YEAH RIGHT! Sean Hannity Thinks He Can Convince Democrats to Ditch Biden and Vote for RFK Jr

The campaign of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has been a bad joke from the start. He began seeking the nomination of the Democratic Party in a futile challenge to President Joe Biden. Recognizing the failure of that effort, he ditched the party and declared himself an independent.

Kennedy is hardly independent. He was recruited to run by Trump whisperer, Steve Bannon. His biggest donor also happens to be Trump’s biggest donor. He proudly poses for pictures with the likes of Russian asset Mike Flynn, and GOP dirty trickster Roger Stone, who are both longtime Trump flunkies. And he has been promoted regularly on Fox News.

In a flagrant dismissal of reality, Thursday night’s episode of Sean Hannity’s Fox News program featured Hannity giving a preposterous campaign speech aimed at converting Democrats from Biden supporters to Kennedy. You have to wonder who Hannity thinks he was preaching to. It’s not as if there are any Democrats watching his show or looking to him for advice on who to vote for. Nevertheless, Hannity spewed the following pro-Kennedy nonsense (with relevant annotations)…

“If you are a left-wing voter, Kennedy frankly gives you all the nutty Biden, Bernie Sanders, Green New Deal, climate denial, religious cult policies…”
[Hannity apparently thinks that he can be more persuasive by insulting the people he’s trying to persuade]

“…maybe without the corruption and sleaze and chaos, and he definitely knows what day of the week it is. Gotta give him credit for that. Let’s not forget, at just 70 years of age RFK Jr. is more than a decade younger than Joe Biden, and he’s more with it.”
[There is zero evidence any corruption by Biden. And Hannity’s attacks on Biden’s mental acuity are unfounded and tiresome. What’s more, Trump is also about a decade older than Kennedy, with real cognitive defects]

“He also supports affirmative action. He cut ads for the likes of Al Gore. He supported Hillary Clinton. He supported Obama. He supported every Democratic presidential candidate there is. So, for conservatives that maybe like his position on COVID, OK. Now take a look at the rest of the record. We’re only giving you fact-based information here.”
[Here is where Hannity gets to his real point. He isn’t really trying to persuade Biden voters (who aren’t watching his show) to vote for Kennedy. He’s trying to persuade Trump voters (his viewers) not to]

All told, Kennedy would be a much better alternate choice for Trump voters. He would fit right in with them because, for much of his political life, he has been a confirmed conspiracy theory crackpot. His unsavory associations with ultra right-wingers are anathema to Democratic principles. The GOP has adopted him as one of their own, and he is now the MAGA Republican Party’s favorite anti-Democratic stooge.

To anyone with open eyes and functional brain cells, it’s clear that Kennedy is a Republican stalking horse for Biden, if not an outright plant. And if you need any further evidence of Kennedy’s tight relationship with conservatives, check out this article from Mother Jones: “RFK Jr. Fundraisers Tied to J6ers, QAnoners, Christian Nationalists, and Far-Right Extremists.” That isn’t exactly a Democratic resume, is it?

Fox News and the GOP Are Now Dreaming of ‘Weaponizing’ the Justice Department Against Biden

Republicans in the House of Representatives have spent more than a year “investigating” President Biden and his family, searching desperately for any shred of evidence that he committed some unarticulated crime. And despite having the power of the majority in the House, they have come up empty every time. Even worse, their own witnesses have testified that Biden has never done anything remotely illegal or impeachable.

None of that, however, has dissuaded them from their malicious mission to denigrate Biden and his family, and to subject them to vicious personal attacks without any basis in reality. And naturally, Fox News is right beside them to buttress their lies and defamation.

On Wednesday morning, Senior Fox News Trump-Fluffer, Maria Bartiromo, interviewed Rep. James Comer (R-MAGA), chair of the House Oversight Committee. And undeterred by the utter lack of any new or evidence or testimony, they resumed wallowing in the sort of dishonesty that resulted in Fox News having to pay $787 million for lying about election fraud. Bartiromo began with a question that included her own obvious bias…

Bartiromo: What else can you do get some accountability after all of this information that you say you’ve dug up?
Comer: I think the two best options moving forward are obviously criminal referrals and then impeachment. Impeachment is still on the table. There’s still an overwhelming majority of Republicans that agree with me that Joe Biden has committed impeachable offenses. Now our confidence level in the Senate is very low, but at the end of the day the criminal referrals are something that I believe – if we don’t have a Department of Justice today, hopefully in a year we will have a Department of Justice that can hold him accountable. But we’re gonna have the tools in place to hold this family accountable for the criminal wrongdoing that they have committed one way or the other.

Virtually every word of Comer’s reply is untrue. He has no path forward for impeachment, or he wouldn’t be resorting to criminal referrals. And he has no path forward for criminal referrals because their is no evidence of any crime, and the Department of Justice will surely laugh it off. Furthermore, Comer does not have an “overwhelming majority of Republicans” on his side or he would have brought it to the House floor for a vote.

What Comer is actually announcing is that he expects Trump to “weaponize” the Justice Department (something that Trump and the GOP regularly whine about) to prosecute his political opponent if he were to reoccupy the White House. Which would be peculiar since Trump insists that presidents have “total immunity” from any criminal prosecution.

Apparently Fox News and Comer disagree with Trump. And Trump will disagree with himself if the opportunity arises, because he couldn’t care less about being consistent or even rational. The only thing Trump ever cares about is whatever he can bend to his self-interest at the moment.

Of course, none of this comes to pass if Biden is reelected. In which case, Comer’s “two best options” are losers before they even leave the gate. Which is a situation that he should be familiar with by now, considering all the losing he has suffered through so far.

THANKS DON: Trump’s Bashing of Mail-In Voting Has Created an Enduring Advantage for Democrats

For the most part his outrage is expressed in pitiful whining that he is the victim of corrupt and/or biased prosecutors and judges who are engaging in “election interference.”

To be clear, what Trump regards as election interference is merely that he is finally being held accountable for his many crimes – at least 88 felony charges so far. And that’s not counting the defamation and rape, and financial fraud civil lawsuits that he has already lost, and for which he has had to post a quarter of a billion dollars in appeal bonds. Needless to say, that has triggered another Trump tantrum…

In light of Trump’s conviction that “OUR ELECTIONS ARE CORRUPT” (as he posted Tuesday morning), this would be a good time to reexamine Trump’s ideas for ensuring fair and secure elections. For years he has insisted that early voting and mail-in voting are irreparably contaminated by fraud and must be terminated. However, that position is creating some serious problems for the republican Party that he is supposed to be the leader of. NBC News is reporting that…

“National Republicans are attempting a shift to embrace mail-in and early voting to match what’s been a Democratic advantage in recent years.

“But interviews with nearly 20 Republican officials and voters across the country say there is lingering, and sometimes fierce, resistance to the idea — from Trump on down. The schism signals potential peril for the party in the fall if it once again fails to match Democrats’ on-the-ground ballot organization.

“It starts at the top. As the leader of the Republican Party, Trump has used his position to blast, without evidence, mail-in voting as a Trojan horse for widespread voter fraud. In the process, the former president has eroded trust in a method that was once widely embraced by many people in his party, putting Republicans at a disadvantage against Democrats.”

Indeed, Trump’s anti-mail-in voting obsession is making it harder for the GOP to bank votes in advance of an election. That results in lower turnout and higher campaign costs attempting to reach voters on election day and get them out to the polls. As GOP officials try to encourage early voting, Trump’s glassy-eyed cult disciples refuse to engage in a practice that their Dear Leader has instructed them is infected with nasty, democratic corruption.

Among the GOP officials encountering this obstacle is Trump’s daughter-in-lawlessness, Lara Trump, who he recently installed as co-chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC). Lara herself has been busy alienating her fellow Republicans. And she recently told the CPAC crowd that…

“If we want to compete with the Democrats, we cannot wait until Election Day. If we want to compete and win, we must embrace early voting. The days of waiting until Election Day to vote are over.”

Too bad her Sugardaddy-in-Law doesn’t agree with her. As recently as February Trump has been making the rounds of MAGA TV to warn his supporters to refrain from early and mail-voting.

“Mail in voting is totally corrupt. Get that through your head. It has to be. The votes. I mean, it has to be.” […And…] “If you have mail-in voting you automatically have fraud.”

Trump, of course, has good reason (in his warped mind) to oppose mail-in voting. And he isn’t afraid to reveal it to the world. Just to make sure that there wasn’t any confusion, Trump laid out specifically what the problem is with it.

“Any effort to dictate national Mail-In Voting will be a disaster for our Country and for conservatism. There will never be a Republican elected to high office again.”

And there you have it. However, what Trump seems oblivious to is that what he regards as a warning is likely to be viewed with delight by most Americans. The prospect that “There will never be a Republican elected to high office again,” is really more of a reward than a threat. So as for early and mail-in voting – bring it on. And let the Trumpies honor their hero by staying home and not succumbing to the corruption of American democracy.

GO FOR IT! The RNC is Considering Barring NBC From Covering the Republican National Convention

The recent kerfuffle over NBC’s hiring – and firing – of former Republican National Committee (RNC) chair, Ronna McDaniel, is continuing to make waves in the partisan political pool. While McDaniel’s dumping had more to do with her being an unprincipled purveyor of lies and a Trump fake elector co-conspirator, than a voice for conservatives, the right-wing media and MAGA minions were outraged and inconsolable.

Commentators of Fox News chastised NBC as an ideologically slanted network that shut out any views contrary to what Fox regarded as their political biases. Which, coming from the virulently one-sided right-wingers on Fox, was laughably absurd. However, McDaniel’s first scheduled appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” began a stream of blowback from both liberals and conservatives at NBC and MSNBC that was furious and virtually unanimous.

In the wake of that storm, Republicans remain angry and determined to get revenge. Although their methods of achieving that goal are typically ridiculous and not especially well thought out. Politico is reporting that…

“The Republican National Committee is weighing whether to restrict NBC’s access to this summer’s convention, following the network’s decision to drop former RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel as a contributor. Such a move would mark a dramatic escalation in the growing rift between Donald Trump-allies and the TV network.” […]

“‘We are taking a hard look at what this means for NBC’s participation at the convention,’ said Danielle Alvarez, a spokesperson for the RNC and the Trump campaign. ‘Our priority is making sure this is a world class event that allows President Trump to feature his message and vision in a fair way.'”

This is great news. If the RNC, now co-chaired by Trump’s daughter-in-lawlessness, Lara Trump, bars NBC from covering their Trump-a-Thon it would mean that Trump and his MAGA cult disciples would get far less exposure on national television. In fact, the RNC should ban ABC, CBS, and CNN as well. After all, aren’t they all “fake” news?

Fox News could have an exclusive on the Republican National Convention. What better way for them to ensure that the coverage is “fair” in their eyes? Even better, they could offer it as a four day “Orange Man Festival” on their Fox Nation streaming service for $49.95, complete with crackpots in crazy costumes, elaborate booths selling Trump-endorsed bibles and tacky gold sneakers, and a giant golden idol to set ablaze during Trump’s acceptance speech. Just think of how much more money they could earn to pay off Trump’s attorneys.

No should be surprised, however, to learn that the RNC’s idea to bar NBC is just another demonstration of their ignorance and incompetence. That’s because it is likely not within their authority to do so. Politico also reported that…

“…congressional press gallery officials, not the RNC, run the credentialing process for access to the convention hall.”

The only recourse that the RNC might have would be to restrict access to the transportation and hotel rooms it is reserving. It’s fair to assume that NBC could easily overcome those obstacles.

In the end, this just reaffirms that the RNC is a joke that has no idea what they are doing. They don’t even comprehend that they are seeking to punish NBC for firing McDaniel, which is exactly what the RNC itself had done a couple of weeks prior. And that could be why they are badly trailing the Biden campaign’s efforts in fundraising and organizing. Expect more of the same to follow.

Fox News Touts Their Own Poll that Reveals How Delusional Republicans Are About the Economy

Which for President Biden means campaigning vigorously in every swing state and advancing initiatives that benefit all Americans. For Donald Trump it means dining with rich pals at Mar-a-Lago, golfing, and sitting in courtrooms scowling and whining.

The media’s horserace coverage of the campaign is predictably useless as they focus almost entirely on polls, while ignoring the substantive actions taken by the candidates. For instance, Biden is building national infrastructure, creating jobs, and protecting healthcare, including women’s reproductive rights. Trump, on the other hand, is pledging to cut Social Security, promising to release all of the violent January 6th insurrectionists, and doing infomercials for Trump-endorsed bibles.

Trump’s Ministry of Propaganda, Fox News, is playing its staunchly Republican part in this political potboiler. They just released a poll that shows Trump leading Biden 50-45%, within the margin of error. And Fox’s Harris Faulkner thinks that she knows why Trump is enjoying a small lead.

“A new round of Fox News polling shows former president Trump widening his lead over President Biden. One big reason? The economy. Fifty-two percent of voters say they’re worse off financially today than they were in 2020, just before Biden took office.”

Faulkner appears to be oblivious to the fact that four years ago the nation was locked up in their homes, terrified of a deadly virus, losing their jobs as companies closed, and unable to find toilet paper or other household goods at the grocery stores. And The Republican respondents to the poll also seem to be suffering from the same selective amnesia.

Digging a little deeper, the poll found that among Democrats only 28% said they are worse off today than four years ago. However, it also found that 72% of Republicans consider themselves worse off now. That’s a disparity that makes no sense if it were actually tied to real world economic conditions. So the GOP respondents are either having memory lapses (a symptom of Long COVID) or they are lying to the pollsters for political reasons.

Another possibility is that Republicans actually are suffering more severe economic circumstances than Democrats because they live in states run by Republicans, where conditions are worse due to bad management and the insensitivity of GOP leaders to the real problems of their citizens. If that’s the case, then the Fox News poll is helpfully exposing the harm caused by electing Republicans.

It says something unmistakable that 72% of Democrats say they are the same or better off now, but only 27% of Republicans are saying that. Is that a problem caused by the President, or the GOP losers who are doing so poorly during a time of economic growth? Based on the results of this poll, who would you rather be now, a Democrat or a Republican? And based on your answer to that question, who would you rather vote for in November? And if you say “Republican,” you are validating the absurdity of the GOP responses in this poll. And what’s more, you deserve what you get.

Has Fox News Finally Figured it Out? ‘This is Why Conservatives Call the GOP the Stupid Party’

It’s almost as if the GOP is purposefully planning these embarrassing political pratfalls as their strategy for winning back the White House. What else could explain stunts like the one that Marjorie Taylor Greene just pulled by filing a motion to oust House Speaker Mike Johnson after only five months as Speaker? And recall that he got that post because Republicans ousted the previous Speaker, Kevin McCarthy, after only nine months.

The reaction to Green’s motion has been swift and hilarious. Most of her GOP colleagues have condemned her for reinforcing the accurate impression that the Republican Party is populated by idiots and is awash in chaos. But those condemning her are doing their own part in reinforcing that impression. They surely are not exhibiting the unity that Trump recently bragged about…

And if that weren’t bad enough, Fox News isn’t taking any of this very well. It is presenting them with more obstacles to their propaganda mission of propping up Republicans and Trump-fluffing. That was glaringly evident in the monologue of Fox’s Laura Ingraham who whined that…

“I have been in Washington for 30 years. I have never witnessed what I’m witnessing now. A party with a narrow majority in the House of Representatives – everything on the line in the country – but committing a slow suicide. This is why conservatives call the GOP the stupid party.”

First of all, it isn’t conservatives calling the GOP “The Stupid Party” (which would make a great new name for them). It is mainstream Republicans and most Americans. If anything, it’s the conservatives like Greene and the GOP’s Freedom Caucus who are attacking Johnson, advocating extremist policies (i.e. banning abortion, cutting Social Security, etc.), and generally spreading around the stupid.

What’s more, Ingraham is complaining about the GOP being incapable of governing with their “narrow” and shrinking majority. But she is steadfastly against working with Democrats on compromise legislation such as funding the government, securing the border, or providing aid to Ukraine. She and her right-wing confederates have no positive solutions to the nation’s problems. Instead, they are laser focused on impeaching President Biden and maligning his family and Cabinet. It is that agenda that is causing their “slow suicide.”

However, Ingraham is not alone. Her Fox News comrade, and former Trump press secretary, Kayleigh McEnany, joined the pile-on following Green’s Johnson-busting business. On Friday’s episode of Fox’s “Outnumbered” McEnany offered a uniquely perverse point of view…

“So, Marjorie Taylor Greene said ‘I have not talked to president Trump about this.’ Largely president Trump and Speaker Mike Johnson have had a great relationship. Speaker Mike Johnson just put out a piece congratulating him on securing the nomination. I think it’s a pretty big voice you would want to get input from since he’s the titular head of the party at the moment.”

What McEnany is proposing is that Trump be given the right of approval as to who Republicans in the House choose to lead their party. Never mind that the Constitution explicitly divides the government into three independent branches. McEnany would do away with the principle of “separation of powers” so that Trump could reign as a monarch, imposing his will on the legislative and judicial branches, in addition to the executive. Which, by the way, he does not currently occupy.

This is just further evidence that the Stupid Party is more of a cult than a political enterprise. And it’s Ministry of Propaganda (aka Fox News) is fully on board with elevating Dear Leader Trump to messiah status as they pray for him to be their savior. But if the abject foolishness of Republicans is regarded as the party having committed suicide, it is one that will benefit the nation and its citizens, So perhaps a more fitting description for the demise of the GOP is that it’s a mercy killing.

Trump Toady Ronna McDaniel Lands at NBC After Being Ousted From the RNC

The past couple of years have been filled with extraordinary adversities for the Republican Party. After assuming the majority in the House of Representatives, it took them fifteen votes to elect a Speaker (Kevin McCarthy), who they ousted just nine months later. Then it took them three weeks to elect his replacement (Mike Johnson) after failing with three proposed candidates.

Ronna McDaniel on Meet the Press, NBC, MSNBC

Despite the epic nature of those disasters, they were overshadowed by the GOP’s obsession with impeaching President Biden and smearing his family and other Democrats. Every hearing held by the House GOP inevitably wound up embarrassing them as both their witnesses and the facts invariably favored Biden, leaving Republicans to wallow in the swamp of lies they tried to peddle. As a result, they have accomplished nothing of significance in the fourteen months they’ve occupied the majority.

Throughout this catastrophic congressional collapse, the Republican National Committee (RNC) was chaired by Ronna McDaniel. Her tenure there saw the party lose multiple seats in Congress, as well as issue oriented elections around the country. Her “leadership” has been so inept that the party has little to show for it’s efforts. They have raised record low amounts in the past year and have far less available cash on hand than their Democratic opponents. And she made sure that the RNC served as a de facto slush fund for Donald Trump and his lawyers. That condition got even worse after McDaniel was forced to resign and was replaced by Trump’s daughter-in-lawlessness, Lara Trump.

On the basis of that record of incompetence and failure, NBC News has announced that they have hired McDaniel as a political analyst. She is scheduled to appear on NBC News and MSNBC to provide her alleged insight on politics and elections. Which is especially grotesque considering that her “insight” includes embracing Trump’s “Big Lie” that the 2020 election was “rigged and stolen,” and her arguably unlawful efforts to undermine democracy by participating in efforts to recruit fake electors to steal the election from Biden.

On the surface this appears to be an atrocious addition to the NBC roster. And Ron Filipkowski of the MeidasTouch Network has compiled some cringe examples of McDaniel’s ignorant and offensive past media outings. They reveal her to be utterly unqualified for the job that she’s just been hired to do.

But on reflection, her new position might not be as horribly ill-suited as it would seem. In fact, it could be a big advantage for the progressives on the network who will likely spar with her on the air. It could follow the Fox News model of hiring weak-kneed Democrats so that they will lose every argument with Fox’s wingnut pundits. McDaniel would be an excellent foil for the much more intelligent panelists already on NBC and MSNBC.

What’s more, MSNBC has a decent track record of hiring Republicans who turn out to be reliable critics of the GOP and especially Trump. For example Nicolle Wallace, Joe Scarborough, Michael Steele, etc. They aren’t always aligned with Democrats, but they offer a conservative’s criticism of the GOP. And since Trump has been so grotesquely insulting toward McDaniel, who knows how she will respond now that she is no longer dependent on their paycheck. And you have to wonder why she didn’t get picked up by Fox News or Newsmax.

In a worst case scenario, McDaniel is still just one person on the network and is woefully ill-equipped to cause any serious damage. Plus, she gives MSNBC some cover when they are accused of being staffed by only left-wingers. So we’ll see how she presents herself in the coming weeks and months during this election year. Either she begins to take some honest and coherent positions, or she gets steamrolled by her new colleagues. Stay tuned.

UPDATE: According to The Wrap, the Wall Street Journal is reporting that after scorching backlash “MSNBC president Rashida Jones told employees that the liberal-leaning news network has no plans to put new NBC News contributor Ronna McDaniel on the cable outlet.” While that’s good news, it remains troubling that NBC is still planning to put her on the air, and that any news organization would consider such a brazen and potentially criminal liar employable.

Donald Trump, Congress, Mike Johnson

After taking fifteen votes to select their first Speaker, Kevin McCarthy, the Republicans threw him out after only none months. Then they spent three weeks to select their replacement, Mike Johnson, who was their fourth choice. And throughout all of this infighting and chaos, they have managed to score a modern day record for low productivity, essentially accomplishing nothing on behalf of the people they allegedly represent.

Having nothing affirmative to run on, Republicans decided that their only recourse was to stage phony investigations and baseless impeachment inquiries aimed at smearing President Biden, his family, and other Democrats. But even that has ended in abject failure because of one slight flaw in their strategy: They have absolutely zero evidence of any wrongdoing on Biden’s part. In fact, most of their own witnesses have testified that Biden never engaged in anything improper, much less illegal. Consequently, their defamatory scheme is falling apart and will likely be abandoned. As reported on CNN…

“This is not how Republicans thought their 15 month investigation would be going. When they got the majority, investigating the President and his family was a huge focus, But after 15 months pouring over a hundred thousand bank records, interviewing around 40 people, including the President’s son, Hunter, and brother James, their business associates, Department of Justice officials, IRS whistleblowers, Republicans haven’t found any evidence of wrongdoing by the President, and they don’t have the votes to impeach

To make matters worse for Republicans and Trump, this segment from CNN outlining the failure of the Republican smear job was also posted on Trump’s failing social media scam, Truth Social, by the Biden-Harris campaign. Of course, most of the users of that website won’t care much about reporting from CNN, but it still expands the exposure of this news into territory it might not otherwise reach.

However, the story doesn’t stop with CNN. The futility of the GOP’s fake probes has been so obvious that even Fox News had to acknowledge it. In a segment reporting on the current state of the GOP’s inquisition and the prospects for a Biden impeachment, Fox’s Shannon Bream reported that…

“I think it’s increasingly unlikely…I think Republicans are trying to be realistic with the margins that they have. And the Speaker seems to signaling that ‘maybe we’re not gonna push this to the floor for a vote.'”

That’s right. According to Fox News, the GOP doesn’t even have enough votes among their majority to pass the articles of impeachment that they have been yammering about for nearly a year and a half. To be sure, some of the hardcore deadenders will continue to try to push this nonsense. But they will soon tire of beating that deceased old nag. And when they do, the Biden-Harris account on Truth Social will let all of the Trump cultists know what is actually going on.

During a debate with President Jimmy Carter, Reagan asked “Are you better off than you were 4 years ago?” It was really a rather simplistic question that didn’t get to the heart of any specific issue. Ever since, American voters have been asked to make the same comparison. And the 2024 presidential election is no exception. However, it does make a huge difference who is asking this question now. President Biden has presided over a booming economy, unprecedented job creation, and a legislative agenda that includes progress on climate and the environment, healthcare, gun reforms, tax equity, infrastructure, manufacturing, and more. Meanwhile, Donald Trump has been spending his days in court defending himself against dozens of civil and criminal charges, including election interference, inciting an insurrection and rape. And that will continue to dominate his time through November and beyond.

Which makes it difficult for the GOP to ask the “better off” question now. But that hasn’t stopped them from doing so. The latest Republican to venture down this path is the newly installed co-chair (along with Trump’s daughter-in-lawlessness, Lara Trump) of the Republican National Committee (RNC), Michael Whatley. He appeared on Fox News and asked that question. But the answer he provided was a bit of surprise…

“At the end of the day, this comes down to a very simple contrast between President Trump and President Biden. Were you better off four years ago than you are today? The answer for this entire country is no. I mean yes. We are better off today.”

That’s right. Whatley’s first stab at the answer was to say that, no, we were not better off four years ago during the Trump administration. Then when he tried to clean up his gaffe, he made it worse by saying that, yes, we are better off today. It’s hard to argue with him. But it’s par for the course for the new RNC leadership that is doing more to help Democrats than Republicans.

What’s more, in the past few days this question has been asked by everyone in the Trump cult, from Lara Trump to Sean Hannity, who insisted that Democrats “cannot run on ‘are you better off than you were four years ago.'”

Really? For the record, four years ago thousands of Americans were dying every day from a virus that Trump mismanaged through neglect and/or ignorance; the stock market had crashed; jobs were eliminated as companies closed; and you couldn’t buy toilet paper. He also added eight trillion dollars to the deficit, embraced foreign dictators, alienated allies, and appointed ultra-rightist judges that who reversed Roe v Wade and generally ruled in favor of wealthy elitists and corporations. All the while, Trump cast himself in the starring role of a daily reality TV show where he upstaged the experts and lied that “a lot of good things are gonna happen.”

Actually, Trump was right, just a little early. Because, as for whether we are better off than four years ago, well…a lot of good things did happen – after President Biden took over. For instance…

UM, OK! Trump Challenges Biden to Debate ‘Anytime, Anywhere, Anyplace,’ Even If Run By the DNC

In the wake of the Super Tuesday primaries, Trump was pleased to learn that his only remaining Republican opponent for the GOP presidential nomination, Nikki Haley, decided to call it quits and suspended her campaign. Naturally, Trump’s response to that was to lash out Haley and condemn her for daring to challenge his divine sovereignty.

To anyone giving more than a superficial glance at the results of Super Tuesday’s races, they would have noticed the cratering weakness in Trump’s campaign. Particularly when compared to President Biden, who managed to win his primaries without resorting to infantile name-calling, flagrant lies, and desperate smears.

Now that Trump is no longer distracted by that infernal, incompetent woman (who he had appointed as Ambassador to the United Nations), he is free to reset his focus on his arch enemy, Sleepy and/or Crooked, Joe Biden. It’s puzzling how Trump regards Biden as both a senile communist, and a criminal mastermind. In either case, Trump is now challenging whichever Biden resides in his warped mind to a debates ahead of the general election. He wrote on his failing social media scam, Truth Social, that…

“It is important, for the Good of our Country, that Joe Biden and I Debate Issues that are so vital to America, and the American People. Therefore, I am calling for Debates, ANYTIME, ANYWHERE, ANYPLACE! The Debates can be run by the Corrupt DNC, or their Subsidiary, the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD). I look forward to receiving a response. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

The first notable part of Trump’s comment is his consent to meet Biden both “anyplace,” and also “anywhere.” Presumably he would also approve of meeting “wherever,” and “at some location” or “destination.” What’s surprising is that Trump will only agree to meet at “anytime,” but not “whenever.”

Setting aside Trump’s disturbingly repetitious mental malfunctioning, it is generous of him to extend this debate invitation to be conducted by the Democratic National Committee (DNC) or the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD). Biden should immediately take him up on that offer and have the DNC produce the debate. Then sit back and watch Trump spin furiously to renege on the invitation and insist that he never made it. Or he could use his old standby excuse for his frequent flubs: He was joking. He’s such a card.

Trump’s concession to consider participating in a debate run by the CPD is a blatant contradiction of the Republican National Committee’s (RNC) already announced boycott of the organization that has been putting on these debates for thirty years. The RNC made that declaration two years ago:

The RNC issued their rejection of the Commission because it wouldn’t submit to their demands, including determining the composition of its members, dictating the dates of the debates, and intervening in the selection of debate moderators. In other words, they wanted to exert the kind of partisan control that Trump demands before participating in any public event. Trump has demonstrated that he cannot face any encounter that isn’t rigged to his advantage. It’s why he won’t submit to any interviews that aren’t conducted by his pals at Fox News or other similarly servile sycophants.

Never mind that Trump has spent years maligning President Biden as mentally unfit, it is the GOP that appears to be concerned about their own candidate’s ability to face off in an open forum. But if Trump were to comply with his new challenge, he would have to revoke the RNC’s boycott. Which he could surely arrange since he recently announced that he’s putting his daughter-in-lawlessness, Lara Trump, at the helm of the RNC. And she is already getting to work banishing anyone who isn’t unflinchingly loyal to Trump from the party.

So let’s set up these debates with the DNC. And let’s get Rachel Maddow (MSNBC), Jessica Tarlov (Fox News), and Jon Stewart (Comedy Central) to moderate them. Then watch Trump’s head explode. In the meantime, Trump is prepping for his encounter with Biden by outlining what he believes are the “Issues that are so vital to America, and the American People.” And if you weren’t already nauseated enough, don’t watch this video…
