HUH? Mike Pence Thanks Tucker Carlson for ‘Bringing Facts to the American People’ About Jan 6th

As the 2024 Republican primary season unfolds, the roster of candidates reflects just how radically the party has devolved into a bastion of lies, conspiracy theories, and the autocratic aspirations of Donald Trump and his heroes, such as Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un.

Donald Trump, Mike Pence, Hanging

The polls show that there hasn’t been much movement in the race in weeks. Trump remains the messiah of the MAGA GOP, with Ron DeSantis trailing by 20 or 30 points or more, and everyone else in single digits. Consequently, Trump has directed his wrath at DeSantis and allowed the rest of the pack to flounder. He knows that the more non-Trump contestants in the race, the more that support for DeSantis is diluted.

RELATED: GOP Presidential Poll Reveals Why Ron DeSantis is the Only 2024 Opponent that Trump is Attacking

Among the Republican hopeless is Trump’s own former vice-president, Mike Pence. He is the only candidate that Trump sought to have executed by the hostile mob that tried to stage a coup on January 6th. And while Pence occasionally makes a meager effort to call out Trump for that attempted assassination, he still often behaves as if nothing untoward happened that day.

That was the situation on Friday when Pence sat down with the disgraced former Fox News propagandist, Tucker Carlson. It was one of a series of interviews that Carlson is holding with most of the Republican candidates. In a gesture of predictable cowardice, Trump has declined to participate. Just as he is expected to chicken out of the August GOP debate sponsored by Fox News.

During the Pence interview, Carlson brought up the January 6th insurrection, asking Pence what he thought the hostile unrest was all about…

Carlson: Why do you think the people who stormed the Capitol on January 6th were mad? And why haven’t we talked about that?
Pence: First off I would tell you that I think the January 6th committee was a partisan committee in the Congress of the United States. And it failed its historic mission of bringing the facts forward. And I know your commitment to bringing all the facts to the American people, Tucker. And I know we’re grateful for that.

WHUT? Never mind that Pence utterly ignored the question, despite the answer being so simple (The rioters were mad that their cult leader lost, and that has been talked about frequently). And set aside the fact the the January 6th Committee was a thorough, bipartisan probe of the facts surrounding the insurrection and Trump’s role in inciting it.

More to the point, Pence’s up-sucking to Carlson is a pitiful display of his desperation. The bizarre assertion that Carlson had a “commitment to bringing all the facts to the American people” is belied by the evidence of his flagrant lying about the matter for the past two years.

It was Carlson who repeatedly disseminated disinformation about January 6th that characterized the insurrection as either a “false flag” operation orchestrated by the FBI, or as nothing more than ordinary tourists on a sightseeing trip at the Capitol. He got GOP House Squeaker Kevin McCarthy to give him sole access to 40,000 hours of surveillance videos, of which he aired only a few minutes, and only parts where literally nothing was happening. He left out all of the assaults on police officers, the breaking through doors and windows, the vandalizing of property, and the terrorizing of congressional representatives and staff.

And Fox News Fabulist Tucker Carlson Launches a Laughably Lame Defense of His January 6th Lies

Carlson and Fox News are currently being sued for defamation by Ray Epps, a Trump supporter who attended the January 6th riot, who Carlson falsely accused of being an undercover FBI agent tasked with instigating violence.

Following his outpouring of gratitude for Carlson, Pence complained that the January 6th Committee spent too much time investigating Donald Trump and his incitement of the violent insurrection, rather than the the failures of law enforcement to predict and respond to the riots. Of course, it was Trump and his administration that was responsible for the policing of the Capitol. Pence has apparently forgotten his prior acknowledgement of Trump’s culpability when he said that…

“President Trump was wrong. I had no right to overturn the election, and his reckless words endangered my family and everyone at the Capitol that day. And I know that history will hold Donald Trump accountable for his actions.”

Pence has also previously condemned what took place on January 6th, and therefore, Carlson’s dishonest narratives about it. Speaking at a Gridiron Club dinner in Washington, Pence said that…

“January 6th was a tragic day. I was there at the Capitol, and let me assure you it was not, as some would have us believe, a matter of tourists peacefully enjoying our Capitol. Tourists don’t injure 140 police officers by sightseeing. Tourists don’t break down doors to get to the Speaker of the House. Or voice threats against public officials. […] Make no mistake about it — what happened that day was a disgrace and it mocks decency to portray it in any other way.”

Yet somehow, Pence is “grateful” to Carlson for “bringing the facts to the American people”? No one has lied more about January 6th than Tucker Carlson.

If Pence thinks that this is the sort of campaign message that will thrust him to the front of the pack, he must be so severely traumatized by his near death experience on January 6th – and his long proximity to Donald Trump – that he has lost any connection to reality. But then, that’s a common problem with the current batch of GOP presidential candidates, and moreover, today’s Trumpian Republican Party.

GOP INQUISITION: Marjorie Taylor Greene Wants 500 ‘Potential Suspects’ Drug Tested for Cocaine

In what Republicans and Fox News have deemed to be the “Crime of the Century,” a small amount of cocaine was found in a heavily trafficked area of the White House. Naturally, the knee-jerk response from the right has been to accuse – without proof – President Biden and/or his family, of being responsible for defiling the otherwise pure presidential sanctum.

Marjorie Taylor Greene, Vladimir Putin

This is typical of the GOP’s administration of “justice.” They engage in tedious and interminable shouting fits that malign the President and Democrats, despite not having a smidgen of evidence to support their wild accusations. It’s what the Republicans are presently doing in the House of Representatives by staging frequent and pointless hearings intended only to spread derogatory disinformation about their political foes.

RELATED: GOP Holds Another Hearing to Berate the FBI, Ends Up Exposing Trump’s ‘Cesspool of Corruption’

On Thursday the Secret Service completed their investigation of the cocaine matter and concluded that there wasn’t the necessary evidence to identify the culprit who brought the substance into the White House…

“‘No fingerprints or DNA turned up on the baggie of cocaine found in a lobby at the White House last week.’ The Secret Service said: ‘Without physical evidence, the investigation will not be able to single out a person of interest from the hundreds of individuals who passed through the vestibule where the cocaine was discovered.'”

Within minutes, the Republican Shadow Speaker of the House, Marjorie Taylor Greene, was giving a press conference to cast aspersions on the President, the Secret Service, and the FBI. She told the gathered reporters that…

“[The Secret Service] were able to narrow down a list of approximately 500 people that had left a small bag of cocaine. […] It makes no sense to me whatsoever why they would not follow through on one simple task, and that is to drug test a list of 500 people that they have that are potential suspects for this. […] This was a failure of this investigation.”

This is mind-bogglingly dumb on so many levels. First of all, it is not an investigatory achievement to “narrow down” a list of prospective suspects to a mere 500. That would be an unwieldy batch of persons for any police department to probe. What’s more, it wasn’t narrowed down. It was actually the entire accounting of everyone who had gone in and out of the area over the days in question.

Nevertheless, Greene’s proposal to drug test every one of them is absurd. Setting aside that it could be a violation of their 4th and 5th Amendment rights, it wouldn’t prove anything. Even it there were positive results for cocaine, it wouldn’t mean that they brought any into the White House. They might have been exposed at a party the day before. And there are some prescription meds that can produce false positives.

However, the most troubling aspect of Greene’s proposal is that it represents a horrifying expansion of government tyranny over presumed innocent people. Forcing 500 people who have done nothing wrong to undergo involuntary drug testing is the sort of oppressive overreach that Republicans like to pretend they are against. It would be the sort of heavy-handed behavior of an autocratic regime that denies civil rights.

Greene is also profoundly hypocritical. She is among the Republicans who regarded the Department of Justice search of Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort/residence as an affront to his civil liberties, despite their having obtained a search warrant after demonstrating to a judge that there were legal grounds for the search. And they subsequently found the classified documents they were looking for, after Trump had lied about having them.

Speaking of Trump, he has also been making preposterous allegations about the cocaine belonging to President Biden and/or his son, Hunter. He told a MAGA video blogger that…

“In my opinion it’s Hunter and probably Joe, because, you know, you watch Joe at the beginning of his speech and he’s got a little life. Not much, but he’s got a little life. By the end of the speech he’s a disaster. He can’t even find his way off the stage. So there’s something going on there.”

Trump, an alleged Adderall abuser, may know something about juicing his public performances. However, his description of Biden’s speeches is wholly disconnected from reality. And his perverse conception of justice was reflected this week when he advocated the death penalty for Hunter Biden for not paying his taxes. These are the sort of people who are now yammering about how to respond to the discovery of a small amount of cocaine. If Biden ran his Justice Department by Trump and Greene’s standards, Trump would have been in shackles in Gitmo a long time ago.

GOP Holds Another Hearing to Berate the FBI, Ends Up Exposing Trump’s ‘Cesspool of Corruption’

FBI director Christopher Wray appeared before the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday to respond to Republican yowling about the agency’s investigations into Donald Trump and his ever growing rap sheet of crimes. The former occupier of the White House has already been indicted on over 70 counts ranging from obstruction of justice to mishandling classified documents.

Jim Jordan, Biden's Emails

The Judiciary Committee, chaired by ultra MAGA minion, Jim Jordan, is seeking to slander the FBI for allegedly “weaponizing” the Department of Justice and persecuting poor beleaguered Dear Leader Trump. This is an objective that Jordan and the GOP have been attempting to pursue, with decidedly disastrous results, ever since assuming their bare majority in the House.

SEE THIS: New GOP Subcommittee Chair Openly Admits His Only Purpose is to ‘Make Life Hell’ for Democrats

The hearing on Wednesday provided Democrats an opportunity to counter the dishonest Republican narrative that federal law enforcement was conspiring to destroy Trump and his anti-American MAGA movement. Among the Democratic representatives who availed themselves of this opportunity was California Rep. Ted Lieu. His well composed litany of the cretinous nature of the Trump administration was both informative and chilling. And he made his points simply by asking Wray a series of simple questions…

  • Trump adviser Roger Stone was convicted in a federal court, correct?
  • Trump donor Elliott Broidy was convicted in a federal court, correct?
  • Trump’s former campaign chairman Paul Manafort was convicted in federal court, correct?
  • Trump’s former deputy campaign manager Rick Gates was convicted in federal court, correct?
  • Trump’s campaign foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos was convicted in federal court, correct?

Lieu actually left out a few of Trump’s most conspicuous criminal cohorts, including Rudy Giuliani, Jeff Clark, Peter Navarro, Steve Bannon, Tom Barrack, Michael Flynn, and Allen Weisselberg. However, he delivered a succinct summary that put the criminality of Trump’s tenure in perspective…

“What these facts show is that we don’t have a two-tier system of justice. We have one Department of Justice that goes after criminals regardless of party ideology. All of these folks were convicted under the administrations of three separate Republican attorneys general (Jeff Sessions, Matt Whitaker, and Bill Barr). It is not the fault of the FBI that Donald Trump surrounded himself with criminals. Donald Trump brought that on himself. Thank you to the FBI for exposing the cesspool of corruption of these Trump associates.”

And therein lies the root of the problem that Republicans have with law enforcement. Even when their own officials – including Wray himself, a Trump appointee – administer justice fairly and without political bias, Republicans will revolt if their own members are found to be crooks. That’s because they care more about their grip on power than about their country.

The undisputed champion of this malicious mauling of American justice is, of course, Trump himself. From his earliest campaign chants of “lock her up” directed at Hillary Clinton who had never been convicted or even charged with a crime, to his recent lament that Hunter Biden wasn’t executed for using drugs and not paying his taxes. Trump complained on his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, that U.S. Attorney David Weiss (another Trump appointee) was a “coward” because he let Hunter off with “a traffic ticket instead of a death sentence.” But to the GOP it is Democrats who are “weaponizing” justice. And they will continue to hold these sham hearings even though they inevitably just humiliate themselves.

WHUT? Trump Asks to Delay His Classified Docs Trial Because of All His Other Criminal Trials

Poor Donald Trump. He is under such a crushing burden these days, simply because of his affinity for stealing classified documents, storing them at his Palm Beach home/hotel, and then lying to the FBI and other authorities about having them. Now he is facing the legal consequences of his misconduct and can’t seem to fit it into his schedule.

Donald Trump

As Trump’s legal peril intensifies, he is becoming ever more unhinged and racked with rancor and unbridled hostility. He’s lashing out at his perceived persecutors, especially the special counsel, Jack Smith, who Trump calls a “deranged” “thug” bent on destroying his aspirations to become America’s first dictator.

RELATED: Trump Says ‘Deranged’ Special Counsel Staged Photo of Trump with Suspected Obama Stalker

On Monday evening, at the very last moment, Trump finally responded to the special counsel’s motion to move his trial date to December 11. That’s four months later than the judge originally scheduled it. But that still isn’t far off enough for Trump. In response, Trump didn’t actually suggest an alternate date. He asked that no date whatsoever be chosen. He wants the trial delayed indefinitely. But if a date is set, it should be after the 2024 election, a year and a half away. And his reasons are downright laughable. Trump’s filing says that he can’t possibly defend himself properly in December because…

  • He’s too busy with other criminal and civil trials.
  • He’s too busy running for president.
  • He says that “There is no ongoing threat to national security interests nor any concern regarding continued criminal activity.”
  • He says that he can’t seat an impartial jury in the midst of a presidential election.

What a brilliant legal maneuver. Trump is using the fact that he’s such a prolific criminal that his logjam of trials have to be spaced out for many months to avoid colliding with one another. If this works it might inspire other defendants to give it shot. For instance, a murder could kill four or five more people so that his pending trials would have to be postponed for months or years.

Additionally, Trump thinks his candidacy for the Republican nomination for president suffices as a delaying tactic. This strategy might help the aforementioned murderer as well. He would just need file papers to join the GOP campaign and – voila – his trial date is shelved indefinitely. And as an added bonus, he’d fit right in with the Republican candidate roster.

What’s more, Trump is claiming that his trial can be waived off because he allegedly doesn’t represent any “ongoing threat to national security.” Never mind that he may still have more classified documents at his other resorts and villas, and his daily tirades that smear prosecutors, judges, and political foes, put all of their lives in jeopardy. His very campaign is itself a threat…

SEE THIS: Trump Post Urges His Cult Followers to Take Up Arms and ‘Physically Fight’ for the Presidency

Finally, Trump is pretending to be concerned that it would be impossible to find impartial jurors while an election is in progress. First of all, what is known as the “60-day rule” is a Justice Department policy (not a law) that seeks to avoid any legal proceedings within 60 days of an election so as not to influence the voting. Trump is absurdly stretching that out to a year and a half.

More to the point, there is no logical reason why it would it be any more difficult to seat a jury now than it would be in 2025. What Trump is really interested in is the prospect that he, or another Republican, would be elected in 2024, and his case would be dropped or he would be pardoned. In other words, he’s hoping for sanctuary, not acquittal. He knows that he’s guilty and there’s mountains of evidence to prove it. He also knows that most Americans – including 25% of Republicans – believe that he’s guilty.

SEE ALSO: Scared and Desperate Trump Begs Congress to Save Him From the Meanies Prosecuting His Crimes

Under the circumstances, there are no rational reasons to delay Trump’s trial. And clearly, Trump and his attorneys have pitifully failed to articulate any. To his advantage, the judge assigned to the case, Aileen Cannon, is a Trump flunky who could just put off the trial because she feels like it. But anyone paying attention to the law would seek a speedy trial. In fact, anyone paying attention to Trump would argue that he shouldn’t even have the right to run. He said so explicitly…

Fox News Senior Trump-Fluffer, Maria Bartiromo, Grills DeSantis on a Flurry of Fake Scandals

The Republican presidential primary is fulfilling its promise to be this season’s most stupendous circus of silliness and psychopathy. It features a cast of Lilliputian candidates who are fighting to see who can be the most solicitous toward the GOP’s Dear Leader, Donald Trump.

Fox News, Maria Bartiromo

The only contender so far to have slithered out of single digits, other than Trump, is Florida’s aspiring authoritarian, Ron DeSantis, who is managing to lose to both Trump and Mickey Mouse. The DeSantis strategy appears to be focused on capturing the segment of the Republican electorate that thinks that Trump isn’t fascist enough and has too much charisma.

RELATED: DeSantis Issues a Fascist Fatwa on Fox News to ‘Destroy Leftism’ – Meaning Millions of Americans

The DeSantis obsession with what he calls the “woke mind virus” has compelled him to reference that wholly manufactured disease in at least every other sentence. And on Sunday morning he took that anti-woke road show to Fox News, where he spends more time than he does in Tallahassee.

However, on this occasion, DeSantis came face to face with Fox’s most Trump-loving host, Maria Bartiromo. And she greeted him with something that was more of a confrontation than an interview. Each utterance of her repeated inquiries as to what DeSantis would do was like a challenge that assumed he wouldn’t do anything significant (video below).

“I think one of the reasons that Donald Trump is in the lead is because of the corruption and the unfairness of our justice system. I want to know what you’re going to do. What are you going to do about the fact that the FBI worked with Twitter to censor information, amplify lies and suppress truth? What are you going to do about this influence peddling that we see is in plain sight that the Biden family has been doing allegedly, for now, more than a decade? What can you do to straighten things out now that Americans are sick and tired of the corruption they see in plain sight?”

To support her undisguised bias in favor of Trump, Bartiromo’s question enumerated a series of fictional scandals. The first of which was her belief that the American justice system is corrupt and unfair simply because it has recently endeavored to hold Trump accountable for his multitude of crimes. That’s straight out of Trump’s hyperbolic and hostile “Playbook of Pathetic and Vicious Victimhood.”

SEE THIS: Trump Says ‘Deranged’ Special Counsel Staged Photo of Trump with Suspected Obama Stalker

Bartiromo continued with her inquisition asserting such fallacies as “the FBI worked with Twitter to censor information.” That was proved to be a flagrant lie promoted by Elon Musk and Fox News. Then she alleged that there was “influence peddling” by the Biden family “that we see is in plain sight.” Which was just another evidence-free conspiracy theory advanced by Republicans in Congress. And finally, Bartiromo whined that the American people are “sick and tired of the corruption” that she attributes to the Biden administration. The nation is indeed sick and tired of corruption, but most Americans believe that it is Trump who is responsible for it.

SEE ALSO: TRUTH THIS: More Americans – Including 25% of Republicans – Believe that Trump is Guilty

For his part, DeSantis responded to Bartiromo by dodging every one of her questions. He never said what he would actually do about any the phony issues she raised. He merely agreed with her allegations and muttered vaguely that he would fix whatever the heck she thought was wrong.

“”We will end the weaponization of government, […] And I look back at like the Hunter Biden censorship, which was a huge, huge deal to happen in the 2020 election. And yet, you know, those were Donald Trump’s own agencies that were colluding with big tech.”

What wasn’t said was that everything that DeSantis and Bartiromo are complaining about took place during the Trump administration by people that he appointed. So in effect, they are alleging that Trump colluded against himself. It’s a bold and bizarre strategy. But it’s the only one they have. And while it might work on Trump’s cult disciples, it will further alienate the rest of the electorate. So expect more of the same as the primary proceeds. And enjoy the battle between DeSantis and Trump as they try to out-crazy each other.

Trump Says ‘Deranged’ Special Counsel Staged Photo of Trump with Suspected Obama Stalker

It’s a day that ends with “Y” so, therefore, it’s a day in which Donald Trump posts a loony message to his cult followers on his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social. And as his legal peril increases, the looniness and seething desperation of his posts grow exponentially.

Donald Trump, Insane, Straight Jacket

On Saturday morning Trump ventured into the true crime story of one of his cult disciples, Taylor Taranto, who was arrested this week with a cache of weapons near the home of former President Barack Obama. Taranto was also wanted for his participation in the January 6th insurrection in Washington, D.C., and authorities alleged that he “had threatened to blow up [his van] at a government facility.” In other words, he was a typically deplorable Trump devotee.

RELATED: Trump Post Urges His Cult Followers to Take Up Arms and ‘Physically Fight’ for the Presidency

In his Pravda Social post, Trump lashed out at special counsel Jack Smith in his tediously repetitive fashion, referring to Smith as “deranged,” a condition that Trump should be familiar with. He was triggered by a photo of Taranto with his arm around a cardboard cutout of Trump.

Apparently Trump wasn’t pleased with the media reporting factually that Taranto was a longtime Trump supporter who was prone to violence. It wasn’t that Trump was bothered by the association. He was bothered that it was made public. Consequently, he raged that…

“This picture is a ‘cardboard cutout’ of me put out by the Fake News Media and probably supplied to them by Deranged Jack Smith and the Department of Injustice for purposes of Election Interference. Weaponization of ‘Justice’ is the new way that the Radical Left Democrat Lunatics will CHEAT in the 2024 Presidential Election. WE WILL STOP THEM!!!”

Notice that nothing in Trump’s comment is critical of what Taranto did to get arrested. Nor does he condemn the violence. He’s cool with all of that. However, he brazenly lies about the source of the photo as being “supplied to [the media] by Deranged Jack Smith and the Department of Injustice for purposes of Election Interference.” In reality, the photo comes from a Washington state Republican dinner in 2018, while he was still occupying the White House, and long before the special counsel probe.

Trump’s aversion to the truth is well established. And his obsessive hostility toward his perceived enemies is beyond psychotic. So naturally, he views Smith with contempt. Earlier the same day Trump posted that…

“Deranged Jack Smith, the wacko prosecutor that Corrupt Joe Biden and his Thugs stuck on me during the political campaign in which Biden is losing ‘BIG’ (an absolute No, No!), just announced that he has spent over 9 million dollars, already, on this continuing Witch Hunt. Biden’s Special Prosecutor, by comparison, has spent almost nothing. Prosecutorial Misconduct for purposes of Election Interference!”

It seems that Trump forgot that his infantile nickname prefix for Biden is “Crooked,” not “Corrupt.” But at least he is consistently maligning Smith as “Deranged,” despite how remarkably intelligent and focused he appears by all accounts.

Trump also claims that “Biden and his Thugs” “stuck” Smith on him. Although Biden had nothing to do with it. And Trump’s complaint that the “Witch Hunt” cost $9 million is evidence of Smith’s effectiveness. He’s already produced more than 60 felony counts in his indictments. John Durham, the special counsel appointed by Trump’s Attorney General, Bill Barr, spent about the same amount. But in nearly four years he only charged three people, one of whom pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor, and the other two were found not guilty at trial.

Finally, while Trump would like to believe that he can’t be prosecuted with an election coming up, that policy refers to elections that are within 60 days, not a year and a half. So if Smith continues to proceed expeditiously, and Trump fails to obstruct with delays, his trial can go forward.

In the meantime, expect Trump to continue to dispense lies, hatred, and incitations to further violence. Hopefully he will have the same measure of failure with that that he does with everything else that he attempts.

TRUTH THIS: More Americans – Including 25% of Republicans – Believe that Trump is Guilty

One of Donald Trump’s favorite pastimes is posting polls on his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social. He seems to think that it’s interesting to his cult followers that he is running ahead of Florida’s wannabe fascist governor, Ron DeSantis, aka “Trump Lite.” So he “re-truths” these surveys ad nauseum.

Donald Trump Walking the Plank

The polls that Trump posts are, of course, invariably positive. His malignant narcissism demands that he be exalted at all times. While he does post some polls from mainstream sources, others are conducted by right-wing outfits that are shamelessly slanted. He even posts some Twitter polls conducted by such reputable figues as “Catturd.” Only rarely does he post anything that shows him losing. And when he does, it’s only to whine and rebuke the faithless reprobate…

SUCH AS: Fox News Hack Laura Ingraham Draws Trump’s Wrath for Showing a Poll that Affirms He’s a Loser

Politico just completed a new poll that reveals the nation’s views of Trump’s legal tribulations. And given the results of the poll, we should not expect him (or Fox News, or any of his media or political flunkies) to promote it. Unless it’s to bash Politico for having the audacity to publish anything that demeans Dear Leader. According to Politico

“Forty-nine percent of respondents — including 25 percent of Republicans — said that they believe Trump is guilty in the pending federal prosecution, which alleges that he willfully retained sensitive government documents after leaving office and obstructed a subsequent federal investigation.

“A nearly identical 48 percent of respondents — including 24 percent of Republicans — believe that Trump is guilty in the Manhattan DA’s pending prosecution, which alleges that Trump falsified business records in connection with a payment to the porn star Stormy Daniels in the run-up to the 2016 election in order to keep her quiet about an alleged sexual relationship between the two.”

The only thing surprising about the broad-based results of this poll is that the number of those who believe that Trump is guilty isn’t higher. However, it is a bit surprising, and welcome, that a quarter of Republicans are convinced of Trump’s guilt. But don’t expect Trump to “truth” that poll, if he is even permitted to see it by his handlers.

The Politico poll is not the first to show that Trump is losing ground among the American electorate. A recent NBC News poll found that, while Biden and the Democratic Party are not exactly universally adored, Trump and the GOP are roundly hated and are underwater by more than 20%. And Trump won’t be pleased to learn that only 33% of Republicans identify as Trump supporters.

SEE THIS: Americans are Unsatisfied with Politics in General, But Specifically Despise Trump and the GOP

It is likely that Trump posts so many of his rosy polls as a defense mechanism to convince himself that he is the shining object of everyone’s creepy desire. He needs to satisfy his humongous, yet fragile, ego. So whenever you hear Trump fluffing himself and boosting his position among the public, remember that he is a pathological liar with psychotic self-esteem issues. The truth that Trump cannot escape is that he was the most unpopular president in modern times, and continues to reach ever deeper depths of disrepute.

An Independence Day Reminder of All the Ways the Pseudo-Patriotic Republicans Hate America

The 4th of July celebration of America’s independence is a day that the American people look forward to as time of unity and harmony of purpose. It’s a day to honor those who have sacrificed to shape and maintain the freedoms that we all cherish.

Donald Trump Hugs Flag

Unfortunately, there are many charlatans who seek only to exploit the day and its significance. They wear patriotism like a mask in order advance their own personal agendas of power and greed. Those charlatans are known better as the Republican Party. Particularly as represented by their Dear Leader, Donald Trump.

RELATED STORY: Trump Drops an Utterly Unhinged Harangue to Celebrate Himself on the 4th of July 2022

This year the usual GOP suspects are out in force spreading their disingenuous Independence Day greetings. And in doing so, they conveniently forget all of the anti-American things they’ve done for the past year(s) that are contrary to the nation’s principles.

Fortunately, former Labor Secretary Robert Reich is on the lookout for the right-wing hypocrisies. And he posted an Independence Day video (see below) that calls out the pseudo-patriotic pretenders. He begins by saying that…

“Republicans claim they love America. But they sure don’t seem to like the American people. They consistently oppose reforms that a majority of American believe would make their lives better. Like raising the minimum wage, paid family leave, and student debt relief.”

Reich then enumerates the positions of the Republican Party that are starkly at odds with the rest of the country. And it’s a long list. He notes that…

  • Republicans have an aversion to American cities, “which is where 80% of Americans live.” But they also legislate against rural areas by opposing the expansion of Medicaid and food stamps.
  • Republicans reject climate change, and they subordinate the interests of citizens to those of corporations that pollute the environment and abuse the land and waters.
  • Republicans pretend to revere the military, even as they cut their benefits and healthcare.
  • Republicans attack core American values by suppressing freedom of speech, implementing book bans, and imposing religion in violation of the doctrine of separation of church and state.
  • Republicans assault democracy by passing laws that make it harder to vote, punishing legitimately elected officials, and making baseless allegations of election fraud in order to overturn results that they don’t like.

It’s hard to find anything that remotely resembles patriotism in the Republican mindset. And Reich does an excellent job of summarizing it. He closes by saying that…

“It’s time to stop letting Republicans claim the mantle of patriotism without actually being patriots. Patriotism means loving freedom. Freedom to make your own healthcare choices. Freedom to choose who and how you love. Freedom of speech. Freedom of assembly. Freedom to unionize. Freedom also means wanting Americans to be free from the fear of gun violence. And free from crushing student debt.

“Above all, patriotism involves strengthening our democracy. True patriots don’t put loyalty to their political party above their love of America. True patriots don’t support an attempted coup. Now is the time for the rest of us to reclaim patriotism and affirm its true meaning.”

In the meantime. Trump was up at 2:30 AM to post a profane, and typically Trumpian, Independence Day message…

Sadly, a new tradition seems to be emerging for the 4th of July – mass shootings. There have been two this year (so far). Let’s hope this new ritual doesn’t become routine. Last year there was one that was memorialized by the GOP’s Shadow House Speaker, Marjorie Taylor Greene…

Donald Trump: Presidential Candidates Under Felony Indictment Have ‘No Right to Be Running’

The inbred hypocrisy of Donald Trump and his MAGA flavored Republican Party is an unmistakable feature that they have exhibited for years. It has actually become a tool that they employ shamelessly in the dissemination of their flagrantly dishonest propaganda.

Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton

Trump himself is the foremost dispenser of this prefab hypocrisy. He excels at making public statements that are diametrically opposed to his prior statements, even when they were merely minutes apart. It’s such an obvious diversion from reality that it’s possible it isn’t hypocrisy at all, but a more serious mental deficiency.

For much of the past few months, Trump has been immersed in anxiety over the multitude of crimes he has committed and the legal accountably that he is now facing. He has been been indicted twice on than 60 felony counts ranging from falsifying business records, to obstruction of justice, to violations of the Espionage Act due to his theft and hoarding of classified documents.

Regarding those documents, Trump has floated numerous hypocritical explanations for keeping them at his Mar-a-Lago home/hotel. He has variously claimed that they don’t exist, that they were declassified with his mind, that they were planted by the FBI, and that they actually belong to him. Clearly, it isn’t possible for all of those excuses to be true. But as the Hypocrite in Chief, Trump doesn’t care.

Now that Trump is an indicted suspect in dozens of felonious acts, he is lashing out at law enforcement and prosecutors, many of whom he appointed. And the fact that he’s a criminal defendant doesn’t seem to be an impediment to his campaign. In fact, he brags that his polling goes up with each new charge.

However, that was not always his opinion of presidential candidates under investigation. Reporters at CNN recently reached back to Trump’s 2016 campaign when he was running against Hillary Clinton and was calling on the feds to “lock her up.” What they found were Trump’s feelings about that state of affairs, at least at that time, were markedly different…

“Trump made the comments nearly seven years ago about Hillary Clinton during the 2016 presidential campaign.

“’We could very well have a sitting president under felony indictment and ultimately a criminal trial,’ Trump said during a November 5, 2016, campaign rally in Reno, Nevada, reviewed by CNN’s KFile. ‘It would grind government to a halt.'”

[And that…]

“If [Hillary Clinton] were to win, it would create an unprecedented Constitutional crisis that would cripple the operations of our government. She is likely to be under investigation for many years, and also it will probably end up – in my opinion – in a criminal trial. […]. She has no right to be running.”

There are significant differences between the probes of Clinton and Trump. For one, there was never any credible evidence of Clinton having committed a crime. Consequently, she was never indicted. She was, in fact, eventually exonerated in full. Trump, on the other hand, has been indicted on 60+ felony counts. And there is voluminous evidence in both material documents and testimony from Trump associates, including his former attorneys.

So if Trump were interested in showing some principled consistency in his views, he would immediately drop out of the race. After all, he is “likely to be under investigation for many years,” which would “cripple the operations of our government,” and “grind government to a halt.” But consistent with his practice of Olympic-grade hypocrisy, we should not expect Trump to hold himself to the standards he imposes on others. In his mind he is immune from any judgment or punishment because everything he does is “perfect.”

The Final Battle? Trump’s Dystopian Campaign Ad Promises to ‘Liberate America From Villains’

Throughout his political career, Donald Trump has evoked a nightmarish vision of America and the world. In Trump’s diseased mind there are demons in every shadow and monsters under every bed. And all of them are hell-bent on destroying him due to his saintly virtue.

Flaming Trump

Trump relentlessly portrays himself as a comic book hero warrior battling on behalf the enfeebled peasants who cannot survive without him. But he comes off as a pathetic loser steeped in victimhood who only cares about himself. His seething weakness and fear is glaring to anyone not blinded by the worshipful idolatry he demands of his devotees.

This week Trump released his deranged version of a campaign ad on his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social. It reaffirmed his grotesque impression of the nation that he aspires to lead – no, make that rule over. The video is a horror show of ghastly imagery and looming threats. As he walks down a dark hallway with his customary pained grimace, Trump says in voiceover that…

“This is the final battle. With you at my side we will abolish the Deep State. We expel the war mongers from our government. We will drive out the globalists. We will cast out the communists. Marxists, and fascists. We will throw off the sick political class that hates our country. We will rout the fake news media. And we will liberate America from these villains once and for all.”

Trump’s message most closely resembles that of an aspiring messiah. Notice that his single focus is that he will remove all manner of imagined atrocities that plague the nation and its tortured citizens. It is all about who he will “abolish, expel, drive/cast out, throw off,” and “rout.” Of course, everyone that he is declaring will be banished are merely Americans who dare to disagree with him, and the legal authorities seeking to hold him accountable for his multitude of crimes.

When he’s done, Trump’s concept of the nation would have about 10% of the population, consisting only of his embittered cult disciples. It’s a recasting of the divine doctrine that he is the only savior for the sorry sacks who salivate over him. He frequently tells his followers that they are the targets of the evildoers, but that he is taking the blows on their behalf. In other words, he’s dying for their sins.

Death and morbidity (and salvation) are common themes in Trump World. This campaign ad is reminiscent of his prior messaging wherein he whines that “Our nation is now third world and dying,” and that “the American dream is dead!” That’s when he isn’t fear mongering about America being plagued by “blood-soaked streets” in “cesspool cities.” And don’t forget his inaugural address in 2017 that gleefully warned of “American Carnage.”

SEE THIS: The American Carnage: Donald Trump’s Bleak Vision Of The Disunited States

The “optimism” in Trump’s campaign ad is sure to expand the voter base – of Democrats. He is simply incapable of expressing himself in any terms that are remotely positive or uplifting. The entire strategy of Trump’s Republican Party and MAGA movement is to manufacture as much dread of the future – and hatred of the “others” – as possible. It may be the one thing that he’s any good at. But unfortunately for him, it won’t help him to achieve his goal of Putinesque tyranny.
