the corruption and obsessive criminality of Trump. And as he recognizes the depth of his legal peril, his tantrums become ever more rancid and removed from reality. Trump is fixated on his perception of himself as victim. And despite the abundance of evidence against him, he keeps returning to his tedious whining about “witch hunts,” and “election interference.”

SEE THIS: Snowflake Trump Whines to DOJ that ‘An Indictment of Me Would Only Further Destroy Our Country’

On Thursday, special counsel Jack Smith announced a series of new charges against Trump as well as a couple of his close associates. The new charges are mainly related to Trump conspiring to cover up his prior crimes by destroying evidence, lying to law enforcement, and otherwise obstructing justice. Surprisingly, Fox News reported on these superseding indictments, and even provided an informative graphic detailing the allegations.

However, not everyone at Fox News was particularly happy about Trump’s latest legal liabilities. The “Curvy Couch” potatoes of Fox and Friends expressed a rare measure of empathy for the poor guys who were swept up in Trump’s treasonous plot. Co-host Ainsley Earhardt was especially concerned. In an interview with former federal prosecutor, Francey Hakes, Earhardt let her feelings be known…

“Why do you think they’re going after these people? First let’s start with Mar-a-Lago. One is the valet that turned into the property manager, worked for him for twenty years. Why are they going after these guys where their boss might have said ‘We’re not gonna hand over the video,’ or whatever, and they just did what the boss said?” […]

“I mean these guys just worked for him. You feel sorry for them. One started out as a valet and then he’s running the property twenty years later, and probably providing for his family. And now they’re trying to charge these guys so that they’ll flip on Donald Trump. And then you’ve got President Biden on the other side caught with the same thing, and where is that special counsel?”

Yeah! Why should these poor schnooks suffer just because they willingly participated in a conspiracy to obstruct justice and destroy evidence on behalf of the mob boss they’ve worked for for many years? After all, they started at the bottom of the crime syndicate and worked their way up to become trusted lieutenants to the ringleader. They were just following orders. They were just trying to provide for their families by helping to undermine democracy. Who can blame them?

Earhardt sympathetically sobs that you have to “feel sorry for them,” but she is less troubled by the fact that they broke the law, lied to authorities, and tampered with evidence. That’s the sort of behavior that is rewarded in Trump World if it’s done in furtherance of Trump’s treachery.

For his part, Trump is continuing to toss out tirades on his floundering Truth Social that he thinks will lead to his liberation. Following the new charges, Trump raged that Jack Smith and Merrick Garland (for whom he has a new nickname) should be imprisoned, saying that…

“They ought to throw Deranged Jack Smith and his Thug Prosecutors in jail, with Meritless Garland and Trump Hating Lisa Monaco. They have totally Weaponized the Department of Injustice. Whatever happened to the Crooked Joe Biden Boxes Case? […] Why has no other President ever been charged?”

Trump doesn’t bother to identify what laws any of them have violated. He just wants all of his political foes locked up because they dare to have respect for the law. As for why no other President ever been similarly charged, it’s simply because no other President has ever committed similar – and so many – crimes. And that’s a record that Trump can rest assured will prevail long into the future.

Snowflake Trump Whines to DOJ that ‘An Indictment of Me Would Only Further Destroy Our Country’

America is on “Indictment Watch” for the third (and possibly fourth) time in the post-Trump era. Not satisfied with being the first American president to be indicted, Donald Trump is endeavoring to secure his place in history by not just nailing down the first indictment, but also the most.

Donald Trump, Snowflakes

On Thursday morning the press reported that the Grand Jury investigating Trump’s role on the January 6th insurrection, and associated efforts to overthrow the government and subvert democracy, was meeting. The speculation was that they could be ready to announce the latest batch of charges against Trump for criminal violation of least three federal statutes, including deprivation of rights, conspiracy to defraud the U.S., and tampering with a witness. This was not unexpected by legal analysts, or even by Trump himself…

SEE THIS: Terrified Trump is Telegraphing that He Already Knows About New Indictments for January 6th

Trump’s anxious anticipation not withstanding, he immediately rushed to his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, to deny that anything was going on. His denial was particularly curious considering that he had already been predicting the imminent indictments. He yelped that…

“My attorneys had a productive meeting with the DOJ this morning, explaining in detail that I did nothing wrong, was advised by many lawyers, and that an Indictment of me would only further destroy our Country. No indication of notice was given during the meeting — Do not trust the Fake News on anything!”

Well, that should settle the whole matter then. Trump’s attorneys “explained” that he “did nothing wrong” and that “an Indictment of me would only further destroy our Country.” So naturally, special counsel Jack Smith will forthwith drop the case and return to his prior engagement in Switzerland.

Needless to say, Trump will not be getting off that easy. Smith’s team surely knew already that Trump would claim that he’s innocent. And the threat that his indictment would “further destroy our Country” is not only a ludicrous legal argument, it is the complete opposite of reality. Not indicting Trump would be far more dangerous for the country. It would set a precedent for future traitors aspiring to stage a violent coup.

Furthermore, Trump is just plain lying about not having been given what he oddly calls an “indication of notice” that he will be indicted. As noted above, he explicitly forecast it himself. What’s more, several days ago he acknowledged receiving a target letter from the special counsel, which is a de facto notice of the likelihood of an indictment.

Additionally, Trump has been begging his congressional cult devotees to rescue him from the legal abyss that he has created for himself. That’s another indication that he knew what was coming. He posted a video imploring “Congress, if you will, please investigate the political witch hunts against me currently being brought by the corrupt DOJ and FBI, who are totally out of control. […] Stop them now. Save our country.” That’s the same DOJ he is now saying he had a “productive” meeting with.

Of course, anyone with even the slimmest knowledge of government knows that Congress cannot stop a Justice Department investigation. But Trump has never been one to let reality encroach on his delusional perception of the world. So we can expect much more of this sort of silliness going forward.

UH-OH: Even Fox News Rejects the GOP’s ‘Evidence’ to Impeach Biden as ‘Completely Unverified’

The Republican obsession with impeaching President Biden is reaching new heights of absurdity. While there remains precisely the same amount of evidence for such a move – ZERO – the GOP is accelerating their march toward an utterly unwarranted and unethical political charade.

Click here to Tweet this article

Fox News, Joe Biden, Jill Biden, Friends

As the 2024 election season unfolds, Republicans are devoted to the issues foremost on the minds of the American people: boycotting Barbie, defending the twice impeached, twice indicted (so far), judicially confirmed rapist, Donald Trump, and impeaching Joe Biden. They have wholly abandoned the issues they ran on, such as anti-abortion laws, racist immigration policies, pandering to corporations and the wealthy, befouling the planet, and manufactured outrages against buzzwords like CRT, DEI, and “wokism.” So maybe the nation should be grateful that Republicans are too thickheaded to allow their minds to drift to matters that actually affect people’s lives.

SEE THIS: GOP Rep Tells Fox News He Would ‘Probably’ Impeach Biden for – Um – Zero Evidence of Any Crime

Republicans might not even be able pass an impeachment resolution against Biden. Some of their own members are reluctant to vote for it because they are in districts that Biden won. But GOP leadership has to appease their most ultra-MAGA faction. However, the GOP’s road to Biden’s impeachment has run into a bit of a sinkhole. The Republican Ministry of Propaganda (aka Fox News) has altered the anti-Biden road map. On Wednesday’s episode of Fox and Friends, co-host Steve Doocy let some actual morsels of reality loose in the studio. During a segment about the prospect of the House impaneling a Biden impeachment inquiry, GOP House Squeaker Kevin McCarthy enumerated his feeble reasons for doing so…

“You’ve got IRS whistleblowers saying something when it comes to government treating the Bidens different. You’ve got an informant claiming that the Biden family had been bribed. Should you ignore that or should you investigate that? The only way you can investigate that is through an impeachment inquiry. So the committee would have the power to get all the documents that they would need.”

Never mind that everything McCarthy referred to is at best hearsay. Not a single bit of it has been verified. And even Doocy of Fox News recognized that, telling his “Curvy Couch” potato colleagues, and Fox’s viewers, that Republicans are pedaling disinformation…

“We’ve seen this movie a couple of times before. First step, impeachment inquiry. Almost always it leads to an impeachment. I’ve heard from members of Congress on the Republican side, they are going to, they’re going to do the ‘I’ word of Joe Biden … And they’re going to use the 1023 form as the basis for everything.

“Here’s the problem … The 1023 form makes a damning case against the Bidens, but it’s completely unverified. And in fact, there are certain critical parts of the story that have been refuted by the people in the story! So it’s problematic. So that’s why Kevin McCarthy says we need other stuff, more documents.”

Exactly! Doocy is virtually alone at Fox News in acknowledging the fact that Republicans – and everyone else at Fox News – are purposefully lying about their case against Biden. They are basing it entirely on an FBI form that is used to record raw, unverified data acquired from unnamed sources whose credibility may be suspect.

The FBI describes the FD-1023 as a document that “does not validate the information, establish its credibility, or weigh it against other information known or developed by the FBI [and that it] regularly receives information from sources with significant potential biases” In this case, the unnamed source referenced in the FD-1023 actually refutes the claims by made by Republican scandal mongers.

SEE ALSO: GOP Rep Tells Fox News He Would ‘Probably’ Impeach Biden for – Um – Zero Evidence of Any Crime

What’s more, McCarthy is sorely uninformed about the role of Congress with regard to impeachment. It is not Congress’ job to investigate unfounded allegations. Their role is to consider whether facts brought out by qualified law enforcement investigations rise to the level of “high crimes and misdemeanors.” Not that Republicans care about any of that. They are focused solely on maligning Biden and other Democrats.

In fact, Shadow GOP House Speaker, Marjorie Taylor Greene, has already filed motions to impeach DHS Sec. Alejandro Mayorkas, FBI Director Chris Wray, D.C. U.S. Attorney Matthew Graves, and Attorney General Merrick Garland. Before she’s through there will likely be similar resolutions for everyone from Vice-President Kamala Harris, to Commander, the White House dog. And after McCarthy pushes through the preposterous resolutions to “expunge” Trump’s impeachments, what makes them think Democrats won’t do the same for Biden when they take back the majority next year? Maybe they could even expunge Trump’s presidency.

Ted Lieu Reads Federal Judge’s Confirmation that Trump is a Rapist Into Congressional Record

The legal and ethical failures of Donald Trump are historically unprecedented. He has been found to have stolen classified documents and hoarded them at his Mar-a-Lago hotel/home. He has defrauded his own supporters with fake universities and charities. He lied more than 40,000 times during his one-term occupying the White House.

Donald Trump, Woman, Fear

However, Trump’s personally atrocious behavior stands out among his multitude of atrocities. From the day that he told Access Hollywood that he could get away with grabbing women by their genitals, Trump has only exacerbated his reputation as a sleazeball. A jury recently found him liable for sexually abusing and defaming writer E. Jean Carrol. And the next day he appeared on a CNN town hall to defame her again.

RELATED: How Horrible Was CNN’s Lie-Riddled Trump Town Hall? Let’s See What CNN Has to Say About It

Following Trump’s loss to Carroll, Trump filed a motion for a new trial trial. That was an especially stupid notion, even for Trump. Why would he want to litigate all over again a case that was rife with evidence of his guilt? Well, now a federal judge has rejected Trump’s motion. But he went even further to affirm what the jury did note that by definition, Trump is indeed a rapist.

To make matters worse for Trump, Rep. Ted Lieu got the court’s ruling and read the parts that related to Trump’s assault of Carroll into the Congressional Record. It’s a disturbing account of Trump’s grotesquery, but a necessary thing for Americans to know. Rep. Lieu said that…

“On July 19, 2023, federal Judge Lewis Kaplan rejected Donald Trump’s request for a new trial and confirmed that Donald Trump raped E. Jean Carroll. I’m going to submit this Court ruling into the Congressional Record, and now I’m going to read you what the judge found.

“On page 43 the judge ‘wrote Miss Carroll testified that the sexual assault, the rape, of which she accused Mr Trump involved especially painful forced digital penetration.’ The judge further writes ‘The testimony of the outcry witnesses, Miss Bernbach and Miss Martin, corroborated the essence of Miss Carroll’s account of a violent traumatic sexual assault.’

“On page 44 the judge wrote ‘The jury’s finding of sexual abuse, therefore, necessarily implies that it found that Mr Trump forcibly penetrated her vagina.’ The judge further writes ‘In other words that he raped her.'”

There is nothing more to add to that. Trump has been appropriately defined for posterity. He still needs to be appropriately punished. Carroll won a $5 million judgment from Trump, and she has appealed to increase that amount following Trump’s continued offenses. For good measure, Trump is also awaiting trial on his 70+ felony counts stemming from his two indictments. And the third indictment is said to be imminent. Which is all the more ironic considering that Trump once insisted that presidential candidates under felony indictment have “no right to be running.”

GOP Wants a Government Shutdown Because ‘Most of What We Do is Bad, Hurts the American People’

The mission of the Republican Party to eviscerate the economy has been evident for months. Their intention is to cause the American people to suffer painful hardships in order to boost GOP electoral prospects in 2024. It’s an immoral and insensitive tactic that exposes their commitment to cruelty as a political weapon.

Donald Trump, Kevin McCarthy

Just two months ago, Republicans tried to hold the nation hostage with threats of defaulting on the national debt, which would have thrown the country – and the world – into a severe recession or worse. President Biden masterfully guided them into a negotiated compromise that avoided the devastating default. In the process he also got an agreement to fast-track the spending bills that would shortly be coming up for votes in the House.

RELATED: Squeaker McCarthy Desperately Lies About the Debt Ceiling Deal to Save His Shaky Speakership

All of that has apparently now been abandoned by Republicans. In a press conference on Tuesday, GOP House leaders appeared to be reneging on their prior agreements in order to squeeze Democrats for concessions on contentious, non-financial issues such as abortion, immigration, and equality.

Setting aside the GOP’s flagrantly bad faith in breaking previous promises, they also admitted to the sort of heinous intentions that would ordinarily never be mentioned out loud. Rep. Bob Good is a member of the ultra-MAGA House Freedom Caucus and chairman of the Health, Environment, Labor and Pensions Subcommittee. He came to the podium to discuss the prospect of a government shutdown, and to let the nation know precisely what Republicans think of the work they are doing allegedly on behalf of the American people…

“We should not fear a government shutdown. Most of what we do up here is bad anyway. Most of what we do up here hurts the American people, when we do stuff to the American people while promising to do things for the American people.”

Really? This is a leader of the Republican Party in the House confessing that the GOP is affirmatively (purposefully?) hurting people. They are the majority party, albeit by a small margin, and it is their policies that are brought up for votes on the House floor. But in Good’s opinion, those policies are detrimental and the country would be better off without them. It’s hard to disagree with him on that.

This is Good’s explanation for why a government shutdown should not be feared. He went on to say that “Essential operations continue,” and that “Most Americans won’t even miss if the government is shut down temporarily.” Sure, if you aren’t counting the millions of Americans who rely on government services related to everything from building permits, to interstate and international travel, to financial aid, to veterans benefits, to tax information and filing.

What’s more, according to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office, the last government shutdown cost the country $11 billion. But fortunately, not a single member of Congress lost a dime. Their salaries and perks were paid throughout the shutdown.

It will be interesting to see if House Squeaker Kevin McCarthy goes along with the radical right-wing fringe of his party. He has done so almost entirely in the few months that he has been in his post. That’s because he’s so afraid that his own members will turn on him and vote him out of the speakership if he is less than wholly submissive. He’s even hinting that he’ll go along with efforts to impeach President Biden, despite the total absence of any evidence of wrongdoing.

All the GOP has left at this point are threats to tank the economy, attacks on the Biden family, and boycotts of Barbie, Mickey Mouse, and light beer. Because that’s what they think the public wants from their representatives in Washington. That should work out well for them in next year’s elections.

Terrified Trump is Telegraphing that He Already Knows About New Indictments for January 6th

Donald Trump has already been indicted twice on 71 felony counts ranging from violations of the Espionage Act to obstruction of justice. That’s only 71 more than any other president or former president in the history of the United States. And since Trump loves to brag about being the best at everything, he can now be proud that in this one area he has actually achieved his goal.

Donald Trump, Prison

However, Trump is not resting on his laurels. There are still several indictments pending that he can add to his record. Under the circumstances, you might think that Trump would want to expedite the trials awaiting him, A defendant who was certain that he wasn’t guilty would want to prove his innocence as quickly as possible, particularly if he’s running for office again.

But, no. Trump is trying desperately to delay his trials. Probably because he’s knows he’s guilty and doesn’t want those verdicts to be in the news during his campaign. He’s also likely hoping to be reelected so that he can order his Justice Department to quash the cases against him or so that he can pardon himself. Ironically, he’s using the abundance of charges against him to justify his requests for delays. Perhaps, in retrospect, he shouldn’t have committed so many crimes that his trials are congesting the courts.

SEE THIS: WHUT? Trump Asks to Delay His Classified Docs Trial Because of All His Other Criminal Trials

In the meantime, Trump is throwing down temper tantrums on his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social. The tenor of his rants was especially harsh this weekend. In fact, Trump’s tirades appear to suggest that he has already been informed of new indictments coming down from special counsel Jack Smith who, in addition to his probes of Trump’s theft and hoarding classified documents, is investigating his role in the January 6th insurrection and efforts to subvert democracy. Note the escalating urgency and fear in his recent posts…

Trump alerts his cult devotees to “remember” that everyone is out to get him if anything new about his trials should come out:

“Every time you see these Radical Lunatics and their partners in the Fake News Media talking about the ‘Trials and Tribulations’ of President Donald J. Trump, please remember that it is all a coordinated HOAX.”

Trump is preparing his flock for the results of a well executed and financed investigation:

“Just think of it! Between Mueller, Deranged Jack Smith, and Congressional Committees, over 100 Million Dollars has been spent investigating me since I came down the escalator in Trump Tower.”

Trump frames any new charges as politically partisan, despite the fact that the investigations have been effectively shielded from politics:

“Merrick Garland, Deranged Jack Smith, and coordinating Democrat ‘Prosecutors’ in New York and Atlanta, have become the Campaign Managers for the most corrupt and incompetent President in United States history.”

Trump is now signaling that more indictments are imminent, while threatening the “MONSTERS” he fears::

“How many times can Crooked Joe Biden’s DEPARTMENT OF INJUSTICE … INDICT HIS POLITICAL OPPONENT DURING THE COURSE OF THE CAMPAIGN? … WE MUST STOP THESE ‘MONSTERS’ FROM FURTHER DESTROYING OUR COUNTRY!”

Trump curiously wonders why he wasn’t brought to justice sooner, and again implies that he’s aware of new charges:

“Why didn’t they bring these ridiculous charges years before?”

Trump begs for help from his sycophants in Congress:

“Why hasn’t Republican ‘leadership’ in the Senate spoken up and rebuked Crooked Joe Biden and the Radical Left Democrats, Fascists, and Marxists?”

He isn’t coming right and saying it, but Trump is openly implying that he has knowledge of new indictments. And it’s notable to recall that he was the one who revealed to the world his previous indictments, before the special counsel publicly announced them. Also notable was his outrage at law enforcement for doing their job and holding him accountable for his crimes. So it’s not irrelevant that he’s revisiting that outrage now.

Pelosi Skewers Squeaker McCarthy as ‘Pathetic’ for Trying to Expunge Trump’s Impeachments

The traumatic tribulations of Donald Trump continue to unfold as both his political and legal troubles escalate into the 2024 election season. Trump has already been indicted twice with a total of more than 70 felony counts of criminal conduct. And he is currently venting his anxiety over imminent new indictments related to the the January 6th insurrection that he incited.

Kevin McCarthy, House Speaker (Squeaker), Donald Trump

Special counsel, Jack Smith, is said to be readying the latest batch of charges against Trump. Meanwhile, his first batch has just received a court date of May 20, 2024, which Trump had hoped would be delayed until after the next election. As would be expected of a malignant narcissist under these circumstances, Trump is grasping desperately for help from the glassy-eyed disciples of his cult that reside in Congress and the right-wing press.

Among Trump’s most devoted congressional sycophants is Republican House Squeaker, Kevin McCarthy. And true to form, McCarthy is endeavoring to rescue his Dear Leader from the legal abyss. Although it may be more accurate to say that he is trying to rescue his speakership from the wrath of Trump and his MAGA caucus in Congress. In pursuit of that fear driven goal, McCarthy promised Trump that he would schedule a floor vote to “expunge” Trump’s two impeachments.

“About a month ago, the outlandish idea started to actually gain traction: Two prominent House Republicans — GOP Conference Chair Elise Stefanik and Marjorie Taylor Greene — introduced parallel resolutions to ‘expunge’ the former president’s impeachments, and a few days later, McCarthy surprised many by endorsing the gambit. ‘I think it is appropriate,’ the House speaker told reporters.”

For the record, there is no constitutional provision that would support such an expungement. At best it might give Trump a fig leaf with which to pretend – contrary to reality – that he had never been impeached. And on Sunday morning former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi made the same argument in a pointed way. Pelosi was asked by CNN’s Dana Bash about the matter: “You oversaw both of those impeachment proceedings. What’s your reaction to this?”

“Well, the president was impeached because we had no choice. He had undermined our national security, jeopardized our well being of our country. Kevin is playing politics. It is not even clear if he constitutionally can expunge those things. If he wants to put his members on the spot – his members in difficult races on spot – that is a decision he has to make. But this is not responsible. […]

“This is about being afraid. As I’ve said before, Donald Trump is the puppeteer and what does he do all of the time but shine the light on the strings. These people look pathetic.”

The notion that historic impeachments on the congressional record can simply be disappeared by crybaby members of a wingnut faction of the GOP is patently absurd. But it’s even worse than that. There is a fair chance that the motion to expunge won’t even pass. There are Republicans in districts that Biden won who are not anxious to relitigate these issues. In fact, several Republicans have already said that they won’t vote for it. And McCarthy has a razor-thin margin of five votes in order to succeed.

What’s more, just bringing the question to the floor means that a debate would ensue for at least several days rehashing all of the reasons that Trump was justifiably impeached to begin with. It would refresh the memories of the American people as to just how corrupt he is, at the same time that the new indictments are being revealed.

Anyone with half a brain would recognize what a terrible idea this is for Trump and the GOP. Democrats are salivating at the thought of reminding the nation that Trump is unfit for office as he’s trying to mount a campaign to win it back. However, acting on terrible ideas is pretty much the hallmark of modern Republicanism. Just take a look at what they have been doing in Congress since they assumed their bare majority earlier this year…
