Fox News Caught Coddling Conspiracy Crackpots for Fear of Losing Audience and Advertisers – Again!

The billion dollar defamation lawsuit by Dominion Voting Systems against Fox News is getting closer to being played out in court. And with an April 17 trial date, there is still more evidence of Fox’s fraudulence coming out on a nearly daily basis. The extent of their ethical emptiness continues to astonish and disgust.

Fox News, Bullshit Factory

The latest exposure of Fox’s unscrupulousness came in the form of a “slide deck” that Dominion lawyers used at a March 28 hearing. Matthew Gertz of Media Matters posted images of the presentation by Dominion’s lawyers (in this Twitter thread). And while it contains some cringeworthy examples of deceitfulness, it is also all too reminiscent of what has been published previously.

RELATED: In Dominion v Fox News, Network Cries ‘We Can’t Make People Think We’ve Turned Against Trump’

Among the new disclosures are internal communications from Fox News executives and hosts. They show that these people have no regard for journalist principles or the welfare of the nation. What follows are some samplings from the hearing…

Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott:
[Reacting to a reporter’s fact checking] “This has to stop now. This is bad business and there clearly is a lack of understanding what is happening in these shows. The audience is furious and we are just feeding them material. Bad for business.” […]

“I can’t keep defending these reporters who don’t understand our viewers and how to handle stories. The audience feels like we crapped on and we have damaged their trust and belief in us. We lost 25k subs from FOX NATION.

Fox News Host Maria Bartiromo:
“We have to go to a full on war. They have used all systems to defraud… Jared says he doesn’t want to hear about any conspiracy theory… The campaign is not doing shit.” […]

“The country needs to survive. We need to keep this president. Noone (sic) thinks anyway that people voted for Biden.” […]

“It was sophisticated funded and orchestrate & uses all areas of fraud including digital. We now know Nancy Pelosi has an interest in it. It’s directed also by Soros.”

Fox News Host Tucker Carlson:
“[Sidney Powell] is a psychopath. She’s getting Trump all spun up and has zero evidence. Same with Rudy [Giuliani].” […]

“[Mike] Lindell seems to really have gone off the deep end. He is definitely crazy… I agree there’s concern about Lindell being a conspiracy theorist now. But he has bailed us out loads of times when no one else would.” […]

“We can concentrate on cancel culture rather than his wild claims… If no one is buying him, he loses money to be able to advertise with us. And then we lose our biggest advertiser.”

[Note: After most major advertisers pulled out of Carlson’s show to avoid association with his racism and conspiracy theories, Lindell was indeed his biggest advertiser. Although he had problems of his own]

Fox News “Brain Room” staffer Leonard Balducci:
“Claims about Dominion switching or deleting votes are 100% false. Dominion systems continue to reliably and accurately count ballots, and state and local authorities as well as fact checkers, have publicly confirmed the integrity of the process.” […]

“Dominion has no company ownership relationships with any member of the Pelosi family, the Feinstein family, or the Clinton Global Initiative.”

These are the sort of statements that prompted the Society of Professional Journalists to respond to the allegations against Fox News in a damning statement by their Professional Standards and Ethics Committee. They found…

“…the allegations against Fox News deeply troubling. A fundamental ethical rule of journalism, set out in the SPJ Code of Ethics, is to seek the truth and report it. If a news organization knowingly spreads lies, either in news reporting or opinion, it has clearly breached this most sacred of principles. No responsible journalist can accept or excuse this behavior. […]

“[And that] responsible opinion hosts and commentators have a duty to use verified facts as the basis of their arguments and to not peddle what they know to be lies and disinformation. Many people use the information they get from their favorite hosts and commentators to form their own opinions.”

Indeed, that last line illustrates the problem that Fox News creates when they deliberately mislead their viewers. Of course, Fox doesn’t view it as a problem, It’s precisely the effect they intend to have on their audience. And the truly sad part of this is that it’s working.

SEE THIS: IT’S A CULT: Most Fox News Viewers Are Still Loyal After Dominion Lawsuit Discloses Their Lies

If anyone still thinks that Fox should be considered a “news” enterprise, ask yourselves this question: Why havn’t any of the alleged “journalists” at Fox resigned after learning about just how corrupt and dishonest the organization is? How could anyone who regards themselves as an ethical reporter continue to work for such a company? Why won’t they even make a public statement of disapproval?

The answer, of course, is that there isn’t anyone at Fox with the integrity to take such a stand. They are all equally responsible and, thus, reprehensible. There isn’t one of them with an ounce of honor or professional decency.

UPDATE I: In a March 31 ruling on summary judgement, the judge found that “The evidence is ‘CRYSTAL clear that none of the Statements [made on Fox News] relating to Dominion about the 2020 election are true.'”

UPDATE II: The judge in the Dominion case has sanctioned Fox News for withholding evidence. He also made several other rulings that hamper Fox’s ability to deflect from the issue of defamation.

On Fox News Trump Confesses that He Stole Classified Documents, Despite Hannity’s Coaching

There’s a reason that most competent lawyers advise their clients to refrain from commenting during criminal investigations and prior to indictments or trials. It’s because there is more than a small chance that they will say something that incriminates them and weakens their defense.

Click here to Tweet this article

Fox News Sean Hannity

Donald Trump, however, never takes such salient advice because his malignant narcissism compels him to believe that he can’t possibly do anything wrong, and that his way of handling things will always be the best way. Consequently, he regularly shoots his big mouth off at his cult rallies and on television without any regard for the legal consequences of his bellicose babbling.

RELATED: Trump Admits He’s Guilty in a Fear-Drenched Rant Attacking the Special Counsel as a ‘Monster’

On Monday night Trump was welcomed back into the bosom of Fox News (where he has been conspicuously absent for some weeks) for some softball questions about his imminent indictments and the investigations currently in progress. True to form, Trump spent much of the interview rambling incoherently and whining about his being persecuted by all manner of evil foes.

The Trump-fluffing Hour with Hannity was typical of how Fox News coddles Trump. Hannity made sure that every question he asked had the answer embedded in it so that Trump wouldn’t have to strain himself coming up with a plausible excuse or a believable lie. Sadly, Trump was too boneheaded to grasp Hannity’s obvious coaching (video below)

Hannity: I can’t imagine you ever saying “Bring me some of the boxes that we brought back from the White House. I’d like to look at them.” Did you ever do that?
Trump: I would have the right to do that. There’s nothing wrong with it.
Hannity: But I know you. I don’t think you would do it.
Trump: Well, I don’t have a lot of time. But I would have the right to do that. I would do that. There would be nothing wrong.

Twice Hannity tried to guide Trump into a response that simply denied that he would break the law. And twice Trump not only ignored Hannity, he explicitly contradicted him, saying that “I would do that,” meaning that he would indeed illegally take classified documents from the White House to his Mar-a-Lago home/hotel. He’s virtually confessing on national television. But he wasn’t finished incriminating himself…

Trump: Remember this. This is the Presidential Records Act. I have the right to take stuff. You know that they ended up paying Richard Nixon $18 million for what he had. They did the Presidential Records Act. I have the right to take stuff. I have the right to look at stuff.

It’s interesting that Trump chose to justify his crimes by associating himself with another disgraced Republican president, Richard Nixon. And Trump specifically cited Nixon for having allegedly exploited classified documents for profit. That’s just so Trump. Always grifting.

However, he was, as usual, completely wrong about whatever he was implying about the Presidential Records Act. It does not give him the powers that he claims. To the contrary, the PRA explicitly states that “Presidential records automatically transfer into the legal custody of the [National] Archivist as soon as the President leaves office.” But Trump is someone who thinks that he has magical powers to designate classification statuses mentally.

RELATED: HUH? Trump Told Hannity He Didn’t Pack the Mar-a-Lago Docs that He Declassified With His Mind

And yet, Trump still wasn’t done dooming his own legal case…

Trump: They have the right to talk, and we have the right to talk. This would have all been worked out. All of a sudden they raided Mar-a-Lago. Viciously raided Mar-a-Lago. I have tape. And I gave them tapes. You know I gave them tapes of storage areas. I gave it to them. I could have held that back. I wasn’t holding anything back that I cared about. I gave them tape. But you know the tape that they don’t want me to reveal? If possible – and they’ve asked me, and so far I’ve adhered to it. The raid itself.
Hannity: Wait a minute. I’ll take that tape.
Trump: I know you would. Everybody would take that tape.

Trump, of course, is lying again about being able to get this “worked out” before the allegedly “sudden” raid of Mar-a-Lago. Trump actually refused to cooperate, and he lied to the FBI (a felony) about having turned over everything. That’s why, after nearly a year of defiance and deception (hardly sudden), a subpoena was issued and a search warrant granted.

What’s more, Trump is claiming to have video tapes that he believes would exonerate him. But for some reason he prefers to allow his apparent guilt to fester in the mediasphere, so he hasn’t released them. That makes perfect sense only if you know that there aren’t any such tapes and you’re desperate to convince people that you’re innocent.

This will only get more interesting when Trump goes to trial and he’s asked to produce these phantom exculpatory tapes that he has now claimed publicly to possess. And this, along with all of the other times he’s foolishly spoken out, will make the prosecutor’s job much easier, and a conviction more likely. So Trump should continue to exercise his right to talk his way straight into prison.

Jon Stewart’s Snarky Swipe at Nutty Notion that a Trump Indictment Would Make Him a Martyr

As the walls close in on Donald Trump, he is descending ever further into an abyss of self-pity, victimhood, and malicious lies and insults aimed at the prosecutors who seek to hold him accountable for his multitude of crimes. His posts on his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, are drenched with the fear and desperation of a cornered rat.

Click here to Tweet this article

Jon Stewart, Donald Trump

Trump’s attacks on law enforcement range from outrageously false to blisteringly vicious as he attempts to convince his glassy-eyed cult followers that he is being persecuted by a cabal of satanic, George Soros-sponsored communists determined to drag him into the pits of hell – a destination he has been setting for himself for decades. And it’s clear that Trump’s anxieties are weighing on him as he converts his fear into threats.

RELATED: Trump Warns of ‘Death and Destruction’ if He is Indicted for Crimes that He Actually Committed

The prospect of Trump being indicted has driven debate among the pundit and political class, with his most devoted defenders latching unto the preposterous notion that if charges were brought against him it would boost his popularity and secure his electoral victory in 2024.

They might be right if they are only considering Trump’s position among his staunchly loyal disciples. They have already proven that nothing he does (assaulting women, stealing classified documents, consorting with Russians, dining with Nazis, inciting insurrections, etc.) could shake their blind adoration of him. However, the broader American public is already tired of, and disgusted by, his antics.

The idiotic idea that an indictment would bolster Trump was addressed in an interview of Jon Stewart by CNN’s Fareed Zakaria. And Stewart was on top of his game when he laid into those who embrace the “Trump as martyr” narrative…

Zakaria: There are people who say “Yes, yes. Indict him because he has, in fact, broken the laws.” And there are other people who say “This is gonna turn him into a martyr. This is his path to redemption.”
Stewart (sarcastically): I think the law should always take into account someone’s popularity. I mean, what’s happened to our country? It’s as though you can’t even commit financial fraud anymore. You can’t inflate the value of your property when you need a loan, and then deflate it with taxes. The next thing you know they’re going to send YOU to jail instead of your lawyer, and your accountant, and your campaign manager, and everyone else around you. The idea that someone may face accountability, who’s that rich and powerful, is outrageous, and this country shouldn’t stand for it.
Zakaria: But what if it turns out to be his “get out of jail free” pass? People see him as a martyr?
Stewart: We either have the rule of law, or we have no rule of law. The rule of law does not take into account if that might make you a martyr to somebody.

Indeed! The law should never consider whether a particular defendant is popular, or how his prosecution might be seen as a matter of public opinion, and especially not politically.

That said, if Trump flunkies really want to impose a standard wherein public opinion of a defendant determines whether or not to pursue prosecution, they might regret getting what they wish for. A recent poll shows that 56% of Americans say that investigations into Trump are fair, while only 41% say they are “witch hunts.” Other polls have long shown that a majority of Americans believe that Trump is responsible for the violence that occurred on January 6th.

SEE THIS: WTF? Trump Brags that 67% of Americans Say He’s Responsible for the Violent January 6th Insurrection

In the meantime, Trump’s lackeys on Capitol Hill are smoothing the way for him to commit even more crimes with absolute impunity. The GOP chairs of the House Judiciary, Oversight, and Administration committees are presently crafting legislation that would “strip state and local prosecutors of the authority to prosecute former presidents.” Never mind that it’s a blatantly unconstitutional imposition on state’s rights, something conservatives pretend to support. Or that is intended solely to shield Trump from prosecution for his innumerable crimes. It is also a futile gesture since it would never pass in the Senate or get President Biden’s signature.

This is the “thinking” of the Republican Party that is so infected with Trumpism that they would actually consider a law that would permit Trump to break any law that he wants. Which, from their warped perspective, makes sense because they believe that his lawlessness would make him even more popular among his Klan. And this is a party that thinks it has a future in American democracy?

The Wacko in Waco: Trump Lavishes Praise on Fox News and the January 6th Insurrectionists

It’s no coincidence that Donald Trump chose Waco, Texas, to hold his first official campaign rally for the 2024 Republican nomination for president. It’s a city best known as the home of a radical cult that went to war with the police and the U.S. government. Which is a pretty good description of Trump’s MAGA movement.

Donald Trump, Fox News, QAnon

Trump opened his Waco cult rally by playing the hokey song recorded by January 6th insurrectionists currently in prison for everything from criminal trespassing to obstructing Congress to seditious conspiracy. And to make that even worse, he accompanied the song with big screen images of the riots in progress. So while he has blatantly lied that he never intended to incite the violence, he is now glorifying it, exalting the perpetrators, and fomenting more violence.

RELATED: Trump Post Urges His Cult Followers to Take Up Arms and ‘Physically Fight’ for the Presidency

Following that opening, Trump spent much of the rest of his speech whining about the investigations of his numerous crimes. He complained about the prospect of his being indicted and lashed out viciously at the prosecutors. He spent barely any time at all on actual issues that affect the American people. If nothing else, this speech revealed what will likely be Trump’s campaign slogan for the 2024 presidential cycle. and it isn’t “Keep America Great.” It’s “Keep Me Out of Prison.”

SEE ALSO: Trump Warns of ‘Death and Destruction’ if He is Indicted for Crimes that He Actually Committed

Trump’s defense of the January 6th rioters isn’t his first foray into supporting these treasonous thugs. In December Trump promised to halt their prosecutions if he were to return to the white House. Which is just another good reason to prevent that from ever happening. But his Waco address showed that he is committed to rewarding the domestic terrorists who assaulted America’s seat of democracy…

“Under Joe Biden American patriots are being arrested and held in captivity like animals. Look at what’s happening in Washington. […] These are people that shouldn’t have been there. And when you look at the Tucker Carlson tapes from two weeks ago, and you see so many things that turned out to be false. Very important what Tucker’s done. What Sean has done. What Laura did. Laura did a piece last night that was incredible.”

It isn’t surprising that Trump would lean on his favorite Fox News sycophants to support his celebration of the January 6th assault. Tucker Carlson, in particular, has spearheaded Fox’s whitewashing of the rampaging StormTrumpers. Neither Trump, nor Carlson, nor the rest of Fox News cared at all about the 140+ law enforcement officers who were injured, or the millions of dollars of damage to the Capitol, or the harm to the very concept of democracy.

To the contrary, they all applauded the mayhem and destruction conducted on Trump’s behalf. They crave the authoritarian dictatorship that Trump aspires to. And they will distort reality to fit their grotesque lust for what America should become under Trumpism. It’s what Trump was referring to when he spoke of “the Carlson tapes,” which were actually videos from the Capitol when it was being attacked. And despite having exclusive access to 41,000 hours of video, Carlson utterly failed to present any coherent argument that the rioters were merely innocent and peaceful tourists, as he claimed.

SEE THIS: Tucker Carlson Spins January 6th Insurrection Videos to Spread Blatant Lies, Trump Praises Him

In his speech, Trump also laid out his vision for the near future as he embarks on his presidential campaign…

“2024 is the final battle. That’s going to be the big one. You put me back in the White House, their reign will be over. And America will be a free nation once again. Our enemies are desperate to stop us, because they know that we are the only ones who can stop them.”

So Trump is framing this as an apocalyptic clash that will determine the fate of humankind. He positions himself as the one and only Savior of humanity. And he calls his political opponents “enemies.” All of that is purposefully designed to rile up his glassy-eyed cult followers and prepare them to fight for his ascendency to the throne.

The good news is that Trump’s grunts are too weak, stupid, and lazy to pose any real threat. And while some individual crackpots could still cause serious harm on a small scale, Trump’s incendiary and subversive schemes are destined to fail, as long as the rest of the nation (the vast majority) remain vigilant, unified, and committed to the principles of freedom and democracy.

Trump Threatens Republicans to Stop Using His Image to Raise Money that He Wants for Himself

If there is one quality that Donald Trump has always regarded as sacrosanct, it’s loyalty. That’s the attribute that he most fervently demands on the part of anyone wishing to associate with him. They must be 100% devoted to his interests. Unfortunately, that has also always been a one-way street.

Click here to Tweet this article

Trump Baby on Cash Pile

There are innumerable people who have learned the hard way that no matter how faithful they are to Trump, he will not hesitate to throw them under a fleet of buses when he decides that it’s in interest to do so. He has repeatedly attacked his Ministry of Propaganda (aka Fox News) when they are insufficiently worshipful. And he had no problem banishing his vice-president, Mike Pence, from his good graces when Pence declined to help him undermine democracy.

RELATED: Trump Renews Whining that Mike Pence is a Deep State Traitor for Not Overturning the Election

Now Trump is turning on the Republican Party and anyone in it who dares to use his name or image in any fundraising efforts. Never mind that he has no legal grounds to enforce such demand because the Constitution protects political speech. According to Politico

“The Trump campaign has sent a warning shot to the Republican Party’s House campaign arm and some of its most prominent digital consultants: Stop using the former president’s image and likeness in your fundraising pitches or you will pay.” […]

“The threat was driven by concern that small-dollar donations that could otherwise be sent to Trump’s own 2024 campaign would instead be diverted to other Republicans.”

Naturally, what is most important to Trump is that he be the sole beneficiary of every money-making operation connected him personally, professionally, and politically. And those who any other politician would regard as an ally, are required to bend to his greed and grifting.

Among the consequences for disobeying Trump are that he would blacklist any offenders from serving in his imaginary, future administration. And firms that implement the use of his hallowed likeness without giving him his cut will be banned from doing any work for his campaign.

Trump’s threat also warned that he would refuse to endorse any candidates who misappropriated his image. Which would be a blessing in disguise since he has often proven to be more hindrance than help. In the 2022 midterm elections, his endorsement was the kiss of death. What’s more, some of the firms he’s threatening are already working for his 2024 rivals, such as Nikki Haley, Ron DeSantis, and Tim Scott.

Politico points out that this isn’t the first time Trump has issued this self-exalting edict. His campaign legal team sent out cease and desist orders to the Republican National Committee in March of 2021. But because his demand had no legal standing, it was an empty threat and the RNC flatly refused to refrain from using his likeness. There were, therefore, no apparent repercussions, proving once again that Trump is all mouth.

The treachery of Trump is a lesson that Republicans still fail to grasp. Because, as it turns out, experience shows that it would be more detrimental to actually acquiesce to Trump’s demands than to ignore them. As some Republicans found out when they agreed to participate in joint fundraising ventures with Trump…

SEE THIS: Grifter Trump Splits Joint Fundraising Donations 99% to Trump, 1% to His Candidate/Sucker

And yet, there are still glassy-eyed disciples who think that they will get a fair deal with Trump. Which just goes to show how powerful desperation and cult programming can be.

Trump Warns of ‘Death and Destruction’ if He is Indicted for Crimes that He Actually Committed

Two years ago on January 6, 2021, Donald Trump incited a violent and deadly insurrection in Washington, D.C. as he urged his cult followers to assault Congress in a futile attempt to block the certification of Joe Biden’s election. Ever since he has tried pitifully to deny that here was any hostile intent. Even though he continues to portray the rioters as “patriots” and promises to pardon them if given the opportunity.

Donald Trump

Any ambiguity as to Trump’s intentions that might remain in the minds of the American people can now be thoroughly disposed of. Not that that disposition couldn’t have been done long ago. After all, Trump has been fomenting violence on regular basis for years. During the 2016 presidential campaign he offered to pay the legal expenses of any supporter who assaulted a protester at his rallies. More recently, he re-posted a comment that overtly called for “physically fight[ing]” to ensure Trump’s return to power.

RELATED: Trump Post Urges His Cult Followers to Take Up Arms and ‘Physically Fight’ for the Presidency\

Now, in a late night posting on his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, Trump made it clear that he advocates violence as a response to any effort to administer justice regarding his many criminal acts. In a frenzied flurry of posts, Trump gave thinly veiled orders to his StormTrumpers in the event that he’s indicted, including this one

“What kind of person can charge another person, in this case a former President of the United States, who got more votes than any sitting President in history, and leading candidate (by far!) for the Republican Party nomination, with a Crime, when it is known by all that NO Crime has been committed, & also known that potential death & destruction in such a false charge could be catastrophic for our Country? Why & who would do such a thing? Only a degenerate psychopath that truely (sic) hates the USA!”

So Trump is endorsing the notion that there is likely to be “death and destruction” on a “catastrophic” scale, perpetrated by his cult if law enforcement dares to hold him accountable for his crimes. Notice that he doesn’t attempt to dissuade any such violence. In fact, he regards it as being justifiable considering his warped perspective that it would be triggered by a prosecutor that he deems to be a “degenerate psychopath.”

RELATED: Trump’s Raging Fear is on Vivid Display as He Hurls Infantile Insults at New York Prosecutor

Trump seems to think that having gotten some votes in the last election (although millions fewer than his opponent, President Biden) immunizes him from any prosecution. He is also posing the flagrantly false contention that “it is known by all that NO Crime has been committed.” Were that true he wouldn’t be under investigation for crimes in New York, Georgia, Florida, and Washington. This is just his way of trying to extricate himself from legal liability, because he believes that he is above the law. He even seems to think that the NYPD will shirk their duties to protect the city from his rampaging followers.

The “death and destruction” threat wasn’t the only such incitement that Trump delivered Thursday night. He also posted a comment wherein he complained that “THEY TELL US TO BE PEACEFUL!” And he maligned Alvin Bragg, the Manhattan District Attorney, as “A SOROS BACKED ANIMAL,” squeezing both racist and anti-Semitic insults into a single sentence. Then there was the post that featured a link to an article with a photo juxtaposing Trump with a baseball bat next to D.A. Bragg’s head (which Trump later deleted).

This sort of behavior is typical of a malignant narcissist who feels threatened. He is actually a better example of a “degenerate psychopath” than the prosecutor that he fears. The closer he gets to being indicted, the more extreme his reactions will be. And after what happened on January 6th, he can no longer pretend that he isn’t responsible for any bloodshed.

WOW! Trump Thinks He Found Proof that Michael Cohen Lied About the Stormy Daniels Hush Money Affair

The seething fear of Donald Trump continues to boil over into ever more belligerent and bizarre outbursts on his failing social media scam, Truth Social. For several days Trump has been posting repetitious and offensive assaults on the Manhattan district attorney, Alvin Bragg, who is reported to be nearing a decision on indicting Trump.

Donald Trump, National Enquirer

Among Trump’s blathering broadsides are racist and anti-Semitic insults aimed at the Black D.A. Trump refers to Bragg as “A SOROS BACKED ANIMAL,” who is seeking to destroy the country. And he attempts to persuade the NYPD to shirk their duties to protect New Yorkers from the StormTrumpers who are threatening to riot if Trump is indicted.

RELATED: Trump Can’t Imagine the NYPD Defending the City If His Indictment Triggers Riots By His Followers

On Thursday morning Trump persisted with his impertinent prattle in post that reeked of the meritless pride of a confirmed malignant narcissist. He expressed his astonishment at having discovered what he thinks is a bombshell revelation that blows the roof off of the Stormy Daniels “hush money” affair.

The letter was from the attorney for Trump’s former fixer, Michael Cohen, to the Federal Elections Commission (FEC), and said in part that the $130,000.00 that Trump paid to Daniels to buy her silence “does not constitute a campaign contribution.” It went on to say that…

“In a private transaction in 2016, before the U.S. presidential election, Mr. Cohen used his own personal funds to facilitate a payment of $130,000 to Ms. Stephanie Clifford. Neither the Trump Organization nor the Trump campaign was a party to the transaction with Ms. Clifford, and neither reimbursed Mr. Cohen for the payment directly or indirectly.

“Contrary to the allegations in the complaint, which are entirely speculative, neither Mr. Cohen nor Essential Consultants LLC made any in-kind contributions to Donald J. Trump for President, Inc., or any other presidential campaign committee.”

To that Trump responded…

“Wow, look what was just found—A Letter from Cohen’s Lawyer to the Federal Election Commission. This is totally exculpatory, and must end the Manhattan District Attorney’s Witch Hunt, immediately. Cohen admits that he did it himself. The D.A. should get on with prosecuting violent criminals, so people can walk down the sidewalks of New York without being murdered!”

There is an impressive quantity of bullpucky in there. Let’s break it down…

First of all, this letter was not “just found.” It is not exculpatory at all. It won’t end the D.A.’s investigation. It isn’t a witch hunt. Cohen’s “admission” was a lie. And millions of New Yorkers walk the streets without being murdered every day. In fact, crime is down.

The truth is that the letter Trump claims to have found contains nothing new. The claim by Cohen that he “used his own personal funds” for the Daniels payoff has been a part of the public record for at least five years. Cohen told the same story to the New York Times on February 13, 2018. And that article was referenced in a March 8, 2018 letter sent to Trump by the then-ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, Jarry Nadler, seeking more information about the hush money.

SEE ALSO: Trump’s Attorney Admits that Trump Lied About Making Hush Money Payments to Stormy Daniels

What’s more, the phony surprise by Trump is all the more preposterous considering that the claims by Cohen in his February 8, 2018, letter to the FEC were rendered moot when he later pleaded guilty to lying about that. It were those lies that sent Cohen to prison. The Justice Department explicitly referenced these claims in their charging document on August 21, 2018, and noted that “COHEN caused and made the payments described herein in order to influence the 2016 presidential election.”

So to summarize, Trump is bragging that he “found” a letter wherein Cohen lied about matters that everyone already knew that he lied about because he pleaded guilty to doing so and even testified before Congress to that effect. If this is the best that Trump can do to extricate himself from this mess, no wonder he resorts to infantile insults and name-calling. He’s desperate and afraid and at some level knows that he’s going down.

GOP Presidential Poll Reveals Why Ron DeSantis is the Only 2024 Opponent that Trump is Attacking

While the first primary for the 2024 Republican nomination for president is still nearly a year away, Donald Trump is already running hard. He announced his candidacy last November in a nightmarishly bleak address that featured dystopian references to “blood-soaked streets” in “cesspool cities,” and was universally poorly received.

Donald Trump, Ron DeSantis

Since Trump’s official entry into the 2024 race he has maintained a constant presence via his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social. He routinely posts dozens of comments a day, mostly linking to ultra-rightist websites and his anonymous QAnon cult followers. Occasionally Trump even posts stories from Fox News, which he has come to detest for being insufficiently worshipful. But he still can’t resist it when they exalt him as he believes he deserves, such as their analysis of the apocalyptic commencement of his candidacy.

RELATED: Fox News Lauds Trump as ‘Unbeatable in 2024’ Following His Dystopian Campaign Announcement

Although there has been almost no adversarial interactions on the campaign trail, Trump has taken a profoundly hostile approach to one prospective opponent, Florida governor Ron DeSantis. Trump has lately descended into the scummiest depths of political hostilities. In a series of assaults he has implied that DeSantis is a gay pedophile who will terminate Social Security and deliver the GOP to establishment RINOs.

Oddly, however, Trump has hardly said a word about any of the other Republicans who are mulling running against him. And a new poll by Monmouth University tells us why that is.

The survey shows that Trump is well ahead of the GOP pack with 41% of respondents choosing Trump. Coming in second is DeSantis with 27%. The rest of the contenders wallow in single digits.

However, the poll also asked respondents who they would support if the only choices were Trump and DeSantis. In that case the race was a virtual tie with Trump at 47% and DeSantis at 46%. And that explains why Trump is only bashing DeSantis. He is the only one who represents any competition at this point. So in Trump’s mind, he must be destroyed.

Furthermore, the other potential candidates currently pose no problem at all for Trump. So he’s laying off of them. In fact, he needs them in the race to dilute DeSantis’ strength as the leading anti-Trump candidate. Consequently, when Nikki Haley announced her candidacy, Trump literally welcomed her into the race, albeit in a somewhat passive-aggressive fashion.

The more piddly Republicans who run (i.e. Haley, Mike Pence, Ted Cruz, Mike Pompeo, Tim Scott, Chris Christie, etc), the better it is for Trump. So he ignores them. But he is so worried about DeSantis that a day doesn’t go by without multiple attacks.

On Wednesday Trump posted a link to an article about Steve Bannon calling DeSantis a “weasel” for injecting a sly reference to Trump’s troubles with adult film star Stormy Daniels into his criticism of Alvin Bragg, the Manhattan District Attorney who is contemplating an indictment of Trump.

Talk about passive-aggressive. Although Bannon’s criticism included the same references to the Stormy situation, so she got a two-fer. Actually, it was a three-fer because Trump reposted the Bannon article, further highlighting the porn star, hush money affair.

In the coming weeks and months look for Trump to lob ever more poisoned spears at DeSantis. For his part, DeSantis will likely avoid declaring his candidacy as long as possible, partly because it is currently illegal for him to run and serve as governor at the same time (although the Florida legislature is in the process of repealing that law). So all of the open acrimony will be coming from Trump, while DeSantis meekly slings his muffled mud.

Fox News Hack Tucker Carlson Rants that Prosecuting Trump Would Forever End Democratic Elections

The pandering politicians and pundits propping up Donald Trump are storming the media with mendacious defenses of his criminal misconduct. Among the ludicrous arguments that they throw against the wall is that an indictment would benefit the twice-impeached, reality TV game show host. Perhaps there is some truth to that with regard to the Deplorables already indoctrinated into his cult. However, everyone else would be further repulsed by his recidivist criminality.

Fox News, Tucker Carlson, Donald Trump

If it would be such a boon to Trump, then why are so many of his glassy-eyed sycophants erupting in outrage? If they really believed that an indictment would propel him to victory, wouldn’t they be rooting for the Manhattan District Attorney, Alvin Bragg (and the New York Attorney General Leticia James, and the Georgia D.A. Fani Willis, and special counsel Jack Smith) to bring on their prosecutions? Trump himself is consumed by fear, as exhibited in the flurry of frantic posts on his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social.

Naturally, Fox News is joining the crusade to absolve Trump of any responsibility for his abhorrent crime spree. And leading the pack is, as usual, Tucker Carlson. In a tedious harangue on Monday night’s tele-sermon (video below), Carlson unleashed his typically rage-fueled brand of conservative crackpottery. The subject was reporting that Trump might be indicted soon by the Manhattan District Attorney for violating financial and campaign laws, Carlson complained that Trump was – as always – a victim of the all-powerful Democratic cabal that had stolen the election in 2020, and now is determined to – as the Trumpists say – “LOCK HIM UP!”

Carlson’s interminably long tirade rambled aimlessly, flinging baseless and childish insults at Bragg as being funded by George Soros and looking like Al Sharpton (because to racists like Carlson, “they” all look alike). He dismissed the notion that Trump’s “hush money” payoff to adult film star, Stormy Daniels, and the subsequent cover up and obstruction of justice, was a crime at all. According to Carlson, “paying people not to talk about things, hush money, is ordinary in modern America.” And it’s hard to criticize him for that opinion considering that he got his current show on Fox News when his predecessor, Bill O’Reilly, was fired for sexual harassment, for which he and Fox paid out millions to sweep under the rug.

In summary, Carlson concluded that indicting Trump would result in the end of democracy. That’s not an exaggeration of his remarks. That’s precisely what he said…

“If the Democratic Party is allowed to do this, allowed to crush the presidential front-runner, the main threat to their power, with a bogus criminal case, where does that leave us? We’re done because that precedent will live forever and voters will never again determine the outcome of a presidential election. It’s remarkable when you think about it.”

What’s remarkable is that Carlson can pretend that he was thinking when he came up with that. First of all, an indictment of Trump would not be done by the Democratic Party. It would be done by a Grand Jury of local citizens and an elected D.A. Secondly, Carlson’s characterization of this as “a bogus Criminal Case,” is purely his biased, dishonest, and ill-informed opinion. And finally, there is no logical path from indicting a criminal like Trump, to the assertion that elections are gone forever. It makes about as much sense as saying that if you wear a hat, your dog will stop talking to you.

Carlson is being especially worshipful of Trump these days as penitence for his recently discovered sacrilege. Internal communications released by Dominion Voting Systems in the billion dollar defamation lawsuit against Fox News reveal that Carlson told his Fox colleagues that he “hates [Trump] passionately.” And in the rarified world of Trumpism, that could not be allowed without Carlson being forced to atone. So you end up with nonsense like this. But sadly, no amount of up-sucking will ever be sufficient for Trump.

Trump Can’t Imagine the NYPD Defending the City If His Indictment Triggers Riots By His Followers

There is a broad consensus among legal analysts in the media that Alvin Bragg and the Manhattan District Attorney’s office is close to announcing that it will indict Donald Trump for violating financial and campaign laws. The case revolves around his having paid $130,000.00 to adult film star, Stormy Daniels, as “hush money” to buy her silence prior to the 2016 presidential election. Ironically, Trump’s own attorney pretty much admitted his guilt last week on MSNBC.

Donald Trump

True to form, Trump has dived fathead first into the speculation, offering his (almost certainly false) assertion that he will be arrested on Tuesday. Beginning this weekend, along with his frantic yowling, Trump posted twenty-one (21!) comments on his floundering Twitter ripoff, Truth Social, whining about the impending legal peril he faces.

The common thread through all of his gripes is about how unfair it is for him to be persecuted (for his criminal acts), and how important it is for his cult followers to protest on his behalf. Of course, what Trump means by “protest” is “riot.” “THEY’RE KILLING OUR NATION,” Trump shouted in all-caps, “AS WE SIT BACK & WATCH.”

SEE THIS: The Desperate and Dystopian Delirium of Donald Trump as He Descends Into Drooling Dementia

That display of derangement continued on Monday with another flurry of frenzied posts, including one that sought to suck up to New York law enforcement in the hopes that they would renounce their duties and come to his rescue. Trump shrieked in his caps-locked fury…

“CAN YOU IMAGINE THE GREAT NEW YORK CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT, CORRECTLY REFERRED TO AS ‘NEW YORK CITY’S FINEST,’ WHO, FOR THE FIRST AND ONLY TIME IN HISTORY, ENDORSED A PRESIDENT, ME, & HONORED ME AS ‘MAN OF THE YEAR,’ HAVING TO DEFEND & PROTECT THE ‘DEFUNDERS’ & ‘COP HATERS’ OF THE RADICAL LEFT THAT WANT TO PUT THEIR GREATEST CHAMPION & FRIEND IN PRISON FOR A CRIME THAT DOESN’T EXIST…ALL THE WHILE THE SOROS BACKED D.A. ALLOWS MURDERERS & OTHER VIOLENT CRIMINALS TO FREELY ROAM THE SIDEWAKS OF N.Y.?”

Seriously, can you imagine it? Trump thinks that sweet-squawking the cops will insure their blind loyalty to him. However, he is blatantly lying about their past support. The NYPD never endorsed him for president. It was just the New York Police Benevolent Association, a right-leaning police union that did so. Likewise, he was never named “Man of the the Year” by the NYPD. That was just the Police Athletic League of New York.

More to the point, notice that Trump is both praising and insulting the NYPD. On the one hand, he basks in the glow of his fake commendations. Then he reckons that they will shirk their duties to protect the public in favor of baby-sitting him. He also accuses them of failing in their mission to keep citizens safe by “ALLOW[ing] MURDERERS & OTHER VIOLENT CRIMINALS TO FREELY ROAM THE SIDEWAKS OF N.Y.” They should truly appreciate that dismal characterization of their job performance.

In addition to those disrespectful insults, Trump called the D.A. and his staff “ANIMALS AND THUGS… THAT ARE PURPOSEFULLY DESTROYING OUR COUNTRY!” He also lied that Bragg and former D.A., Cy Vance, “took a pass,” on indicting him; that Bragg was funded by George Soros; that the Grand Jury broke the law by interviewing his former attorney, Michael Cohen; that President Biden “stuffed” the D.A.’s office with Justice Department lawyers; and that the statute of limitations expired.

In addition to being false, those assertions are entirely irrelevant to any pending prosecution. The only legal consideration in deciding to indict is whether there is evidence that Trump broke the law.

Even if everything Trump is babbling about was true – which would be a first for Trump – it wouldn’t impact the course of the investigation. It would just be more of Trump’s pathetic whining and cowardly victimhood as he lashes out at public servants doing their jobs on behalf of the citizenry and in pursuit of law and order. In other words, more of Trump being Trump.
