DISGUSTING: Donald Trump Jr Thinks Democrats Getting COVID is God Being Funny

The Trump family has never been particularly respectful of religion or people of faith, other than to exploit them for political support or to enrich themselves. Their likeness to crooked preachers and pseudo-divine swindlers was evident in their transparent insincerity. They only ever brought up religion when they were in pursuit of some personal benefit.

Donald Trump Jr

Donald Trump was notorious for his blasphemous comments claiming to be The Chosen One and for his gross ignorance of the faith he pretended to practice. And apparently the rotten apple hasn’t fallen far from the Tree of Anti-Knowledge.

On Saturday, Donald Trump Jr sought to politicize and capitalize on the the distressing news that three Democratic representatives from Texas had tested positive for the coronavirus. A moral person would never use the misfortune of others to salve their own inherent inferiority. But the Trump spawn did just that in the most despicable way imaginable. This wasn’t an ordinary political insult. He is using humor to malign people who have been infected with a potentially fatal virus. He tweeted “Who says God doesn’t have a sense of humor?”

Really? Is there no bottom to this family’s abhorrent conduct? Mini-Trump’s callous tweet linked to an article on Fox News. That’s the same Fox News that his father has been battering for not backing up his dangerous and preposterous lies about the election being “stolen” from him; that has dismissed COVID-19 as hoax; that has attacked people for wearing masks; that has spread fake fear of vaccines; that has peddled conspiracy theories that vaccines don’t work, but “they” aren’t telling you.

The article on Fox News stated that “Three of the 60 Texas House Democrats tested positive for the virus while staying in Washington, D.C.” So while Trump and Fox sought to make the worst of this news, and to imply hypocrisy on the part of the Democrats, the truth is more complex.

All of the Texas Democrats were vaccinated, so traveling together without masks on a private chartered plane was in compliance with CDC guidelines. The three people who tested positive represent just 5% of the 60 who traveled together from Texas. Those numbers are in line with the estimate that the vaccine is about 95% effective in preventing infection. What’s more, those infected are suffering no symptoms, and avoiding severe illness, hospitalization, and death, is also a known benefit of having been vaccinated.

So what is the Trump puppy’s point? Is he just proud to be laughing at the misfortune of others, a common characteristic of compassionless Republicans? Is he endorsing the use of masks, which still provide protection even for those who are vaccinated, particularly during a surge caused by a new variant? Is he finally condemning the reckless behavior of his father who hosted many super-spreader cult rallies at the peak of the pandemic, and made both the White House and Mar-a-Lago coronavirus hot zones?

Additionally, Does Trump know that Texas is currently one of the worst hit states by increased COVID infections and hospitalizations? Does he think that’s funny too? He must think that the 600,000 dead Americans is downright hysterical.

It is unfortunate that a few Democrats have fallen victim to the coronavirus. And while they were complying with the guidance of health experts, it could be argued that they should have been more cautious. But this incident shouldn’t distract anyone from the reason that they are in Washington in the first place. Republicans in Texas are trying to pass a draconian bill that would suppress voting and give broad, totalitarian power to partisan state officials to overturn the will of the people.

These Democrats are heroes for doing what’s necessary, at great personal sacrifice and within the law, to preserve democracy. They deserve America’s thanks, not the grotesquely inappropriate and blasphemous attempt at “humor” by loathsome cretins like Trump.

In Predictable Perversion of Reality, Fox News Accuses Texas Democrats of ‘Insurrection’

The state of Texas is the latest to pursue a strategy of blatant voter suppression in order to reinforce their right-wing stranglehold on power. To that end their Republican dominated legislature is frantically trying to pass laws that will make it harder for communities of color and low-income (i.e. Democrats) to cast votes.

Fox News, Tucker Carlson, Q Shaman

So naturally, the GOP Ministry of Disinformation (aka Fox News) is doing its part to clamp down on free and fair elections. Fox News Senior White Nationalist, Tucker Carlson, entered into the fray on this issue with his signature faux outrage and perpetually furrowed brow. Not content to deliver his customary hate mongering tirade, Carlson reached deep into his rhetorical repertoire of sarcasm, arrogance, and dishonesty to contrive a bizarre mangling of reality.

Facing the Republican autocrats determined to tilt all future elections in their favor, the Texas House Democrats left the state in order to deny their oppressors a quorum. And in an Olympic-grade feat of projection, Carlson lambasted the Texas Democrats saying that “they committed what amounted to an act of, yes, insurrection.” He elaborated

“Democrats in the state don’t oppose voter fraud. Nor critically do they believe in multi-party politics. So they stopped the entire process cold. Now preventing lawmakers from making laws, shutting down the vote, would not seem like a defense of democracy. In fact, it would appear to be just the opposite. It would appear to be an assault on the very core of democracy, which is the legislature, the people’s house.

“Even diabolical old Vladimir Putin never attempted to do that. But according to Joe Biden, this time it’s necessary. Sometimes you’ve got to end democracy in order to save democracy. That is, if you’re not a racist. ‘Requiring people to prove their identity when they cast a vote,’ said the President, ‘is an unrelenting 21st century Jim Crow assault.’ Really? How so? Biden never explains, but he didn’t need to. His bootlickers on cable television jumped in to do the talking for him.”

Whereupon, Carlson played a few seconds of excerpts from MSNBC and CNN hosts discussing the GOP’s anti-democracy crusade. After which he complained that they didn’t explain why the Texas bill constituted voter suppression. They actually explained it thoroughly, but Carlson’s clips were purposefully chopped so as to remove all of the relevant context. Then, in a another display of projection, he refers to them as “brainless shills,” when that is a far better description of Carlson and his television flock.

Carlson’s twisted take on insurrection is typical of how he abuses language. Fox News has been denying for months that there was any insurrection at all. And now Carlson wants to be taken seriously while suggesting that a peaceful boycott of a legislative session is equivalent to the violent and deadly riots that evidence shows Donald Trump incited in Washington, D.C. on January 6th (and continues to do so). Carlson is equating lawful public servants with criminal seditionists.

Contrary to Carlson’s flagrant fallacies, the Democrats are actually exercising the liberty that democracy guarantees them. If he wants an example of subverting democracy. he can refer to how Mitch McConnell refused to even allow a vote on over 400 bills passed by the House of Representatives. Or he might weigh in on Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s totalitarian threat to arrest the Democrats when they return to the state.

Carlson also felt compelled to malign President Biden, whose speech on voting rights the day before was profoundly moving and informative. Which might explain why Fox News was the only cable news “news” network that refused to air it. Instead of a timely and newsworthy presidential address, Fox chose to cover such crucial stories as Bill Gates’ divorce, a Fox Nation promo, and the “woke” military.

That’s just more proof that Fox is most definitely not a news network. Which makes it the perfect place for a lying propagandist like Tucker Carlson to spew his factless bullpucky for an audience of glassy-eyed cult followers. Where else could he get away with idiocy like his paranoid delusion that the National Security Agency (NSA) is spying on him? Or his baseless accusation that the FBI orchestrated the January 6th insurrection? Or his claim that health authorities know that vaccines don’t work and they aren’t telling you? That’s just how Fox News rolls.

UPDATE: Fox’s Peter Doocy once again found a way to introduce the stupidest perspective possible on this matter:

SRSLY? GOP Senator Vows to Fight Back Against ‘The Left’s War on…’ Meat?

The election of Joe Biden not only sent Donald Trump packing back to Mar-All-Ego, it also launched a months long state of desperation by the Trumpified Republican Party that has been utterly incapable of attaching their manufactured “scandals” to the new President.

Donald Trump, Republican, GOP

Try as they might, the GOP has failed miserably at tarnishing Biden’s image or his broad approval by the public at large. They have floated conspiracies about vaccine outreach programs. They have fear mongered about Critical Race Theory. They have even attacked the romance of the Bidens 44 year-long marriage.

On Saturday Republican Senator Joni Ernst took another swing at muddying up Democrats. She posted a tweet warning her followers about the horror of the alleged “Left’s War on Meat,” an altercation that exists only in her diseased and paranoid mind.

Does Ernst really believe that this is the issue that will galvanize voters and motivate them to turn out for Republican meat saviors? Well, having observed the intellectual state of the GOP lately, she might be on to something.

However, there is simply no truth to the claim that Democrats are waging a war on meat. In fact, they are as enamored of burgers and bacon and McNuggets as any Republican. And there aren’t any bills in Congress to ban or limit meat production or consumption. Although there was a previous attempt by GOP Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-QAnon) to peddle a ludicrous lie about Biden proposing a 90% cut in meat from America’s diet. That, of course, never happened. So where is Ernst’s evidence of a war?

Despite the fact that she is battling a mirage, Ernst has introduced a bill to fight back against her imaginary foes. The TASTEE Act is a bizarre and unnecessary piece of legislative nonsense that states that “An agency, or a contractor of an agency that provides food services to a dining facility of the agency, may not establish a policy that prohibits a dining facility of the agency from serving a particular type of food.”

Really? So an agency cafeteria would be prohibited from establishing their own menus? Would they be forced to serve every type of food, whether anyone wanted to eat it or not? Would this bill take precedence over the cuisine preferences by patrons? And isn’t this the sort of federal government interference in commerce that the GOP usually opposes?

The article that Ernst’s tweet linked to supports her fear of meat discrimination, up to a point. It began by asking “Have you noticed that meat is always the ‘culprit’? Obesity. Environmental degradation. Cancer. Animal abuse. Climate change.” Which is a pretty good question, considering that meat actually is responsible for obesity, environmental degradation, cancer, etc. And it is also, according to Forbes, a prominent contributor to the climate change crisis. Plus, the article also made this rather salient point:

“Michigan State University’s 2021 Food Literacy and Engagement poll found that 41 percent of Americans were likely to buy faux meat that looks and tastes like real meat. That’s up from only 33 percent in 2018.”

So consumers are trending toward meat alternatives in big way. Why is Ernst against free market capitalism? The American people appear to be capable of making their own dietary choices without Ernst or the feds mandating menus by law. But more to the point, Why is Ernst ginning up alleged “atrocities” by Democrats that have no basis in reality. Like the Impossible Burger, it seems that Ernst is taking a big bite out of Impossible Facts – her own family recipe of alternative facts.

At Trump Insurrection Convention GOP Rep Says to Prepare to Sacrifice Your Lives

If anyone thought that the deadly insurrection that took place on January 6th in Washington, D.C., was a transitory affair that concluded when the rioters were driven from the Capitol, think again. That was just the opening salvo in a battle that is still ongoing. And it is a battle that Donald Trump and his Republican confederates intend to exploit for as long as possible, causing as much harm as they can. Never mind how delusional they have become about all of it.

Donald Trump Rally, Sieg Heil

As evidence of the Trumpian right’s determination to wage another civil war, witness the remarks by Rep. Mo Brooks (R-QAnon) at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Dallas, Texas, on Friday. His speech was a call to arms to the CPACers, aimed at whipping up their already seething hostility and hatred for fellow Americans (i.e. Democrats and liberals) that he, and most other CPAC speakers, viciously and falsely malign as Marxists and communists (which they couldn’t define if their lives depended on it). Brooks ranted that…

“Our choice is simple. We can surrender and submit, or we can fight back as our ancestors have done. Think for a moment about our ancestors who fought at Valley Forge. They didn’t fight the British, they fought for survival. Twelve thousand Continental soldiers arrived. Five, six months later two thousand had died.

“Think about what they went through. Burying your brothers, your fathers, your sons. Ten to fifteen a day, every day for six months. That’s the kind of sacrifice that we have to think about. And I ask you: are you willing to fight for America? Are you willing to fight for America? Well, the choice is simple. This is how you fight for America. This is what America needs you to do.”

When the inevitable violence that this sort of rhetoric incites comes about, Brooks can’t pretend that he was speaking metaphorically. He is drawing a straight line from wartime events that resulted in thousands of fatalities, to the specific actions he is imploring his audience to take. It is not unlike his remarks on January 6th prior to the assault on the Capitol when Brooks said that “Today is the day American patriots start taking down names and kicking ass.” This is the guy that Trump has endorsed for the Senate in Alabama.

Make no mistake, violent insurrection is the goal of Trump and the anti-American, QAnon seditionists of the Republican Party. The Justice Department has recognized the potential dangers that are being fueled by this toxic pseudo-populism. And the nation must remain vigilant and determined to insure that democracy prevails over the domestic terrorism and totalitarianism of the today’s Trumpified GOP.

Psaki to GOP: Failure to Provide Accurate Public Health Info…is Literally Killing People

This week President Biden discussed his administration’s outreach program aimed at getting more people vaccinated against the coronavirus. The details were presented by Press Secretary Jen Psaki at the Daily Briefing on Tuesday. And that discussion triggered an ongoing freak out by Republicans and their mouthpieces on Fox News.

Jen Psaki

The frantic freaking is still in effect as Brian Kilmeade of Fox and Friends babbled deliriously about government goons who are “gonna knock on your door. They’re gonna demand that you take it. And they’re gonna give you a third shot.” Needless to say, that crackpot conspiracy exists only the minds of Kilmeade, his Fox confederates, and their dimwitted viewers.

But it doesn’t stop there. Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-QAnon) attended the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Dallas on Friday and told an interviewer that Biden’s door-to-door informational effort is really just a prelude to the wholesale confiscation of every American’s guns and bibles:

If Cawthorn thinks that the “mechanisms” that would be in place to send the feds to every home in the country is an evil plot, I hope nobody tells him about the Census or the Post Office, who have been doing that for decades.

In the interest of providing a definitive rebuttal to this avalanche of asininity, posted below is Jen Psaki’s response (video and transcript) to a question on this subject by ABC News White House correspondent, Karen Travers. Psaki spells out precisely what the outreach program is and isn’t. Not that it will will satisfy the glassy-eyed cult followers of Donald Trump, but at least it can be referenced when needed to rebut the right-wing crazy:

Travers: There’s still pushback about the President’s comments about going door-to-door to encourage vaccination. The South Carolina Governor said today that “enticing, coercing, intimidating, mandating, or pressuring anyone to take the vaccine is bad policy that will deteriorate the public trust and confidence in the state’s efforts.”

And Gov. McMaster said he’s going to prohibit the state health agencies from using the administration’s targeted tactics. Can you respond to the Governor and explain what is being done and what is not being done in this outreach?

Psaki: Sure. Let me first say that the failure to provide accurate public health information, including the efficacy of vaccines and the accessibility of them to people across the country, including So. Carolina, is literally killing people. So maybe they should consider that.

But I would say that what this is, and what this is not, it is not federal employees going door-to-door. This is grassroots volunteers. This is members of the clergy. These are volunteers who believe people across the country, especially in low vaccinated areas, should have accurate information; should have information about where they can get vaccinated; where they can save their own lives and their neighbors’ lives and their family members’ lives.

That’s exactly what this is. It’s something that’s been going on since April. And it’s something where we’ve seen an impact in states where there are lower vaccination rates. So it’s something that we will continue to work with local groups to do. And it’s a disservice to the country, and to the people who may lose their lives, may lose family members, to provide inaccurate disinformation at a moment when we’re still fighting a pandemic.

GOP Attack on Biden’s Job Creation Success Actually Exposes Trump’s COVID Failures

There is a peculiar tendency on the part of Republicans to brag about things that, in reality, demonstrate their own negligence, incompetence, or deliberate malfeasance. For example, there was the time that a Fox News guest once inadvertently affirmed that Donald Trump has Been a lifelong racist. Or the time that Trump inadvertently admitted that he caused hundreds of thousands of COVID deaths.

Joe Biden, Tweet

These are not merely episodes of inattention to the criticism they’re attempting to dispense. They are the result of being so determined to invent some hurtful scandal that they completely lose track of their own false and vicious narrative. And on Saturday, the Republican Party provided another example of this mental defect as they attempted to disparage President Biden’s historic success with job creation. The GOP tweeted that…

Oddly enough, this political assault differs from the usual malarkey emanating from the Republican’s knee-jerk negativity in that it contains a morsel of truth. There are about 9.5 million Americans still unemployed. However, there are a couple of glaring problems with what the GOP is whining about.

First and foremost, they are purposefully ignoring the indisputable good news that 850,000 jobs were created in the latest report for the month of June. And three million jobs have been created in the five months since Biden was inaugurated. That is, as Biden noted, “more jobs than have ever been created in the first five months of any presidency in modern history.” Wages are also reportedly higher.

Where the GOP lost this argument with themselves is their complaint that “At the current pace under Biden, the economy WILL NOT recover all the lost jobs until JUNE 2022!” Conceding for the moment that the pace of job creation won’t increase, Republicans are still admitting to a fact that they don’t seem to recognize. The reason that so many jobs need to be created is that Donald Trump so badly mismanaged the COVID pandemic that millions of jobs were lost that otherwise would not have been.

And that says nothing about the hundreds of thousands of lives lost unnecessarily due to Trump “downplaying” the deadly crisis (which he admitted), his hostility to scientific guidance on social distancing and mask wearing, and his bungling of the vaccine distribution. All of which was aided by Fox News, especially pandemic “truther” Tucker Carlson.

In the end, the only thing that the GOP tweet does is reinforce how dreadfully bad Trump and his Republican confederates failed the American people in their time of need. And when the facts are spelled out, it makes it all the more clear that the Biden administration was there for the people, providing competence and compassion. So perhaps we should thank the GOP for creating an opportunity to clear this all up.

Nah, never mind. After all, they didn’t do it on purpose. And they don’t deserve thanks for their continuing idiocy.

SRSLY? Fox News Whines About Biden Criticizing the GOP and Trump’s ‘Phony Populism’

From its inception twenty-five years ago, Fox News has been a relentlessly biased, anti-Democratic, propaganda purveyor working diligently on behalf of the Republican Party and, more recently, the Trump cult. They abandoned any pretense to either fairness or balance. Their CEO, Lachlan Murdoch, even admitted publicly that he considered the network’s job to be opposing the Biden administration.

Joe Biden, Donald Trump Baby, Fake News

In light of that, it’s remarkably hypocritical for Fox News to complain now that President Biden made a few mildly critical remarks about Republicans and Trump. But, of course, that’s precisely what they did. An article on the Fox website blared the headline: “Biden slams Republicans while on foreign soil in break with political norms.” The article noted that Biden referenced the Republican opposition to a congressional probe of Trump’s January 6th Capitol Hill insurrection. It’s opening paragraphs read…

“Biden blasted Trump’s ‘phony populism’ in response to a reporter’s question about what Biden has said to allies who may be wary of trusting the U.S. post-Trump. Republicans and Democrats have long observed a tradition that ‘politics stops at the water’s edge.'”

For the record, what Biden said was…

“It is a shock and surprise that what’s happened in terms of the consequence of President Trump’s phony populism has happened. It is disappointing that so many of my Republican colleagues in the Senate, who I know know better, have been reluctant to take on, for example, an investigation because they’re worried about being primaried […optimistically adding that…] There’s going to be a coalescing of a lot of Republicans, particularly younger Republicans, who are coming up in the party.”

For Fox News to get heated up over Biden engaging in a bit of political rhetoric while overseas is profoundly hypocritical. First of all, he was responding to a reporter’s question, so it wasn’t his idea to bring it up. But more to the point, Fox News does the very same thing all the time. Just this week Sean Hannity viciously disparaged Biden in rants belittling him as “sippy cup Joe.” Even worse, he praised Vladimir Putin as being superior to Biden saying that “I fear that Vladimir will eat Joe’s lunch.” Then he repeated his frequent insult that “Joe Biden is frail, weak, and a cognitive mess.” And all of this just days before Biden was to meet with Putin in a crucial summit.

Apparently the maxim that “politics end at the water’s edge” only applies to Democrats. On Monday on Fox’s The Five, Jesse Watters said that Biden “seems confused” and that he “doesn’t see him doing well with Putin.” and when Trump was canoodling with Kim Jung Un he tweeted that he “smiled when [Kim] called Swampman Joe Biden a low IQ individual, & worse.”

Trump’s behavior is downright treasonous. Just last week, as Biden was preparing to meet with the Russian dictator, Trump insulted the U.S. and flattered his BFF Putin. He posted a statement that explicitly said that he trusts Putin more than his fellow Americans. But on Fox News Biden is the villain because he expressed some disappointment in the GOP, but also some hope. And Fox gets all huffy when people don’t take them seriously as news network?

DELUSIONAL: Trump Wants China to Pay $10 Trillion for COVID Damages that He Caused

The former reality TV game show host and failed blogger, Donald Trump, is disgorging new, and typically incoherent, press releases. These commentaries are harder to find now that he has been banished from Twitter and other social media for lying, and he has “canceled” his own much ballyhooed “communications platform.”

Donald Trump, Insane, Straight Jacket

In his latest public whining, Trump is making absurd statements about the coronavirus pandemic that he so disastrously mismanaged. He wrote that…

“Now everyone, even the so-called ‘enemy,’ are beginning to say that President Trump was right about the China Virus coming from the Wuhan Lab. The correspondence between Dr. Fauci and China speaks too loudly for anyone to ignore. China should pay Ten Trillion Dollars to America, and the World, for the death and destruction they have caused!”

Let’s break that down, shall we?

First of all…
It is patently false that “everyone” is saying that “Trump was right.” The only people saying that with a straight face are the same cult disciples who have been worshiping at the alter of Trump all along. He was not, is not, and will likely never be, right about the coronavirus or anything else.

Secondly…
Trump did not say that the COVID -19 came from “the Wuhan lab.” He often said that it came from Wuhan, but his most frequent comments dismissed it as nothing more than a common flu that would soon disappear by magic. In fact, Trump was effusively praising China and its president Xi Jinping. For instance…

China has been working very hard to contain the Coronavirus. The United States greatly appreciates their efforts and transparency. It will all work out well. In particular, on behalf of the American People, I want to thank President Xi!

…and…

[President Xi] will be successful, especially as the weather starts to warm & the virus hopefully becomes weaker, and then gone. Great discipline is taking place in China, as President Xi strongly leads what will be a very successful operation. We are working closely with China to help!”

As late as February 29, 2020, Trump was still impressed that “China seems to be making tremendous progress. Their numbers are way down.” And in his own remarks, Trump relentlessly downplayed the known dangers of the virus:

  • “We have it very much under control in this country.”
  • “It’s going to be just fine.”
  • “It’s one person coming in from China.”
  • “We’re doing a great job with it.”
  • “It’s going to have a very good ending for us.”
  • “We’re in great shape.”
  • “We have 12 cases – 11 cases, and many of them are in good shape now.”
  • “Just stay calm. It will go away.”
  • “You have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero.”
  • “It’s going to disappear. One day it’s like a miracle — it will disappear.”

Most of those remarks were made when Trump already knew they were lies. He revealed in tape recorded comments to Bob Woodward – for his book RAGE! – that he knew just how dangerous the virus was, saying that…

“You just breathe the air and that’s how it’s passed. And so that’s a very tricky one. That’s a very delicate one. It’s also more deadly than even your strenuous flus. This is deadly stuff. […] I wanted to always play it down. I still like playing it down.”

Thirdly…
There is nothing controversial in the correspondence recently released between Dr. Fauci and China. It is simply being exploited by dishonest purveyors of right-wing propaganda who are trying to manufacture controversy where none exists.

Finally…
Trump’s demand that “China should pay Ten Trillion Dollars to America” is just the latest manifestation of his utter impotence, since he has no authority to issue such commands. Maybe he could get Mexico to pay for it.

More to the point, even if the virus had escaped from a Chinese lab, the responsibility for the “death and destruction” in America falls to Trump, his Republican Party, and Fox News. It was Trump’s negligence, incompetence, and deliberate malfeasance that was most responsible for the spread of the Pandemic in the U.S.

Trump was aided by a glassy-eyed Republican Party that devoured everything their Dear Leader excreted. And Fox News played its role as Trump’s Ministry of Disinformation. They obediently regurgitated Trump’s dismissal of the pandemic and opposed any common sense measures to mitigate it.

Other than that, Trump’s statement was still pitifully stupid and self-serving. As usual.

Fox News ‘Liberal’ Asks GOP Crybabies, ‘What Are the Republicans So Afraid of?’

There was some speculation that Fox News might change after Donald Trump was evicted by America’s voters from the White House. That speculation proved to be true. Fox News has changed. For the worse. It has veered farther to the right – and Trumpian extremism – than ever. Fox’s CEO, Lachlan Murdoch, even said publicly that it is the network’s “job” to oppose Biden.

Fox News, Juan Williams

In the past few months Fox News elevated drooling Trump sycophants like Dan Bongino and Greg Gutfeld. Tucker Carlson’s exposure was increased with new streaming programs. They added Lara Trump as a contributor and Kayleigh McEnany, Trump’s former press secretary, as a co-host on Outnumbered.

Meanwhile, Fox News has ideologically cleansed panel shows like Outnumbered of all leftish voices. They have parted ways with the few pundits who would occasionally challenge Trump and his suck-ups on the network. Politics editor, Chris Stirewalt, was fired. The former Democratic Party chair, Donna Brazile, is gone. Fox and Friends co-host Jedidiah Bila was sacked. And Juan Williams is now an ex-co-host of The Five.

Speaking of Williams, he just published an essay on The Hill posing the question “What are the Republicans so afraid of?” It’s interesting that Williams, who isn’t a particularly aggressive liberal, had to turn to a non-Fox website to express his views. Perhaps it’s because the essay began by noting the division that Trump – and Fox News – have been so instrumental in fomenting:

“Sixty-four percent of voters now see political divisions as a major threat to the ‘stability’ of the nation, according to a Fox News poll released last week. It is the highest-ranked major threat to the nation in the poll.

“The depth of the division can also be seen in recent Ipsos/Reuters polling that shows most Republicans continue to believe former President Trump is the ‘true president,’ and 56 percent [of Republicans] believe the 2020 election was stolen from him.”

Williams observed that the recent Senate vote to create a commission to study the January 6th insurrection failed due to Republicans being too afraid to examine what led to the Capitol Hill riots. Their fear was that a truly independent investigation would reveal that they themselves were responsible to a significant extent. Williams also wrote that Republican fear is centered on the racist “white re[placement” conspiracy theory that has become a major part of Tucker Carlson’s program.

Another key part of Williams’ essay was that Trump’s “Big Lie” that the election was stolen from him was “fed daily with conspiracy talk and misinformation by social media, talk radio and cable opinion shows.” Of course, the “cable opinion shows” he meant, without naming, were those by Carlson, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, the “Curvy Couch” potatoes of Fox and Friends, and pretty much the rest of their schedule.

It’s the “Big Lie” that has been the primary motivation for the violence by Trump’s insurrectionist brigades. It has even led to a call for a military coup by Trump’s former National Security Advisor, Mike Flynn. These traitors are openly advocating a violent overthrow of the United States government to install Trump as a dictator. And while Williams is right to ask what Republicans are afraid of, he might also want to ask: Why aren’t Democrats – and all patriotic Americans – more afraid?

The Party of Trump and QAnon: Republicans Worship an Impotent Loser

On January 6, 2021, the United States was attacked by the insurrectionist brigades of the former reality TV game show host who was decisively defeated for reelection as president six months ago. But the insurrection led by Donald Trump did not end on that day. In defiance of reality, Trump is continuing to wage war against American democracy. He has still never conceded defeat. To the contrary, he stubbornly insists – without a shred of evidence – that the election was stolen from him and that he is the “legitimate” president/dictator.

Donald Trump, QAnon, Dictator

The depth of Trump’s delusion has created a black hole at the center of the American galaxy. The support he commands from his cowardly Republican confederates in Congress is near total. And the GOP voter base is blindly adhering to the fables told by the Trumpists.

Trump is savoring the cult-like adulation of his devotees. He giddily posted the results of an Ipsos/Reuters poll on his mostly ignored blog that showed 53% of Republicans “believe Donald Trump is the true President.” A new poll by Quinnipiac augments that data with a survey that found that 66% of Republicans would like to see Trump run for president in 2024. Never mind that the same poll poll reported that “Overall, two-thirds of Americans (66 – 30 percent) say they do not want to see him run.” And set aside that the poll also had Trump floundering at 37% favorable.

Even more relevant is the mathematical reality of these poll results. Since the Republican Party currently represents about 29% of the electorate, 53% of that means that Trump’s support among the population at large is a measly 15% at best. That’s hardly enough to win a national election. And considering that Trump already lost the popular vote twice, his prospects for the future appear dim.

However, Trump’s dismal political future doesn’t mean that he can’t continue to have a destructive impact on society. His disciples are a a determined and hostile lot. A survey by PRRI asked Republicans whether they agree with the QAnon doctrine that “the government, media, and financial worlds in the U.S. are controlled by a group of Satan-worshipping pedophiles who run a global child sex trafficking operation.” Nearly a quarter of them (23%) said that they do. And 28% said that they also believe that “true American patriots may have to resort to violence in order to save our country.”

This does not bode well for the stability of American democracy. Despite these treasonous cretins being a distinct minority, they are also fanatical and armed. And their obedience to QAnon and Trump is being intensified by right-wing media. The Quinnipiac poll found that 40% of Newsmax and One America News Network (OANN) viewers, and 18% Fox News viewers, are among the QAnon believers.

Just imagine what will happen if Trump decides to run again in 2024. With his prospects of victory almost nil, the stage will be set for a reprise of the January 6th Capitol riots. Trump would surely repeat his baseless claims that that election was stolen from him too. How far would his faithful go to crush the democratic will of the people then?

The only answer to that question is that we must never find out. Trump and his comrades must be held accountable for their crimes and punished accordingly long before the 2024 election cycle begins. If the Justice Department and the state attorneys general do their jobs, we’ll be able to avoid another wingnut uprising. If not, we’ll be in big trouble.
