Donald Trump Walking the Plank

Trump’s recent impeachable escapades include his invasion of Venezuela, his investigation of Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, his illegal and inflationary tariffs, his targeting Democratic led states for funding cuts, his failing to release the Epstein files, his conducting business with foreign, adversarial governments, hid selling pardons, his suppressing free speech and the freedom of the press, and too many more to enumerate. It’s a record that illustrates just how dangerous he is to American national security.

On Sunday night Trump posted a comment on his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, that may be his most blatant breach of presidential ethics yet, and poses a real question about whether he can continue to serve in the office of the presidency. What he posted was a graphic in which he declared himself to be the “Acting President of Venezuela.”

That declaration poses a troubling constitutional problem for Trump. Not that he cares. But Article I, Section 9, Clause 8, of the Constitution (within the Emoluments Clause) states that…

“No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State”.

By declaring himself the acting president of Venezuela, Trump is accepting a “Title” from a foreign state. That’s a crystal clear example of the sort of conflict of interest that the Founding Fathers sought to prohibit when they drafted the Constitution. Trump’s coronation of himself as Venezuela’s president implies accepting a foreign office “without the Consent of the Congress.” And accepting such a foreign role under those circumstances could make him constitutionally ineligible to continue in U.S. office.

The questions of where Trump’s loyalties lie are inescapable. He is already claiming to be taking over Venezuela’s oil industry and he posted that “This Oil will be sold at its Market Price, and that money will be controlled by me.” Which isn’t exactly a pledge of allegiance to America.

Technically the Emoluments Clause does not trigger an automatic removal from office. but it does present legitimate grounds for impeachment. Trump cannot reasonably perform the duties of the president of Venezuela while occupying the White House here at home. Hell, he can’t perform the duties of president of the United States even without the added burden of Venezuela.

Trump either needs to resign one of those offices, get an approval from Congress, or be removed involuntarily. The latter could be accomplished by either impeachment or the invocation of the 25th Amendment. But that would require a combination of courage and patriotism on the part of Congress. And that isn’t going to happen without pressure from the people. So once again, we are the ones we’ve been waiting for. 8647! NOW!

Trump Didn’t Notify Congress of His Venezuela Attack to Avoid Media Leaks – Then He Leaked It

There are many enemies plotting to destroy Donald Trump and his MAGA movement. At least in his sickly mind. That sort of paranoia frequently accompanies the symptoms of malignant narcissism that he clearly suffers from. It creates a psychotic loop of mental impairment that feeds on its own perversity.

Chief among Trump’s perceived enemies is the media. Although it’s a complex love/hate relationship wherein he despises the very same free press whose attention he lusts after. What he calls “the enemy of the people” is also his best friend. And he milks it relentlessly in a futile attempt to juice his standing in the polls.

In the latest episode of the daily Trump soap opera, “Days of Our Lies,” we find our star lashing out manically at those who he is convinced are fiendishly conspiring against him. Following his illegal attack on Venezuela, and the kidnapping of its nefarious and illegitimate head of state, Nicholas Maduro, Trump was asked by the press about why he failed to comply with the law that requires him to inform Congress and get their consent before conducting such an operation. He replied that “Congress has a tendency leak. This would not be good.”

First of all, there is zero evidence of any such tendency by Congress. Particularly the members of the “Gang of 8” leaders of relevant committees. And secondly, that wouldn’t be a valid reason to violate a law that is spelled out in the Constitution. If any president could simply ignore the Constitution simply by claiming that complying with it would be inconvenient, then what good would the Constitution be? “Sorry,” President Waterboard might say, “But if we don’t torture a confession out of that suspect he might not be convicted.”

What makes Trump’s remarks all the worse is that, after whining about leaks that didn’t happen he, or someone in his regime, actually leaked information about the Venezuela operation to the press. As reported by Semafor…

“The New York Times and Washington Post learned of a secret US raid on Venezuela soon before it was scheduled to begin Friday night — but held off publishing what they knew to avoid endangering US troops, two people familiar with the communications between the administration and the news organizations said.

“The decisions in the New York and Washington newsrooms to maintain official secrecy is in keeping with longstanding American journalistic traditions.”

So the Trump regime told two national news organizations about the Venezuela mission in advance, but withheld that information from the people’s representatives in Congress, who he is required by law to tell. And they weren’t even news organizations that were predictably pro-Trump, such as Fox News or Newsmax. So why would he spill to the New York Times and the Washington Post? Perhaps to get some positive press in the aftermath of the attack. Semafor also noted that…

“Trump celebrated Maduro’s capture in a phone interview with The New York Times at 4:30 a.m. Saturday,” [and that] “the Washington Post editorial board came out strongly in favor of the move, praising the Trump administration’s decisiveness and declaring the move a ‘major victory for American interests.'”

That makes sense since Trump already knew that MAGA media like Fox News was already going to report nice things about anything he does. And while the Times and the Post have been trending rightward, they might be encouraged if he threw them a juicy scoop.

Trump’s Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, completed the contradictory stance by the Trumpists that the media couldn’t be trusted. In fact, he admitted that the media are trustworthy custodians of sensitive info. He told George Stephanopoulos of ABC’s This Week (another non-MAGA news outlet) that…

“Frankly, a number of media outlets had gotten leaks that this was coming and held it for that very reason. And we thank them for doing that or lives could’ve been lost.”

So not only are they not distrustful of the press, they are thanking the media for their integrity and patriotism. Which is a measure of respect that they wouldn’t afford to members of Congress, despite their legal obligations. Yet they will still bash the press and Congress because they believe it earns them political points to do so. And then they will do whatever the heck they want, because that’s how authoritarians roll.

UPDATE: Trump didn’t tell Congress about the attack on Venezuela, but he did tell the oil companies. So it really was all about oil after all. And that is, by definition, the behavior of a fascist oligarchy.

Trump Declares the New York Times a ‘Threat to National Security’ that ‘Must Be Stopped’

He regularly refers to the media in Stalinist terms as “the enemy of the people.” And even mild criticism is met with savage insults and ludicrous lawsuits intended to intimidate and silence anyone who dares to find fault with His MAGA-sty.

However, if you thought that Trump was satisfied with his constant barrage of vile invective, you are vastly underestimating his unquenchable capacity for deep seated loathing and voracious appetite for vengeance. There is nothing that triggers a Trump temper tantrum more than a news story that reveals his multitude of glaring flaws. He demands unflinching adoration at all times.

On Tuesday morning Trump escalated his war against the free press with a spine-chilling comment posted to his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social. The hostility in his most recent rhetoric should be of concern to every freedom loving American patriot who cherishes the Constitution and it’s protection of liberty. Trump raged in a late-night outburst against one of his perennial foes, the New York Times, over some unspecified offense to his massive, yet fragile ego…

“The Failing New York Times, and their lies and purposeful misrepresentations, is a serious threat to the National Security of our Nation. Their Radical Left, Unhinged Behavior, writing FAKE Articles and Opinions in a never ending way, must be dealt with and stopped. THEY ARE A TRUE ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE! Thank you for you attention to this matter. PRESIDENT DJT”

It’s impossible to decipher precisely what specific story set Trump off late last night. It could be related to the latest bombshell incriminations in the newly released Jeffrey Epstein files. Or he might be upset that the Times caught him napping during recent Cabinet meetings. Or maybe he’s whining about not being praised for having crashed the economy and making everything more expensive with his inflationary tariffs (aka taxes). Or perhaps people aren’t properly elated by his extrajudicial murders of possibly innocent people in small boats off the coast of Venezuela. There is just so much to choose from.

Trump may just be outraged by an all-of-the-above batch of reporting on atrocities for which he is responsible. In any event, he is embarking on a path of psychotic fury over what he claims – without any rational basis – are “FAKE Articles and Opinions.” Of course all articles and opinions are constitutionally protected, even if the subject of them disapproves. But since Trump doesn’t bother to cite any of these alleged misrepresentation, his claims can’t be confirmed or believed.

What’s even worse about this outburst is Trump’s allegation that the allegedly “Unhinged Behavior” of the Times is a “serious threat to the National Security of our Nation.” That’s the sort of language that Trump commonly unleashes to justify violent military assaults on whoever he is angry with at the moment.

Consequently, it’s fair to assume that he is craving an opportunity to treat the Times the same way he is treating the people in those boats in the Caribbean. After all, he used the very same language for both of these situations. Just one week ago he justified bombing those boats by asserting without evidence that they were transporting drugs, and that “drug trafficking cartels POSE A THREAT to U.S. National Security.” And now he’s saying that about the New York Times.

It is clear that Trump has descended into a state of schizoid delusion and is suffering from severe cognitive impairment. It is Trump who is the imminent danger to the national security of the United States. And he needs to be deprived of power before he causes real, irreparable harm. Whether his removal is done by Congress, his Cabinet, the judiciary, his doctors, or his family, it needs to be done. And soon!

Toddler Trump Throws Tantrum, Threatens to Sue ABC for Restoring Jimmy Kimmel and Free Speech

His seething animosity toward Jimmy Kimmel – and anyone else who dares to be critical of him – manifested in an ill-considered and anti-American scheme to muzzle Kimmel and have his program removed from the air.

Trump’s blatant breach of the First Amendment’s protection of the free press lasted for five whole days. After which, ABC and Disney caved in to the popular pressure to restore Kimmel’s show without conditions. That pressure came from journalists, media executives, politicians, celebrities, and mostly from the American people. And throughout the controversy, all Trump could do was whine…

Trump’s preposterous claim that failing to be unflinchingly adoring of him is “illegal” is evidence of his toxic disrespect for the law and/or his shrinking capacity to grasp reality. His unbridled outrage was further expressed shortly after ABC announced that Kimmel would return to his program. Trump posted a comment dripping with desperation and hatred to his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, that only confirmed just how mentally dysfunctional he has become. What follows are a few annotated excerpts from his rancid rant.

“I can’t believe ABC Fake News gave Jimmy Kimmel his job back. The White House was told by ABC that his Show was cancelled!”
There is no way that ABC told Trump that Kimmel was canceled. From the beginning they said it was a suspension. And this had nothing to do with ABC News. Kimmel is employed by ABC’s entertainment division.

“…his audience is GONE, and his ‘talent’ was never there. Why would they want someone back who does so poorly?”
Kimmel consistently ranked as the #2 late night program, following Stephen Colbert. And if Trump really thought that Kimmel was a talentless host with no audience, why the heck would he ever bother with him? The only thing that would do (and did) was raise his profile and popularity.

“…puts the Network in jeopardy by playing 99% positive Democrat GARBAGE.”
So what? It is entirely legal – and protected by the Constitution – to be 99% negative toward Trump. That’s actually going easy on him. And where would the jeopardy come from? Trump’s threats of censorship?

“…that would be a major Illegal Campaign Contribution. I think we’re going to test ABC out on this. Let’s see how we do. Last time I went after them, they gave me $16 Million Dollars.”
If Kimmel’s jokes represent a “major Illegal Campaign Contribution” to the Democratic Party, what would he call what Fox News (and Newsmax, OAN, etc.) is doing with their 100% pro-Trump, anti-Democratic content? And his reference to the prior capitulation by ABC is an open threat to abuse his power again by filing another bogus lawsuit. He hasn’t been particularly successful in that endeavor lately.

“A true bunch of losers! Let Jimmy Kimmel rot in his bad Ratings.”
Okay! STFU and let him. Or is Trump afraid that Kimmel is giving the American people a more accurate and honest impression of him and must be silenced by any means necessary?

Ironically, Trump and his MAGA minions have argued themselves into a corner. They are contradicting their own claims that Trump and his FCC mob boss – er, chairman – Brendan Carr, had nothing to do with Kimmel’s suspension. They have been saying it was ABC’s choice to suspend Kimmel and just the forces of free market capitalism at work. If so, then why isn’t that true for ABC choosing to return the Kimmel show?

Trump’s flaming bullshittery has resulted in an unexpected boost for Kimmel. CNN’s Harry Enten revealed the spike in viewership for Kimmel on YouTube, where his six month median reach was about 240,000 views. Enten shows that the number has rocketed to 6.7 million, a whopping 2,683% increase. And it is still growing. It has more than doubled, exceeding 13 million, as of this writing. Nice work Trump!

UPDATE: The Nielsen ratings show that Kimmel drew 6.26 million viewers on ABC. About four times his average rating.

This, however, isn’t over. Station groups Sinclair and Nexstar are continuing to block Kimmel’s show from airing on the stations in their markets. They are both companies with pending business that relies on the Trump administration’s approval. So they are seemingly bending over backwards to kiss his…let’s say ring. Under certain circumstances ABC could respond by offering Kimmel’s show to other stations in those markets. And they can also promote viewing in those markets on streaming platforms such as YouTube. They should look into those options.

Gavin Newsom, to Sen. Adam Schiff, to New York Attorney General Letitia James, to everyone who served honorably on the House Committee to Investigate January 6th. All driven by his personal animus and hunger for retribution.

On Sunday Trump dispatched his Migrant Harassment [and Border] Czar, Tom Homan, to Fox News to unleash another shipload of pure propaganda. The segment began with host Jason Chaffetz lining up a loaded, softball question for Homan…

Chaffetz: So those protesters that we do see, I mean, some of it might be organic, but does strike me, it seems, like a lot of them are being bused in. You see them at the end of these protests, actually getting back on buses. Are these protesters, the bulk of them, are they actually being financed from the outside? And is that something that Homeland’s looking at? Is the financing of how all these so-called organic protests are happening?
Homan: Absolutely. We know a lot of these protesters are being paid. Many have admitted to it. So, yes, there’s a whole effort right now in identifying those who are funding these operations, those who fund the weapons that are being used. So, yeah, and they’ll be held accountable too and held to the highest standards of the law. They will be prosecuted, too.

FOX: Are these protesters actually being financed from the outside, and is that something Homeland is looking at — the financing of how these so-called organic protests are happening?HOMAN: Absolutely … they will be prosecuted too

The suggestion by Chaffetz that protesters were “bused in” is intended to imply that they are not genuine protesters, but hired imposters. Like almost everything that Fox News airs, he has no evidence of that. Even if some protesters arrived in buses, it is not uncommon for people to organize transportation to a protest site. Chaffetz went on to ask whether the protesters were “financed from the outside.” Once again, that is a purely speculative commentary with no proof whatsoever.

Homan, however, took the bullpucky baton and ran with it. He affirmed that he will “absolutely” prosecute those who allegedly funded the protests. He claimed to “know a lot of these protesters are being paid.” Never mind that, despite his assertion, he is unable to name a single protester, much less many, who “admitted” to it.

Homan also claims that these mysterious funders were financing protesters with weapons. Which is peculiar, since none of them were found to be carrying any, and none were used during the protests. He is just escalating the accusations to instill more fear of a rich man who actually loves America. And, by the way, if Soros were funding some protesters, it is entirely legal to donate to groups who organize lawful protests. That is until Trump signs an executive order banning it in violation of the Constitution.

On the basis of those thin allegations, Hogan is promising to prosecute unnamed funders whose identities are still unknown. But rest assured it will likely lead to the rabid right’s perennial nemesis, George Soros. Trump himself recently threatened that “Soros should be charged with RICO because of their support of Violent Protests.” Which never happened. But that didn’t stop Trump from delivering the ominous warning that he “Be careful, we’re watching you!”

Soros is only guilty of having the audacity to criticize Dear Leader and to allegedly help other American citizens who share those criticisms to exercise their rights “peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” You know, like it says in the First Amendment.

Homan is one of Trump’s top generals in his war against democracy and freedom. And his frequent appearances on Fox News are not coincidental. Trump Flunky Kari Lake is Blocked From Silencing the Voice of America By a GOP-Appointed Judge

High on the priority list for Donald Trump in his second occupation of the White House has been his fierce determination to subjugate the media to his will. He has endeavored furiously to clamp down on the free press and to reshape the White House press corps into a slobbering cabal of sycophants.

In the process, Trump installed blindly loyal and unflinching servants to his anti-democratic and flagrantly censorious agenda. Among them was the failed Arizona gubernatorial and senate candidate, Kari Lake. Trump created a new position for her to reign over what used to be the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM), which oversees multiple international broadcasting networks including Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL), Radio Free Asia (RFA), Radio Television Martí, the Middle East Broadcasting Networks (MBN), and the Voice of America (VOA). And Lake began immediately to dismantle the entire operation and/or redefine its mission to become a Trump Propaganda Disseminator.

Fortunately, the Trump/Lake Department of Disinformation suffers from the same inherent flaws that have hobbled almost every other government agency over which Trump rules: terminal stupidity and incompetence. And as a result, it is struggling to complete its unholy mission of strangling one of the most effective international news networks ever conceived. As reported by NPR (another network that Trump is trying to destroy) reported that…

“A federal judge ruled on Thursday that Trump administration official Kari Lake can’t unilaterally fire the director of Voice of America, saying she’s breaking the law in trying to do so.

“Instead, by law, Lake must have the explicit backing of an advisory panel set up by Congress to help insulate the international broadcaster and its sister networks from political pressure. As President Trump dismissed six of the seven members of the panel shortly after taking office and has not named their replacements to be confirmed by the U.S. Senate, Lake cannot take such an action.”

Lake and her Justice Department lawyers were humiliated in court when U.S Senior District Court Judge Royce C. Lamberth ruled that “The defendants do not even feign that their efforts to remove [director of VOA, Michael] Abramowitz comply with that statutory requirement, There is no longer a question of whether the termination was lawful.”

Lake expressed confidence that she would prevail on appeal because “elections have consequences.” Which is precisely the sort of rank politicization that the law was crafted to avoid. Then she made an obtuse and irrelevant reference to the Constitution and called Lamberth a “radical.” Never mind that he was appointed to the bench by conservative icon Ronald Reagan. Lamberth warned the Justice Department attorneys that they were “verging on contempt of court” for failing to provide information that he had demanded for months.

It remains to be seen how this matter will resolve. Trump has demonstrated that he is not averse to ignoring judicial mandates. Which is why the rule of law is in such a precarious state under the wannabe dictator currently smelling up the Oval Office. But at least the courts are remaining true to the law and the Constitution – for now. And if the people and their representatives remain stalwart in defense of American principles, we will prevail in the long run. Keep hope alive!

Now Trump is making a public threat to billionaire philanthropist and progressive donor, George Soros. The offense that Trump is charging Soros with is his having the temerity to criticize Dear Leader and to help American citizens who share those criticisms to exercise their constitutional rights to peaceably assembly to redress their grievances. “George Soros, and his wonderful Radical Left son, should be charged with RICO because of their support of Violent Protests, and much more, all throughout the United States of America. We’re not going to allow these lunatics to rip apart America any more, never giving it so much as a chance to ‘BREATHE,’ and be FREE. Soros, and his group of psychopaths, have caused great damage to our Country! That includes his Crazy, West Coast friends. Be careful, we’re watching you! Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

First of all, Soros is hardly a radical leftist. He is a devout advocate of democracy who fled Nazi-occupied Hungary as a child, made his way to London and then New York,, became an American citizen, and built a fortune in the capitalist equity markets. He was even honored as “Person of the Year” by the Financial times. That’s who Trump, a faker who inherited his wealth and lost much of it in a variety of scams, thinks is a lunatic who shouldn’t be allowed express himself or engage in political activities.

The Rabid Right has long regarded Soros as something akin to the Anti-Christ. They lob bitter, anti-Semitic insults at him. They accuse every progressive in America of being on the Soros payroll. I’m still waiting for my paycheck. If Soros had paid every protester that the right has accused him of funding, he would have depleted his fortune decades ago. And none of the funds that he has donated to groups that organize legal protests has supported or resulted in violence. That’s just another Trump lie.

However, don’t be mistaken that Trump is only interested in beating down Soros. He is laying the groundwork to oppress anyone who opposes his flagrantly tyrannical ambitions. He wants to use RICO laws (the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act) to silence any and all dissent from his fascist MAGA cult movement. He says so explicitly with reference to Soros’ “group of psychopaths” and “West Coast friends” to whom Trump issues a chilling warning to “Be careful, we’re watching you!”

Well, let’s put Trump on notice. We are watching him too. And we’re watching his minions who aid and abet his anti-American objectives. A day of reckoning will come. America will not fall to his dystopian dreams of totalitarianism. And folks like Soros, and Schiff, and California Governor Gavin Newsom (who Trump said should be arrested), will be memorialized as heroes and patriots. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Whatever day it is, it is another day that Donald Trump is seething with fury over some contrived offense that exists only in his warped imagination. It hardly matters what the subject is. Trump eagerly exploits it to fuel his latest tantrum, to smear a political foe, or to deflect from some other atrocity that he is desperate to evade, such as his unsavory relationships with pedophile partners Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.

Today the scandal du jour is Trump’s horror that there are museums in America that accurately reflect the history of the nation with all of its pride and pimples. In Trump’s cartoon brain there is only goodness and light in the nation’s past. Unless it was during the tenure of a “radical, lunatic, Democrat.” In that case it was abhorrent beyond belief and merits immediate investigation and incarceration. Would he put that in his “museum”?

In a comment posted to his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, Trump expressed his dismay over the state of museums that have the audacity to preserve the nation’s historical legacy. In a rabidly unhinged outburst, Trump raged that…

“The Museums throughout Washington, but all over the Country are, essentially, the last remaining segment of ‘WOKE.’ The Smithsonian is OUT OF CONTROL, where everything discussed is how horrible our Country is, how bad Slavery was, and how unaccomplished the downtrodden have been — Nothing about Success, nothing about Brightness, nothing about the Future.”

That’s right! Who hasn’t been aghast at how “OUT OF CONTRO” the certifiably psycho Smithsonian is? And now that they have been caught disseminating propaganda that smears slavery as “bad” it can no longer be ignored or tolerated. Especially when all of the “Brightness” and “Success” that this country has produced is completely discarded and never celebrated by the Smithsonian or any other museum. Well, except for all of the many exhibits that celebrate America in every museum all over the country. But Trump was just getting warmed up. He continued…

“We are not going to allow this to happen, and I have instructed my attorneys to go through the Museums, and start the exact same process that has been done with Colleges and Universities where tremendous progress has been made. This Country cannot be WOKE, because WOKE IS BROKE. We have the ‘HOTTEST’ Country in the World, and we want people to talk about it, including in our Museums.”

Is this what MAGA voted for? Trump is dispatching his crackpot attorneys to swarm out around the country to do to museums what he has done to colleges and universities. By which he means smothering them in bogus lawsuits, withholding federal funds, and threatening further fascist suppression, if they fail to comply with his illegal and unconstitutional demands.

Trump wants to make sure that every college, museum, and media outlet, dispenses his grotesquely authoritarian perspective of the world. And no other views will be permitted. In fact, those with opposing views can expect to be arrested and sent to Trump’s gulags in some alligator swamp or third world country. And since slavery is no longer considered to be bad in the Era of Trump, critics may find themselves in chains, picking cotton or assembling iPhones.

And yes, this is what MAGA voted for. But not the rest of us. And we will not sit by while Trump and his cult destroy American democracy and freedom. Trump is already suffering some the worst public approval ratings in modern times. And his mental health is on shaky ground, to put it mildly. Along with his insane attacks on schools and museums and the free press, he is also suited up for a fierce battle…

Herr Trump Decrees that He Will Abolish Mail-In Voting and that States Must Obey His MAGA-STY

The goal of the totalitarian dystopia that Donald Trump has been craving just got closer to realization with his posting of a tediously long and lie-riddled rant on his failing Twitter rip off, Truth Social. Adding to his deployment of ICE stormtroopers in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., and his directives to have his Justice Department persecute his political foes, Trump is decreeing a new and obvious breach of the Constitution aimed at advancing his autocratic aspirations.

Donald Trump, Vote By Mail

Trump’s latest tyrannical outburst decrees that he will unilaterally abolish what he calls the “THE MAIL-IN BALLOT HOAX.” [Has anyone been counting his alleged hoaxes?] His proposal would end mail-in voting throughout the country. It’s part of a plan that Trump is executing to rig elections in order to suppress the rights of voters and support the election of his MAGA Republicans. And it comes on the heels of his campaign to redraw congressional districts to favor the GOP and deny Democrats a fair vote.

In Trump’s post he virtually admits his anti-democratic intentions, saying that it is his purpose to harm Democratic voters “with their HORRIBLE Radical Left policies.” But there is so much more in his extended harangue that ought to concern all Americans. For instance…

“I am going to lead a movement to get rid of MAIL-IN BALLOTS, and also, while we’re at it, Highly “Inaccurate,” Very Expensive, and Seriously Controversial VOTING MACHINES.”
The elimination of mail-in voting – and electronic voting machines – would make it impossible to conduct the vote counting in a timely manner. It would also be more prone to errors.

“We are now the only Country in the World that uses Mail-In Voting. All others gave it up because of the MASSIVE VOTER FRAUD ENCOUNTERED.”
This is a flat out lie. At least 30 other countries permit mail-in voting. That includes Russia. Which is a ludicrous example of fair voting practices, but who Trump used to support his lie.

“WE WILL BEGIN THIS EFFORT, WHICH WILL BE STRONGLY OPPOSED BY THE DEMOCRATS BECAUSE THEY CHEAT AT LEVELS NEVER SEEN BEFORE, by signing an EXECUTIVE ORDER.”
Trump is projecting again. It is he and the GOP who are most commonly found to have cheated in elections. More to the point., he has no power to order how elections are held, especially not by executive order.

“Remember, the States are merely an ‘agent’ for the Federal Government in counting and tabulating the votes. They must do what the Federal Government, as represented by the President of the United States, tells them.”
HOLY CRAP! Trump is saying out loud that he believes that he, as president, can issue mandates to the nation that must be obeyed, and that override the state sovereignty provided in the Constitution.

“Democrats are virtually Unelectable without using this completely disproven Mail-In SCAM. ELECTIONS CAN NEVER BE HONEST WITH MAIL IN BALLOTS/VOTING, and everybody, IN PARTICULAR THE DEMOCRATS, KNOWS THIS.”
What Trump means here is that he is scared to death of fair elections, and that they must not be permitted in the future. He has previously said that if mail-in voting is allowed “There will never be a Republican elected to high office again.” Which sounds more like a reward than a threat. However, he has also taken the opposite position, urging his supporters to “vote absentee, by mail, early in person, or on Election Day.”

For the record, Article I, Section 4, Clause 1, of the Constitution states that “The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of chusing Senators.”

In short, the president does not have the authority to alter the way states decide to hold their elections. At best he would need to get Congress to pass legislation to make any changes to state law.

Not that Trump gives a damn about the Constitution. Although, it could be interesting to see if Republicans in Congress would willingly give up their Constitutional authorities. They have done it before for Dear Leader Trump. But hopefully there are lines that even they won’t cross in their betrayal of American principles.

And with regard to the issues that he has deemed crucial, he is underwater on everything from immigration and deportations, to tariffs and trade, to foreign policy and the wars in Ukraine and Gaza, to the economy, and more.

That explains why Trump and his MAGA minions are desperately plotting to rig the 2026 elections in order to maintain their tyrannical grip power. To that end, Texas governor Greg Abbott has assembled a special session of the Texas state legislature to force a rare mid-census redistricting, intending to redraw the district maps to favor Republicans and oust Democrats. Although he may end up regretting the partisan hornet’s nest that he has aroused.

Not one to be left out of any fiery news cycle, Trump joined in with his own ideas that represent a massive escalation of his war to crown himself King of America. On his failing Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, Trump posted a comment announcing his intention to raise the ante on redistricting with a grossly unlawful scheme to steal the elections in 2026 and 2028 and beyond…

“I have instructed our Department of Commerce to immediately begin work on a new and highly accurate CENSUS based on modern day facts and figures and, importantly, using the results and information gained from the Presidential Election of 2024. People who are in our Country illegally WILL NOT BE COUNTED IN THE CENSUS. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

First of all, Trump couldn’t care less about accuracy or facts. If he did he would not have just fired the commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics simply because he didn’t like the accurate facts that were revealed in the recent jobs report.

More to the point, Trump’s decree to conduct a new census on a purely political partisan basis is blatantly unconstitutional. Not that he cares about that either. But the Constitution clearly states how the census is to be conducted in Article I, Section 2, Clause 3, which says that…

“The actual Enumeration shall be made within three Years after the first Meeting of the Congress of the United States, and within every subsequent Term of ten Years, in such Manner as they shall by Law direct.”

So according to the Constitution, the census is to be conducted once every ten years. There is nothing in that clause that allows for more frequent surveys. There are also no funds allocated by Congress to pay the $15 billion dollars that it costs to do a new, complete census.

However, that isn’t the only Constitutional obstacle to Trump’s ludicrous plan. He says openly that he wants his new survey to exclude “People who are in our Country illegally.” That is also prohibited by constitutional law. The 14th Amendment, Section 2, states that…

“Representatives shall be apportioned among the several states according to their respective numbers, counting the whole number of persons in each state, excluding Indians not taxed.”

While undocumented persons do not vote, they are persons. And it is critical to know the total number of all persons to ensure that states receive and allocate adequate resources to serve their entire resident population. You cannot simply pretend that real human beings don’t exist. An accurate complete count impacts everything from housing, to police and fire services, to education, to nutritional and health matters, to traffic, and more.

What’s more, the financial contributions of undocumented persons to the economy need to be assessed. For instance, in 2022, undocumented immigrant households paid $96.7 billion in federal, state, and local taxes, and had $299 billion in spending power. They also fulfill labor needs in fields such as agriculture, construction, healthcare, etc. And they pay into the Social Security Trust Fund, even though they cannot collect from it. In fact, undocumented immigrants paid $25.7 billion in Social Security taxes in 2022.

Consequently, Trump’s idea of excluding undocumented persons from the census would be materially harmful to every municipality, and to the nation as a whole. Meanwhile, any changes to the apportionment of congressional representatives or Electoral Collage votes would be minimal with offsetting impact for both parties.

In conclusion, there is no reason to conduct another census with Trump’s racist adjustments other than to satiate the hatred by Trump and his MAGA movement. And the legal barriers to it are impossible to overcome without actions taken by Congress or constitutional amendment.

Trump tried this before and was struck down by the Supreme Court with a decision written by conservative Justice John Roberts. So maybe Trump’s motivation for doing this is not just to steal an election. Maybe he’s also using it as yet another distraction from the Jeffrey Epstein/Ghislaine Maxwell affair that he is trying so feverishly to avoid. And he’s losing on both counts.
